Dakshinapan is a popular marketplace of Kolkata . It's located in Dhakuria, Kolkata . There are so many shops. This market is popular for women's wear and junk jwellery specially . Almost all State's Handloom and Handicrafts showroom are gathered under one roof here. Biswa Bangla showroom is available. Showroom of shoes are also here. You will get snakes also . There are two small restaurants are also here.

Great place for traditional wear and handloom products, Biswa Bangla my favourite and Arti facts , and Dolly’s tea.

I have always found good choices for gifts from these emporiums.When it started years back, shops in Dakshinapan offered varieties with reasonable pricing. However, with passage of time, it has become a hanging out place for sections of the community, and the shops therein charge little bit extra than the Gariahat market, which is so close(two bus-stops away).Dakshinapan shopping complex is a sprawling places having showrooms of all the states where one can buy authentic products at fixed prices. Besides the showrooms it has numerous shops selling readymade garments at reasonable rates, many khadi outlets, Khadim showroom, and Silence, This is one of the largest market in Dhakuria area. Toy horse made in Bankura are available .That you can’t find in new malls .We get to see sarees like tantuja, maslin, dhakai, baluchari that are of West Bengal and pure .We can bargain with the price that is not possible in new malls.Many old shops, spa, salon, tea shops of WB government collected from Darjeeling.Its pure .Dakshinspan may not have that glamour but it has a touch of oldness.I go there at least once a year and buy handicraft items, sarees, curtain etc .You can get good quality product and yes bargaining is possible .A lot of cars can be parked here. You will find so many states stores here . specially handlooms. If you look for Indian gifts you can come here specially for ladies sarees. It is worth a visit.

A few days back I visited Dakshinapan in Gariahat for buying some regional sarees. I had a mixed bag of experiences, offering both enjoyable moments and a few drawbacks which I would like to share with you all Pros: Great Hangout Spot: The place is ideal for spending quality time with friends and family. Cultural Variety: There are a diverse range of shops offering regional handicrafts and products from different states. Lively Atmosphere: The vibrant ambiance adds to the overall experience, making it a delightful place to visit. Cons: High Prices: In my opinion regional products are significantly overpriced. For example: Ajrakh print modal silk saree costs 7,500 rupees, whereas it’s usually available for 4,000 to 5,000 rupees. Muga silk saree from Assam is priced at 75,000 rupees, which is far beyond typical expectations. While Dakshinapan is a great destination for a day out with loved ones and for appreciating regional crafts, it may not be the best place for purchasing items if you’re on a budget. The prices are quite high, so consider visiting primarily for the experience rather than for shopping. Hope this helps :)

An excellent place for Indian Handicrafts and Handloom and Jewellery.Every state has it's own emporium. Mrignayani (M P state emporium) is the best place for shopping. Love there Dokra handicrafts collection.

Beautiful place, very big shopping site in Kolkata. Huge numbers of clothes and handicrafts available here. So much variety available also. Price is budget friendly. You can spend a quality time in this place. Huge numbers of young generation gathering here. So much fashionable jewelries available. Communication is so easy. Hunger people are also go to this place because there have so much testy food stall.
