Google
On a quick weekend trip to Ashville and we landed at the airport pretty late. We saw Daddy Mac’s was close by and it had great reviews! We went on Halloween and it was so fun! Very festive with music and costumes but was still easy to relax, talk, and have a great meal. We got so much food and really wanted to get more to try out cause the whole menu looked awesome. Prices were much less here than back home so we were pleasantly surprised to see the check considering everything we had ordered. Service was on point too! Really glad this was our first stop in Asheville! Thanks!

Google
In town and this spot is just down the street from our hotel. Stopped in late after a long 10 hour drive and let me tell you their late night menu was pleasantly impressive. Our server was awesome and she recommended the right things. We tried the pimento and collard greens dip, he got the macho nachos and i got a build your own salad in a jar. The pulled pork here is AMAZING. This was the first time in a long time that i actually had to get a box for a salad and the price point is perfect and affordable, with enormous portions. We checked out their regular menu just out of curiosity and this is definitely a spot we will earmark for future visits and may even come back tomorrow. 15/10. HIGHLY recommended! And as an added bonus their hours are super compatible with those of us rogues looking for dinner past 9pm.

Google
We ordered the Mama Mac Board- it’s plenty of food for two people. The wings, brisket, and pulled pork were all great. It’s a cool way to sample lots of the menu. The baked beans are a little spicy for sensitive palates. We also had the pretzel with Hot Honey Mustard which is not at all spicy but very good and you can definitely taste the beer in the beer cheese. We added a side of mac & cheese, which was pretty basic. Service was friendly and attentive!

Google
In town for a visit with our University girl. We were seated as we arrived and our waitress was fabulous. She gave suggestions for our meals and ensured we had anything we needed. There were plenty of screens to enjoy any game desired and the meals were served up hot and in a good amount of time. We all enjoyed our meal together and will be back to try out other dishes. As noted in other reviews the parking is limited so be patient when searching for a spot.

We settled on dinner at Daddy Mac’s Down Home Dive based on the recommendations of a hotel staff member during a vacation to Asheville, and it turned out to be one of the biggest surprises of the entire trip. This is not your typical sports pub. The atmosphere is there, and the staff are very friendly, offering prompt and attentive service, but that’s where the similarities to other sports pubs ends, because what makes Daddy Mac’s stand above the rest is the cuisine. Their menu creates a fusion of traditional pub food and Carolina BBQ, and spins that marriage on its head. The food was so good during our first visit that we went back the very next night, foregoing plans to another white tablecloth establishment. The wings and sauces are better than any run of the mill chicken wing joint. Large, juicy, not over or undercooked, and the Chinese Chicken and Cheerwine sauces are the standouts. The smash burger sliders are also perfectly cooked, and would stand up to any slider or smash burger out there, and amazingly might be the least good thing on the menu. The namesake dish, mac and cheese, specifically the burnt ends mac with pimento cheese, is a must. Despite all of those highlights, and regardless of your typical pub food choices, if you eat pork, you must sample the pulled pork and gouda grilled cheese. Head and shoulders the best thing on the menu, and the thing we will order upon every visit. Yes the food is heavy, and yes the food can be greasy, but in all the best ways possible. You will leave full and happy.

Google
Tim was our server and he was awesome! He was very friendly, answered all our menu questions, and was extremely personable. Food was amazing! I had the gouda pulled pork sandwich with pickles and a side of fresh tomatoes and cucumbers. My son had a smash burger topped with brisket and a side of mac n cheese. When I tell you the food was so good, it was so DELICIOUS. I do have 1 special request: you should sell your pickles by the jar! I'd buy! Will definitely come again the next time I'm in town.

Google
OMG!! Im left with my mouth wide open but we just happened to stumble in this place at searching to nearby restaurants and no regrets whatsoever!! The ambient is so nice our server Logan L was top notch 👌 recommended the popular dishes and wow what can I say but the food was so good!! I tried the popular burnt ends mac n cheese the flavors were the best wish this place was in California cuz I would make this place one to go all the time. Came with my sister and bro in law as they live in Greenville Tennessee and Im sure they will be visiting again but as for me I would have to wait for the next time I visit 🥺 but thank you so much for you recommendation Logan L ❤️ next time we come back will definitely try other dishes recommended by your awesome employer!! Sending love ❤️ from a Cali girl 😉

Google
Great food, service and atmosphere. Great place to watch sports. They have 2 levels and outside seating. I had the patty melt with tots. Delicious! Bella was a great server! She helped us navigate some things to do in Ashville. Thank you.

Yelp
For a Friday evening, my party of 12 got in after waiting for 45 minutes which wasn't too bad for a big party. They sat us at 2 seperate tables which was okay. The service was nice just a little slow. Had to wait about 45 minutes for our food. They also had music going on that night which was great to listen too. I got the chinese chicken sliders and they were hot and crispy. Honestly wish they had it as a sandwich on the menu.
google avatar

Mike T.

Yelp
I will start by saying that both of us are a little bit spice whimps. That said the pimento cheese is for us a 6/10 on the meter. Everything tasted good but the spice did take away from the enjoyment and there is no note about the spice level. The rest of the dishes were both very good Just over powered. The deck is nice on a warmish evening and the service is very attentive.

Yelp
Our second time at Daddy Mac's - as the first we ended up leaving the waiting line which went longer than the 45 min advertised by the host counter. This time we made it past the host stand and were offered bar seating - despite half the tables being open. In any case we were well serviced at the bar. We ordered the Chili Cheese Burgers - nothing fancy. It took about 20 minutes for standard smash-burgers with curly fries. Restaurant was not busy. Food was better than average. Bun was the highlight, chili was forgettable. Onion was oversized for the sandwich. I will say I will return at least one more time and hit the BBQ as that is what Daddy Mac's is known for and I should have stuck with. Overall: better than average. Needs a follow up to qualify for recommended status.

Yelp
This is a Cleveland Brown's bar just as an fyi. Upstairs on Sunday's host legit Brown's fans, but they are nice and welcoming to others. I ended up donating to their 50/50 raffle for charity. They do have sound for the games but whatever games they choose. The food was okay, I'm a pescatarian so sometimes it's hard to really have good bar food. But we ordered the fried pickles, beans salad, side Mac and cheese, side pasta salad, and the banana pudding. We left full and satisfied. I enjoyed the service received from the bartenders and everyone was pretty friendly just in general. It gets pretty crowded on game day, go early. They show all the games!
google avatar

Jewel L.

Yelp
Eaten here twice. Impressed both times! My first time: I tried one of their salads in a jar. I chose to make my own. The choices are really great. My friends both had mac & cheese and some kind of a protein. (I don't remember exactly what they ordered, but they both loved it) and we all had leftovers. My second time: my friend ordered a grilled cheese. That was really good, but I got the deal of the day! Not on the menu, but you can order it, brisket by the slice. Great price. Thick cut. Order 2 slices of brisket & a side dish & it's a meal!
google avatar

Diane H.

Yelp
I found this place listed on yelp on the reviews. Looked good so we came to try it. I had a chicken quesadilla, which was huge. Could use some more sour cream and salsa for the serving though. The old building is very interesting. Unique menu choices are definitely worth trying!

Yelp
In town for a visit with our University girl. We were seated as we arrived and our waitress was fabulous. She gave suggestions for our meals and ensured we had anything we needed. There were plenty of screens to enjoy any game desired, the restaurant was clean and had plenty of good seating both inside around the bar and outside on the patio and the meals were served up hot and in a good amount of time. We all enjoyed our meal together and will be back to try out other dishes. As noted in other reviews the parking is limited so be patient when searching for a spot. the

Yelp
Casual interior with lots of seating. Waiting about 10 minutes on a Saturday midday. Mac and cheese was excellent and would absolutely get again!
google avatar

Leanne B.

Yelp
Food was ok and service was awful. Came in at 12:30 PM and waited over 30 minutes to get our order and 45 to get food that wasn't even correct. I had to go to The bar to get refills on soda since server was MIA most of the time. Tables sat after us got food and left before we ever got food. Manager said he would discount our bill and it was 10%.
google avatar

Yelp
This place looks so amazing! Would've loved to stop by this evening but unfortunately the host on the phone was extremely rude. She was helpful and kind at first, I'm not sure what happened but after she answered my question and I responded, she was absolutely quiet. I was kind of expecting a "is there anything else I can help you with?" or "thank you for calling have a good night". She was just quiet and then when I started to say "have a good-" she rudely hung up the phone. It's not even like I called at a busy time, they sounded pretty slow to me since they weren't on a wait. I work in a restaurant and could not IMAGINE treating guests like that on the phone. It's a bar though so what do you expect. Personally if I hate my job and answering the phone, I just wouldn't work there but ok.
google avatar

Susan H.

Yelp
The experience was really a delightful one. The food was excellent, along with the service. The atmosphere was what you'd expect from a fun sports bar. Highly recommend.
google avatar

Belle J.

Yelp
We walked right in, seated immediately. Big open dining area with huge TVs in every direction. We ordered beers (good selection) and ordered The Greek Salad, Blueberry Habanero Sliders and The Ruben Sandwich with side of Mac cheese. All enjoyed their meals! The place appears to have a nice outdoor area as well for alfresco dining
google avatar

Maddie R.

Yelp
What a great experience! We had absolutely amazing service from Tim. Our food was great, cooked as ordered and love the large menu, but Tim made the experience so amazing. I have never had service where someone says "it is nice to meet you" and it made my day. It WAS nice to meet you, Tim! We hope to see you soon!

Catherine B.

Yelp
Ordered the daddy Mac bbq board to go. For over 50.00 I got two pieces of bacon, 6 chicken wings (pieces not whole wings) 3 slices of brisket, approximately 1 cup of pulled pork. 1/4 cup of greens (if that much), 1/4 cup pimento cheese, 1/4 cup baked beans, 1/4 cup cucumber salad, a handful of ritz crackers and two pieces of toast. Honestly maybe 25.00 worth of food. The food was good and the order didn't take long to get but definitely not worth over 50.00.
google avatar

Pete J.

Yelp
4.5. Saw this as a decently rated place to grab some dinner while hitting the breweries. It's in a great location. It was Friday night and we were able to walk in and get seated which is a plus. We all wanted some bar style food and that's what they have. Two of us got burgers, one a Reuben and the other a chicken sandwich. I had the Down Home burger and it was delicious. Burger patty topped with candied bacon, pimento cheese, fried green tomato and their secret sauce. I ordered the curly fries as my side. I enjoyed everything. My wife had a patty melt and despite having to ask for more sauce she seemed to enjoy it. She and our friend also had curly fries. They both felt as though the fries were too bland. Needed some sort of seasoning. One of the folks said their brisket Reuben was good. The prices were great. I couldn't believe how low our bill was. The draft list was just so so for my liking. Great place for some greasy bar food while hitting the many breweries nearby.
google avatar

Jeff B.

Yelp
Food was out of site. Games on the TV'S. Beer was cold. Fun fun time. May have to wait for a table but staff was attentive.
google avatar

Alain Serge Y.

Yelp
I came to see what the brouhaha was all about and I approved. This place has friendly respectful staff, I ordered a charcuterie with a slight modification, and they have indulged me. The price point was great for the amount of food on my plate / board. The brisket was lean, I honestly like mine moist, but this was good, the sides were very tasty. I came for lunch but I can see myself going back when the temperature is above 60°; the layout, the decor and the fireplace on the balcony should be able to enhance the experience.
google avatar

Steven G.

Yelp
Yes. Yes. Yes. The fritos Mac n cheese skillet was beyond delicious. The cheerwine flavored wings blew our minds. Best of all...Jameson pickle shots! Hell yeah! Caroline, our server, was fantastic, so friendly. We'll definitely go back!

Farrah M.

Yelp
Everything was delish and service was top notch. Vibe was great also! I had salad in a jar, best salad ever.
google avatar

Sofy M.

Yelp
We had burnt ends Mac. It was pretty good. I wish there was more burnt ends... it was a lot of Mac and cheese and small pieces of meat. Next time, I would double up on the burnt ends. The burger and fries were pretty good.
google avatar

Janis S.

Yelp
Daddy Max passed the true test of any yelper. When you go back, is it just as good as you remembered. The answer is an emphatic yes! This hip little spot is a few steps away from downtown Asheville. Country music, tall tables, low tables, great outdoor patio, huge bar nice little funky spot. But the externals do not prepare you for the deliciousness of the food. I hate to admit I ordered the brisket Reuben again. I couldn't help myself. It was so good the first time and it did not disappoint the second. It was amazing. This brisket is off the chain. My companions ordered differently though. One ordered hamburger and another ordered the Chinese chicken wings, with a side of collard greens and mac & cheese. Nobody is saying much. Everybody is just moaning with pleasure! Also, I can't conclude this review without talking about our server, Rayenne. She was amazing. We wanted every kind of sauce and she never lost her patience. She tried to anticipate our needs and just made the entire experience even more awesome. She was definitely the cherry on top. I encourage you to leave those long lines in downtown Asheville behind and head down Biltmore Avenue just a little ways and stop in at Daddy Mac's.

Yelp
Ordered the pretzel with beer cheese to start. Pretzel was very dense and difficult to chew. Beer and mustard dip was very good. Definitely need a new pretzel recipe. Also ordered three different sliders. The best one was the blackberry habanero chicken. It was very good and spicy. The blue cheese burger had a pickled onion that really didn't go with the blue cheese. It could have used just some arugula. The third was a raspberry chipotle chicken slider and it just was not very good and chicken was dry on this one. Overall just average bar food. Server was nice and beer was good. It was hot inside with a few flies due to the open door balcony however. Would probably not come back.
google avatar

Aubrey C.

Yelp
We came only for a quick appetizer and decided on the pretzel with beer cheese. It tasted like any frozen soft pretzel you could get at the store and make in your microwave at home, and the beer cheese didn't stand out. Food we saw at others' tables looked good, so it might have just been a bad pick for an appetizer. Don't totally count them out; maybe just don't go for the pretzel.
google avatar

Jeremy M.

Yelp
The menu for this spot looks great. Unfortunately it left a bit to be desired. There was a slight wait so we dropped by the bar for a drink. It took quite a while to get service but eventually did get the drinks which we took to our table. Again the service at the table was friendly but very slow. The food was average in taste and quality. With a lot of great food options in Asheville we'd probably skip this one the next time we are in town.

Ray S.

Yelp
They have good food, and great service. The atmosphere is fun. This is a fun place for a date, or to bring the family.
google avatar

Jaime S.

Yelp
It was a little busy for a Sunday afternoon but we didn't have to wait maybe 15 minutes if that! Andrew was an awesome waiter! He was very attentive and kept up with us! For our appetizer we had the piled high fries! They were very fresh and delicious! I had the frito pie Mac & man it's so good! My partner had the burnt ends Mac ! He said it was really good! He let me have a pickle, WOW! May have to try that fried pickle appetizer next time! This is a great place for watching sports too! People having friendly conversations and watching racing & ballgames! Music was blah but I don't love country. My guy dug it though! We'll be back!!!
google avatar

Stephen C.

Yelp
We came here after our first choice was impacted from Hurricane Helene and still not open. The food was really great, service was prompt and friendly. They were setting up for live music as we were leaving. Great atmosphere, reasonable prices.
google avatar

Barrie P.

Yelp
We noticed the restaurant on our way to our rental house. After looking at the menu, we decided to check it out. My son was excited to try the BBQ charcuterie platter. I would highly recommend this because we were able to try many menu items. The Daddy Mac was more than the three of us could eat. All of the meats were tender and full of flavor. The sides were also delicious. The beans were not too sweet, and we loved the pimento cheese and smoked catfish dip. We also shared the pretzel with tasty beer cheese. The honey mustard was also very good. Since it was my son's birthday, they brought him a cookie skillet. We were stuffed but managed to eat it because it was so delicious. I had the blackberry margarita which was excellent. They make it in-house, so any drinks made with it are highly recommended. The server was also really great. She made good suggestions and was super sweet to our son.
google avatar

Greg B.

Yelp
You would never recognize this from the outside. It looks like an office building, with one red arrow down the side of one corner. But when you go inside it's a whole different ballgame. It's unique and airy and very comfortable. The dining area is well spaced. The bar area is definitely comfortable and intimate. The service was fast and efficient nothing out of the ordinary, and the food was very good. Nothing was outstanding on their menu however I didn't have anything bad to say and neither did anyone at my table.
google avatar

Ann S.

Yelp
Every bite was filled with great flavor. Chicken wings phenomenal! staff was attentive and friendly. Location was clean and had parking more on the smaller side but wasn't an issue for during the day.
google avatar

Kelly K.

Yelp
Our first stop for dinner in Asheville. Very cool restaurant. I had a Papa's Pilsner from Green Man brewery. It hit the spot. My teen enjoyed the classic Mac and cheese. I had a delicious chicken sandwich. You could tell it was hand battered and homemade. Our waiter was nice. Good experience.
google avatar

Christy D.

Yelp
Stopped in on Friday night and it had been snowing. Very very nice staff. This is a sports bar with lots of seating for dinner as well. Families welcome. I saw several children and everyone seemed to be enjoying their meals . We ate off the limited late night menu Definitely get the pretzel w beer cheese and the pulled pork sliders. Delish!
google avatar

Blair E.

Yelp
Had no idea what i wanted for lunch while visiting Asheville when I saw Daddy Mac's Down Home Dive. I didn't know what it was so decided to go in. I liked the vibe and although the parking lot was totally full and I parked down the street, it was not busy at all. My server was extremely friendly. She had great recommendations. To drink I tried the Sweet Tea Sangria. It was a little sweet but refreshing. One was enough though. For lunch, I landed on the Pulled Pork & Gouda Grilled Cheese with a side of collard greens. The collard greens were excellent. Great flavor and cooked perfectly. The sandwich was solid but didn't blow me away. It was very greasy but I guess you put a ton of pork on buttered bread, it's bound to happen. The pork had a good flavor but I would have liked a bit more sauce either on the sandwich or on the side. I'm glad I stumbled on this place and there's enough other things that sound great, so I will likely return on a futrue visit.
google avatar

Candace B.

Yelp
I loved eating dinner here this past week! I came with a friend and we both had the patty melt. It tasted great. I got the curly fries and my friend got the veggie skewers. Both of us enjoyed our food. I also got a blackberry frozen margarita (can't remember if it was exactly a margarita, but it was definitely blackberry flavored and frozen). It tasted great as well. Our server was super friendly and courteous, I can't remember his name but he was awesome. The prices were reasonable. I liked the vibes inside of the place, I thought the interior looked pretty cool. Parking was difficult but I think that comes with the territory, being in Asheville. There was no wait when we came- we were sat immediately. Overall I loved our experience here and would happily come back again next time I am in Asheville.
google avatar

Ashley P.

Yelp
Ohhh man! This place is good! First off we waited about 15 mins to get in which isn't bad, normally a wait in a good sign. I got a burger with pimento cheese, a fried green tomato, their famous candied bacon + collard greens. I wanted to drink the collard greens! They were insane! Next, my dad got a fried chicken sandwhich and liked it. The smoked potatoe as a side is soooo stinking good!
google avatar

Lori U.

Yelp
Comfy dive restaurant. My buffalo chicken salad was delicious and large. Service was great. However, the parking lot is tiny. I had to park a block away and pay for parking. No fun doing that in the rain.

Jocelynn P.

Yelp
We were recently in town to visit the local attractions, and all indications were that this was a great dining option! We had about a thirty minute wait in a Friday evening, which seems totally within reason. When finally seated, there were multiple games playing on the big screens, music blaring and a live musician. Our waiter was friendly, but seemed somewhat distracted by our requests for food, drinks, napkins, etc. There were several options on the menu that we inquired about and were briefly dismissed and told we wouldn't like them. Our food was promptly delivered and as shown on the menu, with an ample portion which was pleasantly surprising. Our waiter seemed preoccupied with everything other than his customers and took away from the overall experience. We would not recommend this place!
google avatar

Heather L.

Yelp
We sat outside on their beautiful patio on a gorgeous sunny Saturday afternoon. Our server was on top of it, our food came out fast and hot. The shrimp looked good but didn't have as much flavor as they appeared to. The tacos were fantastic we got the chicken. The mac and cheese is one of the best things I've ever had at a restaurant and I am really picky about my mac and cheese.

Sue B.

Yelp
I was excited to try their Burnt Ends Mac. I received a cereal size bowl of mac and corn chips with three small pieces of meet on top, half of which was fat. My husband ordered the brisket Ruben which was oozing grease. We topped it off with two beers and the total price was $50. Would not recommend this place. Not worth the money.
google avatar

Aaron B.

Yelp
Tim was absolutely incredible as a server and recommended one of the best sandwiches ive ever had. He was incredibly personable and will definitely come back because of him. Best server ever.
google avatar

Trishann C.

Yelp
Daddy Mac's has great down home food, good drinks and a fun atmosphere too. The mac n' cheese with brisket is delicious! The salads are pretty great too! If you're dining alone they have a great size bar too.
google avatar

Joel K.

Yelp
We choose to visit Daddy Mac's on our last visit to Asheville. The food was delicious! I ordered the burnt ends Mac and Cheese and it did not disappoint. I also recommend the fries but be sure to share as you receive a lot! The service was pretty good for a busy weekend evening. We always had plenty of drinks and sauce for our food. We sat inside and found the restaurant to have a nice Asheville vibe. The restaurant had a nice outdoor dining area that looked pretty nice as well. Overall it was a very good experience!
google avatar

Curt B.

Yelp
At Moxys in Ashville for the night and stumbled across Daddy Mac's. Molly B was such a treat to have as a server. She said it was her fourth night serving alone but she seemed like she has done it for four years. Left feeling like we made a new friend. The food was awesome as well. Anytime we are in Ashville we will be back Curt and (drink card) Sherry
google avatar

Elizabeth C.

Yelp
Great experience! They looked short-staffed so there was a wait for a table. Quite a wait. About 5 minutes after we arrived, an older couple came in, also a party of two, and since there were so many people waiting, I asked if they wouldn't mind sharing a table of 4 with us. They agreed, and, while it did not necessarily get US seated quicker, it did help everyone else. It really was fun! Anyway. Food was great! I had the mac daddy with the burnt ends (mac n cheese covered with extra crispy bbq shreddies) and hubby had a burger with curly fries. I also ordered a side of their smoked potato salad. They really need to take their smoked potatoes and au gratin them! That would be incredibly amazing!! I also loved the fact they have their own parking lot. Made it much easier to get there. Lots of stairs, so, not sure how "mobility-impared friendly" it is, but, with their own lot you aren't parking 6 blocks away and walking. All in all, I would definitely return next time I'm in the area, and please, please, please! Au gratin the smoked potatoes!

Martha M.

Yelp
We went for dinner with friends. We were seated quickly. Fun atmosphere and our server Kyle was great! Started with the bar b cuterie had salads in a jar & sandwiches!! All were delicious. Drinks were delicious too!

Steve S.

Yelp
The service was great. The food was lacking a little in my opinion. The brisket sliders came with what must have been 80% fat. A little attention to the cuts would have made them much more enjoyable. We ordered a side of burnt ends. However these certainly were not burnt ends, they were just pieces of the lean side of the brisket. That was disappointing. Curly fries are great. The chicken wings were hearty, well seasoned and delicious. Overall the atmosphere was nice, we sat outside.
google avatar

Mj S.

Yelp
It was my husband's turn to find a place to get something to eat. Now let me make it clear not only is he a foodie but also a computer geek. Well he did good. The moment we opened the door you could smell the barbecue! I had the brisket sliders, he went with a burger . I couldn't get a picture of his , it was gone too quickly, my sliders were very good and filling .
google avatar

Avery B.

Yelp
I got the mac daddy chicken nachos, they were very very good! The pico was absolutely fab. I was really shocked, the tomatoes had so much flavor! The chip to topping ratio was perfect, something that other restaurants struggle with. I also enjoyed that the jalapeños were on the side, it was great to be able to ration them out bite for bite. For nachos: 8/10. My friend got the pulled pork tacos. They were similar save the protein and were also delish. She hates rating things but she also went with a 8/10, "they were juicy". Overall, yum. We sat outside. Cute place, lovely service.

Judith H.

Yelp
Great place to eat. Food is great. Staff is very friendly. Enjoyed it so much we went back before we caught our plane.
