First visit was on April 13th 2024. Line was out the door, but it moves very quickly! I soon found why the place is so popular - friendly service (I was allowed to try a couple of flavors before purchase, too!), and generous portions. I had the Huckleberry, and the Raspberry Cheesecake. Oh my stars! Best flavors, and creamy ice cream that was the perfect thickness. Highly recommend! I loved it so much, that I returned on my way back from my trip, and had Grasshopper (mint chocolate) - line just as long, went just as fast, and same generous portions.

I am a 26 years US Air Force veteran and retiree who is visiting Moab with my neighbor. We’re both from Oklahoma. My neighbor is also a US Coast Guard veteran. We wanted ice cream after visiting Arches and found Crystal’s Cakes & Cones. When we walked in wearing our retired military caps, along with our wives, we were met with the friendliest and prettiest smiles from the servers. We placed our ice cream orders and when we went to pay, the girls thanked us for our military service and told us that the ice cream was free to show their appreciation for our service. Thank you for your support of the military! Mahalo and Aloha to Crystal’s Cakes & Cones and staff.

We got the cookie dough and rainbow flavor. The cookie dough was pretty good and had a good amount of dough and chocolate. The rainbow flavor was very tart and refreshing. The staff who served me were very friendly and gave free samples. In addition the ice cream was very very cheap two scoops for only $5.25.

Good ice cream for a good price! Only criticism would be that the staff wasn’t super friendly and seemed to want us out quickly. The ice cream was tasty though!

We were celebrating my husband’s birthday while visiting some of the national parks in Utah. There are little to no bakeries that will make a whole cake during this time of year until I found Crystal’s bakery. She was very prompt with her response saying she’d be willing to make a cake. My daughter picked out the lemon flavored cake and let me tell you, it was incredible!!!! It was 4 layers of moist lemon deliciousness. She even added birthday candles and a sign on the cake- and she included matches!! She was willing to accommodate our crazy vacation schedule even when it was not during her bakery hours. She welcomed me this morning with a sweet smile and these days, that goes a long way. I highly recommend this bakery for any baked goods Crystal is selling. We will be back when we visit Moab again in the future- we want to try the ice cream next!! Ps- the prices are incredibly reasonable!!

All the girls working here are so friendly and helpful. Offered samples and recommendations. We really enjoyed the brownie flavor! Came here two nights in a row because we enjoyed it so much! Also the price for the amount of ice cream in a cone is awesome! Thank you 😊

Google
Wonderful ice cream with huge portions! It was so good that during my first visit I forgot to take pictures! Went again on the next day, tried a different flavor and it was delicious too! This place is a must go! Staff is super friendly!

Google
Delicious ice cream and cakes! Courteous employees. We had (first time ever) the huckleberry ice-cream. Don't forget tobask for the military discount, they truly thank you for your service. Great job Crystal Cakes and Cones!

Destiney S.

Yelp
Stopped after dinner. I kept seeing people around with delicious looking cones. There were a few people in line but the ladies behind the counter were friendly and offered quick efficient service. I chose a single scoop huckleberry. (After I had wished I had gotten it in a sugar cone.) This was soo yummy!! Nice and creamy! They do offer tasters!

Amy T.

Yelp
Cute little dessert shop. Decent variety of ice cream flavors. They definitely give you a big scoop compared to other ice cream scoops. Service was friendly. Samples available. Street parking available. Nice area to walk around enjoying your scoop of ice cream.

Will M.

Yelp
PHENOMENAL. Speedy, friendly, top notch service. Got us in and out of there fast! Store is simple, looks pretty good. BEST ice cream I've had in a while, at a rather affordable price too, especially for a tourist town. I got a scoop of the "grasshopper" on a sugar cone. It was mint ice cream, fudge, and thin mints. Absolutely delicious. If I come back to Moab, I will be back!

Shanalee R.

Yelp
amazing best ice cream ive had. service was great. cant wait to get back to moab. . . .

Sarah C.

Yelp
amazing service! The girls working overheard our son saying "birthday", and they added "happy birthday" toppers on the order of cupcakes we made! no extra charge! It was so thoughtful! And since we are tourists they gave us matches knowing our hotel would not have any, so we could light a candle for our kiddo! They were patient as the kids decided what flavors they wanted and they were so kind! Absolutely recommend this place! There is also a yummy gluten free chocolate cupcake, and we loved all the flavors we tried (choc peanut butter, double choc, lemon, and carrot)!!! Go treat yourself!

Veronique C.

Yelp
After dinner on Main street, we noticed a line getting into that cake place just around the corner, everybody was leaving with icecream, so we had to try it. No wonder they are popular, great selection of flavors and the ones I tasted were delicious. I got a double in a cone and that was a very big serving for one person! But it was so yummy I am glad I got to taste the coconut almond AND the praline, both amazing! If you are not in the mood for icecream, they have a nice selection of cupcakes.

Darin C.

Yelp
Sooo good! My wife, kids, and I stopped in for some ice cream while visiting Moab. The flavors were great and we all loved our choices! I had a milkshake with a couple combined flavors, kids each had a cone, and my wife had her's in a cup. It was all so good! Service was great as well and prices were fair! Don't miss Crystal's when in the area!

Tammy R.

Yelp
There were so many mixed reviews we weren't sure whether we should try. But we did. They wait staff were very friendly and the portions were generous. I have to say I wasn't super impressed with the icecream. I had chocolate and hubby had chocolate and grasshopper combo. We both thought the texture of the ice cream was on the icy instead of creamier side.

Ethan O.

Yelp
The best ice cream in Moab. The ladies behind the counter were amazing. They honored my father who is a veteran of the Vietnam War.

Jennifer B.

Yelp
Treat yourself! Service was just as good as the ice cream! After a day of hiking Arches, the 4 of us finished every bite of: a scoop of huckleberry, a strawberry shake, a single scoop split of grasshopper and moose tracks, and a waffle cone with huckleberry and praline. Delicious ice cream and friendly and helpful scoopers!

Deb G.

Yelp
Small place with great ice cream, friendly service at a reasonable price. Definitely worth the visit.

Michelle H.

Yelp
Came here after dinner after seeing so many people walking out of the store with delicious-looking cones. Ordered a double scoop with coffee ice cream and peach sorbet. Coffee was good, but had more of a melty texture and an interesting after taste that I can't describe. The sorbet was tarte and sweet-- the peach flavor was more of an artificial peach candy flavor rather than a natural fruity peach flavor. Not my favourite ice cream, but I still enjoyed it. It was reasonably priced and staff were friendly. :)

Julie P.

Yelp
We hit this place up twice on our visit to Moab! They have waffle cones (extra 75 cents), sugar cones (extra 25 cents) or regular cone, or a cup. They have tons of flavors, including dairy free. They also have cupcakes if your not in the mood for ice cream. Both times we visited they had lots of staff in hand to get you in and out licitly split!

Jessica B.

Yelp
Thrilled to find this spot! Super helpful staff. They had ingredient lists available, changed gloves and scoops for our celiac son. The bonus on top of all that was that everyone without allergies enjoyed their ice cream as well.

Wayne Y.

Yelp
The service was great. They were all very sweet ladies taking orders. The cone was crispy. They have many flavors. We had the raspberry cheesecake which was very delicious. My kids were so happy. Less expensive than Miss Gelato and bigger portion. But they didn't seem to have sorbet.

Subhrangshu D.

Yelp
Really good service, super friendly ladies at the counter and all 3 ice cream favors we tried (Cake batter, wild huckleberry, caramel whirl) were fantastic! Definitely going back there before we leave town. Strongly recommend this place!

Hailey N.

Yelp
Ice cream was good, service was terrible tonight. We were skipped over in line and when we mentioned it to one of the employees she was snotty and acted put out while helping us. When my husband went through the line for a second time for one of our kids, that same employee completely ignored and skipped over him again. We won't be coming back.

Victoria N.

Yelp
As my friend and I walked to the restaurant across from this place, I saw that people were eating and enjoying their ice cream from here; and since it was so hot, I figured it would be nice to get ice cream after dinner. Unfortunately, I wasn't pleased with my ice cream. I love pistachio, so I got that and strawberry. However, the pistachio is so sweet, while the strawberry lacks that fruity flavor. Their ice cream isn't rich and creamy. Maybe I got the wrong flavors, but I didn't enjoy either of them.

Doreen T.

Yelp
When I was researching Moab eats for our Arches road trip, Crystal's Cakes and Cones came up because of the pretzel cone.  Alas, it was an old blog and I was informed they longer serve pretzel cones.  I don't think they were giving samples during Covid, but Coconut Almond caught my attention.  I got a single and enjoyed it at the outside bench to stretch my legs after a day of hiking. Hubby was bummed we had to share the ice cream, so we visited Crystal again the next day! This time we each got our own cone in cookies and cream and brownie so no fighting.  They used Farr Better ice cream and I guess it's a local brand in Utah.  Social distance enforced where you come back in the front door, and leaving in the backdoor only. Great way to end our trip in Moab!

Liana K.

Yelp
Went into three ice cream shops before and of all this place had the best flavors and prices. Great service! Good ice cream.

Michele B.

Yelp
The ice cream here is TO DIE!! So so good. We all ordered double cups/cones and you will be very satisfied with the portion, plus likely regret it the next day as you jog for miles on your hotel treadmill. They do not accept tips but if you give one, they said they donate it to childhood cancer orgs/causes, which is so generous and wonderful in this world we are living in. If you go during the hot parts of the day (we went after dinner in July and it's still so hot out!) you have to know, they have no indoor seating and no outdoor seating, either. And your ice cream will make a mess pretty quickly if you don't eat it immediately!! Other than that, a pretty great local ice cream place to visit while walking around downtown Moab.

Nycole R.

Yelp
After a long day of hiking, what do you crave? OK, after you guzzle down gallons of water....then what? Chances are, like me, you want some ice cream. Crystal's got you covered. This little sweet shop found off the beaten path of Main Street has a variety of ice cream and candy mix-ins to satisfy even the strongest sweet tooth. If ice cream isn't your thing, check out the display of cupcakes. There is something for everyone. Unless you don't like deliciousness. Then you should go find some kale at the grocery store.

Carley G.

Yelp
We were pleasantly surprised by the quality of the craft cocktails. The food was outstanding also. There was a single bartender (Paul) taking orders, delivering food, and making/serving cocktails for the entire pool and bar area; somehow he managed to do so seamlessly.

Jill S.

Yelp
This is reaaaaally good ice cream. Hits the spot after a long and fun day of playing on the trails. Lots of flavors to choose from and all are delicious!

Mark M.

Yelp
This place is awesome! You go and place your order and leave. The service and ice cream are excellent! Most importantly, they are very very very organized. Highly recommend.

Danielle O.

Yelp
Amazing cupcakes! If you're in thre mood for something sweet it's the perfect place. Unique flavors. A little warm in the building but really great attentive service!

Suelin K.

Yelp
So many creative flavors. The ice cream shop itself is very simple and straight forward. Pictured below is a junior scoop in a cake cone. It was a pretty good experience, and I'd recommend if you have an ice cream craving and find most other dessert places are closed (Garage and Doughbird were closed in our case). Nothing life changing or amazing - simply a nice treat!

Carson H.

Yelp
Literally the best cupcake I've ever had from a store. Homemade with real lemons. Service was prompt and friendly. Small place with a good vibe, loved it. Will definitely return!

Jennifer D.

Yelp
Wish I could give a review for the ice cream however, stopped in today after a long day at the park and 106° top temperature. I was so looking forward to having good ice cream but when I got there they had the one table roped off and the area in the back with nowhere to sit. temperatures over 100° are just a little too hot for me to sit on the sidewalk and eat my ice cream. I asked if I could sit at your table and was told no. So, I went elsewhere to get good ice cream and be able to sit in air conditioning.

Sally D.

Yelp
So yummy! There's a good reason this is ranked #1 in Moab for ice cream because they deserve it. The service was friendly but most importantly the ice cream was delicious!! We got a single serving scoop split with 2 flavors - the Grasshopper (mint chocolate chip with thin mint Girl Scout cookies) and Raspberry cheesecake. Hit the spot. Gotta try this place if you're looking by for a cold treat to beat the heat in Moab.

Annette L.

Yelp
Ice cream is good, lots of selections. It was a little $, but hey, it's a tourist town, right? They have a couple dairy free options, which is good, because one of our 7 is allergic and it's no fun for them if they have to watch everyone else eat ice cream in front of them. Pro tip: not as many selections, but just next door The Spoke also has ice cream for slightly less $$. We were going to go there, but they weren't serving ice cream at the moment, so they sent us to Cakes & Cones. The Spoke has ONE dairy free option as well.

Wendi H.

Yelp
My family of 5 truly enjoyed the variety of ice cream they had to offer! The servers were so awesome & helpful. My dad had his Army Vet hat on & they asked if he was a veteran & we got an INSANE discount & a very kind thanks for his service. I actually got a cupcake a'la mode & it was more than I'd hoped for - simple double chocolate cupcake with a scoop of vanilla on top. There are A LOT of places to choose to get ice cream in this town but I definitely recommend this place!

Jessica B.

Yelp
This was a great find for us. Tasty ice cream. Open late. Masks on. Nothing more to really ask for.

Olivia G.

Yelp
Got here just a few minutes before they closed and they were still pretty busy so I'm sure they felt pretty rushed, but all of the employees were still very friendly and happy to help us. We had the strawberry, moose tracks, praline, and Oreo ice creams. The strawberry was disappointing as it was just strawberry flavoring and not real strawberries, but the others were good, especially the Oreo. They have size options kids to large in a cup as well as sugar, waffle, and cake cones. They also serve cupcakes so we might come back later on our trip to try those out!

Belen A.

Yelp
They are closed for the season! Hours say open on maps and yelp but they are closed. Just as an FYI. There's a restaurant on the corner that has ice cream until 9pm and also Moab Diner has ice cream as well. Upset that everything around here closes around 9pm, must be a small town deal.

Paul W.

Yelp
What nice people! My wife and I went in for an ice cream cone. The young girl behind the counter noticed I was a Veteran and gave us our ice cream for free. I spent 24yrs active duty and that is the first time any business has ever done that - it is usually a small discount which we greatly appreciate. The ice cream was amazing ... we would highly recommend this great business with the great staff and desserts.

Marisa L.

Yelp
Delicious cupcakes. My family loved every flavor we tried. Next time we are in Moab, we will definitely be back.

Robert G.

Yelp
Service friendly. Ice cream very low grade commercial quality. Strawberry was awful. Cashew maybe a 2 of 10 rating. Not a good experience for all of the calories.

Jk Z.

Yelp
I really like when places have one-way traffic, and it really helped here in the small space. They have two dairy-free options, gluten-free cones, and gluten-free cupcakes. The ladies were incredibly kind the whole time, and super informative about each kind of ice cream I'd never heard of. Just an excellent ice cream shop all the way around.

Nelson B.

Yelp
This ice cream place is pretty good and the wait time isn't too bad. The ice cream is from an Utah company called Farr's Better ice cream

Jen M.

Yelp
The staff were delightful. Also, they have homemade gluten free cupcakes and cones! I've only visited one other place (on the other side of the country) that offered gluten free cones. The entire group loves the flavors and it was affordably priced! I presume the owner checked us out (she said she made the GF cupcakes) and she was lovely. Highly recommend!

Pam M.

Yelp
We went two days in a row. The service was phenomenal. When we walked in three young energetic women jumped up to wait on us. They worked together as a team to get us served quickly. It's rare these days to have that kind of customer service. The servings were generous. My husband had Wild Huckleberry both days. I mixed it up Grasshopper, Root Beer (tasted like a root beer float), moose tracks and coconut almond.

Pam C.

Yelp
Times are wrong, no way to report it on the app. Went on a Tuesday at 7:50pm and it was closed.

Bonnie M.

Yelp
I liked the ice cream but could do without the attitude of the teenagers serving me. They were making comments to one another under their breath and then laughing, which I didn't like. May have had nothing to do with me, but I'd rather go somewhere with better customer service. Won't go back.

Natalie P.

Yelp
GO NEXT DOOR TO THE SPOKE. Better service, better ice cream. Here is more as to why... This place was awful. The teen who served me had no concept of customer service. For example, when I said I would like hot fudge, she snapped, "Why didn't you tell me that before?" Umm... because it comes at the end... it's called up-selling... and you didn't ask, "Is that all?" So rude. Prices were written in sharpie on white paper then taped up which tells me they raised prices just for the holiday weekend, which I get, but don't be so obvious about it. The ice cream didn't look to be anything special, not made in house. It was such an awful experience that I left without the ice cream. My husband and kids who had just ordered ice cream before me and came outside to hold the dog so I could go in had a completely different experience. So did the family that was sitting next to us. The only thing different is that I am a person of color and everyone else was white, my family included. I'd like to think that the teen who failed at helping me was simply inept, but I do wonder. We will never return.

Jim B.

Yelp
It was "okay". Reasonably priced. We wanted ice cream and stopped here based on reviews. We shared a Carrot Cake cupcake with Cream Cheese Icing and a small Raspberry Cheesecake Ice Cream. Both items tasted fine. The cupcake wasn't amazing - just okay. We liked the ice cream more than the cupcake.

Darryl D.

Yelp
Great selection of great tasting ice creams. Will definitely give them my business every trip to Moab. Wonderful and friendly servers.

Porter H.

Yelp
This was mine and my wife's last stop before driving home. We were just wanting a chocolate milkshake for the road. When we walked in, we were promptly greeted by a woman who seemed to be the manager. She was very warm and welcoming, and she walked us through the descriptions of several flavors. The interior was also cute and very clean (we walked in the minute it opened so maybe that changes throughout the day). We ended up ordering a large shake of a mix of cookies and cream and chocolate ice creams. She immediately started working on it. We had requested whipped cream on top of the shake. I noticed that she put real whipped cream on it which impressed me. I feel like most place just use the spray can variety. We got our shake and left. Once I tasted it, I was very disappointed. It tasted very freezer burnt and icy. There were large chunks of ice in the milkshake. This may not have been her fault but rather the variety of ice cream. They used Farr's ice cream here which is one of my least favorite varieties of ice cream. However, it tasting like old ice cream didn't stop me from slurping down the entire shake. While the service and location were great, I wouldn't recommend the shakes. 5/10 wouldn't try again.

Patrick S.

Yelp
At first I thought this little place was struggling and glad we stopped to patronize. Surprise! By the time we left there were over 20 people waiting in line...no struggles here. Good selection. Great service. The place is clean and well lit.
