Great ice cream place that always has customers lining up. A local staple in the community. I like that I can get it in a baseball cap ( super nostalgic), and there is a multitude of options for any picky eater!

Google
Absolutely loved this place! I asked for a flurry recommendation and got one with wafers and sprinkles, it was so yummy. Super friendly service and a perfect sweet treat! 10/10

I would like to take a moment to express my heartfelt gratitude to the ladies and young men of Dairy Dream. A few weeks ago, I visited your establishment, armed with a doctor's order for ice cream following oral surgery. Despite my inability to speak, everyone at Dairy Dream welcomed me with warm smiles and a willingness to help. I wrote down my order, and your team collaborated to create the perfect treat at a reasonable price, making me feel like royalty. Your empathy and kindness towards my medical condition were truly uplifting. As I left, your team's encouraging words and wishes for a speedy recovery were the perfect remedy. I will undoubtedly return, especially since this is just my third of six surgeries. Your establishment is a shining example of exceptional customer service and compassion. Again, THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR BEING A BEACON OF HOPE AND KINDNESS DURING A CHALLENGING TIME! Your smiles are a powerful reminder that even in difficult moments, there is always hope and always something to be grateful for. ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

Google
We were frequent visitors to Dairy Bar in Glenview when we lived near there. It's a local happening! Now we live in Vernon Hills and love that we can get the same feeling (obviously the same family)and same product so close to home. I think Dairy Dream may even offer more options than Dairy Bar. I wish there was more parking but other than that it makes me happy

Google
Really good ice cream. They seemed to be teenagers and handled a lot of people really well and had good service. I barely had to wait for my ice cream. I also really liked the guy with the piercings, he looked like someone id hang out with

Janea Dimayuga

Google
My favorite local ice cream shop. They have a good variety of dip options, smoothies, and concrete flavors.

Google
Best ice cream in the area! Such a fun spot to treat yourself. The staff are awesome-always polite and efficient! They have a huge variety of flavors and great combinations that I haven’t seen at other ice cream shops. Even on crazy busy days they remain calm and keep the line moving. I never mind waiting a bit since I know it will be well worth it. This is a great small business to support!

Google
Best Ice Cream Around. Amazing burgers, cheese curds and other great foods. Parking Lot is small but ok since people just come in and out all the time. No dine in area, but nice picnic tables around the back. Just a few mosquitos in the summer.

Yelp
This has been our family go to this summer! They have the most soft serve flavors we've ever seen and the ice cream isn't overly sweet like other places. We've now gotten to the point that we can't eat ice cream anywhere else.

Yelp
High hopes but missed the mark. We visited with friends and the place was very busy. We got our order organized and waited our turn. The young lady at the window was helpful and kind. It took about 10 minutes from ordering to getting our food (we ordered grill items as well). It was 6:00 when we got our food and upon unpacking it at the table, we realized they put cheese on the burger even though we had asked for no cheese due to a dairy allergy. I went back up to the window and intended to just buy another burger and even more clearly state that there cannot be any cheese, but the young man behind the window would not make amends for their error (even with my willingness to pay). He without apology stated the grilled closed at 6 and there was nothing he could do. Frustrating. We counted our losses and stopped at Wendy's on the way home. I'm not going to argue with a teenager. Our ice cream was fine. What you'd expect. But we left soured by the unwillingness to help make their error right.

Yelp
The frozen treat menu had so many options, the two teenage girls I was with didn't know what to pick and immediately decided to pick something today and that we have to come back for more! Our party of 4 ordered a peanut butter shake, a S'Mores sundae, a mint chocolate chip flurry, and a sprinkle + Butterfinger flurry. The small or kids' sizes were very generous. It took a while for even the teenagers to finish them, so we sat in their little seating area and played games while they ate. A fun little time together!

Yelp
Classic looking ice cream stand located at a busy intersection in Libertyville that may be small, but has a lot to choose from. Dairy Dream Drive In has many flavors, 28 in fact, so that's impressive. It's pretty much a simple looking structure with a window to go up to and order. Has the ice cream as well as hot food such as burgers and cheese curds. They also have non dairy sorbets. A thing to know is this is one of those seasonal places for ice cream. It closes for winter like most. There's only some outdoor seating. Much too small for anything else. They still manage to have a ton of flavors though. It's about $3 for a medium cup. There's all the usual ones plus a few not as much. Get some that are non dairy. They had a few sorbets including orange and watermelon. Also people like the cheese curds. These look pretty greasy, but that must be why they like these. Good place to cool off and get a sweet treat with it. It's open beginning in spring. This is located close to the high school, so no surprise if there's lots of teens hanging around or whatever.

Dan J.

Yelp
Ordered Uber Eats delivery from here two times recently, an Oreo flurry and a cherry chocolate chip flurry. Both times our orders were wrong. And not just wrong like oh well wrong but wrong like we got things that we wouldn't even eat. Thankfully we were refunded twice, but it's just a shame because now we are done here. Pretty unfortunate because we thought this place was better than the other options in the area, but we will go back to either dairy Queen for delivery or Greg's for in person instead.

Yelp
I love to come here in the summer! I always get the dreamsicle cone! My husband got it dipped with chocolate! It's very busy if you come here around 7:30-8:30! But there's plenty of parking! There's also benches to sit!

Yelp
My favorite ice cream spot! Very affordable and quick service. I usually come in for a soft serve either in a cone or cup and top it off with the toasted coconut dip. My go-to favorite. I have to try their other soft serve flavors soon.

Ryann H.

Yelp
Always worth the wait! Love the different options for ice cream and the staff is always friendly even with a line around the building! They do offer seating in the back in a yard area.

Wendy S.

Yelp
Seems like a popular place for locals of all ages to hang out and enjoy ice cream. The vibe was "ice cream tailgate!" On this particular early Friday evening, the line was about 6 customers deep. It moves slowly because I learned that their extensive list of flavors is made to order. Unfortunately, it's a long wait for ice cream that tastes as cheap as its price. The banana ice cream I ordered looked like their vanilla base soft serve with a scoop of what resembled melted banana laffy taffy added for flavor. I love Laffy Taffy candy btw, but my ice cream critiques are much more demanding than candy from Target! Another person in our group ordered coconut which again was the vanilla soft serve injected with what tasted like a sweetened coconut syrup or extract. Neither was worth finishing. Our favorite picks were their chocolate soft serve and chocolate blizzard. A customer behind me loved their amaretto and also their banana cream pie (which I imagine would be the yellow "laffy taffy" banana with pie crust crumbles.) The employees were young, kind and patient to their customers including me who had no idea of what to order and had a hard time deciding. We love the Dairy Bar is Glenview and I think the big difference is that the Dairy Bar soft serve vanilla is delicious on its own- maybe that is where the Dairy Dream fell short for me. All to say, we went to the Dairy Dream- One and done!

Yelp
It's an ice cream stand. Return from the Marytown Shrine, I couldn't ignore the 'flavor of the say - blueberry " sign calling me. Many flavor served in cones, shakes, Sundays or concretes. I had a the blueberry as a malt. Proper flavor levels for the blueberry and the sweetness, not overly sweet. Great formulation, thick but it would move through the straw. Solid place. Service? The got the order correct, prepared it promptly and the change was correct. No problems. Would return

Yelp
This place sadly continues to go down hill in the very short amount of time we have been here. It's unfortunate as it was amazing and my favorite treat spot I would bring all my visitors and always recommend. Now I will have to recommend Dairy Queen. The flavors you get mixed in give an artificial taste and everything is inconsistent. There is no flow. I wouldn't recommend any food from here or any flavoring.

Yelp
The cookie dough flurrie is unreal. The way that there is cookie dough in every single bite...I have no more words.
google avatar

Madalyn H.

Yelp
( Sorry ahead of time ... this'll be long) This is my favorite spot but Unfortunately things have gone down hill. The ice cream is phenomenal, but the service is trash. It's young high school kids that are unbelievably rude... also, the price has gone up and up . My family and I go all the time. And my boyfriend and I have been getting the same thing for years and every time we come back the price goes up. We went twice in one week and were charged $14 something for two medium flurries , 2 days later we were charged $16 something... I asked the young girl at the counter If she could please make sure that there was a good amount of stuff in there because multiple times I've gone it's basically just plain vanilla ice cream and you can barely find anything in there. And she charged me an extra $4 . I didn't want to add extra toppings. I just wanted it done right the first time. Every time, it is so inconsistent- you don't know what you're gonna get. Besides that, she was incredibly rude. When I got up to the window, I said hello and asked how her day was and she just stared at me. When I asked about the price, all she said was , "that's what we charge". And when our order was ready she SLAMMED the two flurries on the counter. I live down the street and have been here countless times over the years. I get so excited when they open back up because when it's done right, their ice cream is phenomenal!! It's upsetting looking forward to it and then getting it and having it be so inconsistent. I'm sorry this review is so long, but the last thing I would like to say is that Justin could not be nicer . Anytime I see him he is so kind and has a smile on his face.... when they first opened up this year, I sent my boyfriend out to grab me their ice cream and digging through it, I could not find one topping. I called them and Justin picked up. He was so accommodating. He made me a new one since I live down the street, even though it was two minutes past closing. Being in the service industry since 16 and for 8 years myself, I definitely know what it's like. I would love to give them 10 stars just based on Justin himself and the quality and deliciousness of the ice cream when it's made right. But half of the staff is so rude, it makes customers not what to go back.

Yelp
I first ate here in the late 80s when I moved to Mundelein and would stop by for a Dream Cone every chance I got. Years later I moved to Arizona, and whenever I come back to Illinois, I HAVE to come back here for another Dream Cone. There's nothing more refreshing than a "Creamsicle" in a cone. I never found anywhere else that does, this, so if you haven't been, you need to go!

Ethan S.

Yelp
Great place! been there thousands of times. The ice cream never disappoints and All the other food. The service was also super nice.

Yelp
So after randomly seeing the review here on yelp and being tempted by all the photos, I took the family there yesterday evening for a post dinner desert at around 6pm. It wasn't too busy and was easy to find right on route 176 in Libertyville. There were a bunch of teenagers working who were polite and pleasant. My kids all had dipped cones and loved them. Some of the combos ordered were bubble gum soft serve with cotton candy hard shell, coconut with coconut hard shell, to cake batter with caramel hard shell. Everyone loved there ice creams. For around $1.50 a piece is was a great economic treat. My husband ordered chili cheese fries which were good, I do enjoy the shoestring fries... the kids basically took over the fries once they finished there cones. Should have ordered more. We will def be back. It's a spot that reminds me of my childhood (the vibe and look) it's a fun place for a summer treat!
google avatar

Mckenzie J.

Yelp
Love this local ice cream place! They have a ton of flavors and options. Always a fun place to stop by in the summer to get a nice cold treat!
google avatar

Drake D.

Yelp
Terrible service, decent ice cream. Would be 3 or 4 stars if their employees weren't rude and incompetent.
google avatar

Melissa J.

Yelp
Classic ice cream that hits the spot on a summer day! They have all the classic sundaes, shakes, soft served cones, and you can order cakes ahead of time. The prices are reasonable and comparable with other ice cream spots in the area. Service is reasonably quick, but they can get a long line from time to time. I wish they had some better table options for eating, but there are benches around for seating. Overall we enjoy coming here a couple times a summer. Keep in mind they do close over the winter.

Yelp
Gosh I really like this place. I spend so much money here and it is worth it. The portions are large and it is not cheap but the food quality makes it worth it. The Staff is friendly and they have a spacious area to sit outside. One downside is the parking lot it sucks and is cramped and kind of dangerous. You should go and check this place out. The place is clean and food quality is consistent and fresh--this is hard to find these days. Will be again soon with friends.

Yelp
What's not to love about a place that carries 28 flavors of soft serve ice cream?! Coconut?! Dreamsicle?! Pistachio?! Yes! Yes! Yes! AND you can have those cones dipped in sprinkles or chocolate or nuts or chocolate. They also have burgers, fries and other assorted savory fare, but if I go to Dairy Dream it's because I want ice cream. This shop marked 55 years and has kept some of its vintage feel in the signage and the building looks like an old drive-in restaurant. These days you'll see cars pull up, bicyclers riding on the North Shore path, and walkers strolling up to the windows. The owners also hire local students for the season, and the tip jar is a reminder that the kids working the machines are actually working. They have always been polite, friendly, and quick. We've also had great success with their ice cream cakes when we are able to empty freezer space. You can custom order a cake, and sometimes they will have sown thing you can grab and go. Call ahead and they'll help you out. This year I've seen a few offers on Facebook so one are of improvement would be for more consistency in social media posts and presence. Otherwise, stop by for some soft serve.

Yelp
Brings me back to the good old days when places like this were everywhere. Dairy Dream is nostalgic and the ice cream is very good. Great variety and friendly staff.

Yelp
This place was cute!! Came here late on a Saturday night after a big dinner. We couldn't fathom "real" dessert at the restaurant. Wanted something light, instead, so we decided to try this place. Oh what a nice surprise to see the vast options you have! I am a die-hard Cookies-N-Cream lover. It's basically what I get any time I get ice-cream. BUT, while I was here, I considered trying their normal soft-serve, so i tried a bit of Raspberry and OMG it was to die for!! But, i was lame and got my cookies-n-cream. And i have to tell you, two minutes into eating it, i was so disappointed i didn't get the Raspberry because it had just hit the spot!! So, rest assured, I will be back soon so I can get my Raspberry FIX. The kids working were nice, and efficient. Seemed to know what they were doing and worked fast. And we were amazed at the stream of cars that were coming in and out. This place seems to be a neighborhood favorite. Def worth stopping by!
google avatar

Anh T.

Yelp
My favorite place for soft serve. You can get the traditional chocolate vanilla twist or there are 28 other flavors to chose from. They also have an orange dreamsicle twist which is orange sherbet on side and vanilla soft serve on the other. Can't go wrong! What I like about the soft serve here is that it is not overly sweet. You don't get sick of eating all that soft serve. There are also a variety of dips. My husband loves the dark chocolate drizzle. Expect long lines but it's worth the wait!
google avatar

Keith H.

Yelp
Really solid soft serve ice cream. Prices don't seem to have changed in a decade. Wished I had time to stay and grab a burger. These kinds of places are a dying breed - you should swing by and support this business.

Chet R.

Yelp
The soft serve ice cream is nothing special - a lot of their flavors even taste like artificial chemicals. It melts very fast, and usually arrives to you already significantly melted. The staff is consistently rude. (Yelp censored my post when I tried to further expound upon my experiences). Be prepared to wait in an often lengthy line, especially during peak hours. Most importantly, this business location is very dangerous for patrons who ride bikes or walk to the ice cream shop. The shop is located right on a very busy intersection with cars traveling in excess of 60mph. Through the years there have been many collisions with pedestrians and bikers at this intersection, including a fatal collision in September 2020 when a bicyclist was struck and killed literally in front of Dairy Dream. If you choose to for go the bike trip, and take a car instead, you will still encounter frustrations as their parking lot is extremely small with really poorly conceived ingress and egress, leaving you to navigate through hordes of people and speeding cards. In summary: * The "soft serve" is average at best * The "customer service" is awful * It's in a dangerous location * It's a stressful and time-consuming experience
google avatar

Becca A.

Yelp
The ice cream is delicious! My favorite is a small pistachio with sprinkles - I keep it simple. I was surprised when we went to order food that their grill closed so early -especially in the summer. We wanted to order some food + ice cream at 6 PM but couldn't because the grill shuts down. It seemed early to me. There is typically a line, especially at peak times. The hardest part about visiting for me is location and difficulty entering/exiting the parking lot. When it's busy and the lot is full with cars it's very hard to navigate the lot. There is also very little lighting behind the building so when you're attempting to turn around be very careful.

Betsy M.

Yelp
This is not the Dairy Dream of even 10 years ago. The ice cream is icy not creamy the serving sizes are not consistent. Went tonight for the last time going to Dairy Queen right down the road from now on,
google avatar

Hersh A.

Yelp
I love this place. They have some of the best soft serve ice cream around. It's smooth and creamy. Greg's in Mundelein was my go to place prior to finding this place. Although, Greg's serve frozen custard as opposed to this place, I still dig this place more. They have 28 flavors of soft serve. I haven't had all but every time I go here I try to have a unique combo or concoction. I like their variety. The price are very reasonable. It's a family owned business and it's a local gem. Usually, pretty busy. They also serve some fast food like hot dogs. One of their unique concoctions is a Boston - shake or malt. It involves a milkshake or malt of your choice and it's topped with a soft serve sundae of your choice. It's heavenly. Go check this place out. I highly recommend it. It's worth your time.
google avatar

Jen J.

Yelp
Best summer ice cream spot for miles around. We love dairy dream. If you like sprinkles, and ask for some on your ice cream AND at the bottom of the cone. It will change your ice cream universe!!

Elizabeth H.

Yelp
This is a neighborhood favorite and we can walk here for a delicious treat, which is fun.
google avatar

Erin A.

Yelp
They have many unique flavors and a lot of outdoor seating which reminds me of the ice cream places I used to frequent as a kid. Their German Chocolate signature flavor is the perfect blend of coconut and chocolate and tastes JUST like the real cake!
google avatar

Mellissa G.

Yelp
One of the best ice cream spots around. I've never ordered anything that I have not been happy with, as they have such tasty soft serve. The employees are friendly and quick as well. Always a plus that they donate to different charities around. We need more places that give back locally. I've only ordered ice cream from here so I can't really give recommendations on the other parts of the menu, but for ice cream they offer so many soft serve flavors that there must be something out there for everyone! If I could choose one thing I find to highlight about this place, I would recommend the pistachio soft serve dipped in chocolate!
google avatar

Meghan H.

Yelp
Now, I'm usually not a big soft-serve ice cream gal. I always frown upon soft-serve as a much less flavorful imitation of the real deal ice cream, lacking in that creamy richness that makes hand-dipped ice cream so fantastic. BUT - I make a rare exception for a few soft-serve spots, Dairy Dream being one of these rarities. Most of my love for DD ties back to the fact that their soft-serve isn't just "chocolate or vanilla", instead they offer loads (like 30) of different ice cream flavors! Personally, I've experienced the cake batter, cappuccino, and maple nut varieties and all of those are quite scrumptious. The maple nut though is rrrreally my favorite - it is just soooo deliciously like maple syrup in soft-serve form :o I love that the mapley-ness is rather pronounced, seeing as typically, many of the funky-flavored soft-serves do not embody the potency of the flavor they are meant to represent. Rather, there exists a subtle undertone of flavor in each respective variety - blahh. Not with the maple nut! That right there is Aunt Jemima on a cone! :D
google avatar

Carl F.

Yelp
Finally, a place where the soft serve ice-cream taste as it should and not contain ice-crystals or remanence of another flavor. The dessert menu is somewhat extensive and they seem to have a good selection which will please just about everyone who likes ice-cream. The service is quick and the servings are of good portion. They even cook up hot-dogs and burgers... something to try another day. We'll definitely be checking back into this place!
google avatar

Amy A.

Yelp
Ever been to your favorite spot a dozen times, and find an amazing treat?! My co-worker told me to get a Boston. I was like, 'a wha'?' Boston: Ice cream Sunday made in a Malt! with any toppings you want. My co-worker gets the banana shake as his base, then gets strawberry/vanilla ice cream plus caramel, pineapple, strawberry & chocolate topping. Its his Boston Banana Split! When i went yesterday, i saw the guy fill a big cup full of my choice of Cake Batter ice cream. Then topped it with peanuts and cherries. Then he filled around it with chocolate malt. I was in pregnant heaven.
google avatar

Ellie P.

Yelp
I love the Glenview Dairy Bar the most, but this one is still amazing and much closer to my house! I got a chocolate vanilla swirl with rainbow sprinkles on a cake cone, and it was great. Perfect size too!
google avatar

Daniel B.

Yelp
A really cute little ice cream shop that certainly appeals to the inner kid. Coming here on a hot summer night could be a real treat! They also have some seating underneath some nearby trees, so you can enjoy the shade in case you visit during midday. The area is kinda easy to miss though, and the place does have an old feel to it. Dont let this deter you from visiting though. Also I regret not getting ice cream in a Cubs baseball helmet. Still a kid at heart!
google avatar

Allyson S.

Yelp
This place is perfect for a quick snack. I ordered a chocolate shake yesterday and loved it. The only problem was that I had to wait for 10 minutes for it! It's crazy but also crazy good
google avatar

Mike P.

Yelp
Really good, family focussed ice cream stand. Reminds of the places I used to go as a little kid. They have slush shakes! The root beer kind was very good. There was a line when we went. Even though it was barely in the 50s, it's May and people want to pretend it's warm and get ice cream. They staff moves it along pretty quickly so no worries on the wait for us. Definitely looking to go back and with two little boys, we probably will.
google avatar

Sara C.

Yelp
My family and I were so excited to try this place, but unfortunately we were all disappointed. My sister in law couldn't take more than one bite of hers and ended up throwing it out. The softserve tasted very artificial and it melted quickly (not cold enough). The flavored dips never hardened.
google avatar

Stephanie U.

Yelp
Such an awesome small business! Everyone who works here is so polite and always positive. Great ice cream and shakes too! Love to ride our bikes here in the summer. Definitely a gem of Libertyville, would recommend strongly!
google avatar

Lauren T.

Yelp
Dairy Dream is a Libertyville Staple. Especially in the summer time on a hot day when you are in the mood for a refreshing treat! Definitely go with a cone! One of the best spots in town for ice cream!

DJ L.

Yelp
This place is awesome! 28, yes 28 flavors of soft serve ice cream. Great service, ice cream was awesome. Plus something I really like about this place, the cones don't have that stupid paper around the bottom like DQ that is a pain in the rear to remove and usually you end up putting a hole in the cone or not getting all the paper off. Dairy dream, highly recommended
google avatar

Megan O.

Yelp
I ordered a cake for my boyfriend's birthday from Dairy Dream after searching reviews on yelp. I will definitely order again! I purchased an 8 inch confetti cake. They were kind enough to substitute cookie dough pieces for the usual Oreo, which is my boyfriend's favorite. The total was around $23. The cake was so tasty, beautiful, and worth every penny. I've been eating it for breakfast :) thanks so much!
google avatar

Lee-Ann C.

Yelp
Coconut soft serve dipped in milk chocolate. Sweet baby Jesus ....so delicious. The ice cream is nice and soft and not overly sweet which is superb maybe there are less calories than regular ice cream ignore me while I lie to myself and go back tomorrow

Northern L.

Yelp
Was craving ice cream but I didn't want just plain ol vanilla. Don't get me wrong, there's nothing wrong with some good old fashioned vanilla but what I was craving was something different. I was nearby waiting on someone & decided to search ice cream joints nearby with different flavors & this is what came up. When I saw the flavor selection I knew I had to go!... I bought a blackberry flavored ice cream with a large cone. Could I just say... "they had me at blackberry" so delicious! It was everything I dreamed of & more. I live about 30 mins from this place & I would definitely travel & go back to try some new flavors whenever the ice cream dream resurfaces!
google avatar

Kristen V.

Yelp
Soft serve, check. Multi flavors, check. Fun atmosphere, check. The best waffle cones ever, check. This is my favorite soft serve spot. I have to keep myself from going more than once a week. I love the fact that they take care when mixing up each concoction and always serve you with a smile.
google avatar

Monica D.

Yelp
Love this place! Great service, yummy selection (they also have savory bites, love their chili cheese fries), and location is perfect. My little one loves to run around on the bike trail and in the grass after he's enjoyed his treat.
