Staff need to have some patience training. I understand their frustration but being rude for clients shouldn’t be a standard. However their approach represents AT culture so you can experience friendliness of Austrian people thru very narrow perspective of selling quite good sport equipment. I’m on their side but seeing Asia based person be threatened as a king is not the way….

Visiting this store was an unexpected cultural experience. I didn’t know cold stares, strategic silence, and selective customer service were part of the local hospitality package. As a traveler from Asia, I had the rare privilege of being treated like an invisible ghost while others received warm smiles and full attention. Fascinating! Perhaps they thought I was there to steal air. If you’re a fan of nostalgic vibes from the 1800s, and want to feel like you don’t belong in Europe, this is definitely a must-see spot. Wouldn’t recommend it to anyone who believes in basic decency or global tourism.

Actually, I don’t really understand why it’s called a “camping” shop, when in reality it’s just another trinket store full of little bags decorated with cute dog drawings… We went to this shop to buy a small camping propane–butane gas bottle. But, unexpectedly, the Campingshop didn’t have any. On top of that, the lady at the checkout couldn’t even tell us where we might find one. In the end, we discovered that buying a small gas canister for a cooker is a huge problem in the whole region. Even finding a large cylinder is difficult in Austria. Hallstatt has turned into yet another tourist trap. Once a paradise for hikers and adventurers, today it’s just a money-making machine built on TikTok photo spots…

My shoes broke that day and I had to buy one. Very caring and the service was very good. The boss or manager was very nice.

Not even worth my 1 star, but need to put it here for a real review. We bought some souvenirs in this shop, paid and sat there to wait for other friends who also bought some stuff from them. The 2 shopkeepers were really rude and racist. The 1st one shouted at us: “This is not the coffee shop”. And the 2nd one mockingly said after that: “Do you want some coffee?”. My shopping experience was also so terrible. My friend and I bought 2 stuffs and asked them for 2 separate packages, they asked for another 20 cents for an additional one. If my friend and I bought it separately, will us have 2 packages? This is so ridiculous. We observed other customers (who are not Asians) were treated so well. This is absolutely racist and not acceptable. Not recommend this shop when you come to Hallstatt!!!!

Great store with outdoor apparel and local souvenirs. Love that I can always find ALP brand here.

Great place for souvenirs and other stuff especially if you are into sports or salt rocks
