When Cwm Connell says it is a dog friendly destination, they truly mean it! Emma and Alex give you such a warm welcome upon arrival, and the cottages and their website are full of information to make your stay a pleasure. We stayed in Fron Haul cottage, with a double and a twin bedroom. The patio overlooked lush farmland, and the morning birdsong was wonderful when sitting with a coffee. The open plan living area has been fitted with top end fixtures, with oak beams, stone tiling in the kitchen area, velvet sofas, stylish lighting and solid oak flooring. The Nkuku crockery (ethically sourced) is lovely, and the kitchen has everything you might need for self catering. A welcome pack greeted us, with locally produced items, and Emma brought in vases with garden flowers to add to the welcome. Lighting the wood burning stove in the evening was a treat. Beds were super comfortable, and the bathroom has a double width shower, green plants and underfloor heating. |And for our dog..? Well, he had a welcome pack too, including bowls, throws to put over the furniture, dog towels, even a bespoke dog tag with the cottage contact details on it to wear in case he got lost whilst on holiday! A secure four acre paddock, with mown pathways and glorious sea views, made exercising our Labrador easy. After long walks, either down to the sea or in the countryside, there was a place to wash him off and spare towels.|Walking from the cottage was a delight - the woodland valley path, full of wild flowers, literally started steps away from our cottage and went down to Ceibwyr Bay, a shingle beach with a waterfall and a stone clapper bridge. Longer walks from there take you onto the Welsh Coastal Path and stunning routes by the sea. We booked the shared free hot tub each day so that, on our return from long walks, we could relax in private, overlooking farmland and listening to birdsong. In fact, Cwm Connell is the perfect place to remember what real peace and quiet sounds like - really good for the soul! There are also plenty of places to eat nearby (to drive to), and Cardigan (15 minutes by car) |is a lovely place to visit, still retaining a busy high street with lots of interesting independent shops. All in all, we had the perfect long weekend, and would recommend Cwm Connell wholeheartedly.
