Although it has been several months since my visit, it continues to be difficult to find the right words to describe Da Celeste. The usual parameters by which we are accustomed to assess modern dining seem pointless. Eating a local catch (all the better if suggested by the well-informed wait staff), drinking a regional wine, all seated on the terrace overlooking the Venetian Lagoon in the tranquility of the Island of Pellestrina, feels like the most natural thing in the world. It is only afterwards that you stop and realize that what you have experienced is inimitable anywhere else.
I am apprehensive to post this review, lest I contribute to Da Celeste being assaulted by the tourist mob that eradicates Venice's history and conscience on a daily basis. But I have resolved to post this more for me to document an ethereal experience more than anything else.
