We have just returned from York and spent a lovely time there. We stayed at The Dairy Guest House and had such a wonderful time stay there. Mike could not do enough to welcome you and look after us. Good location and was so great that we did not have to worry about parking whilst there. Look forward to the next stay and many thanks again Mike for such a great weekend. Jan & Paul Kent

Stopped here for 3 nights with my girlfriend. We were given room 6 which was at the back of the main house via a small courtyard. The room was very spacious and spotless clean. Had plenty of tea and coffee and biscuits and chocolate which were replenished daily |Bed was very comfortable and pillows and bedding very nice, both slept very well .|Bathroom was good size and had every thing you required.|Breakfast was very tasty had full English |Omelette and pochard eggs all very good , location was just a 15 minute walk into the town centre but also pub and restaurant 5 minute walk.|Mike was very welcoming and does a fantastic job , we would both like to thank him for making a stay a very pleasant one .|Would definitely recommend. |

Its the second time we've stayed here and it didn't disappoint. We requested the same room, number 4, which has a lovely big shower. All the usual amenities plus a few extras like packs of biscuits and chocolate every day. Cooked Breakfast menu and preferred time to be filled in the day before. Plus you could cook your own toast, help yourself to cereal, yogurt, fresh fruit salad and fruit juice. Everything was within easy walking distance - railway station, many restaurants, river and hire boats and cruises and city centre. Mike was a pleasant host and although busy had time for a chat.

Lovely place to stay for York city access. Slightly disappointing shower in the room. The 4 poster bed mattress really needs to be looked at as there is a central lump that forces you to the side of the bed....also, but not critical, not easy to place the TV where a post doesn't affect the viewing....

Host was lovely and easy to get on with. Room was awesome for a solo traveller, best shower. Nice touches in the room was some wet wipes, some chocolate and selection of hot drinks. ||Breakfast was delicious and can eat Mike's poached eggs for the rest of my life. The rest of the food was excellent too, very nice seeded bread. Location is amazing and 10-20mins walk to town. ||I was worried about parking as I don't drive often. But I had no trouble parking on any of my 3 days. Although, the host knows best and the street is busy but I always had a spot free. Might be busier at peak times. ||Overall, I would stay and again and hope to do so. Thanks Mike : )

Quaint and charming, our stay at the bed and breakfast just outside of York's city walls was delightful. The cozy atmosphere welcomed us as soon as we stepped through the door. Our room was beautifully decorated and offered a comfortable night's rest after a day of exploring the city. The breakfast spread in the morning was delicious, with a variety of options to suit every taste. The friendly staff made us feel right at home and provided helpful tips for navigating the area. Only a 10 minute walk to the city it felt part of the city without having to pay the extra for the pleasure! We enjoyed an early morning walk along the wall one one morning before breakfast and really made the most of the stay here. Overall, a lovely experience that added to our visit to York.

We have stayed in York many times in the last few years and decided this time to travel by train rather than the long drive. We have stayed in lots of hotels and air bnb’s and this time decided to try the dairy guest house. We had room two with the lovely bay window over looking the front and the room was beautifully decorated, very comfortable and had everything we needed for our two night stay. The bathroom was tiny but for a short stay was perfectly adequate for our needs. The property is a 15 minute walk to the city centre, so very well located, there are some nice shops, cafe’s, restaurants and bars in the Bishy Rd parade which is literally on the doorstep. The reason for my rating is just based on how we felt, we have always felt wholeheartedly welcomed wherever we have stayed in the area. Perhaps it is us, so please don’t let us put you off, but we felt like we weren’t really wanted. On the first morning we arrived at breakfast at our allotted time, the service was good but not friendly. I mentioned quietly, as these things do happen, that my sausage wasn’t cooked and was raw in the middle. There was no apology or can I get you something else, it was just taken away. It doesn’t matter but then the following morning I felt there was an atmosphere. The guest house is managed in a rather draconian way with strict rules for check in time, needing to choose exact time and content of breakfast the day before, none of it a big deal but not what we are used to. So would I recommend the Dairy Guest house, well yes of course I would based on location and comfort but do not expect your host to be warm and welcoming. Overall we had a nice time but would not choose to stay here again.

We had a fabulous stay at the Dairy Guest House while visiting family in York. Mike was a wonderful host and made us feel very welcome. Our room was in the pretty courtyard at the rear of the property and was very quiet and peaceful – we wouldn't have known there was a road at the front of the house.||The room was clean, spacious and comfortable, and had everything we needed for a relaxing few nights. Breakfost was good too. We chose not to have the cooked breakfast, but it was just what we wanted and very fresh and tasty.||Thank you for a perfect stay Mike. We hope to be back before too long!
