I've been to this restaurant four times in the past two weeks, and each visit has been an absolute delight. The food is consistently outstanding—everything we've tried has been full of flavor, beautifully presented, and cooked to perfection. From appetizers to mains, every dish comes out tasting just right. And the atmosphere is also It’s definitely somewhere I feel confident bringing family or guests—the setting is proper without being overly formal, making it perfect for both casual dinners and special occasions. Highly recommend checking it out if you haven’t yet—you won’t be disappointed!

Decor definitely has changed to a more modern feel. The Chongqing chicken ($39.80) was crispy, succulent and not greasy at all. Large portion that was enough for four people. The most amazing thing was that the chillis tasted nutty and weren't overly spicy when you ate them. The fried garlic was crispy and full of garlic flavour. The Sichuan pepper was flowery and not super numbing. Spice level was very well controlled with each bite not spicy but slowly builds up as you eat more. The tasty cold noodles for $16.80 was larger than expected. Noodle texture was bouncy. It was salty, sweet and spicy all at the same time. Eager to try the other dishes but it's far away and still a bit on the pricey side so it's an annual treat.

We had a lovely evening as walk ins. The free range Chicken stew with black truffle and Dry stir fried beans with pork mince was fantastic and so yummy. Highly recommend this place.

✨ One Hatted restaurant serving authentic sichuan dishes✨ Featured: 🐟 Sweet and Sour Black Cod - 🌟 🍆 Signature Fish Flavoured Eggplant - 🌟 🍤 Deep-fried Prawns with Salted Yolk - 🌟 🍚 Fried Rice with Foie Gras and Wagyu Beef 🦆 Peking Style Roast Duck - half with pancakes Situated on Melbourne's vibrant Toorak Road and just a minute walk from South Yarra station, this place is a modern chinese restaurant that specialises in Sichuan cuisine. It has been awared One Hat from the Good Food Guide in 2025 and also won multiple awards throughout the years. Their menu is extensive (maybe more than 80-100 dishes - sorry forgot to count 🥲) and the menu book is a thick hardcover book (the type you put on display on coffee tables) with pictures of every dish! That along with the elegant decor and ambience here elevated the dining experience. The dishes we had were good overall and the signature fish flavoured eggplant and the sweet and sour black cod were my favourite 😋

I noticed a lot of the one star reviews are in relation to the hospitality and rudeness of the staff and not to do with the food at all. This was not my experience - I found the staff extremely attentive and smiley. I was treated like I was dining in a bougie uncle or Aunty's family dining room and I didn't feel rushed to order, to eat or to leave. And trust me it took us forever to decide what to eat seeing as the menu is more like a novel than a one page selection! Bringing the heat to South Yarra's dining scene, this flagship restaurant is newly renovated with a new name and a huge menu that includes well known favourites and adventurous new dishes - we were honestly lost in what to order. Every second item is a signature or a favourite so not even that could narrow down the choice but in the end, there were no bad decisions made! The Kong Pao Prawn was an elite choice and the Sichuan Style Braised Fish fell off the bones. I'm not a fan of unnecessary oil but in Sichuan cuisine, it's a staple and so I was all for the Cold Noodles With Shredded Chicken even if it didn't come out exactly like its picture. And saving room for the Homemade Fried Glutinous Rice Cakes With Syrup was worth the challenge. Better shared as opposed to dining solo, it's great food, great vibes and great hospitality that makes you feel like you're feasting at home (if you were fancy and had video projections in your entrance hallway).

I get why they are Michelin. Best peking duck I’ve had in the Melbourne city area. Altho hella expensive. Definitely a great place for a celebration or special occasion that everyone will enjoy bc food quality here is AMAZING.
