Lovely seafood restaurant in Oxford where we tried the mixed fish grill for one and the Mediterranean fish soup. It’s a bit pricey considering the portions aren’t very big, so you may want to order a few dishes per person to feel full. Overall, the food is nice and the service is ok.

The place looks a but rundown but the food was good and the service amazing. The scallops were delicious, the calamari rings a bit soft while lobster a bit overcooked. The chips were great though.

It was my first time dining at Cuttlefish. I made an extremely last minute booking and the staff were kind enough to accommodate that for me. Not only that but the staff are friendly, attentive and warm. The food comes in more than reasonable portions and is absolutely delicious. If you are looking for a place to dine out in Oxford where it’s not going to break the bank but get top quality service and food then Cuttlefish is where you need to head.

Visited on a Sunday night, and it wasn’t too busy, which was nice. The atmosphere was great, and the service was attentive. However, the portion sizes were smaller than expected, especially given the high prices. If the portions were larger, the cost would feel more justified. The food itself could have been better in terms of taste and flavor—nothing particularly stood out. Overall, a decent experience, but there’s room for improvement in the food quality and portion sizes.

The food here was great. We shared the bread basket starter; this was good, although I would expect the butter not to be those little pats one might associate with hotel breakfasts. I had the roast lamb special whilst my dining partner had fish and chips, and we both enjoyed our food thoroughly - the portions were huge, and neither of us managed to finish. We did have desserts, which were definitely homemade - the sticky toffee pudding was so fluffy and light, and is the best sticky toffee pudding I've had anywhere. We finished with tea. What lets Cuttlefish down is the service. I tried to book in two different ways - through the contact form on the website, and through the Fork app, which is what Google recommends. Neither of my reservations were confirmed. Nevertheless, when we arrived, the restaurant was empty, so we were promptly seated. About halfway through our service, the waitress took her break and was replaced by a waiter, and we had to call him over each time we needed him rather than him coming over. As a result, we were actually in the restaurant for two and a half hours. Overall, the food was excellent, the price was good relative to the quality and portion size, and the service was okay. Would recommend.

I absolutely love this place. The atmosphere is lovely with twinkly lights and the staff are so friendly and knowledgeable. We always get the seafood platter (we think of it as an extravaganza). It’s good value and the quality is second to none! Easily the best seafood in Oxford and the surrounding area. Get the calamari it’s better than in Greece!

Small portions for a big price but the food was good and the service friendly. There even have been vegan options. We visited on weekend for early dinner. It was not too full.

Had a great lunch here with my daughter. Seafood linguine with lobster. Excellent value, on the menu of the day. Good service, wasn’t busy, food was tasty and I will go back with my other daughter😀

Cuttlefish is an absolute gem! During my three-month stay in the UK, I tried fish and chips from countless places, including Ahmed's food truck down High Street and various spots around London (including some way overpriced spots near Hyde park). But nothing compared to Cuttlefish. They serve the best fish and chips I've ever had--no joke. On the last week of my stay, I found Cuttlefish and grabbed every friend and excuse to go back as many times as possible. Their muscle pasta is also to die for. I still crave it to this day. The restaurant itself is quaint and adorable, with tastefully themed decorations that add to the charm. If you're ever in the area, you have to check this place out. The service is great and attentive. Trust me, you won't be disappointed!

I went in to have a quick bite but changed my mind when seen the lunch deal was on offer (and this is after 6pm!!). Friendly waiter showed me in and explained various menu options. I opted for the full course - a starter, main, and dessert but to be honest portions are decent and only two would have been enough. The food itself was nothing short of delicious! I have never associated sardines with a luxury meal but here we go, wrapped in bacon and accompanied by a salad it was something. The rest of the meal was just as good.

We had a wonderful meal here: food, service, and ambiance were all perfect. I had the fish & chips, which was delicious (possibly the best chips I have ever had), and my husband had the paella, which he loved. The staff was friendly, prompt, and kept on top of our needs while also giving us plenty of space and time to enjoy our meal. Finally, the decor and ambiance were lovely (check out the clever lampshades), too.

I ordered the fish and chips for home delivery. Tender and moist fish in a crispy crust with chips, served with tartar sauce -- the best f&c I have found in oxford.

Good, but not worth all of the high reviews. Food - We had the tapas plate for starters, this was the winner of the evening. The balsamic onions were amazing, and everything else on the place was generally good. All strong flavors, but good. We also had the artichoke starter, but were less happy with that. The choke was over cooked (mushy) and the flavors only so-so. For mains we had fish and chips, fish cake, and a roasted place. The fish and chips were good, well cooked with a good batter, but not the best we have ever had. The same is true of the fish cake, good, but not exceptional. The place was more of a success. Service - Attentive and friendly, but a little slow. The restaurant was only 1/2 full but we had to wait a long time for our dishes. Ambiance - Fair. The day was hot and the interior of the restaurant was 10 degrees hotter than outside. They needed to set up some fans or do something to cut the heat. Conclusion - Good, but we won't make a point to come back. I think there are better options available.

We happened on this gem of a spot and found the best fish and chips an American in Britain could ask for! Delightful.
