We needed sausages, ham and sauerkraut before leaving Trieste and this is the place to satisfy that need. Highly recommend for that type of food. Service was fast and friendly; patio seating very nice on a warm breezy evening.

I would really recommend this charming cafe/bar/restaurant. I only sat in the bar/cafe area rather than the more formal restaurant part. I sat at the bar which I loved, feeling like I was in the bustling heart of the establishment. It is an informal and popular place selling traditional food, Central European stuff mixed with Italian favourites like meatballs, jota, stews, and the sandwiches made with pork, ham and other meats with piquant mustard and horseradish to give an amazing bang to the taste. Delicious. Good value too. Good selection of local wines and beers. The atmosphere was great and the staff were attentive, quick, and very friendly. I very much felt I was getting an experience of the real Trieste. It was full of locals. I will definitely come back here next time I’m in Trieste.

Not everybody will have the same taste but for me the food was absolutely perfect. Hot tongue, sauerkraut, mustard and horseradish. Followed by a hot fig dumpling. There are, of course, other choices but why not be a bit brave and local? You can eat a burger anywhere. Staff lovely. Sat happily on the street. Go for it! Also, it is good value.

This place was amazing! The food is fresh and delicious, plus the staff will pack the food away for you. Drinks are cheap and tasty, I love a good red wine. Service was fast and the servers can speak Italian and English.

Beautiful Friulian food, as authentic as it comes. Was taken here by cousins who live locally for traditional Trieste cuisine and it was delightful. Excellent service and food really stuck with the less is more principal. If you want your taste experience of the region, come here and have the risotto or gnocchi, which are mouth melting.

Very prompt and efficient service, thanks for that. We had a bunch of dishes, anchovies, cevapcici, gnocchi with pork. They felt reheated and sort of bland. The menu isn’t large but there were really interesting looking suggestions. A bit of a disappointment.

Still water was good! Food worst I ever had (not only in Italy) fat, heavy and tastelless. Waiter has not time for you and asked if meatballs with tatare sauce should be served with tatare sause - he had to go and ask chef if this should be served with tatare sauce XD one big joke

Wonderful sitting outside, seeing the people going by. In here you can pick what you want, they pkg it up and you take. I wanted to pick from diff bowls of food and they bring to table for me..no,no... have to guess what it means on menu to what you saw?!? Oh well they called mine meat balls but were croquettes with no sauce or gravy-one beef, one ham, with roasted veggies (red, yellow peppers), potatoes and peas...still good. Bruce got (he thought chic schnitzel) but was a thin fried chic steak with veggies too, no sauce. This area has foods traditionally Italian but also Austrian-Hungarian...hence our lunch! Waiter was friendly and helpful. The restaurant changed names a month ago but basically same restaurant as before.

I had a good time at this place, the rest of my group(besides our chaperones) not so much. My dish was excellent. I played it safe as usual by ordering a lasagna with bolognese. The only reason I'm not super fond of lasagna is a lot of red sauce, but this cafe had no red sauce on! Was the lasagna a little dry from being heated up continuously? Yes. Was it still good? YES!! The rest of the food really depends on who is eating it. Our chaperone is Italian and she loves the food there. However, most of my American peers did not finish their dishes while me and the professoressa nearly licked our plates clean. Maybe the restaurant is understaffed, but we weren't getting much attention from the waiter and any attempt to beckon him over didn't work. Instead of asking for the check to the table our chaperone had to go inside and then come back out and wait. This would probably be a better experience if there wasn't 10 of us but still, the place lacks in service. There's some interesting foods in this place but also some safe bets so you won't be disappointed whether you're looking for some real Trieste food or ordering chicken and potatoes.

The food was fine but nothing special either, I definitely had better bacala mantecato in Trieste. Service is fast and efficient

We had lunch here recently. We had a helpful English speaking waiter who suggested items to try. This is a buffet restaurant, meaning the food is already prepared and it only took 5 minutes to have it delivered to our table after we ordered. I had boiled pork and my wife had a sausage. Meats were fine. Sauerkraut on the side was delicious and nicely flavored. Paying the bill took 20 minutes.
