Absolutely loved this place. Family business near Ponte Sisto and Palazzo Spada. We had a delisious steak with potatoes, beans and salad. The steak was fresh and perfectly cooked. We didn't have pasta but the portions looked generous. I think I was also the only tourist there. Everyone else was at least Italian if not Roman. This place is such a gem to find in Rome, great food and service at a really reasonable price. Will definitely visit again next time in Rome!

1. Big enough mussel size 2. Clam spaghetti is super nice 3. Carbonana is little dry, but it is typical style in italy all foods are nice! Best one i tried in Rome

This place was recommended by an Italian colleague. First time I visited 2 priest and a policeman where having lunch, which confirmed it was not a tourist trap, despite its very central location. Usually a mix of locals and tourists. The food is really tasty and prices are affordable, expect 20/25€ per person. They got a very nice carbonara. The meat is also worthy. Sitio auténtico en el centro de Roma. Comida rica y a buen precio. Frecuentado por italianos.

This was our favorite restaurant we tried in Rome. Right around the corner from Campo de Fiori, it was less than two blocks from our AirBnb. We were there Friday night at the end of our trip and loved it so much we came back the next night (last dinner in Rome!). Not touristy, filled with locals, fantastic pasta and wine, sweet servers that can barely understand English... What more could you want?

Love this tiny little restaurant near Campo di Fiori. Quaint unpretentious, friendly service. One if my favorite places for real Roman dishes. Try the Arrostincini.

Nice and non turistic place. It's a must be on your list if you look for a traditional Italian cusine. P.S. They serve Daily made gnocchi only on Thursday's - they're amazing!

Delicious pasta alla gricia, one of the best I've had in Rome. Pleasant atmosphere and lovely quiet and cozy setting.

Slow service but good carbonara! "best in rome" not sure, but very gold nonetheless

Yelp
It was pouring down rain and this place was around the corner from my hotel so there was no real strategy in picking this spot for dinner. I was a party of one which means I'm usually shoved into a corner somewhere but the staff was very nice and put me at a table right in the middle of the restaurant where I can sufficiently people watch. I didn't find anyone that spoke English but I could get by on my little amount of Italian. The staff didn't act annoyed or snobby when I was struggling to order. My waiter was patient and made suggestions with lots of pointing. I had the cacio e Pepe which was cooked perfectly, and had a lot of flavor. It may have not been anything high end but this is a cozy, warm kind of restaurant that feels very local and traditional. The house wine was good - all .5L of it. And I also had a bottle of sparkling water. All together the bill was 15 euros - can't beat it! And the staff really made me feel at home even if I was by myself and couldn't speak much Italian!

Yelp
We ate here our first night in Rome because the apartment we rented was right across the street. It was... kind of gross. The mixed meat plate was a collection of salty burnt fatty cuts of some unidentifiable meats. The eggs in the carbonara were overcooked to the point of being a spaghetti omelette and the cacio pepe was so dry and peppery it was nearly inedible.

Yelp
This hole-in-the-wall restaurant, located on a side street, just 1 block away from Campo di Fiori, is my favorite place for Cacio e Pepe. It was recommended to me by a friend who used to live here. Look at the photos I posted and come taste it for yourself! You will not see tourists at this place. The locals know where to go to get good Cacio e Pepe, and they come here! Come early to get a spot. They're closed on Monday's and they open at 12:30 pm for lunch. The service is average - nothing to write home about, but the food is fantastic and the prices are reasonable.

Yelp
This place was so good we ended up going there twice during our stay. The first time we accidentally discovered it as we were walking around the small side streets around Piazza di Campo Dei Fiori. There were many touristy places in the piazza but we wanted something a little more off the beaten path. This is definitely more of a neighborhood/local hangout. The elderly mama hardly spoke any English and most of the patrons seemed to be locals. The first night we went on a Tuesday and saw many people ordering the fried anchovies so we decided to try. It turned out to be the best dish I had during my trip to Italy. It was so good I dreamed about it and ended up going back 4 days later to have it again. Unfortunately, it seemed they only have it on Tuesdays...probably get the anchovies at the local fish market. We also had the carbonara which was the richest thing I've ever tasted though the chef claimed only to have use 1 egg. It was delicious but I was full after eating only 1/2 of it. I highly recommend this place.

Yelp
Ordered the spaghetti vongole - cleanest pasta dish I have ever eaten, and the clam flavor came through so well. The way it should be.

Yelp
The gent at the salumeria in Campo told me about this place. Incredibly intimate, tourist free, real home Roman cooking. This is probably my first or second yelp review ever, and I wouldn't even write this except I found it offensive that the place currently only had 3.5 stars. No changing table.

Yelp
This restaurant has a great home-y feel and the room is mostly full of locals (always a good sign). Skip the meat courses. We got the mixed grilled meat and it was pretty disappointing, both bland and salty. I can't speak to the other meat offerings (sounds like we should have gotten the fried anchovies and the diners next to us did get that and it looked delicious). The pasta is very good although pretty al dente. My cacio pepe was so deliciousy creamy and flavorful. I still think about it now... The amatriciana was also good, bright from the tomatoes with richness from the guanciale. House wine is decent and normal price. The "large salad" is actually a very generous dish that almost resembles a Nicoise for it is topped with cheese, tuna (that delicious canned-in-olive-oil-Italian-kind) and olives. A great place to get away from the tourists and feel more like a local.

Yelp
Worst carbonara of my life so far. Undercooked pasta, too much oil, barely any cheese. Also several other flaws with this place: - Limited menu - Overpriced food - Dirty glasses I'm not sure other positive reviews are justified.

Nichole D.

Yelp
Great atmosphere, delicious food. I'm still dreaming of the Cacio e Pepe months later. Try the cicoria as well.

Yelp
Keep it simple and delicious. Staying true to the recipes, instead of catering to the hordes of tourists.

Yelp
Seriously, if you are in the area, don't skip this place. Don't be fooled by the location or outside area. Best pasta ever, and the meat I'll try later this week. This is not a touristic place, owner doesn't speak English that much, or even at all. Doesn't matter. It's 20:35 on a Monday evening and it's full already, that's how good it is.

Devyn T.

Yelp
This was one of my favorite meals in Rome. I got the amatriciana and a side of mixed vegetables and they were both fantastic. The total for 4 people was 65 euros so a lot cheaper than other places.

Yelp
I go here every time I'm in Rome. The food is always good, with a great selection of simple and hearty appetizers, pasta, meat, and fish. The house red wine is wonderful and well priced. It is a must when in the Campo dei Fiori area.

Yelp
Authentic Roman cuisine served by and for locals. You can eat for much more and at much less quality on Campo di Fiori, but do yourself a favor and walk over to this tiny little spot. Catering mostly to locals, they serve the typical Roman standards done well and for a very fair price. We had appetizers, fagiolini (green beans in oil), and three pasta dishes (Cacio e Pepe, Carbonara, and Amatriciana - all done very well and in authentic but simple Roman fashion). The owner was very friendly, probably because we muddled through in piecemeal Italian, and gave us a bottle of Limoncello to help ourselves from at the end of the meal. My favorite kind of spot in Rome.

Russ W.

Yelp
This spot has the feel of a local favorite. We were the only English speakers in the house. I had the best Cacio e Pepe I ever tasted and a delicious Trippa also Romana. Veal was done simply and deliciously. The owner seemed pleased to show off his wares.

Yelp
Came here in day 3 in rome after having tried Da Francesco and Da Tonino as recommended by yelpers. It was recommended by the lady whom I rented the flat for the week and a food connoisseur I met on the bus. It didn't disappoint. The joint was quaint and unassuming as way from the tourist area very close to campo di fiori. Attentive and prompt service. Not a single tourist with a map to be seen in the joint. The owner and waiters didn't speak a word of English. Thumbs up all the way as this is a true local joint. The cabonara pasta was incredible. We also tried the steak which was flavorful but nothing special just very down to earth good food. Prices are the same as da francesco may be a euro cheaper. An excellent alternative, not necessary better just really excellent local gem no one knows about.

Yelp
There are so many better places in the area. The bread was incredibly stale. The salad wasn't great and I got the carbonara and it was merely ok but easily the worst carbonara I've had while in Rome. Also I ordered artichokes and didn't finish them all and then watched them put them back in the container to serve other customers right in front of me. That's definitely not okay.

Yelp
Food was nice but overpriced and service was grumpy. Very limited menu. We had spaghetti alle vongole and a ravioli dish with no wine and it was 31 euros. It was hot and not well ventilated. Yelp seems to insist I add more. No wonder there aren't enough reviews for the places in Italy to be useful. Who wants to type this much on vacation.
