Da Vinci is a great little boutique hotel where the staff speaks English, so there was never a language barrier. Each room has a theme or story to it and we stayed in the Vincenzo Peruggia, a man who stole the Mona Lisa in 1911 and hid the paining in that exact room for two years.
We arrived during the morning, so the room they had reserved for us, was not ready - that is how we happened to get the Peruggia room. It was the only room available and I really needed sleep. I had the worst case of jet lag. The queen sized bed was mostly comfortable, but the pillows immediately went flat. This room also has a skylight that can be opened to let some fresh air in, I would have used it, but I was afraid a bird would fly in, so we only opened the shade to allow the natural light. I love the heated towel rack in the bathroom, but it takes a while for the rack to heat itself up, but it was really nice that the watered heated up immediately. The soaps and lotions they provide smell like spiced cider, I believe the brand was Roberto Cavalli.
The hotel is super quiet and the staff makes themselves as helpful as possible. It's located within walking distance of the Louvre, high end shopping, there's a small market next door and a full size grocery store, the Monoprix, is just a few blocks away. The Da Vinci is centrally located to all kinds of eateries and cafes. The hotel offers a continental breakfast and afternoon tea, as well as an honesty bar at night; the honesty bar is where you can drink anything from the hotel's bar, mark what you drank on a receipt and provide the receipt to the front desk, so the hotel can add that to your final bill.
My first stay in Paris was great and the Da Vinci provided a pleasant experience.
