The food here is absolutely amazing. I'm just getting into Indian food and this is some of the best I've ever had. The people in this neighborhood seem to agree, because when I came in on a weeknight, the place was packed and to-go orders were flying out the door.
I'm trying to get myself to try new things on the menu, but it's hard when you find a dish you love so much.
Here are my faves:
Sampler Platter: If you're new to Indian food, (or just don't know what to order) start with this. The spit roasted chicken and lamb are moist and tender, the samosa is delicious and those potato pancakes (can't recall the same) are excellent when dipped in the tamarind sauce they serve on the side.
Butter Chicken: thick, tender cubes of chicken in this creamy, heavenly, tomato-based sauce. And since there is so much sauce, there is plenty left over to dip your garlic naan in. And you will want to do that. Trust me.
Chaat Papri: a delicious mash-up of flavors and textures. It's like a culinary kaleidoscope. "Street food" never tasted so good! Try it!
Shrimp Biryani: Gloriously aromatic rice, mixed with nuts, dried fruit and plump, juicy shrimp. The execution is WAY better than my description, but I urge you to give it a try,
Chicken Soup: Wait whut? I know, I know... this was the last thing you expected to find on my list of Indian food faves, but hear me out. This is not your mama's chicken soup. It's a boldly fragrant, lentil broth-based soup with finely diced chicken that will warm your bones and simultaneously whoop up on any nasty germs hanging out in your system. I've had a bad cold for the last few days and this is all I've been craving. Another Yelper mentioned how amazing the soup was, and it piqued my curiosity. Now, I'm paying it forward. Go get you some of this soup. You'll thank yourself later.
Garlic naan: Naan and garlic. What else could you ever want?
This food is amazing. You gotta try it.
