This was our family's first time camping here on the weekend, and let me say "Wow!". The park itself is extremely easy to navigate, and they will help you out if you need it. The staff is super awesome and friendly, and it felt good knowing the park rangers are always around at night. The beach access was awesome and they have an amazing playground. Everything was super nice and clean and on the weekends they even have an activity for children at their Three Bears Cottage. I could definitely see this being a great spot for a weekend getaway or just a quick stop on a long trip. There are also day passes available for those who don't wish to camp. 100% will be returning again!

First time staying at this campground. Beautiful campground and clean! We didn't get a waterfront site but from where we were, we had some views of the lake(in between campers lol). The sites have no privacy between them so if you're looking for secluded sites with no one around then this campground is not for you. The bathrooms and showers are newer and clean. Kuddos to the staff there for keeping the campground clean! We went the day after TS Debby, the staff were hard at work picking up down branches. We'll definitely be back!

Great little park and beautiful waterfront. We went for the total eclipse and it was a great time. They have a nice little playground and a small little beach area. The public beach is right next door as well. Camp sites available for tent and I believe RV's

We camp quite a lot, throughout the northeast and as far as Virginia Beach. This is one of the very best run parks we have ever been to. We saw park employees working and often spoke with to them. All were extremely engaging and helpful. I rarely do ratings but felt this one was worth doing. We had a great time and will be back. Try the Hungry Bear diner about 11 min away.

It's a great place but it would be great if they would bring back the family cabins and family entertainment center like they had in the good old days and beach changing rooms and bathrooms there's nothing like this on the beach no more but the campground is awesome

Yelp
Nice wide open spaces with very cold chilly water and windy weather. My family had a bar b Que lunch there. Place is clean and refreshing away from city lights

Yelp
We finally made an intentional stop at this park after numerous times of passing by on our way to the ferry to Burlington, VT. With our swim and sand gears in tow, we were ready for a day on the beach! Upon entering the premise, we were charged a $4.00 admission per vehicle. We parked by the building where most of the showers were. With little kids, it was a hike towards the beach. It was a sunny day, but with rain clouds looming over us. Thus, the winds were blowing and the waters constantly pushed waves back and forth. There were lots of warnings and cordoned areas for swimming. A lifeguard was on duty. Our kids enjoyed wading in the waters and playing with the sand. To shower, we had to run back to where we came from. Only 2 out of several shower stalls were working and both of them were too hot to use. That's not good. But, I would be interested in going back to try out camping here. It's not a big area and for people like us who grew up in the city, this might be a good place to start the outdoor experience. And, in case we realize that camping out is not our thing, we can easily go out and forage in the mall.

Yelp
A lake so big it feels like you're standing at the edge of an ocean. The sand is nice and walkable and there are natural ride pools that add to the scenery. Try walking the trails just off the beach too, there are historical signs there too.

Yelp
We decided to camp overnight here because it is a short 5 min drive to the ferry to cross over into Vermont. Stayed at site 119. Since its been raining so much in the area, there was tons of flooding at our loop. The grass in the middle section of the loops was inundated with water. At check-in, the ranger told us of this problem and we were given a choice to pick from open sites. However upon returning, most of the available spots weren't much better in terms of flooding... so we justed opted to stayed at our site Many facilities at the day use were closed. Picnic tables around the park were in bad shape. There are plenty of standing grills to BBQ. Facilities at the campground were okay and we noticed a cleaning crew going around. Please note that there are no dish washing station, so if you plan to cook, be prepared to either wash them in the bathroom sink or under the water facets (but where would you dump the waste water???) The swimming area is small and the beach was scattered with liter... The morning that we were leaving, we got attacked by vicious mosquitos. I guess the flooded areas a.k.a. standing water helped bred mosquitos overnight! Overall, not a good stay for us. I guess if you were just using the day-use area it would be okay. We will likely not return unless they put some much needed investments into this place.

Yelp
We didn't camp this time, but the sites look clean and maintained, although close together with little visual separation (bushes, trees, etc.). This is a very nice beach for day use. The beach is clean and maintained, and the dunes are largely clear of seaweed and floating lake debris. The "cabana" (building for changing) has hot (as in etch the skin off hot) showers and changing space, and is pretty clean. And, it's all free (showers). The park entrance fee for day use was $7 per carload...quite reasonable. So, why only two stars? Well, let's say that the rules are a bit whack! I'll explain. There is Cumberland Bay State Park and the Plattsburgh City Park; they both have space on this long stretch of Lake Champlain beach. In between these two parks there is a huge section of undisturbed dunes...beautiful sandy beach and nary a soul in the water. Yet, on either end of this unused beach and lake front are two small roped off sections; one is the city park, the other is Cumberland Bay...each have their own lifeguards. We set up our chairs about equidistant between the two roped areas, careful to avoid the large crowds on either end. We thought we had scored the sweetest spot on the beach. Then we discovered why there were masses of people corralled on these polar locations and pristine and unused beach between them. Within a half hour of commencing water fun we were approached by a lifeguard on a kayak who had come to shoo us away from the open water into these roped in swimming areas...we weren't allowed to be in the water between these two fenced in areas. It is also worth noting here that the water is barely chest-deep at the deepest point in this small roped off area...not good for actual swimming. The rest of the afternoon was spent dodging lifeguards (and having to explain to our children why we were skirting the rules) and the crowds of people. The kids were bored (remember swimming was impractical because it was crowded and shallow) and we (parents) quickly grew tired of the repeated air horns, whistles, and bull horn announcements by the "Beach Gestapo" - so named by my German husband. There are so many parks and beaches on Lake Champlain where you are FREE to have fun that we will be crossing this park off the "places to go" list. If you want a good dunes beach, go to Alburgh Dunes State Park in Vermont. No bells and whistles, but a great beach and...FREEDOM to enjoy it. There were LOTS of people there, and they seemed to be enjoying themselves, but being harangued by lifeguards is NOT our idea of a good time. We wouldn't recommend this park, and we won't be going back.

Yelp
First time on a ferry and it was OK, very thankful that it was open year round we went to Port Kent Ferry in N.Y. and it was closed and dark as hell, it looked like something out of a horror film, we got there cause our GPS took us the fastest route but it would have been nice to know at the town before that it was closed but no indication, the staff at this place was very helpful and it didn't take long to get to Burlington after exiting it was pretty cool.

Yelp
The beach is not what is used to be ...very sad to say that it is very dirty and there is a very small ,very shallow area you are allowed to swim in :( I miss how it used to be in the 80"s :)

Yelp
First of I'd like to give a thumbs-down to Reserve America and NYS for providing outdated maps of this campground. The dump station is not where shown on this map but instead is over by registration booth. Extremely tight fit and sharp turns make it difficult for larger RV's. Some campsites shown on map no longer even exist but instead show as not available on RA map. They're not available because they're gone...replaced by a new bath/shower house. Kudos on the great new building but you took away prime beach sites. I realize the maps are not to scale, but it's ridiculous to show a bath/shower house that looks like it's in a field 100 yards away from a campsite when it's actually 20 feet from the campsite (on a hill). Our site 104 was supposed to be 50 ft back-in but the driveway was actually barely 30' and backed into a hill. Width-wise we were barely able to park our RV due to the culvert which ran through the campsite and took away at least 40 sq ft of usable space and our view of lake. Not to mention we were camping with others who had the site next to us (103) and the culvert made sharing difficult. In addition to the culvert, we had a manhole and drainage ditch running through our campsite. Although we weren't on the beach our campsite was full of sand - no grass - and sand fleas had a field day on our feet at night and in the morning. Hard to believe they even rent this to people. We checked out a day early and the girl in the reservation booth asked us why. When I said it was a horrible campsite and expounded, the man behind her (he was lounging, reading the paper with his feet up) said "Oh well. We've never had any complaints before." REALLY!!! It sickens me that our tax dollars pay people like this.
