No Florentine experience is complete without sampling its most authentic street food: Lampredotto. This local delicacy, often sold from small food carts (bancarelle), is a true testament to the Florentine tradition of cucina povera (peasant cooking). Lampredotto is the fourth stomach of the cow, slow-cooked in a savory broth, sliced, and served in a crusty bread roll, which is often dipped in the cooking liquid. You can choose to top it with a spicy chili sauce (salsa piccante) or a mild green parsley sauce (salsa verde). It's a rich, earthy, and satisfying bite—a delicious reminder that the true spirit of Florence is found not just in its high art, but in its vibrant, persistent street culture.

Went there to try the stew, but ended up eating traditional local tripe sandwich and boy it was a treat!!!! And it did cost just a fiver! For Florence, that's a bargain, and it was super tasty 5/5!

The man serving was a gent, plus the food was amazing. Quick little spot to grab a sandwich while touring the area. The sandwich was fresh and flavourful! Definitely recommend it ! Right next to it is the Dante Alighieri house and church. Enjoy !

Google
Our first lampredotto and it was fantastic! The gentleman who helped us was very nice and said “Your first lampredotto is like your first love; you never forget.”

Google
Excellent sandwiches served to go with complimentary wine! I didn’t know cow stomach could be so delicious when slow cooked and added to bread. I only wish it had a slice of melted cheese to hold it all together. Be prepared to stand and eat in the street. This is the kind of place you go for a quick bite.

Google
In general the sandwiches are good. The shop is located close to the city center. The prices are on the verge of being above the average.

Their sandwiches were better than lampredotto.

Google
Insane. No photo bc the lampredotto panino simply got devoured. I have been testing out quite a few of these over my stay in florence but this really takes the title. Make sure to get it spicy and with the bun dipped into the sauce. Decadently good. I know understand Antony Bourdain's fast food spiels. I have found my own personal florentine Hot Dog experience

Yelp
I found this local gem on accident as I strolled through one of the many winding Firenze streets. The line out the door intrigued me. Each day there was a small crowd gathered around this place. People of all ages happily stuffing their faces with schiachiatta (like a panini) which is toasted to perfection. I got a dessert schiachiatta - Nutella and ricotta. The sweetness of the Nutella and the creaminess of the ricotta contrasted nicely with the slight saltiness of their crisp baguette. So good! It seems to be frequented largely by locals which is always a good thing.

Yelp
This little hidden sandwich shop is a gem! Seems to be a more local place to go. The sandwiches were absolutely amazing. I recommend the #1 (salami, fresh cheese, and balsamic vinegar -- I added sundries tomatoes) it's absolutely wonderful. Only 4 euros per sandwich! They also gave us free bread bites with cheese and truffle Inside, another delicious add on. Super pleased!!

Yelp
Da Vinattieri spoils you for fancier, more expensive sandwiches, as well as for cheaper, convenient "sub" chains - possibly for all time. Bye, Potbelly. The tiny hole in the wall (you can literally order from a window on the alley, or step into the cozy shop) is fantastic. All the focaccia sandwiches are made to order with the meat/cheese sliced on the spot, for about 4 euros. I had my "usual" - salami with pecorino cheese. We returned hours later and my friend got a sandwich with pecorino and tomato. And the sweet guy at the counter remembered me. The focaccia bread seems to be a cut above, even by Italian standards. My only regret was that we didn't wash it all down with a quick glass of wine.

Yelp
A cute little place to stop and eat. They serve amazing sandwiches. I recommend eating them with the wine they serve as it defiantly enhances the flavors of the sandwich. The prices are good and the food is amazing!

Yelp
Lunch today cost 4 Euros. Cheap! That was the price for my porchetta schiacciata sandwich. Delicious and flavorful, a bit on the salty side, but it worked very well on that warm, slightly toasted bread. It's a hole in the wall where you'll have to stand outside to eat. There's limited space where you can rest your drinks on these converted bicycles

Yelp
The best panini I had in Firenze. The bread of panini is warm and soft, not hard as other shops. Also, the portion is the best!!! You need to try it!!!

Yelp
Hidden on a side street, this tiny sandwich shop had a wide selection of sandwiches with room for personalization. All their sandwiches are made on great traditional schiacciata bread. I ordered a pork sandwich with truffle cheese and arugula as well as a ham sandwich with pate and artichoke hearts which was surprisingly an awesome combo. I had seen a review on Yelp for their sandwich with nutella & ricotta which although was not on the menu, I regret not asking for. Either way, great little spot for a bite & they serve a pitcher of wine instead of water! Gotta love Italy.

Yelp
Yeah, their sandwiches are really good (and cheap!) BUT you have to try their bread balls! Probably the best food I had in Florence. And the staff was so friendly too, spoke great English as well.

Yelp
We are glad we found this place across the street from Dante's house. It's a hole in the wall, but totally worth finding. We absolutely loved this place. My wife ordered the #1, I had the #18. The charcuterie was beautifully made, and the combinations were interestingly good. We ordered a tripe sandwich to see what the fuss was about, but it's an acquired taste. Excellent cheap eats!

Yelp
Delicious, flavoursome, affordable pananis. Put as many ingredients in as you want for €4! Zucchini, eggplant and truffle sauce is a must. The guys running this place are doing everything right. Highly highly recommend.

Yelp
One of the best meals I had in Italy. Their schiachiatta is out of this world delicious yet simple, with superbly fresh ingredients. I had the mozzarella, rocket and tomato sandwich both times I went. The best part of Da Vinattieri is you feel like you've found somewhere special, well off the beaten path. Dont miss their coccoli, fried bread balls, the ones with truffle were superb. Meal was cheap, delicious and tourist free, who could ask for more. House wine wasn't half bad either!

Todd L.

Yelp
Got the number one and when I asked for no cheese they offered artichoke cream which was perfect. Perfect street food that hit the stop. Hidden local gem

Yelp
Great for a quick, cheap lunch! The workers are always so friendly and it's right around the corner from my apartment in Florence, so it's hard to resist stopping there for a panini or some coccoli. The porchetta is a must-try, it goes great with the house red! I haven't found a better panini anywhere else in Florence (or Italy), especially for the price!

Andy J.

Yelp
This little place is a real treat. The woman who runs the place is very sweet. We went twice in two days in a city with tons of food options because the food is so good. The tripe and stomach sandwiches are a must have, but the real treat might he the truffle balls. We also tried the pork belly and truffle sandwich on focaccia. It might be the best food I have had in Italy. Totally fantastic. 10/10

Yelp
The reward for another long walk... Florentine street food. Focaccia sandos and Coccoli, fried bread stuffed with Tuscan ham. I also had to try a Lampredotto panini with salsa verde. da' Vinattieri hole in the wall worth the search.

Michael C.

Yelp
I had a sandwich with fennel salami (finocchiona), balsamic, and fresh cheese, and she got the tripe (la trippa) sandwich. Both sandwiches were excellent, and I wish I was still in Florence so I could go back here. All of the ingredients had amazing flavor, and the bread was fresh and perfectly salted. The price is very low as well, all the sandwiches are 4 euros and glasses of wine are only 2. Everyone was very friendly, and the place seems new, or decorated very recently. I definitely recommend trying the tripe, and I would go back if I ever return to Florence.
