"Loko Wraps is perfect if you're looking for something cheap and cheerful to eat in the Captain Cook area of Hawaii Island. It's a Hawaiian take on Mexican tacos and burritos, with local meats (or jackfruit for veggies!) and tangy sauces infused with island fruits. As well as the meat, the wraps (which is what the burritos are called) are filled with coconut rice, salad, and slaw, but no cheese or avocado, so they are filling but don't sit heavy in the stomach. Juices and smoothies are available, too. Try the dragonfruit lemonade if you can—it's clearly but subtly flavored and not too sweet. By AFAR Traveler , AFAR Contributor"

Great lunch spot close to Manini Beach! We stopped with 9 people mix of adults and kids and everyone found something they loved. Highlights were the Kalua nachos, Bang Bang shrimp, vegan nachos and Açaí bowls. They also have a range of ice creams and smoothies. Everything amazing and the two people working were so helpful!

Sooooo good! A must go. We stumbled on this gem after snorkeling. The woman that helped us was really sweet and the food was amazing. The pork Lau Lau was super authentic and the kahlua pork was divine 😍

Wasn’t the biggest fan of the jackfruit bbq, too much salt. But everything else was delicious. Note for the management - this location needs another worker because it’s taking one person forever to prepare food. For-e-ver. And it’s not his fault.

Friendly Service. The vegan nachos were delish. The sweet heat is on point. I ordered mine with no mushrooms and added cheese. 👌🏾

We got a few plates to share. The portions were big but everything tasted very very good. We found a quiet table overlooking the highway and the valley and coast. Very memorable! Note that this is a small stand inside a strip mall between Ace and Choicemart. No inside seating. Takeaway only.

Didn't get a chance to try because it was closed. We went to shaka tacos about one minute away and it was tasty!

Came by recommendation. The place itself is small with few tables, so we ordered to takeaway. We ordered Kalua Pork Nachos and Chicken Quessedila, and worth the price. Portion is big, fresh, no problem with it. Extra point for hot spicy Jalapeno. Really recommend to try the shakes as well, favourite was the Peanutbutter-Banana milk shake, fantastic. Parking is available, as it is located in a supermarket, sadly, that defines the "vibe" as well.

Yelp
Decent hole in the wall snack shack! The kiddos wanted some shaved ice and milk shakes so we stopped by after snorkeling. The little one ordered a small watermelon shaved ice, the older kiddo ordered a nutter butter milk shake and we also ordered a kalua nachos. The small watermelon shaved ice was a pretty good size, both of the kids couldn't finish it and it was tasty, they enjoyed it. The older kid enjoyed his nutter butter shake with macnut ice cream as the base, they were out of vanilla and cookies and cream flavors but he said it was good none the less. The kalua pork nachos were fine, a bit more on the sweeter side with the shoya and hoisin sauce, they asked if we wanted cheese and of course we wanted cheese because it's nachos but it wasn't melted cheese it was shredded unmelted cheese, which was a bit odd. Overall, we killed it because the kalua pork was tasty but maybe I was expecting it to be more of a savory dish not sweet. If we're in town and close by, we'd probably stop by for the shaved ice and smoothies/milkshakes.

Yelp
We went here because a poke shop we were originally going to with bomb Kalua pork was out. Portion sizes a great compared to the ratio! I was well stuffed and didn't have room for intended shaved ice (which also looked huge). I will say the pork was pretty dry but they have a bottle of shoyu outside that helped a bunch! It is in a sort of strip mall and just a food order window but there are some tables behind the shop with a great view!

Yelp
Dry kalua pig, the only moisture was the chili soy sauce I added. The rice was okay. My wife's fish tacos were either old fish or super dry fishy pieces. Service was meh. $35 and my wife didn't eat more than 1/2 of one of the three gross rubber fish tacos. I figured with all the good reviews and their name it would have been better. Learned my lesson. Name should change to Da Bum.

Yelp
I've been here a few times and been disappointed every time. First time I got the Kalua pig nachos. Not enough meat for the amount of chips and was very bland. I got the rib eye last time I went maybe 2 weeks ago and was very disappointed in the portion for the price. Again very bland. And to add the counter lady isn't very nice and doesn't even smile. Won't be back again.

Yelp
We were trying to find an açaí bowl after the captain cook hike which was brutal. My friend found this place which is next to a supermarket. Unfortunately the açaí bowls were sold out so we settled for shaved ice. Not bad and pretty cheap. For reference the one I got is the "small" and it was $4. I asked which flavor was the most popular and they said: strawberry, rainbow and bubblegum. I picked rainbow and it was pretty good. I didn't get any toppings but each topping is $1. They also have many other savory food items including pork laulau. My friend commented that the cashier could have been nicer but I didn't think she was rude. I would not go running back to this place but it sure satisfied the need for something refreshing after a long hike.

Yelp
Had my first pork lau lau here. I am not going to claim to be an expert on Hawaiian food or lau lau, but I am an expert on pork. It was absolutely delicious. Pig was tasty and juicy. Portion size was more than enough. I enjoyed my dining experience here 100%. Thank you very much for serving us!! My only advice/suggestion... scale down the menu and focus on your most popular, best sellers. Huge menu must mean big food costs for a tiny little place!

Yelp
We went to check mart to get some grocery and found this place and decided to eat without checking reviews since we were super hungry. One is garlic shrimps and the other one is laulau. The shrimps were very fresh. My boyfriend loved the pork a lot. They give you a big portion. We'll definitely go back the place again but some of the reviews rated very low, I wonder what is happening this place.....

Yelp
We have been to this restaurant a few times and the food is aways amazing. They have wonderful customer service. This place is very popular and there is always a line but it is worth it.

Yelp
the auntie at the register was super rude for no reason. i think she must have been having a bad day... she was short with us when she took our order, we asked for a container to put some of their spicy shoyu sauce in that they had available out front.. when asked the lady acted like it was a huge inconvenience and slammed the container down on the counter, then slammed the screen to the window closed. we were just standing waiting patiently looking over other menu items when the lady said harshly "you know it's gonna be a while"- that's okay, no worries, but it was like we were annoying her waiting for our food. we don't mind waiting at all, but to be made feel like we're inconveniencing you when we are just trying to support local and spread that aloha is pretty disappointing. one lady came up to look at their menu saying she worked downstairs, she asked the woman working the register what the different between the ohana sizes were, and the lady working snapped at her saying "it's on the menu". needless to say that lady took off without ordering anything. the seafood boil was bland, dry and lacked flavor. their mac salad was okay and portion sizes were fair. there was one lady working in the back/running out food that was pleasant smiled and said thank you as she handed us our togo, that was definitely the most positive interaction we had there. all in all will not be back. bummer because captain cook needs these little grub spots... givin it a two for convenience and portion size, but final verdict = not worth it. you'd be better off grabbing some poke or somethin from the deli at choicemart

Yelp
I have came here a few times now, each time has been equally disappointing. The food is just simply nasty, overpriced and questionable. I now have tried all their pork plates and not one of them have been good. Eat at your own risk.

Yelp
We just got home after eating at Da Bomb Grindz II, I believe it was called. It's the one by the Ace Hardware so I think there's another Da Bomb Grindz near there. Neither of our orders had the ingredients as advertised we feel. The fish tacos came in a cold soft tortilla and had only chopped onions (tons) and some tomatoes with sauce. Slaw was listed, but I don't think onion and tomato counts as slaw. Three tacos for $16 with chips was a fair price, we thought. Our other order was honey walnut salmon. We never found a single walnut, but maybe they were crushed up in the sauce. Usually you can tell if nuts are present and we could not. Cold fish with a mostly onion taste with onion flavored chips was not enjoyable at all. The women who were working there were not friendly. We are sorry we went and spent our hard earned money there.

Yelp
Love their delicious kalua nachos with unagi sauce and melted cheese. What a winner! Great snack that easily fills the two of us.

Yelp
We had the kalua pork...not great. Very disappointed with the quality of the food...flavor was boring. If we weren't so hungry it would have been a zero star rating. Also...they charged us $.25 for additional utensils. Food was already overpriced and then a stupid upcharge. Avoid this place.

Yelp
We loved the bang bang shrimp and my son got the sweet bread French toast nutella twice!!

Yelp
Loved the big, delicious portions but thought food was a bit salty. It seems many don't mind but my husband and I have reduced our sodium intake over the years as we've been told, it's a healthier life style. We are in our mid 70's and don't have hypertension! We hope to stay that way.
