Cullen's at the Cottage

We had dinner at Cullen's as external guests. Booking in advance was easy and we were warmly welcomed by the staff. The menu had a variety of options and everything tasted great. The staff were friendly and efficient but not over bearing. We had a little walk around the grounds before heading home. It was on the expensive side but a lovely treat.

We had the pleasure of dining at this restaurant today and it exceeded our expectations. The service was absolutely impeccable, with the team going above and beyond to ensure our comfort. Our waiter Vincent was very professional and attentive. The food was amazing – every dish was well prepared and beautifully served. The caramel desert was absolutely delicious! From start to finish, this dining experience was a memorable one. Highly recommended!

Great staff, pleasant and polite. We had only deserts and drinks, and deserts were a bit overpriced for what you get, but location and atmosphere compensate the prices. I am looking forward to visiting again.

Cullen’s is 40 mins drive from galway but a great spot to pull in when on the lake. The food is always lovely and the service is always great. It’s on the beautiful grounds of Ashford castle, the views are spectacular.

Nice and Cosy Restaurant. Fresh and delicious food. Ever dish was amazing but 53€ for a lobster risotto is a bit over the top. Service and staff was amazing. Great location overall

Just outside Ashford Castle and across from their main gift shop (the concierge can arrange transportation to and from the hotel), Cullen's is a wonderful seafood restaurant with fresh dishes and friendly staff. A side room can accommodate larger parties, and the main area is bright and airy with a relaxing vibe. Worth the visit "off site"!

I was here Saturday night for my friends birthday, she didn't know that two of us were going to be there and the staff were so good to go along with our plan for the big surprise. Staff were so good other than that too, I am vegetarian and one server was just so attentive to my needs, not that I had any, but it was little things like making sure I drink milk, (for my tea). I had the vegan sausages now I am not one who likes tofu or that kind of stuff that resembles meat, but this dish was so delicious. And the way it was presented was just awesome. Everyone else had the rotisserie chicken or the ribeye steak. And they enjoyed their meals too. Definitely recommend this place again and again.

This is a more relaxed alternative to dining in the Ashford castle (George V dining experience for example is much more formal) and this endearing thatched roofed cottage reminds the visitor of a fishing village house with a boat suspended right inside the seating area above the bar The strength is definitely seafood The seafood chowder is very creamy and really quite a substantial appetizer I tried the lobster and prawn risotto which has baby fennel, celery, and Parmesan crisps. I held the panchetta. The saffron is not really visible in the seafood pappardelle but it is also a heavy dish indeed Very creamy (that is definitely the theme!) with mussels, prawns, clams, samphire garlic with estate chilli and lemon cream) The service is prompt, courteous and informed. They are very well versed about the nuances of the dishes on the menu A short walk from the castle if you're staying there, just across the bridge It may help to hold the amount of cream to let the seafood stand on its own a bit in my humble non-expert opinion

We found this restaurant on the grounds of Ashford Castle to be delightful. It's a short walk away from the castle itself. Inside you will find a low-key but friendly restaurant that feels rural. They specialize in seafood. I had Langostino. My wife had a pasta dish seafood fettuccine. cocktails were interesting and the wine list was decent.

After we had a amazing afternoon tea at the Ashford Castle, we decided to go casual and light for dinner, a short distance from the castle and there is a small garden and fountain in front, cozy inside. I ordered oyster as a appetizer and probably the best oyster I had. It's from doonbeg and right amount of flash and texture. My BF ordered chicken better than my seafood pasta. I asked to change to tomato sauce and they overcooked the pasta and sauce was too diluted and too much liquid. Overall if I choose different dish or didn't ask to change the dish, maybe better.

Tonight was the second time I've eaten here in the last six months. The first time everything was excellent. Tonight the meal was good, the Irish trout was well cooked, and the champ potatoes were flavorful, but the atmosphere was unpleasant because there were two tables in our area with four children whose parents allowed them to be unpleasantly loud, really loud and disturbing plus they were running around. This was not the fault of the restaurant, but it made for a stressful meal. Upon leaving I saw another room where a more attentive staff to the people affected by these disrupting families could have offered to seat us. All in all a bit of a pricey and not much more than average meal in an unpleasant setting.

I am not a oyster person. Frankly, every oyster I've ever had has been disgusting. But I tried one of my friends here, and let me tell you, it was amazing. It was to die for. I am dreaming of a return to Ireland, just so that I have more of the oysters they serve here. The rest of the food was a-ok.

We stayed off site in Cong and came to Cullens for dinner one night. It was outstanding! I had modest expectations, but I was blown away. The restaurant is so very cozy, the service was friendly and the food was fantastic. We loved it! Look forward to visiting again. I especially loved the seafood chowder and the "No-jito"!

Everything we ate here was amazing!!! The servers were so friendly and so much fun!!! Specifically Hannah and Gary were amazing. The food was so outstanding that we asked our severs to give our compliments to the chef who then came out to our table to introduce herself (Hillary). She was so nice and spoke to us about the menu. We tried numerous items on the menu and each was superb. Even the honeycomb sundae for dessert was mind blowing!!! We wish we were going to be staying another night at the castle so that we could eat here again!!!! Outstanding!!

This place is amazing. Tara had the catch of the day which was salmon in Asian spices and yellow rice... she almost fainted because it was so good. I've been on a three year hiatus from fish n chips because of a bad experience in NYC, but decided to give it a try on the server's recommendation. It was mindblowingly good. Even the mushy peas, which I loathe, were appetizing! After dinner, we got to have a relaxing drink on the patio gazing at the castle and its beautiful surroundings.

Lovely place adjacent to Ashford castle. My husband had Peri Peri chicken which I thought was strange at a seafood restaurant but it was delicious. Probably the best chicken we've ever tasted. South African flavors dominate their menu and they're seriously good. The chicken was moist and meaty and the spice rub was perfection. Slightly spicy without being over powering. I had the seafood chowder that they bring with delicious brown bread and an extra serving of the chowder on the side. I couldn't finish it even with hubbys help. The wait staff is attentive and kind. Good win selection as well. Cottage is warm and inviting with a large fireplace centered perfectly. Ashford castle must have tipped them off that we had just celebrated an anniversary as they brought us a delicious dessert that we were way too full to eat so they graciously boxed it up for us. The whole atmosphere of the castle and the cottage as well as Cong Village is picture postcard Ireland. Quaint and definitely worth a visit!

We had lunch here. I had the haddock, bacon, and corn chowder. My husband had the soup of the day, lobster bisque. We also shared the Cobb salad. All the dishes were delicious. Very cute cottage with excellent service.

Everything we ordered was delicious. The spring rolls ... awesome. The focaccia bread was to die for. The rib eye was like butter. The sea scallops were perfect. The mussels seemed like an never ending bowl of deliciousness. The service was great, the atmosphere wonderful. A great dining experience.

This is my favorite restaurant in the entire world. The food and service were unbeatable. My wife and I visited the Cong area for 4 days and had to come here twice. It was such a fun environment with the best music to go along with the meal. Our sever Laura was fantastic and made the experience all the more pleasant. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone I know.

Walked across the bridge for our first meal on the Ashford Castle grounds. The shrimp stroganoff was popular with the family. The lamp kabob was served very dramatically and had a great taste. Service started great and then faded which is the only reason it received 4/5 stars. Little pricey but I expected that. Still craving that wild rice stroganoff!

The setting is lovely stopped in our way to dinner, Sean is an exceptional bartender he is attentive and creative he met and exceeded all of our fussy requests he made our evening at the cottage special I recommend stopping at minimum for a cocktail... ask for Sean

The service was top notch. We ate here twice. I love the bread and accompanying spreads! We had the share platter one night, which wasn't really a share, since you didn't get two of everything... Weird. Then we had the chicken schnitzel, which was wonderful. We shared that since we were eating late and didn't want to get too full before bed. The second night we are I had the fish curry, and asked them to make it extra spicy and it was fabulous!!! Omg! A must! My husband had the braised short ribs! Delish. The food and service were amazing!

Came here for lunch after walking the castle grounds. Food was very good and the servers were kind and made good recommendations, but we waited a very long time before our food came out and no one came to check on us.

Great cozy room, tremendous staff, nice menu selection. Great alternative to the stuffiness of eating in the Castle.

Our first dinner in Ireland was great. We were staying at Ashford Castle, so the Cottage was a short walk. Dinner was outstanding and our waiter was friendly and attentive. The restaurant has a casual atmosphere. We didn't think it was overpriced for the delicious food.
