I was there for the first time. It was a wonderful experience, from the beautiful flowers outside, the place to seat and enjoy the fresh weather. Inside a home atmosphere with that attractive train at the ceiling and so clean tables and gentle service. Highly recommend for a family.

Google
Fun train-themed restaurant. The shakes are very amazing, the fries are very good, and the burgers are just pretty good. Fun place to eat though. There’s a drive through and also seating both inside and outside. The backdrop in Heber is beautiful. Definitely worth going to.

Google
Unique burger stop. Model train is their calling card. The Train Burger was loaded and tasty. Good fries. Friendly staff. Worth checking out if you're in Heber.

Google
Amazing burger spot in Heber! If you are ever passing through or need a hearty meal after camping for several days in the wilderness this is the spot. Onion rings are next level and the shake flavors will boggle your mind. This is the kind of train I like. That fry sauce doesn't know what is coming its way!

We drive from Highland Utah just to eat at this place. Sure, we have food where we live, but not THIS food. We come for the fries, and the burgers. We leave with one of the best shakes in the world. The line is often all the way out the door and down the street. They will probably never make a chain out of it, but a girl can dream. They just need to find the right location, if they ever did build another location. I wish they would, but I’m also happy to drive all the way here just to eat here. I love the trains and that part of the atmosphere. The only struggle is conveying what you want at the register. You have to speak really loud to be heard, or your order will be wrong. The fries are worth buying extra, because they’re just as good when you reheat them. If the staff can hear you when you speak. The food is 10/10…

I thought this place would be a dump for some reason but it exceeded my expectations! Burger was delicious and shakes were so good—I got a seasonal one and definitely recommend trying the shakes. They were delicious. The fries are either double fried or beer battered. They were so good. It was busy so I think it says something about the place.

Google
The restaurant has a very unique atmosphere and is even in a video game called American Truck Simulator! The raspberry shake was really good and big! Kinda expensive for a shake but was good. Menu was a bit confusing with items all over and even taped to the walls. Cute interior but is quite dated.

Google
We love coming here when we visit the area. The trains are so fun. Now that our children are grown, we love watching other's children enjoy the trains. The outdoor train car seats are so fun. This year, we got our grown daughter to sit in the engine for a fun picture for old time sake. The shakes did not disappoint! Great food options for lunch or dinner.

Yelp
So the good was the food came out quick and hot, and that was about it. The food was....not great, with the exception of the fries, the fries are battered so they were incredible. I can't say anthing bad about the fries. The burgers were meh at best. Just nothing really all that special, and the price was higher than what the quality was. It was very busy so the area wasn't that clean, hard to knock that with how busy they were, but I have to mention it.

Yelp
I understand why this a Heber staple! The place is nostalgic in all the best ways. Menu is your standard diner food -- burgers, chicken fingers, grilled cheese, sandwiches. Their standout is obviously the shakes. They're 10/10, I wish I wasn't so overwhelmed with options. Parking can be busy on a weekend but it's helpful that it's an order at the counter place. Despite it being busy service was great!

Yelp
This is such a fun place to eat! The trains are amazing to go around ceilings. There's different that they go through showing the different terrains in Utah. The menu is pretty large so there's something for everyone. And the shakes are amazing! I even found a banana split on the menu. I was so happy! I got a turkey avocado sandwich, french fries, and before mentioned banana split. It was awesome! They downsize was that it was extremely crowded. But we still were able to find a table no problem. So it really was not an inconvenience at all.

Yelp
This place is a legend. It's your classic small town diner with great burgers and fries and even better shakes. The theme is trains and they've decked the place out with them making the ambiance so fun. Our order came out super fast even though the place was packed and it was a Friday night. My raspberry shake was scrumptious and I am told it's made with real raspberries!! We tried our friends sundaes and shakes and enjoyed everything - they don't skimp on toppings, mix-ins, or flavor!! We love this mom and pop shop and will always stop by for some frozen dairy when we're in the area.

Yelp
To me, this place is a must-go in Heber. I cannot count how many times I've been here but we go multiple times a year when we are camping in Heber. The food is great and reasonable. It's a family run place. They have tons of kids stuff to do and they don't charge for their sauces which a lot of other places do nowadays. Staff is nice and they are pretty efficient considering .

Yelp
Not bad! Fun little local restaurant that's a must-try if you're passing through Heber City! My wife got the Train Cheeseburger, and I got the Ranch Cheeseburger. The ranch was ok, nothing too spectacular. Tasted mostly like a normal cheeseburger with a hint of ranch. My wife loved the Train Cheeseburger though. The fries are killer! Perfectly salted, golden, and crispy but with a soft inside! The employees were super friendly, especially our cashier- he was an older man with a cheerful disposition! :) always makes for good company when you find an employee like him!

Yelp
Ice cream was a hit. 5/5 ice cream was very good and firm and the toppings were fresh!

Yelp
Fun atmosphere and prompt service. I had the bacon cheese burger which was flavorful and the right size. The fries flavor was over powered by grease. After several attempts to smoother with ketchup the result was the same. Bland and disappointing. W we have visited here several times before where it seems the fry experience was maybe a one time thing. The shakes are pretty good. Not the worse or best. We prefer Granny's for shakes.

Thomas C.

Yelp
We came in with a large group and there was a line out the door. Even with the crowd our food came out quickly. Our young kids thought the train was cool and the atmosphere was definitely family friendly. The food was nothing special we ordered some of their peach shakes that were behinds advertised as in season special. When we got our shakes they looked like they were pre-made with a hard frozen portion on top. It was disappointing. The Tots were good. Not sure I will be coming back anytime soon.

Yelp
It's been about 10 years since we were in Heber City and since we ate here. True to my memory, the burgers and milk shakes were outstanding yesterday. No wonder it is such a popular place. We both had the Railroad burger (#1 on the menu). It really hit home and the fries were awesome, not the commonly available ones. These wee coated with something that I've only found in a couple places. The fresh raspberry shakes here saved me a trip to Bear Lake. I can't wait to get back.

Yelp
We ordered 3 gluten free sandwiches and a couple milkshakes and it was $73 dollars! Then they have the audacity to ask for a tip over the drive-thru intercom. Tipping should be reserved for employees working in service where the level of service received is part of what goes into the tip. Asking for a tip for people who are not working in a service position is wrong. Then, wouldn't you know, they got one of the sandwiches wrong and one of the milkshakes wrong. We have really enjoyed Dairy Keen in the past, but their prices are not worth what you get in terms of food or service.

Yelp
For the first time in years, I stopped in with family after riding the Heber Creeper. As a rule, I don't eat fast food. It's just not for me. However, the kids were losing their minds and everyone needed a quick bite. It was absolute madness inside. There were so many people that I have no idea how the staff kept up with orders. Service was excellent. The cashier taking orders is the owner and my third grade teacher. I was delighted to see him still loving life. The best part? This might be gluten free heaven. I've never been to a burger joint with such an extensive GF menu. It's basically everything. And, because there are celiacs in the owners' family, there are dedicated fryers and gf bread. I ordered a burger, which was pretty good and didn't fall apart. I wish I'd gone for one of the soups because the weather was perfect for it. I also was able to buy a gf mint Oreo shake. I split it with my partner. So good!!! I can't remember the last time I was able to buy an Oreo shake, especially not having to worry about contamination. Dairy keen is so busy at dinner time that we had to wait for a table, but there was a cool trainset for the kids to play with. The cool old train around the ceiling is still there, delighting children of all ages. I would like to see someone out in the lobby cleaning tables more often, but, otherwise, it was a great nostalgic experience.

Prestley M.

Yelp
The menu shows the price of $6.64 for a banana split and it says choose two toppings. You will however, be charged a dollar for those two toppings making at $7.74. Just be honest why won't you? By the way, check out the picture. These aren't really toppings. It's more like a soup of ingredients. Gross. Never again.

Yelp
First time visit today. Locals and tourists must love this place. Business was humming. Speed of the order was fast and quite remarkable, considering the crowd. Both my wife and I did not like the burgers. Mine was waaaay salty. The veggies seemed off. I could not finish mine...which is rare. My wife complained about how small the patty was. Ice cream was good. The fries looked good, although we did not order those. Based on the crowd, I'm in the minority, but give me Dairy Queen anyday, before Dairy Keen.

Yelp
Best ice cream in Heber no doubt. Also the onion rings are rlly good. Trust me bro ima fat ass.

Yelp
This place has become a bit of a family tradition. We try and do the Heber Valley Polar Express around Christmas time each year and we always finish our night with some food from Dairy Keen. The owners of this place have done such a good job at building a mediocre burger joint into a must see attraction. Honestly the food is just okay but the environment and large menu offerings make this place a must visit anytime you're in the Heber area. On my most recent visit I got the Cheeseburger meal deal. The cheeseburger was okay but the thing I really have to commend them on is their Gluten Free options. Almost anything you see on the menu can be made gluten free and you just don't see that anywhere so service is just another reason to visit this place.

Ezra F.

Yelp
Burgers were amazing! Although the onion ring looks like packaged/store bought foods per say I ordered my burger plain and there was lettuce at the bottom of the burger they need to pay attention Service: as you read they put lettuce on the bottom of my burger pay more attention!!
google avatar

Yelp
This is the most disgusting all of those paper straw bags to keep the plastic from germs there all on the ground and the chicken tender skin things yea your stepping on them. The are so many little kids running in the place and screaming. The workers don't even mind to clean the place up

Trenton G.

Yelp
It's where the locals eat in Heber! The train is fun and the burgers are done right! I love the fact that I can get Sloppy Joes on Wednesday! Not many places that you can do that!
google avatar

Ashlie M.

Yelp
This place was slammed when we went but somehow still got our food quick! Even with ordering gluten free (usually takes so much longer to get). My daughter was thrilled at all the options eating gluten free especially all the shake options. All the food came out hot, fresh and delicious! Can't wait to go back.

Yelp
Driving through town on a road trip. And came across this place. YUM!! Wish I could have tried it all. Burgers were great! And the shakes, amazing!!

Yelp
A place to skip if your in the heber area. Service is incredibly slow and very lazy. Every time i come here the experience gets much worse and the prices sky rocket. Inside is always either too loud or disgusting. The shakes are way to over priced to enjoy and the food is pretty average.

Yelp
My wife and I visited this restaurant with our two kids (4 yo and 2 yo) after riding the Heber Valley train on a Wednesday afternoon in late Aug after school had started. At 2pm there was actually a ton of people there. The dining area was pretty clean (what you'd expect from a fast food joint). What made this place amazing for the kids was the model train that circled the dining area near the ceiling, the play model trains, and the Lego table. We ordered two medium shakes (raspberry cheesecake and turtle). Both came in a paper cup that was inside a styrofoam cup to keep it extra cold (which is kinda genius). The raspberry cheesecake shake was based with vanilla and had real raspberries and little chunks of cheesecake. It was pretty firm for a shake (good). The turtle (which we were told by the server was the best shake they made) was based with chocolate and had pecans and caramel. It was a bit softer than I'd like, but it's a milkshake... The kids wanted to play and watch the trains so we hung out for a while. I had read a couple of reviews that mentioned their fish and fries...and I'm a sucker for fish and chips... so I ordered the fish and fries dinner to share (albeit a tiny bit) with the rest of the family. The meal included three medium sized pieces of cod, more than a few French fries, a small yeast roll with butter, cole slaw, and tartar sauce. As mentioned in other reviews, the fish was really good. I enjoy malt vinegar on my fish (which they had plenty of). The fries were also very good. The two medium shakes were just over $16. The fish and fries dinner with a medium soft drink was just over $11. Contrary to previous reviews, I was not asked for a tip at any point. In fact, I don't think I had any opportunity during the checkout process. We will definitely will come back when we are in the area.

Sarah L.

Yelp
Fun atmosphere! My toddler boy was mesmerized by the train going around the restaurant. The onion rings and sweet potato fries were yummy! Definitely a must try when you're in town!

Yelp
I was excited to try this place after reading the story of how the owner has Celiac disease and has a gluten free menu because I am also sensitive to gluten so I can relate to them. I ordered a cheeseburger with a gf bun. I'm used to paying an up charge for a gf bun at other places so I wasn't surprised to get an $2.49 up charge for my bun. However, I was also up charged $0.50 for a milkshake I ordered because of my gf intolerance. So you're telling me that you don't clean your mixing machines after each use and therefore I have to pay for their uncleanliness? When I asked the employee taking my order as to why I'm being uncharged she gave me a big attitude about it and took it off. I was further punished by the awful service of having to wait for my number to be called after 10 minutes of having my shake sit there on the counter before my food was ready. So if you're new to Utah you will find that most places serve shakes that are thick and served with a spoon instead of a straw. My shake ended up needing a straw because it sat there melting on the counter. It's hard enough trying to find a restaurant that serve gf items, it's even harder paying more than the average customer for those items. I would think the owner would understand these dilemmas & not hit their fellow gf customers in their wallets.

Yelp
I read the reviews and I was prepared for loud children. But I wasn't. I want to say it's not their fault but it's kinda the ambiance they foster there. The food was ok. Nothing spectacular. Something about putting each burger in a plastic clamshell seems hella wasteful. Overall it was trying to eat a Wendy's style burger in complete chaos and it gave me indigestion.

Yelp
We decided to stop in and give this place a try figuring that our kids would love the train theme. And this did not disappoint it has a great old time burger joint feel with train decorations galore. Our kids absolutely loved seeing the Santa train driving around the ceiling and playing with the train toys in the corner. Our food was delicious we had the ranch burger and the deluxe chicken sandwich both of which were good. The fries were probably our favorite part and they have a really good fry sauce to go with them. Definitely give this place a try if you are in the Heber or Midway area.

Yelp
Many of the workers including the manager are rude every time i've walked through those doors. experienced racist behavior as well when working there.
google avatar

Yelp
Get there early this place is popular. Great ice cream and the railroad deco is a lot of fun.
google avatar

Ana M.

Yelp
Their shakes are very good and appeared to be made with real fruit as there were 2 stems in the raspberry shake. They used real Oreos in their Oreo shake but just not enough. Their fries are fantastic, very crispy. Their burgers were ok but they got our order wrong and they use process white cheese for their "Swiss" cheese. We had eat outside because we had our dog, and it was total chaos, with a large number of kids jumping on the tables and their trains--because the mechanical trains were not working and because parents just did not care--, there was even a loud argument between two customers because one customer told the other that she should not let her kids jump on the tables. DK has a sign but it is not big enough and people just don't care--there was more than one group with kids doing this.
google avatar

Brooke R.

Yelp
Initially I gave it three stars for being a decent burger and fry joint. But then I enjoyed shakes and twist cones and Lime Rickey's throughout many summers and bumped it up to four. But now after three seasons of homemade soups, and my first foray into the Swiss bread I have to give it a five! Seriously the homemade soup and homemade bread is worth the five! Such a great cold day lunch! Usually I just get it to go and the drive through service is friendly. Having eaten inside only once it is what you would expect, bustling and loud with lots of kids and families when it is busy, but clean and outdoor seating for less chaos.

Yelp
Omg. The Italian Wedfing Soup. Was amazing. This place is great for much more then burgers. I will be stopping by for soups from now on.
google avatar

Yelp
Great milkshakes and staff was helpful and enjoyable! Stopped in after a train ride and loved the decor as well as the milkshakes!
google avatar

Shea H.

Yelp
Holy cow - the gluten free options here are AMAZING!! Buns, chicken tenders, all their soups, Gf Oreo shakes, a dedicated fryer and the list goes on and on! They get their buns from a baker in SLC, and they were pretty good! Stopped in on our drive through town, and they did not disappoint! Had the bacon guacamole burger (I didn't realize till after I ordered their breaded chicken sandwiches could come GF) and it was REALLY good! Wish we'd had time to grab a shake - next time! The owner was actually the one to take our order, and having celiac herself, she was extremely knowledgeable and helpful!
google avatar

Holly D.

Yelp
Food was great!!! Milk shakes delicious - turtle, peppermint & butterfinger. I tried the Train burger it was great. Kids had fun with the trains & Lego table.
google avatar

Nicole N.

Yelp
Great little spot for some family-friendly ice cream. Didn't get food but was able to enjoy a milkshake that was absolutely delightful. Looks like a popular spot. So refreshing to have a smaller burger/fry/shake joint that's not corporate owned. Definitely will need to return to test out a burger. Service was quick - they give you a buzzer so you can wander around and not have to worry about missing your order pick up.
google avatar

Alan D.

Yelp
Rode the train and then wanted to follow-up experience with a burger and shake. I know it's a kind of a long time local spot ( and those often don't live up to the hype) but hey, it's always crowded so let's give it a try. Well, unfortunately it didn't deliver. Just a mediocre fast food burger and I got the cookie dough shake. Not sure exactly what I was expecting but I didn't expect a vanilla soft serve with some chunks of cookie dough in it. Not sure where the "shake" was. In all fairness, wife got chocolate "shake" and she said it was pretty good...just not a shake. Disappointed best describes our experience.
google avatar

Debra M.

Yelp
Best place in Heber! We were in town for soccer tournament and this joint was hopping! Jam packed. We were waited on by a happy excited employee and served in remarkably good time. The food and shakes were delish. The kids loved watching the train, playing with the train and building blocks. If you are in town don't miss it!

Melissa R.

Yelp
Staff was sweet and helpful. Service was crazy fast considering how busy it was and how great the food was. Burger and fries were awesome! My little one had the small strawberry sundae and it did not disappoint! Very obviously had fresh strawberries in it. So so good!!
google avatar

Pete J.

Yelp
This place is an institution from what I hear. However they have not rested on their laurels. Menu is burgers, fries, onion rings, with other Americana cuisine. What made me happy was finally finding a restaurant that did not charge more for vege burgers than they do for regular burgers. The place was very clean, busy but fast and the staff was extremely friendly.
google avatar

Rannie G.

Yelp
I love this place, employees are always friendly & the food quality still the same. But it can be too loud because of the kids but that's alright the food still good

Todd C.

Yelp
Great service from a family-owned business who are very supportive to the community. Burgers are always a good choice and are done well.

Yelp
The short: Go for the ice cream!! Great for kids! The long: Dairy Keen is a fun local restaurant in Heber. Similar to Iceburg, it offers burgers, chicken, a couple of salads, and a lot of ice cream and shakes. The burgers and fries are decent, the salad I had was sub-par. But the ice cream? Wow, that's a treat! If nothing else, Dairy Keen is a great family restaurant, especially for those with small children. Kids meals are cheap and the train theme is fun--there is a electric locomotive that circles around the ceiling inside the restaurant and a fun Harry Potter Train iSpy game inside the dining area. I'm not in Heber a lot, but Dairy Keen is a classic that I'll keep coming back to!

Maya M.

Yelp
Great food and such a kid friendly, unique atmosphere. Definitely recommend. The ice cream shakes are yummy.

Alyssa O.

Yelp
Very disappointed, customer service. I feel it is very important for an employee to be kind while ordering food. Instead of after ordering an item, and it followed with a deep breath/ sigh from employee.

Lance C.

Yelp
I drive through about once a week and order a shake, with the THIN option - so I can enjoy it while driving - through a straw. The odds of actually getting it made THIN is about 30% of the time and worse, when they finally get it right they forget the straw! It staggers the imagination how bad the service is. And the ultimate irony is, they ask during the purchase if I would care to leave a tip, in advance. I don't tip until I receive the product and evaluate whether a tip has been earned.
google avatar

Belinda O.

Yelp
Good food for after snow activities. Nothing amazing or out of this world, but they have their own specialty burgers that I think are worth trying. The train burger and the guacamole one. Their "shakes" remind me of McFlurries. Fries are good and the sauce they have for it is interesting. Don't love or hate the sauce. Definitely worth trying. Enjoy.

Yelp
I'm up in Heber a lot more than I used to be and have been trying to visit every restaurant here. Dairy Keen is a Heber staple and has been for years. Fortunately for Heber, better food has come along. While Dairy Keen still has the train, good shakes, and is open year round, other places have started popping up that I give the edge to for burgers, fries, etc. I'll still stop by for the occasional shake and food when I don't have time for other places (the drive thru is nice and actually less common than you'd think up here), but it's kind of starting to feel like the Dairy Keen era has come to an end.
