"Memories of a Kingdom Central Vietnam was once the seat of the Kingdom of Champa, which held sway over the area for over 1000 years before being absorbed and annexed by the Vietnamese state in 1832. This fine museum has the world's largest collection of Cham artefacts and is a must visit for anyone with a wider interest in the heritage of the area."

A fascinating cultural gateway to the ancient Cham civilization and its living legacy. A compact, enlightening museum that is great for discovering the artistic brilliance of the ancient Cham people and understanding the unique culture of their modern descendants. Note: It perfectly bridges ancient art with contemporary ethnography in a very accessible way. Best for history buffs, art lovers, and culturally curious travelers. Personal Details to Remember: The eye-opening introduction to Hindu deities through exquisite sandstone sculptures, the revelation of dance's central role in Cham culture, the fun observation of Sanskrit's resemblance to "Lord of the Rings" scripts, and the insightful exhibits on the modern Cham minority and their distinct local Islamic traditions. Practical Note: The museum's layout, with ancient sculptures on the ground floor and modern ethnographic displays on the second, provides a complete and deeply respectful overview of Cham heritage from past to present. This museum does an exceptional job of making a specialized subject deeply engaging and relevant, offering a profound understanding that extends far beyond its walls.

This museum is exactly what it professes to be, a collection of ancient sculptures from the Cham people. The collection is amazing and a visit here works in well with a visit to the My Son site (personally, I’d visit My Son first). There is plenty of information in the museum if you’re willing to read but, do not expect to have your hand held to learn all you may want to know about the ancient history of the Cham, their religion, or culture. If you don’t have prior knowledge, perhaps do some reading before you visit. I found the staff to be friendly and helpful and enjoyed the collection.

Great place to know more about Cham sculptures. Strongly recommend to go before visiting My Son. The museum is large and many things to see, we have took almost 3 hours to finish all of them. This place provides a mobile apps with different languages which show audio and text description on the exhibition items, introducing the visual features, history and story behind, it allows me to understand the culture easily, very educational and convenient.

We visited the Da Nang Museum of Cham Sculpture during our recent trip to Vietnam, and it was a highlight for anyone interested in ancient Southeast Asian art and culture. The collection is impressive, featuring hundreds of sandstone sculptures, altars, and artifacts from the Cham civilization, dating back to the 7th-15th centuries. The pieces from My Son and other sites are beautifully preserved, and I loved how they showcase the intricate Hindu-Buddhist influences with detailed carvings of gods, dancers, and mythical creatures. The museum's French colonial building adds a charming historic vibe, and the layout is logical, guiding you through the evolution of Cham art. The staff were friendly and helpful, and the entry fee is very reasonable (around 40,000 VND). There's also a small garden outside that's perfect for a quick break. That said, it's not quite 5-star material. Some English signage could be more detailed or updated— I found myself relying on my phone for extra context on certain exhibits. It can get a bit crowded in peak hours, and the air conditioning struggled on a hot day, making parts of the visit slightly uncomfortable. Overall, highly recommend for history buffs or as a half-day activity in Da Nang. It's educational and visually stunning, just plan to visit early to avoid the heat and crowds.

This museum perfectly complements a visit to the Cham Dynasty capital of "My Son". In fact many of the beautifully carved sandstone pieces on display come from this Archeological site. Whilst the main theme of this museum is the hundreds of stone carvings on display, many dating back to 9th/20th century, the upper floor of the museum is dedicated to the arts & crafts of the Cham people. Entrance fee is only 60k vnd

Google
One of the best musems we found in Vietnam. The amount of excavation present here is truly outstanding. It speaks volumes on the rich Hindu presence in this region in the past. Being a Hindu myself I feel immensely proud and surprised to understand how ancient this religion actually is.

Greta exhibition, well presented. We didn’t have enough time to visit My Son Sanctuary, and this was a nice substitute to learn more about Champa culture.

Great place to visit.Take Grab from My Khe. You will pass by the Dragon Bridge. Buy the ticket in advance from Klook or but from the counter. Go here before taking the MySon tour. From here you can go to Danang Museum and Con market!!!
