Booking:
I found this site as part of a last minute getaway, booking was straightforward enough using the C&C club website. Due to the time of year (late August bank holiday) availability was limited more generally, but this site still had a hardstanding pitch with electric.
After booking I received an email with arrival details and a contact telephone number for the site, in case of unexpected issues or late arrivals.
Arrival:
The site prefers arrivals before 8pm (you can arrive from 1pm and stay until 11am on the day of departure), however if you anticipate arriving later than 8pm there is the option to let the site know and presumably they will try and accommodate this. On arrival I was met by one of the helpful staff from the club (who generally live on site) and shown to the pitch. The site assistant provided an explanation of the facilities and where they were located. Helpfully, the assistant explained how to get to the nearby castle and some local walks.
Pitch & Facilities:
I was allocated Pitch 36 with views overlooking the Firth of Clyde and the Isle of Arran together with surrounding farmland. Each pitch has a good size hardstanding area for vehicles and awnings together with an amenities bollard electric hookup, water is provided at various locations around the site but not at the bollards for each pitch. At the time of writing, electricity is included in the price at this site.
There is a facilities block close to the entrance with males and female showers and toilets, next door is a good sized dishwashing room and next to that is a laundry room. I did not use the laundry facilities during my stay but they seemed in good working order. Helpfully, the site provides rotary washing lines next to the laundry to help with drying items.
Conclusion:
The site is easy to locate being close to the A77 (but not close enough to actually hear it!) and near to Culzean Castle and gardens. The site was clean and tidy.
The facilities were clean and in very good condition, more generally I have found the consistency of Camping and Caravan Club facilities to be excellent and Culzean Castle is no different. There was a small play park on the site for children.
The site is extremely peaceful and seemed to attract a range of customers from younger families with children (I visited in the summer holidays) and older couples. I stayed at this site as part of a trip to the Highlands of Scotland and this was a useful half way point on my journey.
