Sicily
Da Umberto

Bright, noisy, and popular place for locals and tourists. Food is fresh and local, but the preparation and presentation is more suited for a food hall than a taverna. Cheap eats at best. Rapid fire service with plastic glasses for water. That being said, the restaurant has an EXCELLENT selection of Sicilian wines. A go to place if you are looking for some of the better examples of what Sicily has to offer.

Our first meal in Palermo, we were really hungry after a long journey and early start so the spread of ready to eat foods looked very appealing. It’s not always easy to know where one restaurant ends and the other begins, but were we’re sat down and served very politely and quickly. Drinks arrived within less than a minute and the food not long after. The freshly cooked and well prepared pasta was the highlight as well as the caponata, which is perfect at room temperature. We also ate the arancina which were warm but not freshly fried. Amazing atmosphere and €30 for a substantial lunch for two Inc cover charge.

Very sketchy and rude staff. They overcharged us without any explanation, even after we had already seen the prices. The food was just average, definitely not worth the hassle. Wouldn’t recommend. I wish I had seen their rate before

I see the rate is already quite low for the restaurant on Google. Well, I wouldn't expect that much for the food quality for the very first eatery appearing in the a bit touristic market. The food was not great but okay. The stuffed squid was salty and greasy. And the vongole pasta was a bit undercooked but at least not salty. The caponata was not so fresh and some part was bitter. However, it was acceptable if it were considered as an experience of a local market, and it was cheap. For three dishes, bread, and water, it was only EUR 21.

A tourist trap not worth the money and really poor quality. I've seen other tourist traps but at least there was some decent quality. Not here. I did not read recommamdations like a generally do, and fell for it. Be wise and don't do the same. Even it looks authentic, read some reviews upfront. I did this after leaving. Really small portions and quite rip off. What you see in the picture and 2 other small plates with 3 small fish rolls and 3 pieces of cheese were 40 euros. The eggplant stew cold, fish meatballs cold as ice. Imagine the greasy fried onion and fish cold. You can just see it in the picture. Fish rolls, cold. The only hot things were the arrancina which were done on the spot. Please do yourself a favor and avoid.

Hmmm!! Street fishing. Nice location in a typical Sicilian narrowed street where either the owner or a employee start to invite you to the restaurant. (Always the same monolog)He was very nice and very kind, promised us free drinks which we never got. Seafood was very tasty but the chef has to learn how to cook al dente pasta. Our pasta was uncooked. Uncooked pasta in Sicily for me is a bit weird. I am giving 3 starts because of the pasta and promised drinks to make you sit down which you’ll never get. Location is super fantastic and it is worth a visit! Thanks for the hospitality.

We had the worst street food here. The arancini. It wasnt even fried for us. 2 euro for a cold one. Such a rip off.

Good food but be weary of the price. For 4 we paid 90€, which if you look at the food and the service (plastic plates) is largely overinflated and takes advantage of the tourists. The food was good but also nothing to brag about. The spot is very noisy and to be honest it's part of the fun but that does not mean that you can overcharge clients.
