A Guide to Abu Dhabi's World-class Museums and Galleries

"To find out where Abu Dhabi’s cultural story began, I headed to the Cultural Foundation, a landmark completed in 1981 after Sheikh Zayed set aside a block for a park and cultural center; the building’s Brutalist concrete columns are offset with geometric tiles in a mid-century palette of mustard and cerulean blue, a Bauhaus-meets–Middle East style produced by the Architects Collaborative (one of whose co-founders was Walter Gropius). Rabi Georges and Zuhoor Al Sayegh, the foundation’s curators, welcomed me and introduced me to the work of Farah Al Qasimi in the central hall — provocative portraits that unsettle expectations (Arab men made to appear quite feminine, retouched images such as a woman with one blue eye and one brown) and that will feature in the Guggenheim Abu Dhabi collection." - John Arlidge

Experience Abu Dhabi

An amazing place with so much happening all the time. There's a Malaysia art exhibit ongoing now and they are about to start the Jazz Month can't wait Even the building and it's ambiance both are amazing, the architects have incorporated local elements, wall panels, skylights and more ro create a venue befitting the cultural foundation

The Cultural Foundation is a beautiful space in the heart of Abu Dhabi, offering exhibitions, workshops, and family-friendly activities. I visited during a Malaysian art show and was impressed by both the quality of the work and how open and peaceful the space felt. It’s great for kids, with a dedicated Children’s Art Centre, and you can also join art workshops with professional artists for around 100 AED. Some exhibitions and workshops are free to drop into, so it’s worth checking their app for what’s on. A perfect spot for a creative afternoon, whether solo or with family.

The place is exquisite and aesthetic. It’s free to enter unless some event is going on. The fountain area and the courtyard are huge and suitable for performances. (Experienced to attend Abudhabi Young Orchestra performance) There is huge gallery which host a lot of art exhibitions. The auditorium is also very well organized with good acoustics. The children library and art department is there. There are a couple of water and chips vending machines. The cafeteria outside is nice but with limited food options.

Went to check the art galleries and to discover this cultural gem. The access is easy with plenty of parking spaces in an underground parking. So enriching with exhibits of different artists. There is kids play area very nice from the outside but didn’t enter since I didn’t have this age group with me. Highly recommend it if you are into art and culture

A must visit place in Abu Dhabi. Its free. The ticket shown is for Qasr Al Hosn. However there are different activities, workshops and library, which are chargeable. Loved the arts displayed and amazing management. Special timings for event "Ramadan nights at Cultural foundation". Great souvenir shop.
