Both my wife and I had an altogether most memorable experience staying here. Our host Henry and his wider team were most tentative to the needs of all the guests. The house is so full of character and enchantment. The breakfast was great, a great start to the day ahead, along with the afternoon tea and superb cakes. In the evening you enter a dining nirvana for dinner. Henry rings the bell for 8pm to highlight that dinner will commence. Both nights both my wife and I utterly enjoyed dinner, so don’t eat too much cake at afternoon tea. The grounds are spectacular and so full of beauty. I can’t fault the experience and we shall return again. Thanks again Henry and your team for being so nice and interactive.

Simply fabulous. This is old world charm the way it should be done. Henry is a warm and generous host and the food at dinner & breakfast is sublime. The views over the Lough are breathtaking, the walk through the forest divine and the sauna is just lovely (especially followed by a swim in the Lough). ||We loved it all. Our room (3) was dual aspect with great views, the afternoon tea in the front room was delicious and our dinners were simply gorgeous, with a lovely variety on each menu and wonderful presentation and service. |The breakfast sets you up for the day ahead. ||Whether you are active, or relaxing, there is something here for everyone - with excellent and charming hospitality. ||We will definitely be back

Currarevagh Housevis unique. |The family, June, Henry and Lucy, are a great team.|Front of house are June and Henry, warm, welcoming and professional. |House chef is Lucy whose food was fine and creative. |The house ,bedrooms, grounds and lakeside location all are reminiscent of another world, far from the maddening crowd. |Last of all, the lovely sauna by the lake. |This was all in all an experience that we will treasure until we return. |An authentic, genuine experience that was better than any other blue book stay to date.|Patti and Enda

We stayed at Currarevah House for 3 nights in late July. It was our second stay, and one we'd very much been looking forward to since our initial visit in 2014. It did not disappoint! Henry and his family provide the highest level of hospitality we experienced during our 16-day trip to Ireland. The food was without a doubt the best of any place we visited, a very talented and creative chef! The inn provides a glimpse of life in the country manor of a bygone age, with simple comforts, attentive team members (Anne Marie was exceptional!), beautiful walks along the lake, and a very welcome respite from our otherwise hectic trip. A particular highlight was afternoon tea served daily by the delightful family matriarch herself, with delicious, sweet treats and a welcoming manner we hadn't experienced anywhere else. I highly recommend Currarevah House if your journey takes you through Connemara!

We had the most wonderful stay in Currarevagh house. Henry’s welcome was warm and we were lucky with the weather and had a fabulous walk on well maintained paths before the delicious cakes for afternoon tea. |The gong for dinner goes at 8pm and Lucy’s cooking is outstanding. We had 2 exceptional dinners. Breakfast was delicious and I loved the homemade elderflower kombucha and the blueberry and honey preserve. |Henry helped our group arrange a boat to Inchagoill and we set off with a delicious picnic prepared by Lucy and with a kettle to boil on the fire we made on the island. Such a lovely afternoon. |The light it yourself sauna by the lake is wonderful! |This is not a modern hotel and not for those who want to lie in bed and watch TV (no TVs in the room). But we loved every minute of our stay.

This review is based on a 17 night/6 property Irish road trip, so is relatively objective.||I stayed 3 nights solo in June.||Located some distance from town with a discreet roadside entry sign, drive too fast and you’ll miss it.||Lovely lough side forested location, which is well maintained without being overly manicured.||Plenty of parking.||Henry, the current owning family member, is a perfect host without being over the top. He has a delightful staff, with Anne-Marie recognising and welcoming returning guests. That tells its own story.||This a ‘proper’ old school country house, with plenty of comfortable lounge areas to relax in - complete with peat fires when called for by the weather. It can only be described as being in a slightly faded time warp and not overly restored to within an inch of it’s life - and it’s so much the better for this. ||My bedroom was clean large, comfortable with an excellent bed and linen. There’s a turn down service during dinner - as mentioned previously, proper old school.||The atmospheric restaurant provided really excellent and innovative dinners. Breakfasts ditto. ||Plenty of walks in the grounds.||I’d return in a heartbeat if ever in the area again.

From the moment we arrived at Currarevagh we were transported to a calm oasis of a bygone era set on the banks of Lough Corrib. The house has been discretely and tastefully modernised as necessary. Everything feels understated and timeless. Henry and his family and staff were warm, friendly and professional. |Our room was spacious, the bed was super comfortable with an eiderdown duvet and a throw made in Co. Donegal. Toiletries are from Co. Meath. While the room didn’t have tea and coffee making facilities, there was a supply of filtered water. Sitting by the window reading with a lovely view of the grounds and lake was pure luxury. The drawing room and the library were also lovely spaces to sit in. |The complimentary afternoon tea of a variety of cakes, tea and coffee was very welcome and not to be missed. |Options for outdoor activities included lovely walks on the grounds or a swim in the lake followed by a sauna. This also seems to be a place for anyone interested in fishing judging by the record of fish caught alongside the visitors book. |Dinner is a set menu of fine dining served at 8pm, but alternative requirements can be accommodated. The bar offers a wide variety of options at prices you would expect. |Breakfast was a continuation of the excellent hospitality and cuisine. The buffet included a variety of fruit salads/compost and bircher porridge. There was a unique menu of three breakfasts made to order. |Even though we were just there for one night, we felt like we had been away for a week. It was well worth the treat.

Exceptional country house on Loigh Corrib. We stayed 2 nights (3 would be perfect). Easy to make friends with other guests. Great location. Loved the food throughout - definitely the best Irish breakfast on a 15 day trip. Great sauna, lake swims, garden walks. Well placed for Connemara locations. Will return!
