Breakfast at Cupitol is perfect after a rough night of booze and boisterous shenanigans. The pancakes/waffles/french toast here are leagues above other nearby breakfast spots like Yolk and Wildberry but without the horrible wait times.

Went there on a Sunday morning, and it was fairly empty. They have a bunch of seating, both indoors and outdoors. The person at the counter seemed a bit distracted and got my order wrong, but were gracious enough to accept their mistake and get me a new drink. The ice vanilla latte was just okay. It wasn’t bad, it wasn’t great. I want to try some pastries as well, but the choices on that particular day looked underwhelming. Maybe they have a better selection on other days. I did not try any of the food, but it looked good.

Was in Chicago for the weekend and wanted a nice morning beverage. Luckily I found this place because it was awesome! I was recommended the chai latte because they make their own in house.. it wasn't too sweet and had the perfect spice. My husband got the cold brew which was delightful. Was only going to get drinks but saw their pistachio almond croissant and couldn't resist. It had a lovely creamy filling that also wasn't very sweet which was a nice surprise because you'd expect it to be but I was so happy it wasn't. So delicious and would definitely recommend.

Google
What a hidden gem!! Their food was incredible, and there were many vegan and dairy-free options. The vegan avocado toast was so delicious and filling, and the burger was amazing. The inside was super cute, so much seating in casual couches and chairs. They also have outdoor seating, but not with this cold weather. The staff was super fast and attentive, as well.

Google
Came here for coffee and pastries and was not disappointed. The pistachio and almond croissant were so good. The pistachio stuffed with a light cream and almond with paste. The flat white was perfectly done. It was busy on the weekend, hectic and loud. You pick up your order and are seated. Sofas, chairs or tables. They have a breakfast menu with eggs, omelettes, sandwiches, pancakes and more.

Google
The berry mascarpone French toast is the only thing really perfect on the menu. Rest of the items lack one or the other in some ingredients or flavor. I enjoyed my visit and will be back, just don't forget that French toast. Staff is kind, but also not. Love the water on tap, easy and refreshing.

Google
Great self-order breakfast spot! No complaints about the food, and they were affordable prices too. Vibes are also great to work from here or to read a book. You can choose to sit at a table or at the couch lounge area. Highly recommend!

Google
I love this place, and I truly enjoy their coffee and baked goods! But today… I’m not sure what was going on. This was the second time I’ve had a strange experience in a shop recently. The waiter who took my order made me feel uncomfortable — his behavior towards me was just off. I honestly don’t know if it was because I was wearing my hijab or something else. Thankfully, the rest of the staff were very kind and welcoming, which I really appreciated. I will definitely come back again, but I truly hope to always be treated with respect and comfort, just like anyone else.

Google
it’s loud and the type of place the cashier yells when your drink is ready - I felt bad for her bc it’s already so loud no one can hear. they serve “macchiato” traditionally (it’s just a shot of espresso), but it’s not a traditional Italian place so it makes no sense. it’s one of the better rated breakfast places near The Loop — options are limited. i got the sweet potato breakfast bowl. it tasted better than it looks, but that’s not saying much bc it looks like dumpster poo

Yelp
Love this little neighborhood coffee shop. You order from the counter and the workers are always so nice. It's a nice big open space and we always seem to be able to find a table. They had fresh flowers on some of the counters for the holidays. Very pretty. The Matcha latte and chai drink were both very good. My friend had a croissant. She planned to only have a few bites and take the rest home, but it was so good. She finished the whole thing!

Yelp
On our last morning in Chicago, we were wandering around and came upon Cupitol on E Illinois. Simple exterior with big windows peering into a quaint space to scoop up a quick bite. Cupitol is a coffee house/shop at its core, but also has the feeling of a small restaurant or eatery. Their menu features all the standard coffee shop bites and drinks from bagels to espresso and pastries, while also featuring a bit more from fresh lemonade, breakfast sandwiches, poached eggs, pancakes and more. You order at the counter and then they assign you a table, which is where your items are delivered. We went with lemonade, breakfast sandwich and country Benedict. The sandwich was bacon, egg and cheese on a warm and crispy croissant, delish! The Benedict was essentially biscuits and gravy topped with a poached egg. It was tasty, but had a few "flaws" from the egg being a bit overcooked and the biscuit being a tad tough. Still tasty though! Lemonade was tasty, but tart. Service was stellar from the counter to the food runners, everyone was friendly and helpful. Overall, we really enjoyed our time at Cupitol and have added it to our Chicago list!

Yelp
Cozy vibes at Cupitol Coffee & Eatery when I stopped by on a chilly November Saturday. The place was buzzing with people stopping in for coffee, breakfast, and pastries. There is an ample amount of seating, split for guests ordering a full breakfast and lounge seating for those grabbing a latte and pastry. Staff were welcoming and quick to take as well as deliver orders.

Yelp
This location is much more comfortable than the Loop location in that it's more spacious. The restaurant has a sophisticated, upscale vibe, but the prices aren't really out of line from coffee shops in general. I ordered a butter croissant to take home later and it was delicious. When I stopped in it was late morning, around 11 am, so I missed whatever rush they may have earlier in the morning. No parking except possibly street, and only a few at that.

Yelp
I order from here very often and today they "swapped" the original croissant with a MEAT croissant. I do not eat meat and no one told me this when I picked up my order and it was not noted anywhere. I bit into it thinking it was a butter croissant, but it had meat stuffed inside. I don't feel like I can trust this place anymore. They swapped my croissant last week as well with another sweet croissant and I didn't realize until I got home. That is quite frustrating because if they didn't have the one I wanted they should tell upon pick up, but they didn't and still charged me for it...

Yelp
Wow this little hole in the wall is easily missed in the hustle and bustle of downtown Chicago! We popped in on a Saturday late morning and the line was out the door. You order at the counter and find a table, or wait for takeout. As busy as it was, I was impressed at their well oiled machine! We ordered a smoothie, latte, iced tea and scrambled eggs with chicken sausage. Everything was clearly made in house, including caramel syrup for my latte! The chicken sausage was delicious!! Would definitely highly recommend!

Yelp
First time at Cupitol today with my family. Very spacious, warm ambiance, service is good. We arrived for breakfast, and I ordered the midwestern omelette. Orange juice, eggs, and hashbrowns were all good--but I REALLY enjoyed my toast! It was thicker, probably a sourdough--very fresh tasting, nice touch. Overall, I would recommend.

Yelp
I absolutely love this cafe which is located in Streeterville location. My friend and I recently tried this place for quick coffee and bite to get over our morning hangover. We ordered an Iced Latte with Almond Milk, Cold Brew with vanilla syrup and Vegan Avocado Toast. The food was really good, the avocado toast was served on pesto and hummus which was pretty tasty. I particularly like this place as it offers a variety of Vegan friendly options. They have huge seating space as well with sharable tables, and couches. It is a good place to try breakfast options and coffee!

Yelp
We stopped here early on a weekday morning for a quick breakfast. It was bustling with diners and to-go orders. Looked like a fun place to catch up with friends or work for a while. They had a wide selection of fresh pastries and we got a Pistachio almond croissant. It had sooo much filling and was soooo delicious!!! We got a shroomed omelette plate, it came with hash browns and toast. Everything tasted fresh and good. We also got a two egg breakfast platter, came with sweet potato hash, toast and chicken sausage - all very good. It was a lot of food overall and we enjoyed it!! Would definitely recommend this place!

Yelp
Went here for the first time and loved it!! The chocolate croissant was perfectly flakey and just enough sweetness from the chocolate. My new favorite iced coffee is their Freddo cappuccino - tastes unlike any other iced latte and it's perfectly sweet. It's also a huge location, perfectly to work from home or meet up with friends. Great cozy vibes inside and the baristas were very friendly.

Yelp
Friendly employees. Cozy environment. Great coffee. What more could you ask for? The cortados were perfect and the latte art was too cute! The pastries and food looked good too so I will definitely need to come back and try them. I loved that they have a clear glass wall so you can see where they make the pastries. The table area is a bit cramped but very comfy. Overall, it seemed set up well for catching up with friends and coworking with a community table and outlets near the tables.

Yelp
Have only had takeout from here but it always hits the spot. The avocado toast is delicious. I love their coffee, it's always brewed well and you can tell that they use good quality beans.

Yelp
I was pleasantly surprised at how good this place was. Usually food by Navy Pier is touristy and just basic, but this place was delicious. We came in a huge group, more than 30 people, staggered. I thought it would take a long time for the food to come out, but it came out pretty quick. The burgers are especially good. Their smoothies and drinks were good. The seating area is very nice and great for large groups. I will definitely be returning.

Yelp
First of all, the ambiance is so cute and relaxing. Service was amazing. But the food and coffee... YUM! I had the salmon bagel and it was absolutely delicious. I had a difficult time choosing a coffee drink and the counter attendant suggested a drink that I immensely enjoyed. I would definitely come back. I want to try the almond croissant

Yelp
I stopped by here for a cup of coffee! They were the earliest to open in the area. The shop is comfortable for pulling out your laptop to work or playing their chess board. The open window allows you to look into the bakery too.

Yelp
So, I am in sales and made a trip up to Chicago to visit one of my larger rail customers. I asked my contact to give me a suggestion for breakfast catering. he immediately came back with Cupitol. Said they have the absolute BEST croissant in the city! (I later learned they bake them all in-house!). I went on their website, selected a bunch of great things, and noticed they offered a carafe of Fresh Squeezed Orange Juice; Check! Carafe of coffee; Check! Big box of pastries, Order of 6 sandwiches, Done! More drinks, etc. Great service and support. The made it EASY. Cost was very fair for what we needed. Pastries were stellar. I am taking the extra chocolate croissants home with me. Alex, Alexios, Israel- Thank you all very much for the stellar service and support today! Was tremendous. I'm doing the same next visit to Chicago.

Yelp
Tasty food and cozy/casual but pretty stylish go-to place - I loved it in the university town. I was recommended by my foodie friend who said she only goes to this place when in town or Evanston. Yeah - I understood ! Amazing food, good amount of food and price is very fair mayor due to the university town where all hungry univ students go. My blueberry lemon pancake was amazing! This place is amazing!

Yelp
I came here on a Saturday morning for breakfast and was not disappointed! There was a line when I arrived but it moved fast. The cafe is spacious with a good amount of seating. While you are in line, they will let you know where to sit and bring out your food after you order. I had the Number 5 sandwich (ham, egg & cheese) - it was $9 so a little pricey for just a croissant sandwich but it was very good!

Yelp
I love Cupitol! They have come a long way in improving their menu. Earlier, the menu used to be limited but now they have expanded their menu. They now have a long list of coffees, teas and hot chocolate. They also have a log list of cakes and pastries. Their Cortado and Nutella cafe are my favorite. Amongst the pastries, I am a big fan of their almond croissant. They now also have a long list of alcoholic beverages and desserts. I love their mini tarts. The place has a lot of seating. It can get crowded on weekends. They don't have any service per se as you have to go and order at the counter and then go pick up your order once they call your name. Overall, a great place for brunch to casually get coffee.

Yelp
Walked here for Saturday brunch with the hubby while on our way to Navy Pier. We were in Chicago for St. Paddy's weekend and staying at a hotel just about a 15 minute walk from Cupitol so we decided to try this place since it has healthier options on the menu. I got the avocado toast with scrambled eggs, and hubby got the avocado wrap. For drinks I got a matcha latte with oat milk and hubby got the Nutella latte. We also shared a pistachio mini croissant! Everything was well-made and delicious! We really enjoyed our quick brunch. The ambiance is really good too, you can sit and dine at tables or you can lounge around on comfy couches! We took the couch and while sitting we saw many pedestrians/tourists taking a peek through the windows and deciding to eat here, which tells me it's a pretty popular spot for quick brunch or lunch! Very family friendly too! Will definitely return here when I'm back in town!

Yelp
Great service and great coffee. High end coffee shop. Nice seating and some coffee table games are around for anyone to play. They had a few gluten free desserts. It took us time to decide what we wanted. Staff was patient with us, made suggestions and was very nice. In New York people would be annoyed.
google avatar

Kory A.

Yelp
Phenomenal little stop. Smoothie was bangin, the scone was light, and just the right amount of sweetness. The line went quickly and the service was excellent! Will definitely be back!

Lynne M.

Yelp
Love the ambiance, service and coffee, but I was charged 12.00 and change for a large cappuccino and regular de-cafe with steamed oat milk. That was insane! We're not Manhattan!
google avatar

Maria P.

Yelp
They had me at freddo cappuccino. Just coming off of a trip to Greece, I was happy to see the freddo on the menu while I was searching for a breakfast/coffee spot near Navy Pier. It's basically a popular Greek iced coffee drink, which is very creamy and foamy and I fell in love with it during my time in Athens. This was within walking distance to my hotel and Navy Pier. Upon walking in, I was delighted to see the hip, open space filled with high top tables and cozy seating areas. The brick, the wood, the whole decor and servicescape is a vibe! I loved it. Customer service was quick and friendly as I ordered a freddo cappuccino and a ham and cheese croissant. I found a nice little cozy spot on a big, cushy chair to enjoy my breakfast. I enjoyed my coffee a lot and my croissant was also good and nicely toasted. It's such a great spot to just hang out and didn't break the bank at under $15! Highly recommend a stop here.

Yelp
Cupitol has a nice, ambient interior with plenty of table seating for a quick bite or to do a bit of work. Service is also fairly quick. However, I didn't find the food as impressive. The midwestern omelette was a bit bland and the scrambled eggs were a strange, cottony texture.
google avatar

Maggie M.

Yelp
Fun place to grab a coffee and a quick bite! I have been here twice and have not been disappointed! They have a great selection to choose from -- coffee, pastries, all-day breakfast, lunch menu! I enjoyed the avocado wrap and the iced latte! They also have a great, dog-friendly patio with enough foliage to block out the busy street. Service was quick!
google avatar

Dave C.

Yelp
Ordering at the counter is rushed because it's like they have a huge menu and it feels like you should sit down to consider it all. Also, selecting a table at the counter is very stressful and I think they should rethink how that works! Ham and cheese croissant was good, pretty standard. Iced chai latte wasn't great.
google avatar

Brian V.

Yelp
This spot was hopping the morning we had breakfast, but we moved through the line quickly and our food arrived quickly also. The name yelling by the staff was a bit off putting after a while, but service and comfort of the dining room were both great. Atmosphere was also cool.
google avatar

Karina A.

Yelp
Found this place through Yelp and it did not disappoint. The service is quick, efficient and all around great! Staff was welcoming and provided great customer service. The place is busy so finding a place to sit is a bit difficult. I got an iced vanilla latte and it satisfied my craving. I also got the falafel burger and wow!!! This is the first time I have a falafel patty that doesn't fall apart. The burger was flavorful, crispy bread, fresh veggies, and everything I wanted in a veggie burger. If you're in the area and want a quick bite, I highly recommend checking this place out!
google avatar

Yelp
Came here this morning to start the day with my sister and mom! They've both been plenty of times but I've never been before. I got a cold brew with vanilla and oat milk, my sister got an iced black tea, and my mom got an iced chai latte with almond milk. It's really cute in here and we didn't have to wait super long for our drinks. We all really liked our drinks, the cold brew was delish and I didn't feel too overly jittery after which is a plus for cold brew. Would definitely love to come back next time I'm in Chicago!
google avatar

Maureen D.

Yelp
The location was extremely busy, the staff was young with a chaotic vibe but they got the job done. The black coffee was 10/10. We had the CBH (corned beef hash) which was delicious. It didn't have much potato but the corned beef was very fresh. The European (a parfait) was sweet with honey and just as delicious for the eyes as it was for the belly. The homemade granola was wonderful.
google avatar

Tom W.

Yelp
The place is cozy, the staff attendant and engaged, and the food is inventive and interesting.

Iliana M.

Yelp
First time in Chicago and was looking for some coffee and a small bite. Came across this shop on Yelp. Upon entering I was greeted by the cashier and she had a really upbeat welcoming vibe that I loved! Food wise, I ordered the avocado wrap and added bacon (highly recommend) super good and cooked perfect I got the Nutella latte which tasted just like the name lol. I'm a big coffee drinker, I didn't taste much coffee in this drink but I'd just add extra espresso
google avatar

Mariya S.

Yelp
I like this place! I've been here a couple of times, every time I tried different things. Lox bagel was not the best in my opinion, I loved the ham and cheese sandwich and classic breakfast! Also their juices are great along with latte. My favorite dish here is Mascarpone Berry pancakes - must have!
google avatar

Lily H.

Yelp
Great spot close to Navy Pier. Order at the counter and find a spot in the restaurant for a quick bite. The menu was very big and everything sounded delicious. Coffee was 10/10 as well! Looks like a good spot to work, study, or meet with friends.

Matt Z.

Yelp
Worst grilled chicken sandwich I've ever had. Extremely dry and overpriced. Iced vanilla late was decent.
google avatar

Robert S.

Yelp
Food was great. Seating was good. No complaints at all. Coffee was good. Had a smoothie also. Very good. Went there on a Saturday morning. Seemed like a popular place.
google avatar

Tigui D.

Yelp
I am all about good service and this wasn't it. The girl who took my order was cold, short. Anyways.. the avocado smoothie was amazing and the was well made and delicious
google avatar

Yelp
The best pancakes ever! I walked into this place and said I love it! It has a great vibe and delicious smells in the air. Really great menu that should make everyone happy. Obviously I had the pancakes. Stack four high, light and fluffy with an incredible mouth feel. My friend had the classic breakfast with two eggs, toast, hash browns and choice of meat. Chicken sausage was a giant grilled link. Eggs were perfection, runny yolk great to dip the toast. Crisp hash browns, slightly salty and plentiful. Fresh squeezed orange juice rounded out our meals. Left happy and full! Plenty of seating inside and outside patio! Great find.... Will be back.
google avatar

Bassey A.

Yelp
Stopped by this spot because it was walking distance from my hotel in Chicago and I'm glad I did. Beautiful layout with plenty of table seating and a lounge area. I ordered hot chocolate and buttermilk pancakes with a side of sausage. It was all pretty good. Quick service and friendly staff! Great place to get some work done as well, I ended up staying for a little longer to finish up some emails.
google avatar

Grace Y.

Yelp
The space is surprisingly big and has a variety of seating options to choose from. Their menu is seriously astronomical--- you can have breakfast, lunch, or dinner at any time of day. I ordered the Country Benedict and while it did not look like a pretty meal, it was really really good. The pork sausage gravy was super milky and paired very well with the biscuits and poached eggs. Their pastry section was less impressive in comparison, and I would skip the Nutella Tart.
google avatar

Lisa L.

Yelp
Coffee was really good. Inside was clean and had nice amount of seats. Our order was taken and delivered to us quickly.
google avatar

Joanna M.

Yelp
This place was okay, i came with 3 other people. 3/4 people got their meals/coffee at a good time. But my friend got his croissant very late. He asked for it to be warmed up and they still gave it to him cold and he went for a second time and it was still cold. Finally when we all finished our meal and coffee the croissant was still cold but we just gave up at that point. It wasn't too busy either we arrived on a Sunday at 11am. The food was good overall, the smoothies were okay but they were also warm, and the latte was super strong, it was hard to catch the flavor. The service was good. I would come here for a good meal just not drinks.
google avatar

Nisha C.

Yelp
This is a lovely spacious neighborhood coffee spot. The food is always excellent and reasonably priced compared to some of the more expensive options in the area. The almond croissant is delicious and pairs well with a nice latte. This is a great place to sit and get some work done or to stop and have a nice lunch. They have healthy options that I have tried in the past including their protein forward breakfasts like the European bowl, pesto wrap, and my favorite gravlax bagel. There is a variety of seating and you can usually find an outlet if you come early enough :)
google avatar

Robin D.

Yelp
My new favorite place! Great prices and wonderful food. Big enough to always have plenty of room to work.
google avatar

Cara M.

Yelp
Counter order brunch food with awesome coffee selection, amazing sandwiches and desserts, self-serve still and fizzy water. The seating areas are great for sruding and just chilling. Fantastic space!
google avatar

Yelp
Stopped in for my wife's classic latte and decided to eat here while walking to another cafe - so glad we stopped here. The classic breakfast w ham off the bone was SO good, wish I could fuel my day with that every morning. My wife had a classic the Greek yogurt bowl and loved the homemade granola and fresh yogurt! Staff is also super friendly!
google avatar

Wendy B.

Yelp
Food is yummy but portions are small and prices big. Ambiance is super cool but unfriendly to people with laptops. Chai tea latte is super watery.
google avatar

Michael H.

Yelp
My wife and I really enjoyed this place. Great proximity to my old place at 530 N Lakeshore Drive in Streeterville and right down the way from Navy Pier. Solid coffee drinks and yummy food. Try the salmon bagel or the curry bowl. Definitely would recommend!
