This was a hard reservation for us to get prior to arriving to Rome. I wonder how easy would it have been to do a walk in. Anyway, the food was one of the best we had in Rome. Also, it didn’t feel touristy at all. At our lunch seating, everyone was speaking Italian. So glad we got to finally try it. Would def recommend.

We had an amazing evening at Dal Bolognese! Despite a mix-up with our reservation for 14 people, they still managed to accommodate us on the spot. As a kind gesture, they even offered us complimentary aperitivo glasses. The service was exceptional—funny, welcoming, and professional. At first, the atmosphere felt a bit stiff and quiet, but as more guests arrived, it became much more lively and enjoyable. The food was absolutely delicious! While it is on the pricier side, it’s definitely worth it for the experience of fine dining in Rome. Highly recommended!

It is a vey nice classic style restaurant in a perfect location, Piazza del Popolo, where for ages people have regularly come to see and be seen. It is popular with the Roman high society, actors and artists, as well as lots of tourists. One would imagine that the appealing traditional menu offered here would guarantee a fantastic meal but sadly the food is mostly not up to what one would expect. In all sincerity it has never failed to disappoint me over the last 30 years! Even so one keeps coming back for the Dolce Vita atmosphere, it's true forte.....last night Al Pacino was eating dinner with his entourage in the corner table where stars usually eat.....

While this spot is located on the often over-priced tourist square area, it has become a must-stop for it's fantastic and consistent food. Excellent pastas, and a REALLY great spot if you can get an outside seat.

A Truly "Exceptional" Roman Experience – If You Enjoy Being Robbed with Style Ah, Dal Bolognese Roma – one of Rome’s most renowned dining establishments. Renowned, it seems, not just for its food, but for its bold creativity when it comes to pricing. We ordered their signature dish – the famous Bolognese pasta – and asked for a half portion. A simple, reasonable request… or so we thought. Imagine our surprise when we were charged twice the menu price for a full portion, per plate. That’s right – for a half portion, we paid four times what was written on the menu. Clearly, maths in this restaurant is more of an interpretative art form than a science. We’ve attached the bill for reference, along with photos of the food served, so you can admire the exclusive privilege of paying luxury prices for toddler-sized portions. It’s truly impressive how a place with such a reputation can stoop to such shameless tourist exploitation. Rome is full of amazing culinary experiences. Sadly, this wasn’t one of them – unless you're a fan of elegant daylight robbery. In that case, five stars.

I don’t typically write bad reviews, only good ones. But this one I have to share. Do NOT go here, I don’t know why they have 4 stars. It is terrible food , and even worse is the service . The staff were unkind and treated us terribly for absolutely no reason , I’m assuming they don’t like foreigners. Anyhow, don’t waste your time or money, it was outrageously over priced . I’m happy to pay a premium when the food and service are exceptional but this one was a zero on all levels. AVOID !!!!

I didn’t get a chance to take more pictures because I ate like there was no tomorrow. The appetizers, main dishes, Bolognese, and tiramisu were all scandalously delicious. The staff is also wonderful and polite, with excellent manners. You feel comfortable and fancy in this environment—and you leave 3-4 kg heavier. I absolutely recommend it.

Google
A well known authentic Italian Restaurant in Rome… home made pasta. Enjoyed all the dishes that were presented. Starting with fried Carli flower stuffed with mozzarella. A refreshing salad.. than Risotto with lobster And a combination of lasagna Green and bolognese pasta. Delicious food and excellent service. The negative issue was It took a while to get our dishes. Reservation is needed.

Yelp
While in Rome, my husband and I made a reservation for 19:30 at Dal Bolognese. Upon arrival, we were warmly greeted by the friendly staff. The restaurant was nearly empty, with only one other table occupied by a father and son. To our surprise, we were seated right next to them, despite the abundance of open tables. When we asked to be moved to a more private spot, we were informed that the restaurant was fully booked for the evening. Sure enough, within about 30 minutes, the tables were filled! The atmosphere was romantic, quaint, and quiet - perfect for a cozy dining experience. My husband ordered the sea bass filet and I ordered the bolognese tortellini, which was hands down one of my favorite meals in Rome! My husband loved the bolognese but found the sea bass too fishy and thought it didn't pair well with the vegetables on his plate. I happily disagreed and finished both his fish and the veggies. Overall, a fantastic dining experience with delicious food and a charming ambiance. Highly recommend making a reservation!

Yelp
Dal Bolognese is a vibrant, upscale restaurant located in Piazza del Popolo, a ten minute walk from the Roman Steps. Here you have refined dining in a relaxed atmosphere bustling with VIP's, locals and celebrities. They offer indoor and outdoor seating. The service is old school and excellent; their signature dish of Tagliatelli with Bolognese is delicious and a must; as is their fried zucchini and ravioli. You will not find better pasta in Rome. They have an excellent wine list. This restaurant is one of the very best in Rome. Highly recommended, reservations required.

Yelp
Very good food and very good service. The bolognese was the best I've ever had. Will come back.

Yelp
Dal Bolognese lived up to its reputation! We visited twice and no thank you four days! While the restaurant is located on the Piazza del Popolo that is heavily visited by tourists, the food was outstanding! The best bolognese I've had! We also shared the asparagus. The second visit we had the pumpkin ravioli and the spinach & ricotta tortellini. Both were excellent pastas! A must visit! See you next time we're in Rome! Very attentive service in both visits! We sat outside and watched the world go by! Great 'Roman dining experience!'

Yelp
Now here's the thing, you have to like a good bolegnese sauce...if you don't, then you may not like the food here...but if you do, then this place is heaven. We had a party of 5 and ordered a bunch of stuff and that was all fine, but the tagliatelli bolgnese was superb, just excellent. However, the lasagna verde with the bolegnese sauce was unlike any other lasagna I have ever had (and I've had lotsa lasagne)...creamy, rich, beautifully seasoned...it's the lasagna they serve in heaven. Anyway, I liked it, and if I find myself back in Rome I will be back for more lasagna!

Yelp
This was recommended by my Italian friend. Made reservation a week ahead. The place is a bit upscale and mostly local - so dressing nicely is recommended. We ordered the Parm ham, beef carpaccio, and buffalo cheese to start. Beef Bolognese, lobster spaghetti and veal chop for main. The ham was amazing but pretty much the same as the beef - so I wish the waiter would suggest something else when we asked for his recommendation. Beef Bolognese is amazing - definitely the best we had in the past. But my spaghetti was very undercooked, like hard inside. And veal chop was meh. So I'd say average food rating other than the Bolognese! We are coming back here again in two days to try their other dishes so hopefully the review will change!

Yelp
I am a Bolognese afficianado-it's my go to pasta dish; recipe inherited from Mother/Grandmother from the Bologna region. No cream is added! The restuarant served it as 3 meat sauce; which was excellent. They are a bit arrogant or nonchalant, and I am sure this is due to the traffic which is mostly "tourista" on the Piazza del Popolo. I think wait the staff gets a bit hardened dealing with customers who don't speak the language and question the definition of every item on the menu. That aside, the atmosphere in the evenings on the Piazza and a good glass of wine make this an excellent location for dinner al fresco.

Yelp
If you are looking for a true Italian meal experience I highly recommend Dal bolognese. One of the better restaurants visited while in Rome. The Tagliatelle alla Bolognese was good, however nothing really made it stand out in comparison to other ones I tried. The Milanese is a must have, tender and full of flavor. Served with pure (mashed potatoes). Tiramisu had a different twist from most restaurants as it was topped with nuts and did not contain espresso. Pretty pricey but overall worth the quality of food. Make sure you reserve.

Yelp
Arrogant. I called ten days ahead for reservation, was told brusquely to call again in five days. I called when they opened and was told they were booked. They aren't good enough to be that rude.

Yelp
Four stars for the food, but is a pity the service is so lousy. View of the Piazza del Popolo is great if you can get a seat outside, but then you have deal with all the smokers. I am always torn / the food is good but the waitstaff are not service oriented and there is s 12.5% service charge automatically added to the bill.

Yelp
I recommend going to Dal Bolognese if you can get a reservation outside, so definitely plan your visit with time. It's worth it! The terrace is well situated overlooking Piazza del Popolo and the people watching was great. The restaurant is elegant and has excellent service. The food was terrific as expected and prices were reasonable. It was so nice to eat in a place that the locals go. I chose the "Tagliolini" with Red Prawns and roasted Tomatoes which was incredible and we shared a beef tartare that blew me away. For dessert, go with the homemade tiramisu. This over a bottle of Pinot Grigio and a few shots of Limoncello was the end to a fabulous night in Rome.

Yelp
We love this restaurant, excellent location and tremendous people watching. My BF had shredded cod and sea bass which were good but didn't reach the five. I had lobster spaghetti which was one of the best, but the reason for the four stars rather than five star is that the first time we had the meals in this restaurant couple years ago was just so amazing that you never caught up that amazing experience. Must visit when you are in Rome.

Yelp
Don't waste your time! The service was horrible, and the food unimpressive. There are a lot of servers--all men--running around in white jackets, but we had to beg for them to do anything for us. Anywhere else we went, if I began to pour our own wine or water, someone descended upon us and took over--not here! After the first pour, we were left entirely alone. I think that they're too busy walking around trying to look fabulous and looking for fabulous people to wait on to care about anyone else. The food wasn't anything special either. The menu items have strange names, but they mostly turn out to be the usual Italian fare. I had a Milanese, which was pretty good, but I could have easily gotten better at any sidewalk cafe. My dining companions both got Shrimp Scampi with huge prawns but very little shrimp, and they had to work to get that out. The clientele was mostly American, but that may be because we ate before 9:00pm. I heard a lot of people complaining about how unimpressed they were with this "fabulous" restaurant for "fabulous" people. There's another sidewalk restaurant right next to it, closer to the Piazza, that looked less fabulous. I'd try it before going here again.

Yelp
This restaurant has a reputation for hosting many celebrities, which is, I think, entirely due to its amazing location. Besides that point, I have to say we were positively surprised by this restaurant. The prices are not as high as one claims, despite being higher than most roman restaurants. There seems to be an attraction in front of the restaurant, with an apparently well-off man, dressed extravagantly, who pretends to be making million-dollar deals on the phone, while the waiters do their best to keep him outside the premices :o) Now, more seriously: the food was very good, with the salt crust fish, or the Milanese a must. The wine list is also absolutely exquisite. However, the caprese let us down a bit, being not as tender as one may expect... The very friendly and comical service made that night one to be remembered, and one more reason to come back here :o)

Yelp
Had a great last night in Rome with dinner at Dal Bolognese. Often rated among the best restaurants in Rome, it was recommended by a friend and definitely lived up to its reputation. The ambiance is upscale and romantic with all the servers being extremely formal and professional. I had the tortellini which was FANTASTIC. Definitely the best tortellini I've ever had in my life. The menu is pricey- the most expensive meal we had in Italy but it was worth all of it because of the ambiance and the amazing food. Will definitely be visiting again on my next Roman visit.

Miray A.

Yelp
It was the best Italian experience for us. The restaurant is very well located. Request a table outside if the weather is good and don't forget to reserve a table in advance. While booking, we asked for an outside table. But at arrival, they wanted to sit us inside. After insisting, they gave us a table outside and this made us very happy. The food and wine was very delicious. Strongly recommended!

Yelp
In the land of amazing pasta we figured we had to check out a place named after our favorite dish. Place is slightly elegant but nothing over the top. Dishes are not much more expensive than other restaurants (maybe 5 euros max). We started off with a plate of prosciutto. Solidly good but not out of this world. We had the fettuccini bolognese and the lasagna bolognese. The lasagna was better. The dishes were tasty but again not life altering or particularly memorable. We also had the lamb which was savory and packed with flavor. We ended the meal with millefeuille which lacked in flavor. If this place was in New York it would be delicious but in Rome it's pretty standard. Wouldn't go out of my way to come back.

Yelp
I only had the Bolognese and it was legendary, but the place is like twice as expensive as other restaurants in the area

Yelp
Classically Italian and not touristy. Upscale. Very tasty. A bit on the pretentious style but a great spot and one of our favorites in Rome.

Yelp
This restaurant is AMAZING! i got the bolognese And that was no doubt it was the best restraint I've Ever been to! I also tried the caprese salad... Ripest tomatoes ever ...freshest burrada. Lasagna AMAZING CHEESE=AMAZING!

Julie S.

Yelp
Really disappointed. To expensive for the food you get. When you order a glass off wine, they let you choose between 2 wines and a they says nothing. When you get the check you have to pay 20 euros for one glass.

Yelp
Great food, great location on Piazza del Popolo. Eating on the terrace is amazing and the artwork inside is special. First time to Rome and I would visit Bolognese again. Had the prosciutto that melted in your mouth. Fabuloso wine selection to compliment the authentic food.

Yelp
Our family of 4 was very excited to dine at the restaurant that was highly recommend by our friend, restaurant owner of Rosinella at Lincoln Rd., one of the most authentic family owned Italian restaurants in Miami Beach where we live. We walked from Exedra hotel where we were staying and got to the restaurant at abot 8:30pm where we were told that the first avaiable table would be at 10:30pm even though more then half of the tables were avaiable. I asked to see inside when young guy in a suit followed me in and said: "Why don't you go next door? It's probably better for you." I asked for a manager when he told me that he was the owner and that I was not welcomed at his house. I explained how wholeheartedly his place was recomended to us by a friend from Miami Beach and his comment in front of our 7 & 11 old kids was: "This is a city, not a beach and you are not welcome here." After the most wonderful day we had in Rome, this certainly affected us. It is hard to believe that the owner of such an established place with such great reputation would act so immature & lack any respect whatsover for the potential customer. If anyone had exprienced anything similar, please let me know. Huge, huge disappointment.

Robert S.

Yelp
Food was very good... It's definitely a place to eat, to be seen and enjoy an old school ambience. Staff was amazing. So kind to our son, we had a great time..

Yelp
This is one of my favourite restaurants in Rome! Very classy in a casual way....outside if you want but we have always been inside and the dogs have always been welcome. Delicious food and wine and non-intrusive waiters!
