Overall fantastic and a great, fun, different option in Edmonton. The portion sizes have gotten smaller over the years, but overall the quality and flavour has been consistent. Love po boys Mondays, great price point for what you get. Fun atmosphere. One of our favourites and an Edmonton staple.

I'm not normally a fan of sweet potato fries (too sweet and they never get crispy like regular ones), but everyone told me that DaDeO's were great, so I tried them. And they were GREAT. Fantastic, even. They have a seasoned coating that crisps up nicely and makes them crunchy and savoury. Even the leftover ones crisped up beautifully in the oven the next day after about 10 minutes. Highly recommended!

It’s been a while since I last visited DaDeO. I always loved coming here for the food and atmosphere and hoped it remained the same. Thankfully, nothing has changed and that’s a very good thing. The food is decent and the service was friendly and attentive. Love the vibe and the music. This is a licenced bar so I for one really appreciate the more adult feels. My next visit will be much sooner, lots yet to try at this cool little spot.

Google
The sandwich with sweet potato fries are awesome! I really enjoyed how fresh and crispy the fries were. The size of the sandwich was really good, I tried the chicken one, it turned out juicy and perfectly seasoned. Really recommend trying out this little place, it's a tough place to find and the parking can be challenging but worth it!

Google
Amazing food, amazing staff, can’t wait to make this a regular stop once I move here. Appetizer - Corn Fritter, absolutely tasty and amazing. Main - COMBO FABIO A quarter Southern Fried Chicken and half St. Louis Ribs served with coleslaw, gravy and DaDeO famous Sweet Potato Fries

Google
It’s a nice place to hang out with friends. The interior has a little bit of classic diner, jazz, and cinco de mayo touches. But generally, the food is good for a weekend night out (casual).

I haven't been to DaDeO's for probably five years at least but the place is still great. The Blacked Chicken Po Boy was delicious and the sweet potato fries are just incredible. Can't way to go back again very soon.

I love the decor, the food was good! Service was busy, but he was on point! Good job! We went to another restaurant on whyte ave and got forgotten about. We decided to walk in here for our night out. Thank you for a great dinner!

Yelp
Great service. Great food. Great atmosphere. This place is always busy. A testament to the aforementioned

Yelp
DadeO has been one of the best places to visit on Whyte Ave for more than a decade. I'd give them 8.8/10 for their food and ambience. Personal favourites include: - Blackened Catfish Po'Boy, especially on their Po'Boys Monday - Sweet Potato Fries: One of the best in the city

Shahab P.

Yelp
Before pandemic I used to go there more often but unfortunately there was a gap for 3 years! I went there two days ago for the first time after pandemic! I love the atmosphere and decoration! It always has a good vibe and customer service is fantastic! The staff is helpful, funny and very helpful! The quality and taste of the food is fantastic! I have never had a bad experience there! I highly recommend this restaurant!

Yelp
I went with a girlfriend to have some food and drinks. We had their special oysters and they were delicious! We also had some cocktails which paired really nice with the food. I ended up having fish and chips. Very tasty! The little patio was small and intimate. The service was out of this world!! Our server was friendly, efficient and accurate! Hoping to go back this summer for the cocktail. I highly recommend!

Kat W.

Yelp
The calamari po'boy sandwich looked as delicious as it tasted! There was a generous amount of calamari inside and everything was well seasoned. Next time I will dine in to get a better sense of how the sandwich tastes when it's first made. Unfortunately, the bread was no longer warm and crispy when I arrived at home. But the flavours were still great! The sweet potato fries were amazing! They were bigger than I'm used to seeing and they were battered! This was my first time having sweet potato fries like these. They were well seasoned and delicious! For dessert I had their key lime pie. For me the key lime pie is a must have. It's so good and almost too easy to eat! It's tart, sweet, and melts in your mouth. I love it! Overall, I enjoyed my takeout meal from here. I will definitely need to dine in to experience the food when it first comes out. Definitely recommend!

Yelp
U will be surprise how busy is this place ..... tried oyster and wings , really tasty Service was really good , stuff really friendly

Dave L.

Yelp
They don't have a porter or kitchen manager. My server kept trying to have me for brunch by reaching under the table for my real halo, if you know what I mean.

Michael J.

Yelp
I believe this business would've been great due to the reviews, but we couldnt get in .. even though I called the restaurant/bar and asked if I could bring my nieces which were under the age of 18 and I was told yes over the phone get down there and everybody and the manager literally said "no one under 18 is allowed because this was a Bar" wait what? so three separate cars and a party of 13 wasted a trip all the way down there, except (lucky for us) half a block away, was Chi&Em which catered to us all in a bind and had great food to boot.

Lara M.

Yelp
Vibes, atmosphere, service - top notch. It definitely has a lot of New Orleans feel to it. The menu items looked great. Unfortunately for a group of 7 we waited about 45 minutes to order and then over an hour to get our food. The food tasted great, although some of it came out cold. And portions were much smaller than what we expected. Southern restaurants usually give a bigger portion, the seafood jambalaya only had one crawfish which was almost laughable when you know how much meat is in a crawfish. Would try it again, without only a small table and would like to try other items.

Margaret H.

Yelp
This place used to be a regular spot for me when I lived in Edmonton over ten years ago. I was really happy when I moved back to discover that not only had Dadeo survived COVID, but their food is just as delicious as ever.

Janey T.

Yelp
Really prompt service! Had the crab cakes which are flatter than the appetizer version

Aleshia A.

Yelp
High energy place with great food and great staff! You feel very welcome here. The decor is really cool retro diner theme. Their jalapeño pepper jelly is so good! I always look forward to visiting Dadeo - just make sure you make a reservation as it's always packed! Their sweet potato fries are the best I've had anywhere. And the bread pudding is sublime...I think about this dessert sometimes at random times lol.

Melanie E.

Yelp
This was our first visit and definitely won't be our last. The staff were awesome and the recommendations were spot on. The food was fantastic and the chili lager was amazing. If you like Cajun food...oysters...poor boys...this is a hidden gem. We had crab cakes, Bloody Mary oysters (AMAZING!!!), Fried oysters and the Combo Fabio. Thank you Dadeo for making our patio Saturday lunch spectacular.

Yelp
Dadeo is located on the popular whyte av. The food is New Orleans southern cuisine. The restaurant is decorated like the 50s which is really cool. Reservations are strongly recommended as the restaurant is quite small. The service at Dadeo is amazing. I ordered the tofu sandwich that comes with a side of hash and slaw. The sandwich is quite mediocre to be honest. It is quite lackluster when it comes to flavour. The tofu wasn't seasoned well which made it just a block of tofu in a sandwich. It comes with cucumbers, tomatoes, and lettuce. The side of hash is more like a potato salad but quite delicious. The slaw is very bland. Overall the menu seemed quite outdated and lackluster. I think introducing some potent flavors or spices could make it better. Still have high hopes for this restaurant.

Ryan A.

Yelp
One time I was here with my wife and a group of guys with faces that I kind of recognized started to come in. The last one, with a sheepish grin, was Gord Downie. RIP. The Tragically Hip were on their way in for dinner. New Orleans was not sinking that night. It was dancing the night away to Sinatra, and jazz, and other songs in one of the best soundtracks in Edmonton's restaurant scene. I've never been to Louisiana, but I imagine that it is every much like this place. The food, the retro booths, the tunes, and the company, is always cool. I cannot come here often enough. For your first time, eat a Po Boy. My fave is the fried oyster po boy. I've had almost all of them but now only eat the one I love the most. My comfort food. And comfort food is what this place specializes in. I hope it never changes.

Cynthia G.

Yelp
Poor boy sandwiches are great. I always forget that you pay at the front and find myself waiting for them to come with a pin pad. The day of the dead memorabilia misses the mark on southern diner; but at one time it was excellent all around.

Yelp
One of the true Edmonton and Old Strathcona institutions, DaDeO has been around for nearly 30 years. It would be difficult to picture Whyte Ave without them. Not only have they been serving up awesome Cajun cooking all of these years but they've been doing it in an amazing 50s-style diner that is brimming with a rockabilly vibe. Edmonton Journal named DaDeO the Best Cajun/Creole Restaurant 2020 and after many years away, it was time for me to make a glorious return. The location is quite small from the outside, indicative of the long and narrow restaurant on the inside. However, you will instantly recognize them by their purple neon lettering. The outdoor signage also advertises oysters and gumbos, both of which are readily available once you pass through the doors. One of the most interesting things to note is that DaDeO is an adult-only restaurant. Kids are not allowed even during daytime hours. I'm not sure that I can think of any other restaurant that implements the same policy. However, if you're looking for a night away from the kids, this is the right place! The space is very interesting and exciting, boasting an atmosphere that goes full-on into a clear theme. There's a blue checkerboard floor, tiny jukeboxes on every table, and kitsch as far as the eye can see. A combination of booths, tables, and bar seating, the space is incredibly cozy. It feels like a restaurant that has truly settled into their space. They've been around forever and they aren't going anywhere. Music is an important element and a slightly raucous environment can always be expected at DaDeO. The best part? Amidst the strong identity of the restaurant itself, the food is also wonderful. I visited on a Saturday evening and spilled myself into our assigned booth. In the mood for fun, I quickly ordered a Hurricane (The drink of New Orleans! White and dark rum with passion fruit juice - $8.00 for 1oz) off of the Louisiana Libations menu. I found this cocktail to be a pleasant surprise. I was expecting that it would be really strong and boozy, however to the contrary, it was sweet and enjoyable to drink. The balance was ideal. The tart sweetness from the passion fruit evened out the booziness from the rum really well. These might be a little dangerous because you could easily drink several of them. Given that it had been many years since my last visit, I had forgotten about the lovely little extras that DaDeO includes. Little biscuits served with jalapeno jelly are delivered to your table every time and I was so happy to see them once again. Perfect little biscuit cylinders that break apart easily, allowing for liberal use of the neon green jelly. This is the stuff of legend, in fact I think that they sell it in jars. Sweet and spicy, it's just the happiest beginning to any meal. On this visit my intention was to dig into all of my very favourite dishes. Time for all of the greatest hits! This meant starting with Fritters (Four deep-fried dumplings with DaDeO's dippin' sauce - $12.00) as an appetizer. The fritters come in four different flavours; Andouille Sausage, Jalapeno & Cheddar, Crab & Parmesan, or Corn. You can order a "Four-tune" which gets you one of each. This is clearly the way to go! I had forgotten how magical these things are. Golden and perfectly crispy on the outside, yet pillowy-soft and warm on the inside. The texture of these fritters is insane - to the point where I've been dreaming of them. I love the punchy dipping sauce that compliments each type of fritter very well. Each different flavour was wonderful in it's own way, however I may say that the corn was my favourite! (Surprising, because it seemed like the most "basic" of the four.) Something about the sweet corn just created a perfect overall fritter in my opinion. However, each one was excellent and I think that having the variety is key. I was so excited about my entrée because I have been ordering the exact same thing at DaDeO for years. Maybe it's time to branch out? I love the Combo Ya-Ya (Fried oysters, blackened shrimp and scallops, veggie jambalaya and coleslaw - $24.00) so much that I doubt I'll ever stray. However, the menu boasts TONS of options; from jambalayas, to fried chicken, to ribs, and of course to a wide selection of their famous po'boy sandwiches. This combo wins my heart because it includes the perfect selection of everything that I'd want to eat. You get seafood in there but also a jambalaya (which you definitely want). I also really like that oysters are included since they're one of the restaurant's signature items. Honestly, this combo has it all! I dove in, excited to discover if everything was as good as I remembered it. First, the veggie jambalaya, which is a long grain rice simmered in a seasoned tomato sauce along with the Cajun holy trinity: bell peppers, celery and onions. The veggie version is packed with fresh chunks of sweet peppers, zucchini, mushrooms, tomato, spinach and fried eggplant. My favourite part is the cre

Yelp
My wife and I have been coming here off and on for 15 years. With its Cajun/Creole cuisine, it has always been a special night out for us. Although the prices have crept up over the years, it's still worth a visit. The atmosphere is consistently chill. (Maybe it helps that it's licensing doesn't allow kids?) It's a 50's style cafe with jukeboxes on the table, classic bowling alley panels on the wall and friendly staff who are attentive but know how to take it easy. The po'boys are the go-to item on the menu, especially the blackened catfish or the calamari. I like the potato hash on the side but my wife splurges for the sweet potatoes fries. We've tried other items on the menu but those fantastic French loaf sandwiches keep calling out to me. The last time we went we tried something we'd never had before: Banana's Foster. A flambé caramel sauce prepared at your table and served over vanilla ice cream, it's quite the experience. It says it serves 2 but I would say it's better for 4. The sauce to ice cream ratio wasn't balanced right for two but the the experience of table side flambé was still awesome.

Yelp
Finally checked out this place after going to many other restaurants on Whyte. All we had to do to reserve seats, was to call their phone number which was fairly easy. We arrived at the restaurant with no hassle and got seated immediately. For food, we ordered the Bayou Gumbo, Blackened Chicken Po'Boy and the Blackened Catfish Po'Boy. The gumbo was delicious! Very flavorful and not too salty. My boyfriend even said he could finish three more of these just for dinner if he hadn't ordered other things. Blackened Chicken Po'Boy- It tasted alright but wasn't anything super spectacular. Like a normal chicken sandwich. Jambalaya rice was a tasty side though Blackened Catfish Po'Boy- Now this was super yummy. I can see why other reviewers rave about it. The sauces mixed so well and the seasoning was perfect. I added yam fries as a side and it's one of the best yam fries I've ever had Service was okay. They were welcoming at the beginning but never checked on us during our whole meal. The atmosphere had a retro vibe and it really did feel like we were eating in a different era.

Jason G.

Yelp
Excellent po boys (blackened catfish especially). Sweet potato fries are very good. Great ambience too. A good place to wind down after a long day.

Danielle P.

Yelp
THEY ARE OPEN FOR TAKEOUT NOW. THANK YOU. Sometimes I can't believe I haven't reviewed a place! I love Dadeos. They have the best sweet potato fries in Edmonton. And the po'boys are on sale Monday and Tuesday for $12. Wings are $10 on Sundays in normal times. They have a good selection of drinks as well. Including a boozy iced tea. If you have any room left after all the carbs the desserts are really nice and the bananas foster is a flambé so it comes with a little entertainment!

Rebecca F.

Yelp
Some of the best yam fries you will ever have. Po'boys are always delicious. Love the 1940s bowling alley feeling. Always a warm reception from the wait staff. Been going there for over a decade.

Khalia V.

Yelp
This place was amazing! We had the Rockefeller oysters.. to die for. The combo ya-ya was so perfect and same with the seafood jambalaya! Servers were awesome. We will definitely be back. I hope sooner than later!

Claudia L.

Yelp
Delicious food, great service I will definitely go back again. I had the fish and chips special and it was delish

Cin C.

Yelp
Dadeo was by far my favorite dining experience in Edmonton this trip. The atmosphere is fun, the service is having a good time (they did a group shot to celebrate something) but still attentive to patrons, and the food is delicious. We had a hard time deciding with to get, so our server (the one with the amazing voice - you will know if you meet him) helped us out by letting us know we could do half combos. Done! We got the Dadeo and Ya-Ya Half Combos with a starter of Blackened Shrimp and Scallops. The spice on the shrimp and scallops was excellent. My partner said that he hasn't had such good shrimp since he was in Barbados. Then the two dishes of combos came and we had a hard time deciding what we liked the most. I liked the Bayou Jambalaya and the Ribs, but the fried chicken and BBQ beans were close contenders. Definitely will recommend for anyone in the area! I will be back to try the rest of the menu.

David F.

Yelp
This is my go-to spot, when in Edmonton, for really great Louisiana bayou-style food. They have Po-boys but I stick with two dishes everyone. A bowl of gumbo with a nice thick "gravy." And, their Bayou Jambalaya. Wow!!! Friendly staff, an eclectic music selection - a must-come-back place whenever I'm in Edmonton. Only issue I have is they're closed on Wednesday's. Oh well.

Jon W.

Yelp
Had the seafood jambalaya. The food was warm, cooked, and had everything seafood jambalaya usually has. However it was really bland. To the point where i wondered if the food was even seasoned.

Pepy N.

Yelp
Love the Classic 50's ambience at Dadeo. Seafood Jambalaya and Fresh Oysters were yum!!! Both of us love seafood but we are not too fond of deep fried seafood, so these two dishes were perfect for us. Perfect seasoning on Jambalaya. We surely will be back to this place. Very friendly waiter as well!!

Mike B.

Yelp
Ordered take out for Sunday dinner, as I make a happen of Poppin' into my favourite Southern Diner every couple months. Ordered the Catfish PoBoy(always fantastic) with yam fries, Southern Fried chicken wings(also fantastic) but the thing I appreciate most; as a Chef is the care of packaging and details about a To-Go order that still allows you to eat a plate similar to in the restaurant. Sides nicely done, and separated in container to ensure everything remains Premium Quality, food was Fantastic!! Keep in mind for take out Dinner, that travels well!

Foodie F.

Yelp
Makes some of the best Poboys. Very yummy awesome decor. Also a Pokémon stop. Enjoy Whyte Ave.

Lily V.

Yelp
My favourite night to visit is Sundays when their delicious wings are on special. Granted, $8 for an order of wings can still be considered pricy, but it hurts less than the regular price of $14. My favourite is the southern fried and for an extra $1, I ask for a sauce on the side. It goes perfectly with the spicy chili beer they only serve here - which is only $5 on Sundays too. The po boys are always a good option. Sides we always love are the sweet potato fries with their addictive garlic dip or the potato hash. The cornbread muffin for $3 is the best cornbread in town, especially slathered in their pepper jelly.

Jennie L.

Yelp
So I have been going to Dadeo's for years now...maybe since my husband and I were dating, which is close to 20 years ago. They consistently bang out really solid Cajun food. I love the décor here...50's diner minus the cheesiness. I am not a huge fan of sweet potato fries, however I have heard that they are the best in the city. If you don't like them, that is okay! They also have sides of very tasty potato hash and jambalaya that you can have instead. And I love the selection of hot sauces! Gives an added kick to the southern classics. I have tried a lot of the menu, but my favourites are the po'boy sandwiches. Mondays and Tuesdays they are on sale which makes it a good reason to go. My goal is to eat through the entire selection...but I have to say that I generally switch between the blackened catfish and the fried oysters. Nice soft bread, tasty sauces, and fresh tomatoes and lettuce complete whatever filling you decide. Decent beer and wine selection. I absolutely LOVE the Alley Cat Chili Beer which pairs well with this type of food. I always order one or two of these when I go out. I have tried their main dishes as well, however I find they don't shine as strongly as their po'boys. I was especially disappointed with the SOUTHERN FRIED CHICKEN A seasoned half chicken, fried crispy and served with coleslaw, gravy, and your choice of potato hash, jambalaya rice, or substitute our sweet potato fries. For 28 bucks there is definitely better fried chicken out there. However, the servers are great, friendly and cool. Atmosphere great for a romantic date or time with friends (no minors allowed though). And the food is pretty terrific. And I love the tiny little biscuits and jalapeno jelly that come out before your meal. If you haven't tried it, you really should!

Jonny M.

Yelp
It's been forever since my last visit to DaDeO's. It was pretty packed for a Monday night but I guess that's not surprising given the fact it's $12.00 po'boys (also same deal on Tuesday's). - Biscuit - comes with a side of jalapeno jelly. These are money; that jalapeno jelly is addictive. Just the perfect amount of heat to whet one's appetite. - Sauteed veggie po'boy ($12.00) - sweet peppers, onions, zucchini, and mushrooms served with herb mayo, lettuce, and tomato. I always complain about how I wish their bread was toasted and this was no different. The sauteed veggies were great but it needed some protein in it to balance things out. That's where the blackened chicken came into play (for me at least). - Eggplant parmesan po'boy ($12.00) - lightly breaded eggplant covered in tomato sauce, mozzarella and parmesan. This one actually had a decent crunch to it! Smelled heavenly smothered in all that cheese. This one was the better of the two vegetarian options. - Veggie DaDeO ($18.00) - BBQ beans, veggie jambalaya and fried eggplant garnished with tequila salsa. This is one of their combo platters, which lets you try a bit of everything. The eggplant was oddly bland. I don't think they put any sauce or marination on it. They just deep fried it, which resulted in no taste. The jambalaya was better but the star of this dish was the BBQ beans. Super flavourful and oh so tender. - Blackened chicken ($5.00) - their blackened chicken (and catfish which I've had previously) are good here. You get a small chicken breast (about 5 slices) but it is quite tender. Cornbread ($3.00) - the cornbread was decent but it was more grainy and coarse than I would have liked. The butter it came with was rock hard but at least they had a side of jalapeno jelly that you could smother on. Lots of good stuff here. Hours are great, staff is friendly and one of the few spots in town to get your Cajun/Southern fix. I'll be back soon!

Yelp
FINALLY got to check out Dadeo on Whyte Ave. It's been one on my bucket list for the longest time - and I was really looking forward to a good old Southern/New Orleans style food. And I must say that there is hardly a negative thing to say about this joint. The food was amazing! All of the meat was tender, the beans and jambalaya rice were great as well. There was amazing flavour too which is always a plus. We were seated right away and given a complementary biscuit with some delicious jam-ish type spread. Our waiter was very kind and although our food took a little while to come out it was absolutely worth it. The restaurant itself is narrow and long but not too crammed. The lighting is the only thing that threw me off and made it a bit odd to see my food in different colors - I almost felt like I was in a lazer tag arena! But regardless the experience was good. It's on Whyte Ave so as far as parking goes you get what you get! I highly recommend to try this place out because it's a great option for light fare or if you're starving - which we were so we ordered a lot! A must try is the sweet potato fries.. I could eat an entire box of those! They fry them in tempura batter (at least that's what it tastes like) so the sweet potatoes have a slight fish batter taste to it which might sounds weird but trust me - it's what sets the bar high for those little golden pieces of heaven! Overall I had a great experience here, great service and 10 out of 10 food! Definitely a win in my book

Laura S.

Yelp
Monday and Tuesday discounted po boys is where it is at Always substitute for sweet potato fries!

Filip N.

Yelp
It's been so long since I visited this place that I almost forgot how good it was! Such a chill vibe, and the PO'Boys are delicious

Paula K.

Yelp
I realize I may make myself unpopular with this review, but I need to speak my mind. I know that Dadeo is one of Whyte Avenue's most popular restaurants. I know that people go there in flocks to enjoy southern Louisiana Cajun cuisine. And I know many, many people enjoy it. I don't. I find the restaurant dark and gloomy, and a bit on the creepy side. Service can tend to be slow. And the food? Well, the last time I went there I ordered a vegetarian jambalaya and it did not sit well with me -- to put it mildly. The best part of the meals are the buttermilk biscuits - but it is not enough to get me to ever go there again. However, like I said before, it is a popular place and a lot of people enjoy it - so check it out if oysters and Cajun food are your thing.

Edward L.

Yelp
Came here on the recommendation of a friend. Parking is available in the side streets. Just be sure not to park in a loading zone by accident. The place is themed like the 1950s, and the vintage-looking staff (guy + girl) definitely add to the ambience. There are neon lights, a checkered floor, and some old mini-jukeboxes on the tables. And yes, the place looks grungy too. Before going further, this place is adults ONLY. They will card you as you come in. I guess this is to avoid problems with underage college kids. Service I found to be very personable, with the guy checking up on us and seeming to really care about us. That was a nice touch. Mini-biscuits + jalapeno jelly - a bit curious. Definitely not for everyone (sweet + spicy?) but I thought it was pretty neat. Oysters Rockefeller - baked oysters with cheese and onions. The cheese was very light and therefore didn't overwhelm the oysters (good). They say it was fresh but I can't tell for sure. They tasted great though. Honey garlic wings - a bit too heavy on the sauce, and I'm not sure why the wings were only lukewarm when we got them. A little suspicious. Combo Fabio ($20) - the best way to sample everything. Ribs, fried chicken, coleslaw, and a choice of sides (I chose yam fries). The ribs were nice and soft, but held together. The sauce tastes homemade. The fried chicken had a nice batter, but the meat (especially the breast) was quite dry. The coleslaw was decent, but the yam fries are freaking awesome. They're thick-cut, and are lightly battered. They taste different from every other place I've ever been to, and are worthy of a special mention. For drinks, I had an Alley Cat chili beer. Didn't even know it was possible, but this actually does work, and I can't say I've seen this anywhere else. The food isn't 100% my style, but the place is a pretty neat blast from the past.

Laurel B.

Yelp
I can't count how many times I walked by Dadeo and thought "I need to try this place" before I finally walked in. It kind of has the mystique of an old-school diner from the outside, and once you finally step inside you realize that's exactly what it is. Dadeo perfectly captures the ambience of a Cajun diner. It isn't exactly the most vegetarian friendly place, but unlike some restaurants, at least there are some options. The first time I came here, I opted for the BBQ beans and rice. Our waitress suggested that rather than eat it as is, I order a side of extra vegetables. Best suggestion ever! The fried onions and peppers were the perfect addition to the meal. They should just serve it like that every time. Yum! I absolutely love the jalapeño jelly they serve with the buttermilk biscuits that always come before your meal. It's a great combination of spicy and sweet and is an excellent way to get you ready for your meal. Another thing I really like about Dadeo is that unlike most extremely busy, trendy restaurants, they actually take reservations. This definitely helps when I'm trying to plan an outing or event. No one likes having to stand in line for dinner when you don't have to.

Davey L.

Yelp
Another hyped up "Louisiana Styled" food joint. We ordered calamari, but our plate wasn't fried enough. It felt as if I was eating battered squid. Really poorly done calamari and didn't live up to my expectations. Their famous Po'Boy was again a bummer. There is too much bread instead of the topping choice. The sandwich felt I was eating a store-bought bun. My companion enjoyed her meal but the baked beans didn't taste well. Overall, the food was poor, but the decor reminded me of the 70s. Update: Something in their food may have made me sick. My throat is sore, I had night chills, and a massive headache. This was all after I ate Dadeos and I was feeling fine before eating.

Yelp
Absolutely the best sweet potato fries I've ever had. Great lunch spot I highly recommend

Yelp
Yum!! I got the lunch special blackened chicken po'boy with a side of sweet potato fries and it was super good! Chicken was perfect, sweet potato fries were really flavourful. Coleslaw was just okay, not a lot of flavour - but what do you expect really from coleslaw haha. I absolutely love the complimentary jalapeño jelly they give with the biscuit!! The only reason this isn't a five star rating was because my bun was cold when it came out to me. Po'boy was still yummy, but would have been better if the bun was warm. Staff were really friendly and efficient and food came out of the kitchen really fast. Come here!!

Yelp
Sweet. Potato. Fries. It was late...about 10pm and I still hadn't had any dinner. There was only one place on my mind... Dadeos. The taste of New Orleans in a 50's style diner. From the checkered floor, red leather booths, to the individual juke box on each table, some items could be taken straight out of the move set of Grease. I ordered the calamari po boy and my friend had the blackened catfish po boy. We split them because we were greedy and couldn't decide between them. The calamari was good but the blackened catfish stole the show. It was melt in the mouth delicious. Dadeo's famous sweet potato fries were so more-ish and I was full but couldn't stop eating them. I ate one fry too many. I shared a 1/2 litre of Pinot Grigio with my friend. The wine was not good unfortunately so I am dropping a star. It's not a wine bar so next time I'll stick to beer. Those fries tho.

Yelp
Been going to Dadeos for over 10 years every chance we get. Love the decore, the atmosphere and the staff. They always start you off with a Dadeo Jalapeño jam on biscuit, used to be a jello lime green color but recently it's made pale yellow. Regardless still tasted good, but not as appealing. Our go to dish is the Combo Ya-Ya - composed of Cajun blacken shrimp, seared scallops, fried oysters on a bed of Jambalaya and a side of slaw. Over the years the quality was unforgettable but this time around pure disappointment. The fried oysters seemed to have been diced up oysters blended in starchy ingredients and overly fried. In the past it was a large whole oyster lightly battered with a Cajun flare. The scallops were small and rubbery, which was one of our favs as they used to prepare it perfectly using giant sea scallops and lightly seared. Only things that were consistent was the rice and slaw. Not sure if they hired a new chef or they've looked for new ways to cut costs but either way this was enough to not return anytime soon. Used to love this place... plus side the sweet potato fries are still the best in town.

Yelp
The restaurant looked promising but I was initially leery of the Southern theme... in the prairies. The food was ok, the seafood gumbo is cooked paella style (and not gumbo style) but still tasty and spiced appropriately. What this place became was a place where the servers were extremely stressed out about turn over time. So, it wasn't a simple matter of sitting and enjoying a meal with friends, it was an "are-you-done-yet?" themed evening. Our "disco" server kept saying, "I feel bad, but I need this table for another group, are you done yet?". It didn't matter that the food took FOREVER to come out, once on the food was on the table the obsessive "are you done yet" panic ensued. Even the floor manager was stressed; it made it impossible to enjoy the meal and the conversation became about the stress. So, we became done... without fully enjoying the meal... and went elsewhere for the remainder of the evening. Ironically, there were lots of empty tables. Apparently, the restaurant wasn't as busy as expected.

Yelp
It's been a while since I had been to Dadeo's but when I went back I remembered why - those Po'Boy's. MMMM. You can't get any better. Wait.... Was it those Sweet Potato Fries??? Hard to decide. Regardless. They have great food and great service. I went there for lunch with a girlfriend and it was so yummy. The corn fritters here are also amazing. Not too greasy which can just ruin your appetite but just crispy on the outside and warm and fluffy on the inside. Perfection. The restaurant is just tucked away on Whyte Ave and because it's so small and licensed you can't go in there with the kids. It's one of my little things I wish I could change because I do like to introduce the kids to yummy local food. That being said, they do offer take out or delivery, and really, where would you put them??? This is a great lunch spot but be prepared to wait on occasion (another thing which can be a bit bothersome). Remember too, it is Whyte Ave so parking can be a bit of a bother. I did try the new e-Park system on the street which was great as I didn't have to hunt for change to park.

Yelp
I heard so many good things about this place, and met a friend there on a holiday Monday looking forward to trying some delicious Cajun food. The decor is cool, a very 50s diner feel complete with mini juke boxes at each table. They serve alcohol but it's a pretty limited selection - three beers on tap (all Alley Kat, at least while we were there), a few specialty cocktails, and a few wine options but not a wide choice. Service was very prompt also. I couldn't decide between the jambalaya and the po'boy, but it turns out Mondays are $12 po'boy day (they're normally around $16) so I decided to order the tiger shrimp po'boy with a side of jambalaya rice. They started us off with a tiny bread roll each (what would be called a biscuit in the US) and jalapeno jelly spread to put on it, which was very tasty. My friend had got the sweet potato fries as a side and they were excellent, as many other Yelpers have noted. They were long - the full length of a sweet potato - and had been dipped in some kind of seasoned batter making them crispy and tasty outside. I'm not a huge fan of sweet potato normally, but these were really good. Sadly however, my shrimp po'boy was deeply disappointing. I used to get shrimp po'boy from an amazing food truck in San Diego and I was looking forward to something similar - soft, fresh bun, lightly toasted; stuffed full with fat, juicy, battered shrimp; spiced sauce, and a little greenery just so you can pretend there's anything remotely healthy about it. Alas. The bun was dead cold, tasted about a day old, and hadn't even looked at a toaster; there were four sad and not extremely large battered shrimps lined up in a row on the bottom bun. A row of cold sliced tomatoes was stuck to the upper bun with some kind of only barely spiced mayo. And that was it. The jambalaya rice was simply white rice with some kind of creole seasoning added; okay but nothing special. I can't say I'm a world expert on shrimp po'boys, but this was by far the worst one I've encountered so far. They seriously need to up their bun quality game, and come on, maybe for $12 (or $16 normally) throw in more than four shrimp? This place had been so hyped up to me that I was very disappointed and am now rethinking my initial plan to go back sometime and try the jambalaya. I hope today's quality was an exception to the rule, because I'd hate to think this is really the best Cajun food you can find in Edmonton.

Yelp
The food is full of flavour! The service was great and the music added to the overall vibe. The bo'boys bread was dry and should have been fresher/warmed up to kick it to the next level. I'd come here again!

Yelp
Located on White Ave the interior looks like a 50's diner car. Had a po boy and gumbo. Good food. Next time I'm on White I'm going to try the jambalaya.
