"Tom Creek, a guide through north Queensland's Daintree rainforest, shares insights into the Indigenous culture and the significance of this area. The Daintree is home to a diverse range of flora and fauna and has been handed back to its traditional custodians, the Eastern Kuku Yalanji people. The forest provides a unique habitat and is a place of traditional uses, hunting, foraging, and ceremonies."

It's the highlight of my East Coast adventure to be honest. We rented a car to have all the freedom and it was amazing. So many wild animals, the trees and plants are great. On our way back we stopped at a swimming hole. Do keep in mind that the ferry is rather expensive.

The Kuranda Scenic Railway and Skyrail offer the fastest and most immersive way to experience the UNESCO World Heritage Rainforest. From the Skyrail, you’ll be captivated by panoramic views that showcase the ancient beauty of this rainforest, believed to be even older than the Amazon. The serene silence, punctuated by the melodic calls of native birds, creates a truly enchanting atmosphere. This is an unforgettable destination and a must-visit for nature lovers.

Definitely highly recommend the 4 hour greater wilderness experience tour with Neil! We spent a long time looking for a tour with more walking than most and definitely got what we were looking for. We learned a lot from him about the biological, cultural and political background of the area while discovering the beautiful rainforest. Perfect half day tour through the heart of the rainforest, you can do what most other tours do (e.g. Mossman gorge) on your own for free the day before or after. Car required for access.

The Daintree Rainforest is the world’s oldest tropical rainforest, estimated to be over 135 million years old—predating even the Amazon! Its lush canopy, unique wildlife, and incredible biodiversity make it a UNESCO World Heritage site. There are no monkeys in the rainforest so it is very quiet. We walked through several portions of the rainforest and explored a beach at Cape Tribulation area, where the rainforest meets the reef in a rare natural phenomenon. We looked out for the cassowary, a flightless bird with a blue neck and a reputation as a living dinosaur. Fun fact: the Daintree Rainforest is home to 90% of Australia’s butterfly species.

Loved the river crocodile cruise. Very informative. The right amount of time and a pretty place. Amazing information about the forest.

I wish we had more time to spend in this area. It is nice that it is not overrun with people. It is verdant and serene. Check the road conditions- Cape Tribulation Road is under repair and traffic is escorted through a section of one lane road (September 1, 2024)

Yelp
This rainforest seems very suitable for a coyote like me. My names Joey the coyote, as I was in my walk in Queensland, I stumbled upon a brochure of the Daintree Rainforest by someone named Jaden. The Daintree rainforest has all the food, water, and shelter I could possibly need to survive. It is very humid but I like it it is not so bad! So many trees and plants but it protects me from other animals. As I walk around I feel so welcomed as there are a variety of other animals who enjoy this place like me.
