The breaded tenderloin was a GIANT hit, both in size and taste. Not too much breading, cooked just right, juicy loin, choice of toppings, and only $8 or something like that. Nice clean space including the bathrooms. Busy, busy with both dine in and take out. Lots of sandwiches, wraps, fried sides, ice cream to choose from. The cheese curds were also delicious! Spicy and traditional. They weren't kidding for the spicy, they packed some heat. Our server wasn't overly pleasant and we waited close to 30 minutes for our check. But hey- the tenderloin was divine.

Stopped in during a Sunday drive and had the best drive-in type/cafe food! There was a generous serving of battered shrimp with sweet potato fries. Nice, clean, easy atmosphere with friendly staff. A local was eating some tasty looking fried chicken. We took shakes with us which were far superior to any fast food attempt. *We'll be back soon! We"ll be back soon.

IOWA Pork's best tenderloin!!! Dairy Sweet is in Harrison County in the Boyer River Valley on the Lincoln highway which is arguably one of the nicest drives in the state. A Cafe style restaurant that looks like it could serve a tasty pancake and egg. Well, their multi-award winning tenderloin is no pancake! This hot from the fryer 8-9oz loin must start an over inch thick! Tenderized to the point it is bigger than a bun, yet thick enough to stay juicy. The secret is in the breading they say.. It is 3D breading. Light and thin, yet the clumps of breading give it texture and taste. A hearty appetite is required....I'm glad I only snacked for lunch. Curly fries would be an appropriate side, but I went non-midwest with a side salad. Here is what makes Dairy Sweet taste all the better....the price! $10.65 gets you a sandwich, side, and drink! Highly recommend. Great service. Clean restaurant. Fantastic food.

Love this place. If your driving down HWY 30, this is a must stop place. The Pork Tenderloin sandwich is amazing! Their ice-cream is awesome. Service is always incredible!

Google
Nice place! Pleasent small town local experience! I was skeptical about the claims that they have the best pork tenderloin sandwich in Iowa.. So, I drove an hour to check it out! And I have to admit, it's pretty damn good! I can see how it's the Best of Iowa this year! Totally recommend! You will not be disappointed! Prices are so reasonable! The wedges are also A-1!

We live in southeast Iowa, (Keosauqua), and were returning from vacationing in Canada, and decided to stop in to try the states best tenderloin in 2024, and it did not disappoint! Wonderful, light, crispy, flaky breading, with the tenderloin itself very tasty, and very tender. I have to say, it's the best tenderloin I've ever had. The service however did lack somewhat, as after our food was initially served, the wait staff never returned to check on food quality, or drink refills. Overall, a nice, clean restaurant.

Yelp
I called on a Saturday morning to ask if they were open/their hours because I was driving over an hour each way and the person that answered clearly needed more sleep because she couldn't have been more rude. Maybe they're tired of out of towners because there were lots of others there trying out the tenderloin too. We got there and they told us to sit wherever and they'd come wait on us. We waited for 15 min and they "forgot" about us. The girl didn't even get the order right thinking she heard chocolate milk instead of chocolate malt. The tenderloin is 100% not the best in Iowa as I've had many better. The breading is way too thick and the meat tastes and looks like it's minced meat stuck together to form a patty. There was no taste to it. Giving 2 stars because the ice cream was amazing, the potato wedges were seasoned perfectly and the best part of the meal, and I have a special place in my heart for small town Iowa restaurants but would not recommend going back or driving a distance for it.

Yelp
When you are ranked the number one Iowa pork tenderloin sandwich, your restaurant is very likely going to be great regardless of what some uptight previous Yelp reviews may suggest regarding service. I'll say that they were friendly to me and my service dog, and I have no complaints at all about this place. If you do have a dog, it's best to prepare to eat in your car as there isn't a dedicated space outdoors for your pups. But its fine. You are here for pork sandwiches and possibly ice cream, and on both fronts, you'll be happy. The pork sandwich isn't as monstrous as some you may have seen online, but the pork does extend well past the bun. The bun itself is rather pedestrian hamburger bun, but the golden flaky crust on the pork is excellent. I loved the actual pork as well. This place exudes local flavor and I suspect local sourcing. Also excellent was the ice cream malt. I ordered a nice butterscotch one. It was wonderfully sweet without entering into the world of cloying. I would recommend pairing your pork sandwich with a malt. Overall, it's a bit of a drive, but I'm glad I made it. Not sure how this Midwestern treasure hasn't been subject to a food trend, but I'm sure it's time will come and you should experience it before the "discovery" occurs.

Yelp
The Pork Tenderloin was super abundant and tasty! Chicken tenders, cheeseburger, cheese balls, sweet potatoes and fries were all excellent! Waitresses were friendly and helpful. We were traveling from Omaha to NW Iowa and this was a pleasant stop. The grandkids were happy! Plenty of friendly locals were enjoying the food too!

Yelp
They're very friendly people and makes you feel at home. This place draws people from excitement to be there. And that pork tenderloin cannot be beat from my point of view. And if you want ice cream! Oh my they do not disappoint. A very inviting place to be.

Yelp
I'm going to preface this review by saying manage your expectations. Other reviewers complained about peanut issues when someone in their party has a peanut allergy...managing this aspect of your dining experience is your own responsibility. Yes, the staff should absolutely assist with your needs, but it's your responsibility to make sure the staff is adequately informed about your needs. Allergies aside, yes, the staff is made up of young kids, so again, manage your expectations! You can't go into a place like this expecting bad service because it's kids that work there, with that mindset bad service is exactly what you'll get. The last two times my husband and I went to Dairy Sweet with our kids, the staff was helpful and very accommodating. We tipped accordingly. NOW - THE FOOD - it's just great. Always served hot and fresh with large portions. The curly fries are what you wish Arby's had. We've tried the breaded chicken sandwich (regular and spicy versions - both great), the tenderloin (HUGE), burgers, regular and curly fries, onion rings, and ice cream. The quality can be compared to other restaurants in the same category but the food is much better than similar restaurants in terms of taste, freshness, and value. We don't live in Dunlap but anytime we're anywhere near, we like to hit up Dairy Sweet. Hasn't let us down yet!

Yelp
I can see why this is clearly a favorite of the local population. The hamburgers appeared to be made by hand (not frozen) and the size and crunch of my pork tenderloin sandwich was impressive. The broasted potato wedges that I had with it were also tasty outside and fluffy inside. Service was very good, and I wished that I had room for one of the great ice cream creations that I saw heading out of the kitchen.

Yelp
0 stars for the service but 4 stars for the food The Good: We were recommended this place by a friend while passing g through here and it did not disappoint!! The tenderloins tasted delicious. Our son's BLT was also a great meal for him and with the curly fries as a side provided a good dinner. Our tenderloins were cooked to perfection and had plenty of toppings as well. The jalapeño poppers had just the right amount of kick, which provided for a tasty appetizer for us. Tomatoes, onions, and lettuce was fresh on our sandwiches as well. The Bad: The high-school aged kids working here have a lot to learn about customer service. I had to ask a couple times for extra mayo for my meal and it still took her about half way through my meal to finally bring it over. I had to go to the counter and ask for more coffee if I wanted to have it refilled also. Not really the service I would want anywhere. I HATE peanuts and my oreo tornado tastes like peanuts half way through my cup, which tells me it was made after some peanut butter dessert. When we tried to tell them about it and voice our concern and disappointment we were just told it wasn't made after peanut items and they walked off. The Ugly Truth: Great food but not worth returning here for horrible service and denial of any accountability when they were alerted about a mishap. Good thing I only have a very mild allergy to peanuts and not have to deal with severe anaphylactic shock, like others, because that could have ended badly for me. I was in the middle of writing this review when the peanut thing happened and had this place rated at a 4 star but nope all done here and not returning..... VERY DISAPPOINTED in the horrible service

Yelp
High quality food at reasonable prices. I always get the breaded tenderloin. It's thick and juicy, not one of them hammered out thin pieces of meat

Yelp
We were referred here by some good friends because the #1 tenderloins. Sadly we will never be returning.. The tenderloins were pretty darn good as well as the jalapeno poppers, BLT sandwich and the curly fries.. The customer service is horrible and I think there needs to be an actual adult working front of house, not all young kids. My son ordered a peanut butter and m&m tornado he loved it. We ordered an oreo and caramel tornado (to share), the first couple bites were good then we both took a bite and it was pure peanut butter.. Neither of us eat peanut butter because my husband had a mild allergy to peanut butter.. I immediately went to the counter and spoke to a young girl and said "sorry to bother you but can you tell me if our oreo tornado was made after the peanut butter tornado on the same beater without being cleaned?" she rolled her eyes and scoffed and said "no, we would never do that." I told her that ours had peanut butter in the bottom and that we could not eat it. She scoffed again and walked around me to leave the conversation... If my husband had a bad reaction to the peanut butter it could have been very bad for them but thankfully his reactions don't get that bad.. I will never be able to recommend this spot to anyone I know because of this horrible customer service OR lack there of!!! Thank you for the lack of compassion and acceptance of a mistake (that we all know happen to everyone) and if there had been any sort of acknowledgment we would have left a better review but we cannot.

Yelp
Another trip to Iowa and another stop to try the best pork tenderloins of Iowa. I found it to be a great tenderloin but not the best. My daughter and I also got some hot fudge sundaes and as she would say "Meh". I suppose they are alright, I don't know how to make it better. I wore a mask most of the time in there. I get that it is a small town with a low case count of Covid-19 so nobody else had masks on. I wonder if anybody there got concerned that they shared a space with someone from Texas.

Yelp
Dairy Sweet is our go-to place when we want something quick. Unfortunately there just aren't many other options in town. Recently we have noticed a huge issue with getting our orders wrong. A few weeks ago they forgot my philly steak sandwich, even though the girl at the drive through said "You have the philly steak sandwich and a tenderloin?" I got home and the philly steak was missing. I went back. No apologies offered. Yesterday I ordered a turkey club. You would think you would get a slice or two of turkey on a turkey club. Apparently not at Dairy Sweet. I got 2 slices of bacon, 2 slices of tomato and a ton of lettuce. No turkey. Hopefully if enough people complain or stop eating here, maybe someone will take notice of the help they are employing.

Yelp
This is a great lil mom and pop place to eat. They make their own hand beaten, hand breaded tenderloin sandwiches. They have been featured in the Omaha World Herald newspaper for the tenderloins. For the small town they are in they are kinda of expensive but the tenderloins are worth the price. They are now open all year round which is nice. Every other Dairy Sweet in the area is closed for the winter.

Yelp
Best tenderloin sandwich I have ever eaten. Hand cut and breaded, and it's huge! Served in a basket with fries, you will definitely not go hungry. Great locally owned business.

Yelp
Really good Pork Tenderloin sandwich. The breading tastes great and the pork itself thick and well seasoned. The broasted potatoes were well seasoned and good. (Think giant potato wedges) My M&M Tornado with chocolate ice cream was also spot on. (Ice cream is soft serve) Great little inexpensive spot to score delicious unhealthy food!
