Haven’t been to Daimaru Scarborough in about six months, and it felt so good to be back! Since it’s the Mid-Autumn Festival today, we decided to go with the all-day combo — tons of variety, super fresh ingredients, and the food came out really fast. The desserts were seriously good too! Big shoutout to our server Jenny — she was super sweet, friendly, and really on top of everything. She somehow always knew what we needed before we even asked. Her service honestly made the whole meal so much better. Definitely a 5-star experience! 🌕👏

There's a good reason why this place has a near perfect rating and it is every bit justified. Haidilao is probably known best for their top-notch service and Daimaru matches or exceeds that with ease. We were here on a busy Saturday night with a big party for a birthday and the whole restaurant was rammed with a huge lineup out the door so I recommend making a reservation if you ever want get a table. Despite the business, there were always at least 3-4 staff near our tables constantly servicing us. The only complaint i'd have is that there's not a lot of table and seating space so make sure you do not order too much food all at once, otherwise it will all arrive and you'd have no space to put everything. Do not worry, just order as you eat because they bring everything so fast so you're never going to run out of food. The price is definitely fair for the quality of ingredients and the service. You also get ice cream at the end. All in all, an amazing experience.

As a third-time visitor to Daimaru Shabu Shabu, I can confidently say this Japanese-style, all-you-can-eat hot pot spot lives up to its popularity. It's consistently busy, even during weekday lunch, so my top tip is to join the waitlist on Google before you go! After trying a few of their soup bases on previous visits, this time we opted for the Tom Yum and the Sukiyaki. The Tom Yum was flavorful and satisfying. The Sukiyaki, while good, was a little too sweet for my palate. My favorite part of the meal is pairing the meat with the silky Onsen egg—it's an absolute must-try combination. We also ordered the basic set menu, which offered more than enough for a satisfying meal, and the Takoyaki was a delicious snack to have on the side. The meat slices are quite thin compared to other hot pot places, but it's a minor point in an otherwise great dining experience. Interior, Seating, Lighting, Pricing The restaurant's interior seating is a big plus. It's well-designed with a sense of privacy between tables, which I really appreciate. The atmosphere is consistently good but not a quiet place. Overall Value & Tips This is a great spot for a Japanese-style hot pot feast. The food arrives quickly after you order, and the servers are consistently attentive and efficient. For a delicious and satisfying all-you-can-eat experience, it's definitely worth checking out. If you've been to Daimaru, what's your favorite soup base? Let me know what you think.

Daimaru Shabu Shabu is a great place for hot pot! The atmosphere was very warm and welcoming, and the food was delicious! The staff was very nice too, so very child friendly as well. Special mention of our server this visit: Mia! She was very friendly and helpful with any questions we had, along with our orders! Even though our wait was extremely short just a reminder that usually a reservation, even on short notice, shortens the wait time by a lot! Overall, I would definitely recommend this location for anyone who wants hot pot in Scarborough!

Google
We had an amazing experience here! The service was exceptional, everyone was so attentive and friendly. The hot pot soup bases were incredibly delicious, I would recommend the classic spicy soup and the guizhou spicy sour soup. All the ingredients were super fresh and high quality. A special shout-out to Jenny, she was absolutely wonderful and made sure we had everything we needed throughout the meal. Highly recommend this place!

Google
This is the best hotpot restaurant I've ever been. It's very clean and so are foods. Not to mention the taste of foods were awesome! And people working here are so kind and professional. Especially Kevin Z was the best server I've ever met in Canada. He recommended menus and made us satisified. I will definitely come back here again!!!! Higly recommend.

Google
As a first time visitor, my time there was super great! Our servers, Jenny, Jack, Chloe, and Tom, were amazing. They were very friendly and attentive! They took the initiative to check in with us and ask if we wanted to add anything else to our order. The food came out really fast and fresh.

Andrew Lee

Google
Jenny is amazing. She took care of us and our food came out really fast and fresh. She explained everything to us and had no problem with all the meat trays and onsen eggs.

Yelp
Perfect hotpot spot! Came here for late night happy hour ayce which starts at 8:30pm on weekdays. Price is 32 per person (extra $2 on Fridays) and this includes soup base. We chose the sukiyaki and tom yum soup and both were delicious. Although not the premium set, the quality of the ingredients were great. The restaurant also feels clean with lots of private dining nooks. Good service, food, and price. Worth the trek from downtown Toronto!

Yelp
If you're looking for a great hotpot place, Daimaru is a perfect place to go, they offer great menu with various food selections. Imo, this is the best hotpot place in Toronto. Service can be on/off but I don't expect too much so it doesn't matter, I only care about food quality and every piece of meat dipped in the sauce is just out of this world. Atmosphere is very cozy and the place is always crowded.

Yelp
I joined the waitlist from my phone, which is a good idea given how popular this place is. Even though the waitlist was long, the process was surprisingly smooth--you can join the waitlist from home, which is super convenient. The estimated wait time was about two hours, but being able to track the line size and see who was ahead of you in real-time helped make it feel a lot more manageable. Once we were seated, the experience was definitely worth the wait. The broth options are tasty, and the variety of fresh ingredients to choose from, including high-quality meats and vegetables, made for a satisfying meal. You cook everything at your table, which adds a fun, interactive touch to the meal. The service was friendly and efficient, even with the busy crowd. Overall, Daimaru Shabu Shabu is a great choice for anyone in the mood for hot pot. Just be prepared for a bit of a wait during peak times, but with the smooth waitlist system, it's easy to plan ahead and know exactly when to head over.

Yelp
Finally got to try the #3 spot on Yelp Toronto/GTA list. I don't normally go for hotpot but I had to see all the hype. We went for the AYCE lunch special which, honestly, I think was still pricey. I chose the sukiyaki broth and mainly went for the beef slices. I think they have good menu options. I would want to try their dinner options as well as it seemed like there were a lot. I got their garlic soy sauce without the chili and it was so good. The servers were really attentive and constantly refilling the soup. We came right at opening and it was already packed. Every other time I tried to eat here it was at least 2 hours waitlist on Yelp. I think shabu shabu isn't for me personally, the food was still good, but it's not something I am dying to go back for.

Yelp
Been back twice in past 8 days. Still the best. Australian Wagyu is better than American. The chicken wings are fantastic. Get this. Lychee drink that comes included in the Wagyu set is solid

Yelp
This was my first time trying Japanese hotpot and it was really good. Everything tasted amazing and we went for the tomato and sukiyaki based. The sukiyaki base was my favourite, so flavourful! I went with my aunt who is super pick and she even liked it so that's saying something. You get to sit in these cute wooden booths and we shared one pot with 4 people. Honestly a really nice intimate vibe so a great place to take friends and family. Service was good and they were pretty attentive. It is all you can eat but you don't have an iPad with you so you have to wave someone down to make an order. I also appreciate that they make the dipping sauces for you, they give you 3 of them (spicy one, peanut one, sweet soy one) Honestly, I would give it a 4.5 star if yelp could do half stars. :)

Yelp
We tried: Sukiyaki soup Premium Beef Brisket, Pork Belly, Lamb Shrimp Paste, Basa Fish Fillet Enoki Mushroom, Tofu, Nappa Hokkaido Milk Pudding & Creme Brulee Etc etc Veggies were fresh and meats were top notch quality. The star for me were the sauces. I highly recommend garlic soy - excellent flavor profile that most people wouldn't know how to make themselves. No issues with service. I love the classy, wooden booths.

Yelp
Visit Daimaru if you love high quality hotpot. I went for their late night special but I have and will go during normal pricing too, because its worth it. My advice would be to get on the waitlist to make sure you get a seat since it's usually busy for lunch and dinner. This is a ayce Japanese hotpot with wagyu beef, seafood, and an array of vegetable options. I would recommend the sukiyaki broth as it's a little sweet and savoury- making it really addictive. It's also perfect for guests who do not like spice. There's also refreshing popsicles to end your meal. Aside from the fresh food and accommodating waiters, the restaurant is well air conditioned and bright, which is a plus in my book!

Yelp
Went on a weekend 10 mins prior to opening time and there were already 15 people ahead of us. You need to put your name on the restaurant waiting list by the front desk. Once your table is ready, they will call your name and show you to your table. Waiting time is not that long so I think it's better to go once they open. We're a party of 4 and was given a booth. We opted for the AYCE Lunch Happy Hour and the first step is deciding on a soup base. We chose the 2 flavour soup base and went for the pork bone and sukiyaki broth. The pork bone broth has a lighter and soothing taste while the sukiyaki has the right amount of sweet and salty taste. Next we selected the proteins (meat/seafood), veggies, different kinds of tofu, hot pot classics like spam/quail eggs, noodles of your choice, and lastly the sauce. Food was delicious and you can tell everything is fresh and of high quality ingredients. Our favourite amongst the meat was the thinly sliced lamb - more meaty, extra tender and less greasy compared to the beef brisket and pork belly. You don't even need the dipping sauce since the lamb absorbs the flavour from the broth. Snacks/appetizers are also offered with your AYCE. We enjoyed the deep fried rice cake and takoyaki. And at the end of the meal dessert was also included - vanilla ice cream cone or Hokkaido milk pudding. They're just okay plus even without the dessert, the price is worth it. This is our first time dining in Daimaru and it really exceeded our expectations! Service was exceptional and wonderful. Staff were attentive, super nice and quick - either refilling our soup broth or asking if we want to order more. Overall this was an incredible dining experience that my family enjoyed. Highly recommended if you're into hot pot dining.

Yelp
I've been here twice and have been pleasantly surprised both times. The first time I came on a weekend but hadn't put myself on the waitlist. I was told it was a 2-3 hour wait at 1:30pm. But if I wait for 10 minutes I can see if there was a no-show/cancellation and might be seated earlier. To our surprised, we were seated just a few short minutes later. The second time we arrived just after noon and again we were seated quickly. Both times, we were there for their lunch AYCE. Food came quick and seemed pretty fresh. Service was even quicker. The menu was limited compared to dinner, but honestly didn't feel like we were missing anything. I highly recommend you check this place out especially for the lunch special. One of the best values in the city right now.

Yelp
My favorite hot pot. I bring everyone who wants to try hot pot, to Daimaru. Service is very fast and efficient, and very friendly. They clear the tables really fast. It is hard to seat during dinner time, especially during the weekend. I recommend trying to reserve a table on Yelp 2-3 hours before the time you would like to eat. Otherwise weekday lunch, easily can be seated. Quality of the food is fantastic. I recommend for the best experience to get the premium AYCE menu. Otherwise if you're being cost efficient, lunch menu is good as well! My go soup base is the sukiyaki and pork bone broth. Soooooo delicious. The restaurant is self had a cozy ambiance. Very clean and well lit. Love coming here :)

Yelp
*This review is for their late night special* I recently went for their late night special hot pot deal. It's only Mon - Fri after 8:30pm to close for $29.99. Before I give my food review, there are a few things I want to share based on my experience: - With this special, this place gets super busy after 8:30pm. Try to get a reservation well in advanced, otherwise you need to add yourself on the waitlist via Yelp (6 people and under). Waitlist fills up fast when it becomes available, so pay attention to it. My experience, being placed 30 - 40 on range is about 1.5 - 2 hour wait - Their late night menu is available on their site. You can check it out first beforehand. I noticed they've updated the menu twice during this promotion (e.g. scallop and creme brule aren't on their menu anymore) - Only cash or debit. Gratuity is included in your bill but you're welcome to give more if you want With that said, the food is really delicious. It's $29.99 and includes 2 soup base (for non spicy, I recommend Sukiyaki and Tomato). Although they only offer 3 kinds of meat (lamb, brisket, and pork belly), I felt like it was more than enough, along with their seafood and veggie options. They also have pre-made dishes such as takoyaki, watermelon, and chicken wings. You MUST get the chicken wings. They have a good selection of veggie and tofu option which is a good balance with the meat and seafood. What really pushed this to 5 stars for me is their service. For me, they were attentive and really tried to make your experience more enjoyable. I don't have any negative thing to say, really great job. Overall, you really get your money's worth for the value, especially when you don't need to feel like you need to stuff yourself. Just make sure you time it properly so you get a spot for around 8:30 - 9:30pm, otherwise it will be harder to get a table or you won't have much time to eat. Cheers.

Yelp
Next to gyubee, Daimaru is my other go to for AYCE, especially in the winter seasons. The service is quick, the variety is extensive, and the interiors is beautiful. I love how they think of everything to make your experience seamless. Need napkins? They're in the drawer. Want an apron? Also in the drawer! Have a coat? They've got hangers ready for you. Definitely worth the wait time!
google avatar

Yelp
I've been wanting to try this AYCE hotpot place for the longest time, and now I can cross it off my list. Their long wait time is notoriously known, but I went in the middle of the afternoon, so I didn't have to wait. We ordered the premium set with sukiyaki broth and the Golden ox broth. Both were good - I liked the ox broth for its light taste. We also had to choose a sauce instead of creating our own sauces. The items on the menu were not as much as some of the other hotpot places, but I have to say the quality of the meat was superb. Service was fast, and they were pretty strict with the time allotment for eating. We ended up having to take our desserts to eat in the lobby as our time was up. I am glad to have tried this place, but I admit it didn't have the wow factor.

Yelp
The store is racist once you speak Mandarin. Both the front desk and the manager LIE and refuse to book us in waitlist for less than six people over phone. So I come to their store and wait at their door. In front of my face, they literally accepted a table of three for someone just call-in using English.

Yelp
Hands down the BEST Japanese AYCE hot pot experience I've had! I was surprised that you had to reserve so early (I reserved 4pm for a table at 6:30pm), but after my experience, I can understand why. The reservation experience was very simple and you can share your reservation so if your friend got there before you, they could check-in first. You can only be seated when everyone is present. Food came QUICKLY. It was literally coming out as we were still ordering. I love that no time is wasted between placing your order and getting to start eating. Because there is a set limit of 1.5 hours, they definitely maximize those 1.5 hours for you! The soup base was super flavourful. I loved the onsen egg, and the ingredients were super fresh! Service was also attentive and kind. We were able to get everything that was needed in a timely manner and they did come by 30-mins before our time was up to get our last order. Pricing was VERY REASONABLE. We got two soup base, premium AYCE dinner, and was able to split the bill for $50.30 EACH, which already included tax and tips. I was very pleased and nothing to complain. The vibe was very nice. The servers greeted and thanked in Japanese, which is super cute. WOULD LOVE TO RETURN AGAIN.... SOONNN!!!

Yelp
This was the first time here and my first time having sukiyaki (although I'm very familiar with Chinese hotpot) - this place blew me away! To start, I must preface that this place doesn't take reservations, and you join the waitlist on the app. I cannot stress enough joining the waitlist ahead of time, because the wait gets very long, very fast. When we joined, it was about an 80 minute wait. By the time they were ready to seat us, the wait had become 3 hours for anyone looking to get a table. In terms of actual seating, I found it outstanding the way it is organized, there are large walls between seats with hangers, making it feel intimate in your dining party. We got the premium set (this place is only AYCE) with 2 soup bases: Sukiyaki and the new Tom Yum Soup. Both delicious, but I found myself slurping on the tom yum soup here and there - this one is a must try IMO. You also get to pick 3 dipping sauces per person, which I found very generous. We got the ponzu, garlic soy, and onsen egg. In terms of food, we ordered a variety of lamb and beef cuts, which were delicious! The meat was soft and the fat distribution was great. I can only imagine the wagyu option would be even better. We also got some napa cabbage, beef balls, dumplings, spinach, shrimp paste, squid balls, scallops, mushrooms... the whole works!! For dessert, they have 3 options, and we tried all three: creme brulee, hokkaido milk pudding, and Melona bars. All were stellar. Service is amazing, extremely fast. The waitresses have an iPad and we got the soup literally 5 seconds after we finished ordering the rest of the food. I thought it was a bit of a bummer that it wasn't self-order on an iPad, but I guess this adds to the ambiance and intimacy of this restaurant. My only qualm is their 2 hour seating limit. It's totally understandable with the waitlist, but my boyfriend said he was still not totally full... even though he ate more than me. But personally I was stuffed! Definitely check this out, I think it is super worth the wait!!

Yelp
Came here for the late hour deal. We get to choose our soup base and sauces. The meat quality was excellent and the service was great. Very attentive and helpful. The garlic soy sauce was the best and I liked it better than the xo one. Overall an excellent meal and would definitely come back.

Yelp
First off if you want to eat and it's during the busy dinner time, make sure you check in online... try and time it with your estimated arrival. That way when you get to the restaurant you don't have to wait as long, just make sure to tell the person at front desk you are there. Secondly if you have a little wait time I love that you can order a pint while you wait for your table. Of course you have to pay for it right away and cannot add it to your dinner bill. Third off... once we were seated and the waitress assigned to our table came and we started ringing off the foods we wanted, can you believe before I even finished, the pot of soup and some of the dishes were already on the table... talk about fast service. They do have a 2 hour seating limit but because the service was so fast we had pretty much finished eating after 1.5hours. Although we had 1 waitress they had so many runners we were never looking for help. Their menue is only accessible online so if you are like me and can never get good cell service, they do have wifi. Let's talk the food... love love love. We ordered the 1 pot with 2 flavours, I did the Tom yum. I'm not a big fan of sukiyaki but the rest of my party really enjoyed. Definitely going back!

Jeslyn X.

Yelp
I'm not an AYCE fan but heard this place was pretty good. Went for their Wagyu Set AYCE lunch. The Wagyu beef slices were seriously so good - tender and juicy, scooped from the sukiyaki soup and dipped in the raw egg, resulting in a flavorful experience. I didn't really eat anything else. The shrimp paste and scallops were fresh, and the snow crab legs and Argentina Red Shrimp were good too. Dessert-wise, the ice cream cone wasn't the best, but the creme brulee was tasty. As for the drinks, they have many varieties to choose from. I had Ume Soda, and it was pretty good. The service was great, very attentive and timely. However, be prepared for a long waiting time if you go there during lunch hours. Food (quality, creativity, consistency) - 4/5 Drinks (quality, variety) - 5/5 Ambience (interior design, cleanliness) - 4/5 Service (courtesy, knowledge, timeliness) - 4.5/5 Value (quality vs. price) - 4/5 OVERALL - 4.3

Lisa R.

Yelp
My first hot pot experience at Shabu Shabu was incredible! The staff were super friendly and patient, walking me through the process and helping me with any questions I had. The ingredients were fresh and flavorful, with plenty of options to customize your meal. I loved the spicy broth and experimenting with the dipping sauces--the sesame sauce was a standout! The atmosphere was lively yet cozy, making it perfect for groups or a fun date night. If you're new to hot pot, this is the place to go! Can't wait to return.

Yelp
It's been a long while that I've came across an AYCE place. Daimaru is definitely worth the long wait! Everything is fresh including the quality of meats. The cooked food (chicken wings & takoyaki) were so yummy too! Service is excellent as well. Came with 2 other girlfriends and we were READY to eat. Onsen egg is a must get. Love the sukiyaki. Definitely coming again.
google avatar

Yelp
Food was good! But make sure to make reservations early. They always have long virtual line ups!
google avatar

André G.

Yelp
Great food, but some areas need improvement Firstly, I was impressed by the quality of the meat. The portions were generous and the prices were reasonable. However, the menu was a bit limited, and the ordering process could be smoother. The service was friendly, but the wait times were quite long. Additionally, we were seated next to a coat rack, which was a bit awkward. Overall, this place is a good option for a special occasion, but there are some areas that could be improved.
google avatar

Chris C.

Yelp
This is the best hot pot in the city and it's not close. I dont even know why people go to haidilao. The only set back is how long the wait list gets. Have waited +3hrs before and ate at 10pm
google avatar

Tim C.

Yelp
I came here for the limited time (dunno how limited) lunch price of 24.99 per person with soup base included. When I saw the ad for that, I had to come try, because I absolutely hate paying for soup bases on top of the ayce prices. Give me plain water base for free, and I'm happy. Very few places still do that now, but I digress. Lunch is a very limited menu, but if meat is mostly what you're interested in, then it's the best deal ever. It's missing some of the squid balls, scallop, beef balls, beef tripe, etc, but I don't mind it. Especially for the awesome lunch price. This is the only place I've seen where it has that filtered bowl where it lets the soup base drain to the bottom. That is sweet! I mean in the grand scheme of things, it's not much, but it's the little attention to details that makes things more special. Service was great! Everything came quick. Refill of water and soup base came quick. I think they hired plenty of staff for everything. Special shout out to our server Tom for being fast and attentive for all our ordering needs. Top notch service! One word of warning. Get on the waiting list on yelp well before you start heading here. Otherwise you might be in for a long wait. I wanna come back to try the night owl menu (also free soup base muahaha) Food: 8/10. Value (of lunch menu): 9/10. Service: 9/10. Overall: 9/10 (not an average).
google avatar

Anthonie F.

Yelp
Favorite restaurant of all times! The food is fresh and cooked items made to order, and the service is amazing -- soup bases and freshly cut meat come to the table literally as you are ordering other items. The managers are super nice and really take care of the customers too. The lines are a bit crazy on weekends but I'd say it's worth the wait most of the time. The shrimp paste is the best I have had in town. If you go on a night that's not too busy you get a lot of space to yourself but I wouldn't say the seating area is too packed on busy nights either.
google avatar

Lily C.

Yelp
It's been a while since I came to dinner. They're having a lunch and late night special where the soup base is included. The menu was missing some items from the regular menu. It was an interesting experience as I went on the wait list through Yelp and when my table was ready it was 4minutes before the late night special and we were told we had to queue again for it which went from our table was ready to there's 3 other tables ahead of you. The new Tom yum soup base is pretty legit and service still remains great. The best part is they stopped force tip on the bill. Found out because a lot of other customers were not happy about it.

Yelp
I went this evening to Daimaru Sukiyaki with a group of seven of my work friends It was busy and lively for a Friday evening We had reservations..... I highly recommend that you get them.... This place is extremely popular and busy for weekends and weeknights The menu is has three menus.... Basic, Premium or for those who have some money to spend.....the Wagyu menu!!!! We all got the premium menu tonight....which is reasonably priced given the selection you get There are a ton of choices for the menu.... You get everything from beef chuck, prime sirloin, brisket....to lamb, pork belly, scallops, dumplings, various noodles, veggies, etc. There are a good selection of soup bases from the house made sukiyaki, to spicy, Tom Yum and ox bone You also get a good choice of dipping sauces from ponzu, garlic soy, and shacha The spicy definitely hit the spot..... It had a sneaky kick to eat which was great The sukiyaki was really tasty Overall we took in the two hour experience fully.... It was awesome meal and we all enjoyed it....and I would definitely go again

Yelp
It was my first time having sukiyaki and Daimaru Sukiyaki definitely made it memorable. Sukiyaki is a Japanese styled hot pot. Daimaru has AYCE sukiyaki which means you should go with an empty stomach. The menu has all the selections you may think of and even more! Only disappointment was that there was no lotus root :(. The service is quick and efficient but make sure to get on the waitlist beforehand because this place is busy! Also, only try to go if you plan on washing your hair that night cause you're gonna smell like hotpot! Quality was great, definitely recommend this place. 4.8/5

Yelp
They have a good selection of food. Food is fresh. Service is excellent. The staff is always available to assist you. I would probably prefer order via an iPad though. They are great at refilling broth, refill your drink, asking if you need more food. The owner should be very happy with their staff. They are excellent. Ambiance is good. Seating is private which is good. Overall, I have a great dining experience and will definitely return again.

Yelp
What a crazy popular hotpot restaurant!! After a few failed attempts, I learned that a game plan is actually needed in order to eat here at a reasonable time on a Saturday night. With precise planning, I started eyeing the Yelp waitlist at around 3:30pm in order to get myself in line at the right time for a table at 6pm. I picked the premium set and the sukiyaki broth. The broth was a nice balance of sweet and salty and the staff readily refilled it whenever the level ran low. There was a good variety of options on the premium set menu and the highlight for me was definitely the shrimp paste. Since they make it in-house, the shrimp was fresh and had a nice bouncy chew. All three cuts of the beef (sirloin, brisket, and chuck) were also good and service was excellent. Staff were easy to flag down to place new orders, the food came out quick, and empty dishes were cleared promptly. The only critique I have of this place is that their desserts aren't very good (I tried all of them - the ice cream, creme brulee, and milk pudding) and also that I was limited to picking only 3 sauces from their sauce list. Otherwise, I think the quality of the rest of their menu is great for their price point.

Yelp
Nice selection of all you can eat. Good food quality. Deserts are delicious too. Only thing is the wait is always long.

Yelp
Server was great and food was excellent! I will come back for more. wait times are quite long so just be ready especially during weekends. Getting a reservation is your best bet

Yelp
The service is fast and efficient, plus the food is of excellent quality. I have been here for their lunch special, late night special, and during their normal operating hours for dinner, and everything is always excellent. They have delicious soup bases, with the sukiyaki being my favourite. Their cuts of beef are absolutely delicious and I really like that they provide watermelon as a snack! It's clean and organized and I feel that this makes the experience so great. This place is probably my favourite hotpot/shabu shabu place in the GTA!

Yelp
Great food and great service! My first time at daimaru was well worth the wait! I waited 1.5 hours for a table but we had a great time once we were seated. Our server micky was fantastic and got us food right away. There was zero time wasted unlike a lot of AYCE places where you waste a lot of time flagging people down to take orders.

Yelp
If you eat like sukiyaki or eat a lot of hot pot and want something different, Daimaru Sukiyaki is a must visit. Their AYCE menu comes in 3 different tiers: basic, premium, and wagyu. Our table got the premium set because it is only a few dollars more than the basic, but it provided great value in terms of the additional items that were made available. First let me start with the meat. The premium beef items were cut super thin and were so tasty that a few seconds in the broth was all that was needed for a perfect cook. The meat in the sukiyaki broth was perfect to eat on its own, but having different dips to add on to the flavor made each bite an adventure. Also, I know this is AYCE but many places only give very small portions and you have to make multiple orders to get the amount you wanted. All items but one (king mushrooms) came in a very generous portion and we were very happy. The restaurant can get very busy and depending on where you sit, some tables are very close or even connected to other guests. This is obviously less than ideal, but understandable for how long the wait times are to get a table. 5/5 will definitely visit again and maybe even get the wagyu set to celebrate a big milestone.

Yelp
Great food. Many options. Lunch special is the best. Servers are nice and friendly. They are always helpful and comes back for ordering new rounds of food. The seating is nice and spacious

Yelp
Food is always great here. I always get the sukiyaki broth! There's always a wait but the quality of food and great quality service makes up for it! Staff is always keeping an eye out to clear tables, refill broth, and super polite. Ending off the meal with a soft serve as well is the cherry on top! Would recommend, just get on the waitlist at least 1.5 hours in advance :)

Yelp
My friends couldn't stop talking about Daimaru as we were eating at Haidilao lol. Daimaru Sukiyaki is a Japanese shabu shabu place. Most of the staff seemed to be able to speak Chinese if that matters. There are two choices for you - a standard menu and a premium menu. The premium menu has cuts of wagyu and a lot more seafood options. You also unlock another dessert which is the tiramisu. The menu can be viewed via QR code. It downloads a PDF to your phone. When you order, they put everything in on an iPad. This means that the kitchen is getting real-time orders. They are really snappy with their service. They were delivering food to us while we were ordering! The menu doesn't specify exactly how many pieces comes with the different menu items but don't be afraid to ask, the staff are very helpful. There are 4 different dipping sauces you can choose from. One comment that my friends had were that there weren't any spicy options for the sauces. I did find that the garlic soy actually had a bit of a zing to it myself. Honestly, I didn't really find the need to dip that much because the sukiyaki broth was really good on its own. As for seating, all of the tables are booths so have a bit of privacy. They can also accommodate bigger parties which is awesome. There is a 2 hour seating limit but it didn't feel that restrictive since they were really quick with bringing out food and we left super full.

Yelp
This is a must go for ayce! The staff are very attentive and no need to scan a QR code / use an ipad to order. I love the atmosphere of sitting in booths that look to be made from bamboo material and the cleanliness of each table. The utensils they provide you makes the experience even more enjoyable! Highly recommend the premium set with the sukiyaki soup - last time we got the golden ox bone soup and it was very tasteless. Avoid getting the raw egg as the waitors bring you a physical egg that you crack yourself. The garlic soy sauce is very spicy with chilis.

Yelp
If you're looking for well-marbled beef in all-you-can-eat hotpot with great value, this is your spot! I highly recommend making a reservation as this place is packed for dinner and it wait isn't can be longer than an hour. Note that there is also a 2h seating limit starting from the time that the first patron is seated. Service is attentive and all the meat orders arrive quickly (within 5-10min of ordering) because they're all prepared and stored in the fridge. Music is not too loud, it's easy to keep conversation here so could be a good date spot! I appreciated the flavour in the tom yum soup base and absolutely loved the sirloin beef cut (got at least 10 orders for our table of 4). All the table settings just make sense, from the draining dish to avoid over-soaking cooked food to the deep sauce bowl for dipping. It's easy to see why this place is consistently so packed!

Yelp
This is my second visit to this restaurant, and I must say that the pricing is quite reasonable for a Japanese-style hot pot experience. I would advise arriving early for dinner, ideally before 7 p.m., or utilizing their waitlist on Yelp to avoid extended wait times. Please note that there is a two-hour time limit per table, so it is essential to ensure that all guests are present upon arrival. The service provided was commendable, with our server demonstrating attentiveness to our ordering needs and ensuring that we had an adequate supply of food. Regarding the ambiance, while it is not lacking, the space is somewhat limited. Our group consisted of five individuals, and one of us had to occupy the end of the table. I didn't take many photos as I was hungry.

Yelp
Get the AYCE wagyu set, you will not regret it at all! I've been here many times before and always just stick with the Premium Set. But this time since I was taking a friend out for dinner I decided to treat the both of us to the Wagyu set instead and I don't think I can ever go back to the middle tier Premium set again (YIKES!). The Wagyu Set comes with a lot more premium ayce options like wagyu cutlet, wagyu, scallop, oyster, Argentina red shrimp, abalone, premium whelk, and snow crab legs. The wagyu is melt in your mouth and so fatty it's so much better than the premium beef brisket and sirloin. But the other winners of this premium set is the all you can eat scallop, red shrimp and snow crab legs. The snow crab legs were so good and I found myself ordering multiple rounds of this. The scallops are also HUGE and so delicious in the broth. The premium set will get you everything on their menu as AYCE and also AYCE non-alcoholic drinks + dessert. Although it comes with a heavy price tag of $85.99 + your soup bases of choice, I thought it was such a great deal with the quality of items you get. Definitely do this menu if you're celebrating a special occasion! I always do the 2 flavour soup base of tomato and sukiyaki which is always so delicious. 2 Flavour soup base will cost you an additional $18.99 on top. Service here is quick and there is a 2 hour seating limit. They're really good at letting you know when your time is almost up. They also have 10% off their wagyu set if you pay by cash, which again is a great deal! I can't wait to come back for another occasion so I can eat all the delicious premium foods again!

Yelp
Daimaru is definitely one of the very best hotpot place in GTA. The lunch set was a bargain, with great food quality AYCE, the sukiyaki and the new Tom Yum soup base were so good. They have quite a wide range of veggie that is so satisfying, the only down side is the ice cream is sort of sherbet type. This is a must go place.

Yelp
Food: the great variety, wonderful quality. The seafood was very fresh. The wagyu was very tender and flavorful. The veggies were also fresh. The non alcoholic beverages were good as well. Service: our server was wonderful at explaining everything. And the service was wonderful and fast. Atmosphere: it was nice and clean inside. There was adequate space at the tables. Please know that there can be a long waitlist, so go early. Also, they only take cash or debit cards! No credit cards!

Yelp
Came back yesterday night for a joint bday celebration for my gf's friends. Still the same exceptional experience I've had in the past. I will say, it was still busy but definitely NOT as packed as the saturday night the last time I visited. That time, there was a line going straight out the door into the plaza. The one new caveat that I see now is they added seating time limit (prolly cuz they are so busy and the waitlist is always packed). The seating time limit didn't exist the last time I came. Anyways, the service is still excellent. It seemed like every time we emptied out a box of meat, a server would magically appear out of nowhere and grab the empty box. These guys have been trained REALLY well and it shows. They also bring out EXACTLY what you order (ask for 15 beef brisket orders, they bring 15; no scammy tactics). Coming here again, reaffirmed how much love I have for this place. If it wasn't for Ushi opening up in Richmond Hill and taking up the new #1 spot for me, this place would still be the king on the throne. P.S. my first time trying tomato broth here and it was awesome. The broth was so rich and hearty. The sukiyaki broth tends to get a lil too sickly sweet after awhile so if you get sukiyaki broth, when they refill/top it off, just ask them for water so that the broth doesn't keep getting sweeter.

Yelp
This hotpot place is so busy even on weekdays, and while they do have Yelp waitlist you can expect to wait quite awhile after you check in. If you want to avoid the wait I recommend coming right at 6pm. The food and service were very good. We chose the premium set which was quite reasonably priced. The meats were very thinly sliced which was great, and there was a good variety of other food like veggies, noodles, and seafood. The sukiyaki and spicy soups were a good combo as just the sukiyaki is very sweet on its own and can get boring after awhile. The desserts were a bit disappointing but at least there are Melona bars. Will definitely be back!
