Fascinating museum, well laid out and with a real family interest for me as my grandfather landed here in 1944. The views over the remains of the Mulberry port from the museum only add to the ambiance and feeling of history. The audio guides are very good and helpful to understand the importance of this site.

This museum is an absolute must-visit. I went in with my fairly basic knowledge of the events of D-Day, and came out with a much better understanding than I had ever expected. The museum is full of projections, models, and artefacts that give clear but still highly detailed accounts of the events before, on, and after D-Day, on all five beaches. I really highly recommend this excellent museum.

Really interesting and informative museum. You can wear a headset and there are information points where you listen to accounts from people who were in Arromanches at the time. It was a very moving experience and the museum overlooks the beach where you can still see parts of the man-made port. Definitely worth a visit for both adults and children. The gift shop is excellent too.

Updated museum in 2023 detailing the events leading up to D Day and the concept and use of the Mulberry Harbour. Exhibits well presented and good audio guide in many languages. Location in iconic area overlooking Gold beach and the remains of the harbour. Good views from roof terrace . Highly recommended

Very nice place with lots of stuff to see. You can choose out of a lot of languages to listen and watch. It was very busy though and I recommend coming early so you can park somewhere.

Never been to old museum so can't compare the two like many seen to do. This was a very interesting place to visit and I learnt some new facts about the harbour design abd construction. Only gripe was listening to an annoying woman talking on her phone - ironically English! Like any museum visit for the true history buff it would be best when quiet 🤫

Google
This museum is exceptionally well-designed and located right in front of the beach, offering a stunning view of the remains of the floating bridges, which adds even more impact to the experience. The exhibits are incredibly detailed, featuring archival footage, models, and historical reconstructions that truly transport you back to the events of June 1944. It’s a must-visit to fully understand the key moments and locations of the D-Day landings. The museum’s layout is well thought out, and the combination of short films and audio guide explanations provides valuable insights, making the visit both engaging and informative.

The whole experience is totally worth the effort to get there. Using local transport as we did. The buses are irregular, you could end up with only half an hour. We had several hours enjoying the exhibition a walk along the front and lunch in a cafe. A local tour could cost 150 euros or more.

Yelp
The Musée du Débarquement (D-Day Museum) at Arromanches was the 1st museum built to present the events from June 6, 1944 onward in Normandy. It was funded by the sale of the wrecks littering the surrounding coastal area, the museum was inaugurated in 1954. D-Day Museum is in front of the former artificial port & explains how the artificial port facilities were constructed & used. First, a line of floating breakwaters (metal boxes in the form of a cross called Bombardons) was deployed. A pier was constructed by using the freighters on site, with huge 1600-6000 tons of cement. Floating docks were installed in the bay, connected to the mainland by floating roads. Docks & causeway rose up & down with the tide, offering a clearance of several meters. The functioning of the port is explained through a model inside the museum. We started with a :10 film that retraced the stages of design, construction and assembly. Vivid images evoke the storm of 19 to 22 June which nearly destroyed the construction. Behind the museum and on the beach, we saw the metal remains of the artificial harbour's floating road.

Yelp
I first went to the D Day museum as a teenager on a school trip many years ago and was surprised to find as an adult that it hadn't changed at all. In the case of a museum like this I don't think that is a good thing. There are some museums whcih have made great use of new media and technologies to enable a more modern 'audience' to engage with the past and I think the staid approach needs updating. The crucial exhibits about the building of the Mulberry harbours using the model layouts rely on the skill and language ability of the guide who is explaining them to the audience and this can be variable. Unfortunately this place is probably best for those with a genuine interest in the Normandy landings rather than a casual tourist as it is at present. For most the 360degree cinema nearby is more accessible.
