Google
They do charge by person and not by car. This park is on the smaller side, but they do have bathroom, one shelter and swings. They beach area I wouldn’t recommend for families with kids as it was hard to go up and down for the dune area. The view was beautiful and we saw a few crabs. Compared to other parks I would recommend for kayaking or to walk in the trails. But not for a beach day.

Google
Very quiet and a nice retreat from the busy city work life. Park is well-maintained and very clean. Camp grounds are by reservation and gate code is necessary to enter and exit. RVs and tent campers welcomed.

Joshua L.

Google
Very nice park with a beach and kayaks/paddle board rentals available. The sand bar is relatively close where all the boats and PWCs stop and you can easily swim to kayak there. The island across from the park is super nice as well with a bunch of palm trees and coconuts.

H. Y.

Google
Almost 5 star review if they had full hookup. Enjoyed our stay riding bicycles, beach, watching wind surfers, very well maintained central shower facilities, would stay again. Warning the ants are incessant, first park in 2 years invaded our rv after every rain, which was frequent. No see ums bring your bug spray. Love the foliage between most all rv lots, privacy one of best parks we’ve stayed!!!!

Kathy N.

Google
It's a pretty place to visit. But the beach had a lot of the sargassum grass all over it. We arrived at low tide so getting in the water and walking way out was not an option. We'd tried to rent kayaks but the QR code did not work and there was no attendant available. We watched the surf boarders and sat in the sun w some shade from a clump of small trees.

Kevin S.

Google
What a lovely place to walk around. We saw some amazing animals & beautiful birds. Some good practical advice would be to make sure you download the map, carry plenty of water & bug spray. Well worth a visit!

Drew M.

Google
Such an amazing place to relax and refresh. We were fortunate to be there during Hawk Watch 2025 and learned a load of information about migrating raptors.

Michele G.

Google
This park is wonderful to camp in. Well spaced camp sites, clean facilities and a nice beach to relax at. It is really nice for day use as well. Marathon is one of my favorite keys and is easy to explore by bike from this park. The staff is super friendly and welcoming. W

Yelp
This is the perfect campsite, clean, great views, and a nice beach. They have a shaded picnic area. The park rangers face a presentation to children and others while I was there regarding local wildlife.

Van H.

Yelp
Very nice parking area for November but it may be too small for busy months. They close at sunset and make sure you leave in time. They have RV campgrounds but I did not see them. They are behind security gates.

Yelp
A beautiful park that has fantastic kayaking. We came here for the day in our RV. The parking lot is small but they have four RV spaces so we were able to get one. Kayaking is very popular here and they have rentals. We have our own kayaks and gear . There are two recommended kayak trails and chose the mangrove tunnel trail. Oh what fun we had! We saw millions of baby jellyfish in what I can only describe as a jellyfish nursery back by the mangroves. We also saw all kinds of fish and many white horseshoe crabs mating. The trail is not long and can be done in less than an hour but we spent hours out there. So many kayakers just passed through the middle and did not venture into the mangroves to see all the sea life. Their loss. We will definitely be back while we are in the Keys to do the other kayak trail, and also check out the sandbar party and the hiking trail down the road.

Allen M.

Yelp
Beautiful park. Stay away!! Good people working here and nice camp sites. Hope we can get in some day. Would be nice to have a small area fenced in in the big grass area so puppies can run free. Favorite park of ours to visit
google avatar

Renee N.

Yelp
Such a beautiful state park that sits between Key Largo and Key West. We stopped on our way out of this area for one more walk on the beach and feeling that warm ocean water. I believe it was $5 entry fee, lots of parking. Picnic tables, clean bathrooms and rinse showers available. We took a nice walk in the water and saw lots of crabs, colorful fish, jellyfish and a large horseshoe crab. The water was so clear and clean. Lots of mangroves and the park sits across from a huge compound owned by Bass Pro Shops. It is covered with gorgeous palm trees and a private beach. This park is a great launching area for wind surfers and I watched a few take off. Definitely a nature filled day can be spent here swimming, exploring, eating or just relaxing in the fantastic Florida sun! Enjoy!
google avatar

Athena K.

Yelp
There aren't a lot of walking trails here, but there's plenty of other stuff to do. There are small strips of beach, you can rent kayaks, and there were people swimming, even though it is winter and locals think freezing,
google avatar

Melissa N.

Yelp
It is a lovely park, even though, I thought it was going to be a much larger park. The beach is beautiful. It has crystal clear water. I visited just to explore. I was actually looking for the trail. After researching, I found out the trail is about 1 mile or so outside the park. I decided to not do it. I popped in during a Sunday morning and it was a calm day. Curry Hammock is mentioned frequently as a must-do place in the Florida Keys. So, I had to check it out. The admission price is $4.50 for a single person. Maybe I was there early, but there was absolutely no one around me. There were very few people paragliding and in jet skies. There are many great photo ops here. I did not go for a swim, but I went inside the water. The water was cooler than I expected, but I had fun. Overall, the state park is gorgeous. I would definitely visit many times more.
google avatar

Kim W.

Yelp
What a hidden gem. $4.50 for a day pass, the park is clean and has decent parking for beach area. They do rent kayaks and have a small campground for RV's. There are hiking trails and pavilions for rent. The beach area isn't huge but really quiet which is super nice. The water is clear and has ample sandbar areas for playing in the water. This is a nice alternative to the busier beaches on the Keys.

Yelp
AMAZING!!!! My hubby and I loved it!!!!! We absolutely LOVED IT!!! we took the keep and camped out with water view. The park is super clean and the restrooms are super cleaned. You can rent kayaks and paddle boards as well as bicycles. The bicycle trail is across the street from the park because it stretches all the way out about 90 miles. The beach water is BEAUTIFUL!!! Perfect for water activities and it was the perfect temperature. The camp grounds have electricity and water. The plus is that it's gravel and not dirt. We had such a wonderful time that we plan to make this our main spot to camp our jeep tent. The NEGATIVE!!!!!! And I wish we would have known is the gnats!!!! OMG!!! They get in even with a net!!! So BEWARE!!!! Bring "no gnats" spray!!! We were itching like dogs with ticks for about 4 days! Today is day 5 and we are still itching even after ointment treatments. But besides that my love and I were able to enjoy a wonderful time here. Making memories together. :))))

Yelp
Clean beautiful park with restrooms, beach and trails. Great picnic sites and views from this State Park.
google avatar

Naomi G.

Yelp
Beautiful Park. We really enjoyed spending the day there and appreciate all the people who maintain it.
google avatar

Shelley S.

Yelp
Peaceful, pretty natural setting. We rented a double kayak for $21.50. They recommended to go right across the beach. We chose to go left to avoid the ocean and just enjoyed the privacy of the inlets and the mangroves. We had a picnic under the shelter facing the beach. We walked the trail. Great day!
google avatar

Laurie M.

Yelp
This park offered precisely the kayaking adventure we were seeking. For $40, we rented two kayaks for two hours, and paddled all around, including through the mangrove tunnel, which was thrilling. Twice we spotted a group of manatees, swimming gracefully very close to us. The check in process was simple and we had our choice of kayaks. Clean restrooms at the kayak area as well. Highly recommend!

Yelp
Sept 2020, We had the pleasure of camping on sight 16 for 2 nights. What an awesome view. Shower & bath facility was clean and well maintained.
google avatar

Yelp
Great state park except get ready for roots. Lots of roots, nice views and a surprising amount of people.

Yelp
Curry Hammock State Park is a Florida State Park, located along both sides of US 1, starting at mile marker 56.2 on Crawl Key in the Florida Keys. Very small but beautiful park with a great beach and a few covered shelters to sit and get out of the sun. History and Culture: This land became a state park in 1991 and is named for Lamar Louise Curry, a revered Miami teacher, whose father, Thomas, purchased large tracts of land in the Middle and Upper Keys. Two miles of the Overseas Heritage Trail pass through the park. This is a multi-use trail which follows the route of the Overseas Railroad, providing foot and bicycle access to Marathon. The Florida Circumnavigational Saltwater Paddling Trail also passes through the park.
google avatar

John M.

Yelp
This state park was the closest one available to us where we were staying while in Marathon. It does not get as much press as Sombrero Beach or Bahia Honda but we enjoyed this park as much as any of them. The primary reason I liked this park was that it was not busy and allowed you to enjoy the beach, water and natural surroundings at your own pace. I recommend going at low tide as the water pulls back to reveal tons of sea creatures such as snails, crabs, horseshoe crabs, fish, etc..

Yelp
My wedding photographer found Curry Hammock after many problems finding dog friendly places. She and her assistant arrived before us, and spoke with the lady at the check in. They told her what we were doing and that I would have my service dog with me. She clearly wasn't happy about it as she reminded them that they close at dusk. Now...for non-islanders, dusk is the moment the sun disappears. When we were there, that was around 8:30 as sunset starts at 8:15. When we got there, the lady attendant in the booth rudely told us they close at 8. Not 8:01, 8:02......and more. We said ok and went on to meet our photographer. As we were getting out and headed to the beach in our wedding beauty, another worker lady stopped to say hi and to offer any help we wanted. We were lucky enough to get to meet her again when we came back a couple days later. She was so kind and helpful and I didn't feel a moment of discrimination about my service dog or sexual orientation. She simply treated us with respect and was so fun just to talk to. She should be in charge. We stopped at 7:55, despite the lack of sunset we were wanting for pictures. We loaded our car and we're getting in at 8:03. Up comes snotty pants to literally point at us and then jerk her thumb as if to say, "Get the F out." Not a word. Just a rude thumbs gone. I have to say it takes a pretty unhappy person to be rude to a bride in her wedding dress and adorable service dog in hers! Overall, it's a very pretty little beach, but I'm not sure it was worth the bad treatment during our late wedding pictures thanks to Covid canceling our actual wedding.

Yelp
Great location. Place is well kept and the Staff is very nice. Mo complaints other than the reservation site completely sucks.

Yelp
This is a great park. I rented a kayak and my wife a paddle board. It was $38 for 2 hours. You can kayak to some Sunken islands or through the mangroves. The beach is not bad. It does get weedy at deeper depths. There are modern bathrooms at the beach, drinking fountains and a vending machine. There are picnic tables and grills at the beach. There is camping as well with modern showers. The entrance fee to the park was $6 for 2 people for the day. There is a nature trail across us 1. It's pretty rugged. Make sure to wear shoes. There is view of the bay from the end on the trail. Be careful there are poisonous trees as well.

Bob M.

Yelp
Did the trail. The trail head is not in main park. It's at mile marker 55. You can park safely and it's 300 yards to trail head. It's a very nice shady walk through different types of terrain. Lots of lizards and birds but we didn't see any snakes. Look for hidden treasures along the way. The Baypoint view is beautiful and worth the walk.
google avatar

Sinem A.

Yelp
Excellent quiet beach with Georges view! The park has a lot to do. For instance, sports fishing, kayaking, paddle boarding, wind and kite surfing, bicycling etc.. or it has calm and nice beach for kids as well as a park. We found many attractions in Peace!
google avatar

Stephen M.

Yelp
Great for kids to find critters in the shallows. An ideal spot to rent a canoe and go out on a clam day and if you have a snorkel and flippers can easily get out far enough to see fish. Benches and BBQ pits are available
google avatar

Callie M.

Yelp
This was a very cool way to experience the keys. The walking trails were very nice and had a variety of "difficulty" (meaning some were wider than others and some were made of loose rock and some were through the trees). The view points were beautiful. The upkeep of the museum and the historical sites was great. This was a great way to spend the morning.
google avatar

C G.

Yelp
My first trip to marathon and this is the second beach that has too much seaweed. Aside from looking dirty, it stinks. Everything else is great. Playground and swings for kids and a nice picnic area.
google avatar

Hannah S.

Yelp
The beach was OK given it was only $6 but the trail on the other hand was horrendous. My mom and I (both very athletic and great with direction) looped around 3 times in different places on the trail as there are NO direction signs anywhere and also trails people have made leading off the main trail. It is not clear at all what the main trail is and what is made by other people. Very nerve-racking as I continuously hike back home and have no problem navigating those trails. There is one sign warning about poisonous snakes and trees yet the trails are completely covered by shrubbery. Very disappointed in this trail as its been something I've always wanted to do. Could not imagine this would be a trail for beginners or even anyone that isn't pretty athletic as the trails are extremely rugged and uneven.
google avatar

Dawn B.

Yelp
Cannot wait to go back for kayaking. Our initial visit was to scope things out. Only $6 to get in. Beaches and facilities are beautiful. Kayaking is cheap ($22 for a two-person kayak for two hours); and the waterways there were beautiful. The whole park seems to be a hidden gem. I'll also be back to do some hiking.

Scott T.

Yelp
Fantastic unknown get away. My wife researched cheap activities, and this did not come up on the search. We found it by local knowledge. Not crowded. Kayaks for rent, which can be used on a route around the park island. Nice beach to walk around. We got here just before lunch with a NE wind, which kept the water clear near the mangrove and coral - great for beginner snorkeling. The kids found a lot of small fish. Has 4 covered picnic areas, playground and swing set; as well as a few picnic tables under the magnificent trees. Seems to be a regular setting for kiteboarding (I overheard some of the kiteboarders comparing areas); which does add a little activity to the area. Everyone is very respectful of each other. Very nice bathhouse. Some of the waterfront has small shells, but I don't think you need water shoes. I'm hesitant to give too good of a review, because people will find this gem.

Tiffany M.

Yelp
This is not a beach! It's more for kayaking and water sports. Due to it being a state park, you have to pay to enter and it's not worth it.
google avatar

Amy M.

Yelp
Great state park. Nice beach area, playground and bathroom facilities. Kayaks are available for 2 hour rentals. Campgrounds are clean.
google avatar

Buster H.

Yelp
This place was awesome! The beach was better than sombrero and we rented Kyacks for only $22.00 dollars! There is a mangrove tunnel that was surreal. The bathrooms were new and very clean. There was a group of kids that were on a nature type tour and were collecting sea life and putting them into plastic bins. There was a very large horseshoe crab in one of them. My boy really gat a kick out of that.
google avatar

Kerri G.

Yelp
Enjoyed this beach tremendously! Nice picnic areas, clean bathrooms and outdoor shower. Some nice little snorkling spots too :)
google avatar

Susan Y.

Yelp
Beautiful view of a ocean, but I would expect that from almost anywhere is the keys...super shallow water. It would be nice for toddlers who aren't big fans of the ocean, but for my 8 year old who loves to swim, not so much. Great playground, great picnic shelters (5 total) with barbecues, other picnic tables, and super clean bathrooms. The natural trail is a hike from the parking lot, and across the highway, so we skipped that. Sadly, there was a small vessel warning so the park wouldn't allow us kayak rentals.
google avatar

Melissa C.

Yelp
So after coming here after going to Bahia Honda I wasn't impressed at all!!! The beach area was tiny and there was about 6 kite surfers and one crashed on the beach while we were there, I wasn't letting my kids swim with those!!!!! SO basically we paid $7 to eat our donuts and play on the playground for 30 minutes, definitely go to Bahia Honda unless you are going to kite surf.
google avatar

Vicki P.

Yelp
We stayed at this quiet little campground for 5 nights in late September. Very nice sites, very large and private compared to other state parks we've camped at. Our site had the extra space for a tent which I loved having. I thought I would be able to see the water better from my site but the dunes are very grown up so not much of a view. No worries, the beach was only a short walk away. The beach was very natural. I'm kind of a beach snob so I didn't swim in the water here. Too much grass. We did rent kayaks at the park which was very easy to do. The water is clear for viewing underwater life. Saw a couple of rays and manatees while out on the water.
google avatar

Kimson L.

Yelp
Like all campgrounds along the Florida Keys, the $46/day including taxes is pretty much the norm here. The only different is Curry Hammock SP Campground surrounded by water and iguanas. Campsites are graveled, leveled, and very clean. Thanks to tentative camp hostess! The electric/water pedestal at campsite are convenient and dump station is near the exit. Two gates are required code to enter, kind of overkilled if you ask us. Bathroom is centralized, modern and very clean. The campground is small but the sites are wonderfully spacious. Access to ocean will require you to wade through bunch of dead sea grass before a cool dip. We suppose a single sandboni machine can clean up debris, so campers can at least enjoy the 100ft long beach near picnic area? Kayaking access is very good, although there is conflicting rule about dog is allowed on kayak and but prohibit carry a dog across the 5ft beach to your kayak! WiFi is none existence, LTE is slightly weak. We have booties on our dog to combat sand burrs due to other reviews, but thorny ball of weeds are everywhere; campsite, picnic area, roadsides, and trails, etc. May come back if there are no other option.
google avatar

Sandi S.

Yelp
Warning: do not take the nature hiking trail. Well...you can take it, but don't plan to find a bench to sit, bathroom, or to see any pretty scenery. It's a jungle in there! My crew and I kept having to look down at the bumpy coral trail. I can't exaggerate this enough. Bumpy coral trail... The beach was pretty! I wish I could rate the nature hike and the beach separately. A quiet beach with plenty of picnic tables.
google avatar

Herb A.

Yelp
Beautiful area to explore and spend a day. The large female ranger had no idea the state laws and was extremely rude, don't know how she's even employed at this beautiful park with such a bad attitude.
google avatar

Anastasia O.

Yelp
Just wasn't what I was looking for in terms of activities today. The beach has a lot of algae & seaweed so it wasn't ideal for swimming. I saw some brave enough to go thru it but that's not my cup of tea. They do have kayak rentals here which is nice. It's smaller than I expected. I also couldn't find a trail & I thought I read somewhere there was one here. The staff at the guard gate was very friendly. They do accept credit cards to pay for parking. $4.50 for a single person, $5 per vehicle for 2 or more persons, & I don't remember the rest but you can find all prices on their website. There are some shaded areas with picnic tables. If you go right & follow the beach along it's really quiet & nice. Good for a picnic or reading a book but not for laying out.
google avatar

Paul N.

Yelp
It's a small but really nice beach park along the Overseas Highway (US 1). Entrance fees will vary depending on number of occupants in the car. There are a few covered shelter and picnic areas as well as a kayak/canoe launch. Not too bad of a Florida State Park!
google avatar

Eloise N.

Yelp
Very nice campground site. Park hostess lives right on site and is very friendly. There are crabs everywhere! Not just blue crabs, but we found about 5 hermit crabs. There are also iguanas roaming around. My favorite part of the park was the large empty area, which I'm guessing is for primitive camping. Noone is ever there so my group and I let the dogs roam free, and then at night my girlfriends and i took some blankets and went star gazing. This park is great :-)
google avatar

Nicole B.

Yelp
First time here and it was lovely. The water was great , nice park and restrooms by the beach area. You can kayak , hiking , fishing , campgrounds etc. I highly recommend it. Def coming back
google avatar

Sergii S.

Yelp
Very basic park for the price they offer with tons of mosquitos and other different bugs trying to get your soul, definitely can find something better than this one, my first and last time here.
google avatar

Emily E.

Yelp
We stay here for the whole week of mini season each July. The sites are large, clean and easy to get in and out of. The bathrooms are extremely nice for a state park. The toilets are waterless, which is weird at first, but you get used to it. The waste composts underneath. Don't choose a site close to the bathroom though. The camp ground had a nice beach. The water is very shallow and you can't get a boat up to it, but you can launch kayaks. The bottom is mucky, not great for swimming, but you can snorkel. They do not allow "outdoor appliances" like refrigerators or ac units. We have a unique cooler with taps for beer, that sometimes the hosts do give us a hard time about under that rule, but it is a non electric cooler, with ice. It's just huge. Most of the time the hosts are great. One year, the guy was a huge jerk and followed me into the women's restroom, while I was showing, to inform me that check out is at 1pm (it was 12:45). Other campers complained about him too, so hopefully he's not allowed back. Overall Curry Hammock is a great place to stay and very good value!
google avatar

Kaffy C.

Yelp
This is a really nice campground/state park. We will stay here again. That said, there are some features I am not fond of. Lots of little information posts in the campground telling you about native vegetation & wildlife. Nice covered picnic areas at the public beach area. They rent kayaks but only for 2 hours at a time ($21) no full day price. But there are several places in Marathon that rent them for a full day. We rented a tandem one from "Wheels 2 go" for 24 hours for $49. We just threw it in the truck but they will deliver. The kayak turned out the be a life saver because the beach was gross. I know the keys beaches are not naturally sandy and they are full of seaweed but there is no way we could swim in the water off the beach without wading through at least 100 yards of muck first. We tried. So, do yourself a favor and get a kayak and paddle out to the giant sandbar that is only 1/4 mile off shore from the kayak launch. It's a smooth, calm distance. We did it with our 4 year old daughter between us easily. The sandbar is beautiful, clear, waist deep and clean. Lots of other people and boats out there too but not crowded. Pack a lunch and spend the day if you can stay in the sun that long. Campsites are great. Level gravel, grill, cement surrounded with eye hooks embedded into them could come in handy as tie downs, picnic table and two 6x6 posts with eye hooks for laundry drying line, hammock, etc. Some are more private, some closer to the water with partial views and some seem just out in the open. Small park I think there are only 28 sites. We were on site #2. I wanted one closer to the water but am very happy with where we are. It's more secluded. With our camper set up and the truck parked across the front of the site you almost have total privacy. Which came in very handy since I ended up showering behind our camper with the outdoor shower feature after the first night. This is the first campground out of probably a dozen we have been to where I have refused to use the bathroom facilities. They built the campground in 2004 so I think the idea was to be more eco friendly since they also have solar panels, which I can get behind. However, the bathrooms have composting toilets and are on the second floor so I don't know how much is accumulating down there but it's a giant black hole of stank. There are signs everywhere to keep the toilet lids closed. I can't imagine what it would be like if they were not. It smelled so bad I can't use the toilets or the showers. I used the shower the first night and between the smell and the water being so dreadfully hot that I was sweating while in the shower I refused to return. I think there was something wrong with that shower because the water was HOT even though I had it all the way to cold. I know the cold setting is going to be relative to the outside temperature but it was not. It was hot, heated water. This felt awful after being in the sun. So thankfully we had that secluded spot and I was able to take advantage of the outdoor shower without much fear of flashing the neighbors. But exclusively using the bathroom in the camper brought up another problem. There is no sewer on sites, just a dump station. We stayed here for a week and after day 5 our tanks were full. We don't have one of those rolling poop tanks to take to the dump site so I had to move the whole camper and dump it. I considered getting one but at $100 for something I probably won't use again I couldn't do it. Of more concern was where will I store it?? We don't have a lot of storage space and those things are big and gross. No thanks. We don't usually camp for more than 5 days at a time. So, this is a great campground that had some things that didn't work for us which may not be a problem for others. But overall we had a great time and it's a great place in a wonderful location.

Tarren W.

Yelp
Great park with a little bit of sand to lay out on. Bathrooms were a plus! Water was clear and swimable but not the aqua blue as seen driving in.

Sam B.

Yelp
Very quiet and secluded. Great to get away, lovely little beach and picnic areas. Kayak rentals and nice channels to use where you can spot iguanas. It's a very small park with few campground sites so it very intimate and meticulously maintained (so clean!).

Yelp
Lovely kayaking. We saw all kinds of wildlife. The park rangers were friendly and very helpful. The beach and water are very pretty.
