I happened to be in the area, and made a last-minute phone call for a booking. They fitted me in, and I sat at the front in the window seat. How lucky was I! I chose a beautiful pasta dish with prawns, and it did not disappoint. The flavours were just sublime! I finished it off with the tiramisu, which was Just as delicious. This little restaurant has so much atmosphere, and Luigi the waiter was brilliant! Brilliant neighbourhood Italian restaurant 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

Google
Cannot fault a thing. Excellent food, excellent ambience and excellent service. Everything tasted fresh and homemade. Pizza was exceptional. Staff was very friendly. One of the best Italian restaurant in Australia.

First dinner when we came to Hobart and I reserved the seats as I heard that a lot of people recommend this place. Staff are super friendly and nice and took our order quickly. My parents are absolutely amazed by the first bite of the fettuccine! So yummy and creamy! We had Alla Panna fettuccine, seafood risotto, sweet chilli chicken and frosolone, calzoni prawn and tiramisu. Everything is extremely delicious! Mum loves the fettuccine most and dad’s favourite is the pizza. Love it love it love it! A must-go restaurant in Hobart!

Took the window seat, if coming with friends, recommend you to take the bench, just right behind the window seats. All food is good and they did not take too long to bring up the food. The only thing that is I ordered pumpkin filling ravioli by accident, which isn’t my favourite.

It was my first time visiting Da Angelo’s, though my family eats there regularly. I now see why they rave about it! The food was delicious and prepared in a timely fashion. Our waitress, Stella, seemed genuinely happy to be there and made us feel welcome throughout our meal. Although I forgot to take photos, the Creme Brulee was also delicious. Make a reservation, as it’s bustling.

Amazing Italian food! I haven’t had such amazing Italian food in many many years! Everything we ordered was amazing. I wish I was here another night so I can come here again.

Google
Delicious Italian food, the service was great. We came without a booking on Sunday night, luckily they gave us a table. Will come again when I visit Hobart

Google
We're looking for an Italian restaurant to enjoy dinner, and this place came up as a suggestion from Google. It's found at Battery Point in Hobart. The setting is charming, and the staff, especially Angelo, the owner, are very friendly. We really enjoyed the pizza; the crust was delightfully crunchy. We would love to visit again!

Yelp
Another 5 Star Perfect visit to Da Angelo's. Fourth visit in our fourth visit to Hobart....here's to a fifth in 2025! We have learned that if you are thinking about going make a reservation as soon as you can. When we arrived Angelo was working. We all smiled. The place was packed. Everyone seemed to be celebrating birthdays and there were mainly locals. We ordered our regular pizza. A large Fraraccio, no olives, no anchovies, add onion, capers and oregano. A simple salad with an Italian vinaigrette. The salad arrived and in its simple form was beautiful. The pizza arrived and now we know this 'ugly' pizza is delicious. It has taught us over the years to not 'judge a book by its covers!'. We ate until we almost could and then remembered the Tiramisu. We put our forks down and asked for a to go bag. It is great at room temperature and few hours later! We ordered the tiramisu, it arrive and it was art on a plate. And as delicious as we remembered. Oh my, not a morsel left and finished with a complementary limoncello delivered by Angelo. The restaurant is homey as it gets. The staff are so friendly and competent. It's like one big happy family. The food is great. Prices are reasonable. Highly recommend. Make Reservation.

Yelp
First timers, who hope to come back! Call for reservations, or arrive 5-10 minutes before opening and grab seats by the window, which are first come, first serve--four counter style seats with foot rest below; also one small booth for two or three.

Yelp
The best pizza in Tasmania. Service with a warm welcoming family feel. Incredibly welcoming and comfortable ambiance.

Yelp
When my hotel made the reservation, I was given the impression that I would be seated at the communal bench rather than a table. As my table was at the small corner by the soda refrigerator in the front, I wish I had been seated at the communal bench. There were takeaway customers seated by me waiting for their order. As I enjoy people watching, I had thought it was the worst area of the restaurant to do just that. Fortunately, my waitress was super nice, friendly and provided helpful recommendations, for dinner and places to visit during the rest of my holiday. She made me forget about the terrible table and the guy near me who waited a significant time for his order. Due to her recommendation, I had the Bianco with the Nicolina's Special, entree portion rather than the main. My waitress made sure to warn about the amount of garlic in the sauce. The potato gnocchi and the squid rings absorbed the garlic butter sauce so well, I did not realize I was eating squid if it was not for a few crunchy bites. Although I did not need it, the smaller entree portion gave me an additional excuse to order dessert. I was ready to order my Italian default dessert which is tiramisu, but I asked my waitress for her recommendation as she has yet to fail me. I instead ordered the special which had to been concocted by a chocoholic, a chocolate pudding covered with warm chocolate sauce and served with vanilla ice cream. Enough said. I knew it would not be American style pudding. The dessert resembled a warm, very moist cake. Due to where I was seated, I could not flag my waitress. On the other hand, there were two employees huddled by the bench for table. One clearly noticed me fiddling on my phone as we exchanged eye contact. Eventually, my waitress came by to check on me.

Yelp
The pasta was delicious and I really appreciated how they went out of their way on a busy night to give us a good experience and set expectations along the way. We showed up mid- week and the place was packed and had a line. With no reservation they said 90 minute wait! I asked about take away and they lit up and said yes and even though that would take awhile they offered options for getting part of the order faster and advice for where to walk while we waited. It all worked great and the food ( pumpkin ravioli, spinach gnocchi and pesto bread) were delish! They turned what could have been disappointing into a positive experience!

Susan K.

Yelp
Should make clear that reservations are ESSENTIAL! Don't embarrass yourself by walking in and having the staff summarily turn you away -- even early on a Monday night! We would have been happy to do a takeaway -- which apparently was possible but never offered. Staff was too busy shooting us away . . . Welcome to Tazzie

Yelp
Everything we tasted was amazing. The Chianti was superb. The garlic bread was cut up into little bite size pieces The BEST gnocchi I have EVER tasted, even better than anything we tasted when we were in Italy. Each piece just melted in your mouth. AMAZING! The minestrone was ok. The peas were a little undercooked. Then for dessert, I was craving the Creme brûlée but my drunk mouth asked for the tiramisu. All i can say is I was pleasantly surprised. Overall, great service and a lovely Italian feel. Make sure to eat here!!

Yelp
This is the best pizza in all of Tas and you are making a mistake by going to other places in lieu of Da Angelo.

Sue G.

Yelp
Food may be good, but a few years ago I was there - one of the staff members gave me BAD service and was rude. Went there for take away pizza, while I was waiting the man making the pizza said to his colleague "she should be eating flied lice", I guess I had to cop that 'joke' because I am Chinese. Wow, so hilarious, what a comedian! yeah NO, stick with making pizza dude. I rang the manager as soon as I got home to let him know, but he instantly defended this staff member, without even checking. I was so annoyed I think I lost my appetite. In hindsight I wish I had asked for my money back and got take away elsewhere. I can get great pizza elsewhere without the annoying jokes. I like my pizza crispy and cheesy and oh yeah, without the stupid racial mockery, thanks. Sue Gao from Hobart TAS

Yelp
Great Italian food! You will never be disappointed when you are looking for pizza, and pasta and many other traditional Italian foods! They have a massive range of traditional and modern wood fired pizzas. They make all their own pasta and I personally love the carbonara, get it almost every time!! Love it! But make sure that you book ahead, this place is always busy.

Peter V.

Yelp
The best and busiest pizza restaurant. If you want take away best advice is to ring to place your order. Parking can be tricky. There's not much room to wait for your order but there are hundreds of photos of celebrity diners to look at - mostly Carlton AFL.

Yelp
There's a line out the door for a reason! Such popularity shows a great loyalty of customers as well as enough sway to get newcomers in as well. I am no local to Hobart, but on my last 4 trips to Tasmania in the past year I have always demanded a visit to Da Angelo's. Amazing attentive staff, very sociable environment and the owner is the most charming and accomodating man you could ever meet! Definitely recommend booking, all their pastas are delicious and very generous portion sizes! Great great spot to dine!

Kim D.

Yelp
MAKE A DINNER RESERVATION! We went on a week night thinking we'd get in but it was already booked for the night. We made a reservation for the next night since we were just here on vacation for a few days. I'm glad we did! Food was excellent! Service and atmosphere was also very warm and friendly. Well worth the visit!

Yelp
One of my favorite restaurants that I had discovered while traveling. Owner and staff made you feel like part of the family. Amazing service, amazing food. Amazing atmosphere . Restaurant is in a neighborhood and parking was available although it did get busy once we arrived. I would recommend making a reservation.

Tamer M.

Yelp
So we tried to get in on Saturday night, but it was completely full. So lesson number 1 book. If you don't book you won't find a table. The next night we booked and got in. The staff is extremely friendly. As most of the people are part of the one family. The gnocchi is hand made by two of the mothers. Literally. The food is amazing. Everything is made fresh, nothing is out of a packet. And let's just say that the cheesecake was sent by the gods. If you are looking for good Italian, look no further. But book. Trust me.

Linh D.

Yelp
All the hype is worth it. Super chilled out staff. We had the garlic pizza bread, always a solid starter. And then split two pastas, a seafood linguini and the gnocchi. Both were excellent.

Yelp
After a couple of failed attempts to get a table during our visit in Hobart, we finally got to dine at Da Angelo on a Sunday night, our last night in Hobart. And the place was still pumping! Now don't get me wrong, there is nothing fancy about this place. It's standard Italian fare. But tasty Italian fare based on want we sampled. To start we shared a small garlic cheese pizza, because the husband loves garlic bread/pizza. It was tasty but perhaps a little too garlicky (especially as the garlic was "raw" apart from the grilling). Next up, I had potato gnocchi (entree size) with bolognese sauce & the husband had the Originale calzone (small size). I chose the gnocchi based solely on the recommendation of our delightful waitress. She told us that one of the owners mothers, who is an 80-something year old Italian woman that speaks next to no English, hand makes the gnocchi with her family recipe! And can I say, it was pretty darn fine gnocchi - it was light and airy and not at all stodgy. The sauce was nice, nothing to write home about, but good. But that gnocchi - brilliant! The husband enjoyed his calzone as always. And we washed it all down with a couple of Peronis (him) and a glass of red (me). The best part about our experience however was the service we received from the lovely lady who was working her last shift before moving to NYC. If the rest of the staff are as lovely as her, they are on a winner!!

Yelp
Old school Aussie Italian food. There will be dough, and you shall be filled! More a date night venue than just casual eats though.

Chris S.

Yelp
WOW! Truly authentic Italian food. All the food is prepared onsite "no pasta sauce from a jar here" including home made bread and pasta. The wait staff was friendly and service was fast considering that your meal is prepared just for you. Highly recommend.

Monica B.

Yelp
We are in town for a few days and heard how amazing this place was, so we stopped by. It's kid friendly, they gave the kids complimentary ice cream cones after dinner. Waitress was extremely friendly. Pizza and ravioli were my favorite

Adrian C.

Yelp
Lots of hype and recommendations for this place. Can honestly say it's worth it. The place was too busy to find me a table but set me up at the bar at the front window. A brilliant, quiet spot. Herb bread for entree. Served in bite sized pieces. Top quality. Main was spaghetti carbonara. Normally a carbonara sauce makes you feel bloated. With home made pasta and sauce that wasn't the case at all. Great flavour and just the right consistency to leave you satisfied but not feel as though you've eaten an entire cow. Tiramisu for desert. Perfect. Flavoursome but, again, not too heavy. This trip has shown me that Hobart leaves most on the mainland for dead with pub style dining and pricing. This restaurant deserves all its hype. You're mad if you don't try it if you're in town.

Yelp
Came here on the last night of our Tasmanian holiday. Everything was fantastic, especially the gnocchi (which is made by the owners mum's each week apparently). Highly recommend the creme brulee as well!

Bruce M.

Yelp
WOW!! Just had a fabulous meal at Da Angelo's. Great service, great drinks, and delicious food. We shared the warm olives and bread appetizer. Both were great, but the house made Pane was excellent. I had the traditional spaghetti carbonara which is one of the best I've had. My wife had the house made fettuccine with Matriciana sauce, which I sampled, and was excellent as well. We both enjoyed the meal so much, that we made a reservation to return on Sunday.

Lisa D.

Yelp
Ordered takeaway pasta and a garlic pizza. Everything was excellent. Great service and foos

Rosamond C.

Yelp
Amazing pasta! One of the best I've had. I ordered a macaroni with chicken, sun dried tomatoes, and a tomato cream sauce. All homemade pasta. So delicious. Service was a bit slow, but the food was worth the wait.

Meg W.

Yelp
Excellent service and delicious food! We were warmly welcomed by the staff the moment we walked in and felt right at home. I ordered the gnocchi and it was melt-in-your-mouth devine!

Renee M.

Yelp
Some of the best minestrone you'll taste---ever. Really superb. Also ordered herb bread and pasta with bacon for my son as a takeaway. Our son was thrilled with everything. Busy place inside, filled with locals saying hello to one another. Good place for Italian food when you're in this part of Tasmania.

Kathleen M.

Yelp
Soo good! I ate a huge portion of spinocchi (sp?) - which is rare, because gnocchi is usually rather boring. Not here! Freshly made and perfectly prepared. Good wine and friendly service made this a perfect night out.

Barry T.

Yelp
Without doubt this is a great place. We visited recently with a party of 9. Seated speedily the service was great. The food menu is extensive with pasta, cotoletta, pizza's and more available. Our table ordered a variety of food and on a mid week night the place was full. There is the front of house area, the down stairs area and there is even an upstairs dining area. The wait was a fair while possibly an hour! Of course they were busy, but no one checked how we were doing. Upon apprival the drinks order was taken immediately and their drinks prices includiing wines are quite reasonable. We had a house special a Tassie local wine for less than $40! The entrees (pasta) and most other dishes are high $20's or even $30+ for entrees. Personally we found this to be too high. The main sized dishes are only a $3-5 more. (Hint) order the main and takeaway the remainder. Entree sizes were OK but Main were far bigger. The wait staff were extremely attentive and we never lacked water and never had to ask. Pizza's were OK. The range is standard however they dont even have a Meat Eater which I like. $18 or so for a small is a bit Ex'y. However the place is always full and they can charge what they want. Well established, close to the city and many tourists visit, this is as I said earlier a Hobart institution. The best part is that you can look out in the back kitchen and see Nonna make her famous gnocchi!

Yelp
Top Shelf Italian restaurant in Hobert, Tasmania. The Ravioli di Carne was excellent. Service was very friendly, more so than I expected for me to be dining alone. They took care of all my needs. What drove this post to a 5th star was the hot pizza dough bread delivered to my table. I'm not sure if the bread was special but it's worth asking for if not. It's a very flavorful bread and complimented my Ravioli was nicely.

Neha S.

Yelp
So I heard about this place through the other travel review website which shall not be named here and this place had the best reviews. As I was in Hobart on a cold chilly night I naturally craved a little Italian... food, i thought I should just clarify that just incase.. So this place is always really really busy so book inadvance to avoid waiting or worse having to settle for takeaway! This is a family run, cosy establishment, which is reminicent of Italian hearty home cooking. We started our night with wood fired pizza bread which comes in 3 sizes so you can get an entree size and not feel guilty about eating like Chewbacca (apologies May the 4th has just passed).. I naturally ordered a pasta main dish which was fresh pasta with a light tomato sauce with bacon that was divine and the husband ordered chicken with a mushroom sauce which was beautiful. Ofcourse after eating all of this we both decided we have to have the desserts, so we ordered a tiramisu and creme brule with pistachio ice cream.. I think I would like to blame our indescretion on some kind of food drunkeness, but I digress. The desserts were really great, the creme brule was creamy with the top which cracked like glass when you bit into it and a perfect balance of sweetness. And on top of that the staff was warm and friendly and when you are on a holiday that makes all the diference.

Kelly D.

Yelp
Classic Italian with the Italian homey feel! The food is consistently tasty and the staff are also always great. The owner is wonderful and always ensures everyone is happy. My favourite Italian place in Tasmania!!!

Alanna B.

Yelp
Have always loved this place and have celebrated the best occasions with family and friends here. Food is always so good, service so friendly and personal. Also, the best pizza in town for takeaway.

Mick M.

Yelp
3 stars just because parking is a pain. food is similar to Paesano Pizza And Pasta in west hobart. i think they are cousins or brothers! service is ok.
