"A Window to Central Puerto Rico This is my favorite hike by far. Cueva Ventana ("Window Cave") is a beautiful, scenic hole in the side of a mountain that opens up to a lush, green valley down below. You'll trample through mud, hunker down under low-hanging stalactites, dodge around stalagmites, and never look up (there are bats, of course) while wandering through the cave. All this winding around through two caves leads you to one of the most spectacular views in all of Puerto Rico (but I may be biased). The hike to this cave is half the fun. You climb down into a small opening under enormous, ancient tree roots, and you get the feeling of a tomb raider. But, if you're claustrophobic or don't feel up to lowering yourself down a cave wall, there's an additional path that bypasses the first cave and leads you straight to the easier hike to Cueva Ventana. There's something for everyone! I'm pretty sure I saw one Puerto Rican woman doing the whole thing in heels. This is a must-visit site for anyone touring the northwest central part of Puerto Rico . Another tidbit is that it's practically free! You can find the directions on PuertoRicoDayTrips.com, park at the adjacent Texaco gas station. UPDATE (2014): There is now an easier way to access this awesome view! There are now boardwalks for ease of access, and you must pay $11 to tour the site. You get a flashlight and hardhat for safety."

Cueva Ventana – Cave Review | Condé Nast Traveler

"Start from the top (no pun intended)—what are we looking at here? Cueva Ventana is a cave atop a limestone cliff in the mountainous town of Arecibo about an hour from San Juan. Its name translates to "Cave Window:" One hikes up and looks through for a gorgeous view of mountains and river. For the adventurous types who love nature, this is a must-visit. Got it. Is it easy to get around? Hiking the cave requires a moderate fitness level, so this isn't recommended for anyone with mobility issues. Any tips before we plan a visit? Head over on a weekday, when non-resident tickets are $19 for a 90-minute guided tour." - Alicia Kennedy

Google
This was a last minute tour that we opted to do. It is a guided tour…if you have knee problems or have difficulty walking, this may not be the tour for you. We had a fantastic time, our tour guides were Manuel and Danny. They did an excellent job explaining the history and pointing out the various drawings and their meanings. We highly recommend it. The views from the cave are breathtaking. You should get tickets in advance if you have a large group. Our time slot filled up at the last minutes with 20+ people. We were there on a Tuesday afternoon.

Google
Its pretty easy to find, before you park, there's a cabin at the front and pay. They do tours every 2 hours if Im not mistaken. The tour guide was very knowledgeable. It took approximately an hour and a half start to finish and it was worth it.

Google
This cave system was pretty impressive. Beautiful views of nature all around and also a beautiful view towards the end. We arrived around 9:20, they don’t start tours till 10. Also book online it’s cheaper. We had a great time walking through the first cave, a lot of bats and cool hieroglyphics. Second cave is where it is at. The walk down is pretty steep but it is definitely doable. Just take your time. It’s not a rush you’ll get there. This is where we seen the window cave view and a lot more bats and cockroaches. The guides were helpful and very educated. They knew the answers to any questions anyone had. Great time.

Google
Really cool place to visit. The guides are very friendly and enthusiastic. You will see some birds and bats. Great views and interesting history. There are some steps and uneven ground. The air in the caves is very cool and refreshing.

Google
Super cool experience! The guided tour took us through 2 caves, including the iconic window cave. It was super cool to see all of the bats in the cave flying around and hanging from the ceiling. It rained a bit when we went so some parts were slippery. The hike down into the cave was also pretty steep at parts so keep that in mind for visitors with limited mobility. Highly recommend this experience!

Google
Great place our tour guide Jesus was the best, very professional and friendly. Although it rained on us that day he made it a great experience. Call the place directly to buy tickets as I found out when buying in advance at other websites was more expensive. Average price per person adult was about 23 dollars kids 15 we were a big group and bought the family package.

Google
Cueva Ventana was one of the coolest places I have visited. The hike wasn't bad and the views were breathtaking! Our guide was very thorough in reviewing safety tips and precausions. they also gave a lot of information on the history of the land and caves. I thought the folklore was interesting and the image of Jesus (See photo.) that appears on the cave wall was really neat. The price to me is fair, considering the staff's wages, the upkeep and the damage & waste that some tourists leave behind, not to mention the one of a kind views. I was really blown away by the view from the opening of the cave, It reminded me of the land before time. I look forward to returning with my wife some day and we have and will continue to recommend Cueva Ventana!

Google
A must do on your next trip to P.R. The hike was pretty easy with some going up and down stairs. The tour guide was information and spoke in both English and Spanish. The view was Amazing.

Yelp
My family and I just did this tour and highly suggest fitting it in your trip. Our tour guides Brian and Natalia were so kind and informative. Couldn't think of anything that would have made it better. Thank you!

Yelp
We had a great tour with Raymond this morning. His excitement and knowledge of the caves and the ecology was infectious. He made sure everyone was comfortable and safe. The handrails and stairs are well maintained. All in all an enjoyable 90 minutes.

Yelp
Trailing through the jungle to get to this cave was an experience. Definitely a sight to see. It's one of those "oh I did it" experiences. The guide was very helpful and extremely informative. You go down as a group which wasn't bad, great way to meet new people. All the photos seen were taken on an iPhone. I don't suggest using flash since there's bats in the cave as well.

Yelp
As others have mentioned, the only way to do this is paying for a guided tour. However, I do highly suggest to do that. Our guide was wonderful and took time to explain everything we saw and show us wildlife. He also did the tour in Spanish & English which was so helpful for all people! The window itself is STUNNING and so picturesque. I only wish I could have stayed longer! It does rain from time to time and can get muddy, and this is also in a cave, so bring proper shoes! I highly suggest doing this on your trip to Puerto Rico.

Yelp
My FIL, hubby and I really wanted to go see the beautiful views here of the Rio Grande Valley of Arecibo. We were ready to get our hard hats on, get some guidance and burn some calories hiking to the first cave. The pre-Columbian Taino petroglyphs would have been a fun site as well as the stalactites and stalagmites. Not sure the bats and caves would be so welcoming, but to be expected in a cave, right? It would have been about a 90 minute tour for us today. I called and checked online and verified with the hotel concierge as well, as it's a over an hour and a half away. It will have to be our next visit. The site is temporarily closed until who knows when . Phone line states it is not available and to try later. :(

Yelp
Few experiences can be compared to Las Cuevas Ventanas in Arecibo. It's an experience that's unique. It's an adventure like no other into the heart of an island, into it's history, and into the very soul that makes it Puerto Rico. When you take part in this tour prepare yourself to not just see a beautiful and unique cave but also learn about the true history of Puerto Rico, it's original inhabitants - the Tainos - and also about its endemic natural wonders. Prepare yourself to interact and get to know people from all over the world. Our tour had Canadians, people from also all regions of the United States, visitors from Mexico, the Dominican Republic and even Pakistan and Lebanon. While finding the place is a bit hard because it's right next to the highway, once you do everything is easy. There's ample parking, there's a gas station next to the starting point, and the guides are incredibly helpful. After paying and once up the mountain, you get to the base camp or meeting point, where your guides provide you with helmets so your protected inside the cave. Then they guide you down the mountainside and through the foliage while provide incredible tibbits about the natural resources of the island. Being inside the cave is a whole different story. They joke and play with your sensory disorientation. The explain the formation of stalagmites and other rock formations and they introduce your to the petroglyphs left behind by the ancient civilization to populate the Caribbean. That all happens before you even see the start of the show - La Cueva Ventana. And once you do, you'll forget about the world and will remain in awe of how beautiful Mother Nature can really be. You won't forget it!

Yelp
Definitely wear hiking gear. Can be very dangerous because of the wind. Very beautiful scenery. Absolutely gorgeous! They charge $10 per person.

Yelp
Our tour guide was absolutely amazing! She translated for us in English! (I'm sorry I didn't catch her name but she wears glasses). She was super funny and very entertaining! I loved that she taught us about the history of the caves and was very informative! Highly recommend this tour for adults!

Yelp
If you are in PR and you have a car, Cueva Ventana is a MUST. Totally worth the entire $21 admission fee. This is such a well thought out tour. Upon paying for your entrance you are provided with a sanities helmet that you are to wear at all times. Our tour guide was very knowledgeable with the history of the cave and engaging the group. After you do the hike and go inside the cave you come up to a breathtaking site, and you are given ample time to take all the pictures in the world you can imagine.

Yelp
Really enjoyed this tour! It was simple, but entertaining and educational, with great views to boot. It's really quite gorgeous It is $17 on m-th and $19 on weekends for a 90 minute tour. It's not much of a hike, but there are a few stairs (there's a handrail). Either way, not too bad. It's about an hour outside of Old San Juan but I think it's worth the drive Recommended!

Yelp
Such an amazing view! I am 7 months pregnant and was able to take on the walk/hike, which included lots of stairs and change of elevation throughout. The entire tour took about 90 minutes round trip. The tour guide provides lots of history throughout the entire trip. There was plenty of opportunity to take pictures and ask questions. The tour costs about $19 per person and can be booked either online or tickets can be picked up there. Warning: it's better to get the tickets ahead of time as the groups fill up quickly. The company is also very COVID conscious. All staff members and participants were instructed to keep their masks on and to remain with their respected parties.
google avatar

Michelle T.

Yelp
Great stop to see some amazing views. Though you can only get to this via the tour. About $20 a person. They supply hard hats for everyone. best if you wear sneakers, though I did see some girls wearing sandals, it is not recommended and the tour guide can deny you entrance (pretty sure I saw it in their rules). The guide will provide lots of information on the island and the flora/fauna. the hike is not long and there are several long stop along the way. They time it so that there is only one group at the "ventana" at a time. Once there, you get about 15 min to grab your picture and enjoy the view. Bring water and bug spray. Expect the whole thing to take about 2 hours.

Yelp
Cueva Ventana or Window Cave is a popular guided tour in Arecibo, PR where you're taken into the natural cave, which contains insects, snakes, and bats to explore and learn about its history. There about about two caves, being the second one the "window cave" where you can appreciate the view of the magnificent Rio Grande de Arecibo valley. Totally breathtaking. They're open 7 days a week. The tour duration is about 90 minutes and it's recommended to arrive 30 minutes before the chosen Tour Time Important information: Children under 5 years of age are not allowed to participate in the tour. Prices go from $10 for residents with ID and $17 for tourist.

Yelp
Place was perfect, I haven't gone through the trouble of seeing if it is reopen since Covid because going in bay caves isn't too popular anymore.. but maaaan that view at the end

Yelp
Sad because the entrance price too high and doesn't has education inf. Doesn't offers clean scenery and is just walking about 3 minutes inside cave w only attractive is a mountain view and pictures taking. I do recommend La Cueca de Camuy.
google avatar

Andres A.

Yelp
Loved visiting this tourist spot. If you are a local you pay a different amount than a tourist. Regardless it is still worth the admission. For the price of admission you get to visit two caves but to be quite honest the second cave is really why you go there. The guides are very knowledgeable and are ready to answer all your questions. I suggest you travel with comfortable footwear because you are walking up and down some tough uneven terrain. Definitely leave the flip flops at home. The guides speak both Spanish and English so you will understand what is going on. Once you get to the second cave you are able to take some amazing pics of the scenery beyond the cave entrance. You must be careful because the cave entrance is Hug up on a mountain so you should not get to close to the edge. Once there the guide gives you about 15 minutes to explore and take pics.

Yelp
Really liked this tour and cave experience. Definitely better than simply going through a regular cave in Wisconsin or Kentucky. The opening at the emd of the cave is breathtaking. I did the tour twice two months apart and both were great. The tour guide is very cool and I would recommend asking him about the lion hair! I would really recommend this place as it is easy to get to and to find parking.

Yelp
I can't express enough how informative and welcoming this tour company was. The caves (of which there are 4) are funded by the government for archaeological research as well as bat research. They are extremely beautiful and well preserved, with carvings on the walls and paintings that date back to ancient societies on the island. I won't spoil the fun (and surprising) facts, but I learned a significant amount regarding those that settled this land over the past thousands of years. They were aware that we were the only people in the group that did not speak English, yet they gave the tour in BOTH Spanish and English and made us feel welcome. The tour itself was about 90 minutes long and included a jungle hike (which was of moderate intensity), travel through two caves, and the fantastic window at the end--with a view that is unlike anything I have ever seen before. Hard hats and flashlights are provided for all tour participants for the trek. There are numerous stops on the way to the window where they discuss the various findings, as well as explanations of animals and other wildlife. While in the cave there was a massive boa-constrictor on the ceiling directly above us. Unfortunately, one woman in our group was frightened and screamed extremely loud while having a panic attack. It was beyond loud and echoing, for those with sensitive ears. Not for the faint of heart. The window itself had some damage from the recent hurricanes and we were not able to walk close to the edge, as opposed to previous tours. The view was still amazing and photography with an iPhoneX was incredibly clear and vibrant. The view is great on either a rainy or sunny day. Be careful when hiking and make sure to wear tennis shoes or sandals with good grip! This is a must! For $17, this was the highlight of our trip to PR. We are wildlife and adventure enthusiasts and our experience was once in a lifetime. Compared to other cave hikes we have experienced, this was superb. Please check them out, your money goes to conservation and research!
google avatar

Rabab R.

Yelp
Awesome tour with Sebastian and Ricky! They were so knowledgeable and so kind to share all their experiences with us. I was really happy to hear how their conserving the cave environments, and they were extremely particular about the ways we can not disturb and protect the animal life in the cave. The Covid rules were very strict, and made me feel very safe. Definitely recommend this tour! For the price they charge, it's a steal!

Yelp
Must do if in Puerto Rico. Amazing view and friendly guides. I rented a car and drove there. Wasn't too bad of a drive from San Juan. $17 for weekdays, included helmut and flashlight. Not too hard of a hike though definitely wear sneakers & be able to climb stairs. Unfortunately, they won't let you go to the edge like you could before (which is understandable with the increased popularity of this place and no one wants a tourist over the edge) I believe tours are every hour from 10-4? Definitely less crowded during the week days. Loved it!
google avatar

Greg H.

Yelp
We did this the same afternoon as cueva del indio. This was cool and offered amazing views. No doubt the cave is a good experience. It was not clearly marked off google maps/waze. For reference it is in same parking lot as gas station and you drive up the hill to the top. The entrance fee of $19 per person was steep compared to the cueva del indio at $5. The hike was not strenuous by any means and very easy. I would have preferred to be at our own pace and not the show. The helmets were a little overkill. They are not necessary. The cave is dark and if not paying attention you may hit your head. Not very likely. Juan was our tour guide and delightful. Very nice guy and caring for those on the tour. He helped my 70 year old mother in law down the path.
google avatar

Andres R.

Yelp
This was a great beginning to a day trip to Arecibo to explore Cueva Ventana, And then the coastal sites of Cueva del Indio and Siete Arcos. The fee for non-residents of Puerto Rico is $20 per person, but it was well worth it. We had an excellent guide who was quite knowledgeable about the flora and fauna of the cave and surroundings, and he did show us some of the critters in the caves, including bats and a native boa. The descent into the Cueva Ventana was steep and slippery at several points but the view at the other end was gorgeous.
google avatar

Elvi T.

Yelp
$20 for non-Puerto Ricans. Park at either the gas station or go up the hill and park in the vast dirt parking lot, but the table to buy the tickets is at the bottom by the gas station. Also beside the table are stairs that pass a bathroom and lead you to where you meet the tour guide and get your helmets. My boyfriend and I got there around 10am on a Sunday. They had us wait about 20 minutes until there were 15 people in our group before we started on the tour. The guy working there told us that it gets busy around 11-12, to a point where there are about 25 people per group The guided part of the tour was boring. You basically walk 15 minutes to and inside the cave with the tour guide before he leaves you be at the window. He spent most of the time speaking Spanish and once in a while translated to English (my boyfriend and I were the only non-Spanish speakers there. At the window cave, the tour guide doesn't let you get very close to the edge even though he most popular photo of Cueva Ventana depicts a man literally standing at the very edge of it. However, he left and a few people walked down to take pictures there anyway. 2 stars because it was an amazing sight. Not more because the tour sucked and was pricey for what you got.
google avatar

Irene G.

Yelp
I saw many photos of Cueva Ventana and I aimed to some day visit this place. It was an informative tour, I'll warn you that you have to be ready to do some climbing so wear comfortable shoes that won't slip. My sister and I almost brought our Mom here and we were so glad we didn't she couldn't have done the climbing. If your claustrophobic it also may be an issue for you. I admit I had a moment in the dark being surrounded by the other tourists and I felt I had to get out of the cave quickly. It was definitely a little adventure. In the end was your reward, the cave window (Cueva Ventana) looked like a beautiful painting of Puerto Rico. A must to experience while in PR .
google avatar

Kat M.

Yelp
So to sum it up - you pretty much pay $20 to come here to take an awesome picture at the end. We rented a car and drove about an hour first stopping in Cueva del Indio (MUST DO), then 15 minutes drove over to Cueva Ventana. We parked at the gas station parking lot, paid $20 a person and were led on a guided tour with around 40 other people. Tour guide was awesome! Very informative and good attitude, spoke in english and spanish. We hiked through a couple caves, saw some bats, and then got to the window cave. Takes all of an hour or so. Would I say it's worth it? Eh, sure why not. Hey, we got a pretty awesome picture out of it after we had to wait for everyone else to take theirs to get out of the way. But there are also plenty of other places to see and hike for free in PR!

Yelp
So much fun! Loved touring the cave & learning so much about the area & Puerto Rico!!! Entertaining & educational! And so pretty!! Glad we got to experience this.

Yelp
Looks like price varies by day. I don't know what factors determine the price for the hour/day/week/season. In May of 2016 (rainy season), we paid $17 per person for a short, fully guided tour. This is a fully guided tour for several reasons, I assume. 1) Our safety. As you can see in the photos, we're all given helmets. 2) Preservation of ancient Taino grounds. Nuff' said. 3) Preservation of wildlife and the ecosystem. Having small, guided groups does ensure that we stay together and no trample or vandalize anything. The tour briefed us on the ecosystem of the area and of the island, as well as a bit of history of the Taino people. My group had both locals and tourists, so our guide gave the tour in both Spanish and English. We were taken through two larger caves, including the infamous Window Cave. Taino descendants flanked the entry and exit points of the Window Cave. They were pointed out, for us to go speak to them "later", if we chose to. That was pretty much it. Super short tour. Super small area of coverage. If safety and preservation is the intent, then I understand it, totally! I think...I just hoped to get a bit more out of it; more history, more time, more land to explore...I don't know. I would have loved to just sit there and soak in the view, but of course, they had to keep us moving to start the next tour, understandably. Not worth a repeat visit, but I still highly recommend it for anyone who hasn't done it before. The view with the frame of the cave is truly breathtaking. The pictures should say enough (though pictures never do any justice).

Yelp
This cave tour has 4 separate caves, with only two that you can access without rock climbing & rappelling. This tour is NOT for people who have issues with mobility. It requires a lot of walking, and sometimes in very precarious areas. The walking path is often slippery due to the prevalence of water, and some of the stairs are very tall and difficult to navigate. That said, if you're okay with a little hiking, this is a good tour. My five-year-old was able to do the hike since he has an abundance of energy & likes to climb... but it was definitely difficult at points. The caves have much wildlife... you will see more wildlife activity if you go on the last tour of the evening.

Yelp
My boyfriend and I recently went to puerto rico for our birthdays last week and did the hike of cueva ventana, our tour guy Misael Padilla did a great job, he was very friendly, funny and did a great job answering all of our groups questions. If you're ever in Puerto Rico i definitely recommend trying this tour, it has amazing views and the caves are pretty neat. THANK YOU for the great experience.

Yelp
I came here with my father and sister and wow! What an experience. I speak Spanish and English and I can tell you our guide was very knowledgeable with both languages and could be understood easily. Very good tour for tourost. The price is $20 for non-residents and $10 for residents if I'm not mistaken. They provide you with a helmet to protect you from mamey that may fall from the trees and knock you out. The guide gives you some very interesting information before making our way to the cave. Wear sneakers because the trail can get a bit difficult. Also, I do not recommend this tour for anyone that cannot easily climb up or down rocks. We were able to are many bats before reaching the cave window. I love nature and adventure and this was definitely a beautiful adventure. When we reaches the chest window it was just unreal. They also have hand-made gift at the tiny cart gift shop and sell frituras at the entrance. Do not buy the frituras they are horrible. Overall, highly recommended.

Yelp
Great adventure for the entire family! This newly discovered cave is a great addition to your Puerto Rican adventure. It's an easy hike but certainly worth every minute! The guides are great and very knowledgeable in the history and agriculture of Puerto Rico. Tourists, please note: DONTS - Please listen to the tour guide! They are VERY knowledgeable and know what will hurt the environment. - Wear closed toe shoes! You will be walking through a forest, down into a cave and if it rains, flip flops will be a huge FLOP! - Do not eat during the 1.5-2 hour tour! I was on this tour and a family was eating popcorn and letting the scraps fall on the floor of the cave. THERE ARE BATS and other creatures that live there. Please be respectful of nature. - If you will be recording any professional videos, please note that even if you have permission from the tour guides, you DO NOT have permission from the people on the tour. Be courteous and ask first! - Do not leave the guided area. You can easily slip, fall, and even harm yourself. This is no time to be a badass. Thank-ya! DOS - DO BRING WATER! Please stay hydrated. Although this is not an extreme tour, if you're not used to tropical climates, it can get HOT! - Feel free to get your face painted in traditional Taino styles by our guides (their DNA proves they are 85%+ Taino. You can learn a lot from them) - PLEASE TIP THE GUIDE! The tour is already affordable for the public and showing a little appreciation by tipping the guide is custom. Enjoy it! Puerto Rico is my paradise and you should enjoy it to the fullest.

This place is hard to find, it's not actually on the GPS. Look for the Puma gas station, you can't miss it, park there and the go to the entrance. The entrance fees varies if you're a Puerto Rican resident $10 (with proof/ID) or not $19. Staff was nice, our tour guide spoke English and Spanish. The tour was about an hour to hour and half, probably base on how many people in the group. We got pretty lucky and it was just the 4 of us and went by pretty quick. The group in front of us had 20+ people and we eventually caught up to them. (People taking pictures and walking slow). I would recommend good walking shoes. Something closed toes, flip flops are doable, you'll need to go slow. Some spots are slippery and watch out for the bat droppings. Definitely no heels.

Yelp
Cueva Ventana provides you a really great, beautiful view of the surrounding valley. Just an FYI, it's located in an unexpected location. The entrance is right off a gas station and it's super easy to miss. We missed it on our way there, and had to drive probably 7-8 miles before there was a place to turn around and come back the opposite way. The entrance is $10 + tax per person, so $10.70 total per person. When there's a group that's big enough, you leave with a guide (which isn't usually a problem, my boyfriend and I were the first people there around 10:30 am, and then another group of 3 joined 5 minutes later so then we left). We had a really good guide who pointed out many things in the cave and along the way, i.e. bats, snakes, cockroaches (don't worry -- you don't have to get close if you don't want to, and it really depends on the time of day if they are out and about). He also spent some time discussing the history of the cave and the surrounding region. The hike itself is really not strenuous, perhaps 15 minutes of very leisurely walking on a dirt trail, plus maybe 30-40 minutes of again, very leisurely walking throughout the cave. The end of the tour is Cueva Ventana, which, as the name implies, is basically when the cave forms a window overlook to the surrounding valley. What a gorgeous view with the river, luscious green landscape, etc. You are provided as much time as you like to take pictures, explore around, etc. Afterwards, you are given the option to explore Cueva de la Luz, which was basically a small adjacent cave, not really too much to see there. The route back is the same as the way there. Overall, had a great, relaxing experience here at Cueva Ventana!

Yelp
One word... Amazing!! Wait, a few more, beautiful, breathtaking, a must visit. I read about the Window Cave from a photographer on a social media site. I'm so glad I put this on my "must visit" list. The price was reasonable and it took maybe an hour to tour the caves. Side note , we were the people in our tour group with a 5 yr old and over 70 yr old lady (she wanted to see it too, but couldn't due to the steep entrance, she's a trooper, but my hubby made the executive decision, they were nice enough to escort her back down). As for the 5 yr old, he had a blast, my anxiety was high, but hey, we all came out :) Now back to this 5 star review!! When I say amazing, I mean it. The view is phenomenal!! We had no idea it it would be so interactive: flash lights, dark cave, narrow passages... honestly we thought a hike up and down, a few bats, cave touring 101, stay on the rail. Not so, it was an excursion. If you visit PR, please get away from the tourist traps and visit the island at its best. Oh the best part is, it's opened daily and no crazy roads to get there, whew!!

Yelp
This is one of those things that you'll do once in your life and will never return to visit again. Why you may ask? Well, for starters, I think this is highly over priced activity. I paid $100+ tax for a family of 5. My family and I probably spent about an hour and a half at this place and did not enjoy the adventure as much as we thought we would. Prior to visiting this place, we stopped at La Cueva Del Indio in Arecibo and enjoyed that 100 times more and only paid $15.00 for the whole family. The 10.00 entry fee is for locals. Visitors are 20.00 per person. If you really must go, then you must, but there are so many other adventures in Puerto Rico that will leave you with memories to last a lifetime. This one did not meet the expectations of any member in our group but we had to go in order to get the picture below.

Yelp
We came here in mid-January. We paid about $20 per person for entry, which included a guided tour and a hard hat for protection. The guide was informative and the walk through the various caves was interesting. Since there was no one else in our group, we received good service. We took a lot of pictures when we got to the window cave and never felt hurried. I've never explored a cave before so it was an interesting experience, but I would not go back due to the price. During our entire trip, we explored the outdoors for basically free so it was quite a shock to pay $20 for a 15 minute tour.

Yelp
I was hesitant at first with a $19 entrance fee for non-residents but it was worth it. Our guide was Carlos and he made it interesting and fun to learn about the native plants on the walk to the caves. The group we were with was small and since 2 of us didn't understand Spanish, he gave the tour in English. The walk up the hill wasn't too bad but it did get my heart pounding! I don't exercise much. They have a bench half way up the hill to rest and bathrooms as well. The view was awesome! This is definitely a place to our on your bucket list!

Yelp
Great view! Really fun hike, wear shoes that can deal with slippery surfaces and even though you're in a cave wear sunscreen because the parts walking to and from will sneaky get you with burns! Also electricity is still out in the area so they can't take card- bring cash! Only downfall- ticket prices went up for non residents ($20) and even if you're military and based in PR they still charge you the $20.

Yelp
Amazing adventure! It was $20per person for a 90minute tour of two caves. Our tour guy Misael Padilla did an amazing job on explaining the wildlife around and inside the caves, he made sure that everyone was safe the whole time and also made the experience of a dark cave smooth while telling small jokes that eased the anxiety of those in the group that were claustrophobic/afraid of bats or cockroaches. If you are looking for something adventurous to do in PR this is the place!

Yelp
Had a great time here in April 2018. This is a nice tour. Showed up on a Thursday and they had tickets available for the tour starting in 45 minutes. Our guide was Misael and he was funny and knowledgeable about the caves and the ecosystem of the region. The grounds are well kept and clean. I recommend wearing clothes and sturdy shoes you don't mind getting a little dirty, as the hike thru and to the caves is muddy/steep at times. Plus, there was a little stand of snacks and treats at the start and end of the hike that served Bailey's flan! Tasty stuff. You can grab lunch afterwards at one of the many food trucks and stands along the roadside. I would recommend this to anyone looking for a fun day trip in the Arecibo area.

Yelp
Nice view, Friendly guides, Excursion every 1 hour, Better to wear comfortable shoes. It is far away from SAN Juan but it's worth that time!

Yelp
Been here on three occasions and it never disappoints. The view is spectacular and the tour guide is quite knowledgable. A bit scary when entering the cave because it's VERY dark and you can here bats. But in PR we only have bats that eat fruits so they will not go near you and the view is well worth the scare.

Yelp
My boyfriend and I went to Puerto Rico to visit my family and it was his first time on the island we decided to put together a list of things 'To Do' and I'm so happy we made it to Arecibo. We stayed in Cataño but this drive was so worth it. We arrived and did the tour at 3:15 pm and made friends with another Puerto Rican family that was also on vacation. The information our tour guide had on the Cuevas was impressive and she was really funny too. The only thing missing is a Medalla/Piña Colada stand for people to buy from after their tour of the caves!! Definitely going back. I would love to take my parents who are from the island but never have never experienced it as a tourist.

Yelp
This was the fourth on the to do list in Puerto Rico. This is also the second best of adventure for hiker after El Yunque rainforest. Not to far from San Juan and easy to find, just look for Puma gas station. Standing atop limestone to peer out the cave's window to have a specular breathtaking view overlooking the valley below. It's worth for hiking.

Yelp
Awesome experience in Puerto Rico, the tour guide Ernesto was so knowledgeable on the plants and birds around the area, and the view from the cave is one to see. Highly recommend!

Yelp
We came with family and three kids 9,6,4 years old. This trip maybe too much for tiny kids, lots of climbing and needing to be quite in order to not to scare the bats. Please be ready for a hike and wear great shoes. The price for non Puerto Rican residents was $19 each plus tax. It's a bit of walking and history the tour guide was awesome and does the tour in English and Spanish. The view is the reason you do all the walking and man is it worth it. I'd definitely recommend you adding it to your "must see list"

Yelp
Price is about $21.00 pp. Adult or child, I think its a little on the pricey side for being that you only see one picture perfect cave vs. El Parque de las Cavernas which seems to have a lot more to see, however due to its popularity we where not able to get in, as it had reached its capacity. FYI it's a couple dollars cheaper than cueva ventana too. Although, upon paying your entrance you are provided with hard hats and flash lights as you walk in the cave. They also have a tour guide which is great for those who want to know a bit more of this place, by the way he speaks English and Spanish and takes everyone all at once, which in my opinion takes more time as he has to translate in both languages and give ppl. A chance to ask questions. Overall the cave itself is absolutely beautiful to look at and worth the time, if you are not able to get in El Parque De Las Cavernas.

Yelp
SNEAKER NEEDED !!!!This place was on my to do list while visiting PR. My kids (2&5) were with us. I was looking for adventure that my little ones were able to join too ! Admission was 19 bucks pp. it was easy to find . There was parking at the gas station and parking up top (steep street to get there) . We paid and signed a waiver , then hiked up to the waiting area . Waited about 35 mins for the next group to start up . there were a couple booths offering cold desserts and drinks . There was also native indians offering traditional face painting .We were given hard hats and then later flash lights upon entering the caves. It was a great HIKE! The tour took us about 2.5hrs !!! I'm sure if it was dry we can do it in half the time ....It began to rain so everything was extremely wet and slippery .It was very easy for someone to get hurt ... we got soooo dirty from the mud . I'm glad we wore used old sneakers !!!!!!! My kids were loving the adventure and they behaved amazing thank god! But It was hard on the parents we had to carry them some of the time ...but no complaints here we had my sister with us who helped us out . (I don't see how elderly or persons overweight can handle this .. ) the guides were very informative we saw spiders and bats inside the cave . The scenery is very beautiful and the end result was breathtaking! Pretty cool experience

Yelp
When a title contains the word "Educational" you may be tempted to turn away and run! But don't this time. You won't regret it. Cueva Ventana, or Window Cave in English, is a really nice, tourist attraction outside of San Juan. It takes you out of the city into a beautiful region of PR. The cave is easy to find (it's on a main road) and has lots of signs. There is a large, gravel parking lot at the top of the hill where you can park. Tours run every hour, on the hour, and take about an hour to complete. Contrary to things I read online, tours are mandatory. It is $19 a person. You get helmet, flashlight and tour. Well worth the money. The tour itself is wonderful. Our guide was very knowledgeable giving history of the Taino Indians who settled the area, the history of the caves, and talked about the species of birds, snakes and bats which call the cave home. Actually, there are two caves. This experience was one of my favourite outside of Old San Juan. If you are looking for great views (which this cave has at the end), a nice drive and a unique experience, come here! You'll be glad you did! If you want to check out my video of this location, please check out my YouTube video. My page is Josh the Travel Guy! You can find it there!
