We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at CW Worth House. What a beautiful home. The history is so rich in this area and this old victorian mansion just completed the entire picture. This home has so much character and is decorated beautifully. I actually felt like I stepped back into the early 1900's. I could just picture the original owners walking around in their poofy dresses and buttoned up suits, smoking a cigar in the library, strolling through their backyard after a nice evening in town, sipping wine on the front porch, entertaining guests in their dining room, etc.
Ok, enough about the fantasy aspect...The place was very lovely and they are located in a great area. They are walking distance to basically everything downtown Wilmington has to offer but they are not right in the center so you do get a little more peace and quiet. They are on a main road however so I did hear cars/trucks passing pretty much all night.
We were greeted immediately upon arrival and the innkeepers Doug and Margi were very friendly. Margi had printed out several options for the weekend including various shows, wine tastings, bands playing, etc. She gave us a map of the area and showed us where all the "hottest" spots were. They had everything you could possibly need at your disposal...menus from local restaurants, games, books, a game room, snacks, water, etc. They also put out a bottle of wine at 5pm to enjoy in the evenings. Our "romantic package" came with a bottle of champagne and tickets for a horse/carriage tour in the city.
The room we stayed in was huge and had a King sized bed!! The bathroom was in the room which was great. There was a TV on the wall but it was pretty small so you almost needed binoculars to see it. However, they do have a larger TV upstairs in their "common room." The bathroom was pretty small but all of the amenities were available--soap, shampoo, makeup remover, hairdryer, etc. Really, they had everything!
Breakfast was served at 9am on the weekends--which was perfect because it wasn't too early or too late. They serve everyone at the dining room table so you are eating with the other guests. It was a nice way to meet other people although that may not be enjoyable to everyone. Everything was made fresh and was done very well! The first morning we had a little apple cake, fruit and the main course was a blueberry stuffed french toast type casserole. It was served with thin sliced ham. The second day we had fruit and a spice cake and the main meal was an egg frittata type dish served with two pieces of bacon. The egg had cheese and herbs in it. Everything was wonderful! My only "complaint" would be that it wasn't enough! I love a big hearty breakfast and this was done very well but just not very filling.
All in all everything was just lovely. We spent some time in the yard on the Hammock and on the back deck as well. This was before "busy season" so I am sure once all the flowers bloom and the trees are in full effect it is even more beautiful.
Our stay was very enjoyable, it was quiet and peaceful and just easy. Everything you want from a B&B. I would come back and I would highly recommend this place to anyone visiting the area!
