Yelp
If you haven't been to a Culver's it is an all American style restaurant that offers an array traditional diner style foods. You can get a number of items but what they specialize in is their ice cream. The problem is that this Culver's lacks good management, employees, and service.
Location:
This Culver's is located right down the street of Basslake road and near highway 169 and 494. It's an easy location to get to and it is easy to spot from the road. It's nicely tucked away from the busy street so getting in and out of the parking lot is a breeze. The outside of the restaurant is clean and has the same unified look that you come to expect when you pull into a Culver's. There's nothing extraordinary about the outside, but that's not always a bad thing. The inside is clean and seems well taken care of. Besides being a little old looking there isn't much going on in the inside of the restaurant. You got your normal dining chairs and tables, the ordering station, restrooms, and pretty much what you come to expect from a fast food restaurant. The inside and the outside of the restaurant is nice but that isn't where the problems of the restaurant exist.
Food:
The food here is what you think of when you think of an American diner or fast food restaurant. You got burgers, chicken tenders, cheese curds, fries, onion rings, and most importantly the ice cream! We have tired multiple things on the menu and we have had hit or miss success pretty much every time we have been here. The burgers we have had have ranged from juicy plump burgers that are cooked well, have a nice crisp on them, stretchy gooey cheese on top, and finished with a soft bun. On the other hand we have had soft buns filled with hockey pucks and stale cheese on top. Then we have had cheese curds that rival the state fairs cheese curd stand, but then we have gotten a bag of crunchy grease that has glue on the inside of them. Lastly the ice cream is why we usually come here. We have tried multiple different toppings, flavors, styles, and have gotten a mismatched experience of all of it. Ranging from liquid ice cream, wrong toppings, missing toppings, and even super hard ice cream. The food here is just random every time we come. It's either the best Culver's you have had or it's money you wish you had back in your pocket and time put back into your life after visiting here.
Experience:
Our experiences here are usually not that great. We have had rude intercom workers that don't seem like they want to take your order. We have had people not understand us and tell us they don't serve the item we are asking about even though it's on the menu. We have had employees that don't say anything as you pull up to the window or when your order inside. They just stare at you and wait for you to do all the work. We have had items missing from our bags, toppings missing from ice cream, food not prepared to our order, you name it. Pretty much everything you hate about ordering food at a fast food place has happened to us at this location. If the ice cream just wasn't as good as it is I would give this location a worse score.
Overall:
In the end this location has a lot of room for improvement. The food could be better, the staff could be better, and your overall experience could be better. We still go here mainly for the ice cream but choose to skip out on the food most of the time. It usually ends up being too expensive for the quality that you get. If you're in the area feel free to try it yourself and I hope you have a better experience than we have.
