Went to Cuco 2 times during this trip with my girlfriend, would have been done to visit more regularly if I stayed closer. Charming restaurant with friendly staff, food was one of the best ones I had in Brazil. Considering the price tag, i personally find it to be the best bang for the buck in Salvador for me. Below was the first review I wrote right after the first visit. What a pleasant surprise! I did not have much expectations for this establishment, but the codorna recheado à moda do chef (stuffed quail) was truly one of my most memorable dishes in Brazil so far. The rice showed the Arabic influence to Bahian food, with the choice of spices and raisin. The quail was wrapped in bacon and came with reduced jabuticaba sauce, which added a nice layer of sweetness and acidity, complemented the quail meat elegantly. My only critique is with the stuffing, which could use a bit more flavour. However, combined with the sauce, it harmonized without taking away from the rest of the dish.

Amazing food! Great service highly recommended. The broscettas are great. The coco salad that have the palmetos, chicken and greens was great. We had the steak with beans and the fish with banana and pure potatoes and it was the star of the show!! Highly recommended. The sweets were amazing too! I highly recommend the coconut sweet with doce and ice-cream! The restaurant's location is amazing too! Highly recommend it

This place is a diamond! The service, the food, the drinks, the flavor. Wow! To start, we had the shrimp soup and the cheese with banana (so amazing, a must have). For entrees we had the vegetarian Moheca and the shrimp and pineapple over rice. Both unbelievably good. Not to mention the drinks. Go here!

Quite a nice lunch experience. Service was a little slow due to Carnaval crowds, and value for money was slightly high, but a very solid option nonetheless. Food was well-flavored and arrived with a nice presentation. Recommend the Brazilian beer with fish and shrimp moqueca with hot chili sauce on the side!

Beautiful meal! Service was excellent and the food was fresh and abundant. Would highly recommend the mixed hot starters to share and the fish stew, and the cinnamon tapioca dessert with coconut ice cream was 10/10

I received excellent service here. Restaurant clean. Claudio and the hostess spoke English. I hadn't eaten all day, and was in a rush to get to a nearby Capoeira show in 30 minutes. Asked if I could realistically have a meal in my time frame and Cladio recommended a salad - something that didn't require cooking. Excellent recommendation! Thanks again Claudio. The chicken salad and mango juice arrived quickly and both were tasty Outdoor seating allows smoking. Indoor the temperature was comfortable and not too cold.

Ate at this restaurant four times during my stay in Salvador. The waiters, the food !!!!, the live band outside on the plazza, its honestly a little gem. I strongly recommend the moqueca but i think about the shrimp risotto probably every day since I had it.

A very nice restaurant in the middle of the old town area near the tourist attractions. The moqueca was tasty and the other seafood rice fish was equally good. Our waiter Bruno was very friendly and attentive and pleasant.

Yelp
Restaurants on main squares or plazas are usually places I avoid. We ended up coming here because the place we wanted to eat at had an earlier closing time. We were very glad we stopped. Not only was dinner tasty, but we got a great show as about 10 local street performers put on an incredible drum performance. The shrimp dish I got was fantastic, it was not called moqueca but it reminded me of a much thicker version of the dish. The caipirinha's were good but far from the best I had. Service was quick and friendly and the view of the church lit up at night was serene.

Yelp
I had heard so much about the food in Salvador that I decided to spend a couple of nights here to try the local cuisine. I selected this place as one of many stops. The menu is extensive and well curated. The wine list is mostly from the region with a few Portuguese and French wines. I decided to go with a Chilean Cuvée and I wasn't disappointed. A perfect choice to go with the seafood that is to follow. For starters I ordered the mozzarella served with banana purée and sugar cane sauce. It was as good as mozzarella gets and the flavour was well crafted. Everything went along so well. It gave me an idea as to how delicious caramelised mozzarella would be. Next was the stew with shrimp and calamari served with a mix of pepper sauce and splash of lime. So simple yet full of essence and flavour. By now my expectations had been surpassed and I had walked in there with very high expectations to begin with. I was worried it might not get any better as is the case usually at most places however I was in for a surprise. Shrimp Cameroon followed for main along with shrimp bobo. Shrimp Cameroon was out of this world. Again what the chef has done was using simple ingredients to come up with an amalgam of flavours. Shrimp , garlic , scallions in a bed of olive oil served with bread. Beautifully served and I was in heaven. By now I was almost full and usually the food tastes ok at this point however shrimp bobo did not disappoint and made me want to just go on. Prepared with lentils and served with rice and farfora it was a whole meal and continued to keep things simple yet incredible. One can't leave a restaurant like this without trying the dessert menu. I ordered the coconut ice cream on a bed of guava gravy - I never would have imagined how good this combination would taste. I asked our server to tell the chef how much I appreciated the food. Next thing I know the chef was at the table side. Such a humble and talented person. It was a treat to meet him in person. I have travelled all over the world in the last 5 years. Been to 6 continents and dined at a variety of places. Since Oriole in Chicago i was yet to have a perfect meal and this place delivered. Everything was excellent. I would say this was as good of a meal as I have had. If you're in Brazil and you love food - you have to or else you will never know what you are missing.

Yelp
Delicious moqueca here and they have portions for one person which is godsend because most moquecas are for sharing. The moqueca was very generous with seafood and came piping hot on a hot pan. The price is commensurate though, given the central location. Service was great, but the food took about 15 mins to come, which I wish they would have informed me because I was starving. Yelp
I stopped into Cuco Bistro for their moqueca, as the reviews were great and they were right! First and foremost, the service was friendly and attentive. I felt at ease with their patient staff, who understood my broken Portuguese, although they do speak English (I wanted to practice). I started off with a green mix salad and fresh coconut water. Then, I went for the moqueca special for one and it was the best stew I've ever had! The presentation was also colorful and happy. You must stop by and enjoy some good hospitality and delicious food.

Yelp
Beautiful attention to detail, clean generous bathrooms and EXCELLENT FOOD. We will go back! Locals eat here even though it is a tourist area of the city.
