Dalai-la Boutique Hotel

I have stayed at Dalai-la numerous times and love it!! The location in Thamel with solitude and 24/7 security and an amazing staff make it the ONLY place I will stay in Kathmandu. Included breakfast, airport transfers, and smiles everywhere make staying here easy. Staff members like Puru and Dharmendra are the best to put up with hauling all the stuff I inevitably bring. Chef Prem and his staff create divine food for all palettes. This hotel is as good as it gets in Kathmandu.

I recently enjoyed a memorable dinner at the Dalai-laBoutiqueHotel, and I must say the culinary experience was exceptional. While the ambiance and service were lovely, the true highlights of the evening were three standout dishes that I highly recommend to any future guest. The Veg Momo were hands-down the best I have ever tasted—perfectly steamed, incredibly tender, and packed with aromatic spices and fresh vegetables. They were truly bursting with flavor. Next, the crispy, savory Potato Skins were phenomenal; they offered a fantastic texture and a rich, satisfying topping that made them utterly irresistible. Finally, the Mushroom Soup deserves a special commendation. It was a masterpiece of richness and creaminess, featuring a deep, earthy flavor that provided the perfect comforting warmth. These three items alone make this restaurant a destination worth visiting. A definite five-star experience!

Friendly, welcoming and helpful staff is what really stands out. Surprisingly quiet in such a busy and prime location. The courtyard is quaint and quite surrene and a real great place to relax with a drink or enjoy your morning breakfast which provided lots of choice and was delicious. The rooms were okay, a bit small but then again do you really need a big room when the courtyard is but a few steps away for relaxing. I would definitely return to this hotel for all the above reasons.

Had a wonderful stay at Dalai-La Hotel in Thamel, Kathmandu! The atmosphere was warm and welcoming, with clean, comfortable rooms and a beautiful courtyard to relax in. The staff were incredibly friendly and attentive. A special mention to Kishor, the bartender, for his excellent service and amazing cocktails — he truly made our evenings memorable. Highly recommend this place!

I wanted to take a few minutes and mention about my excellent stay at Dalai La in the first week of November. Right from the central location, to the peaceful ambience that one experiences as soon as as they step in, was everything I was looking for. Attentive staff, spacious rooms, great breakfast and a home away from home is how I would describe my stay here.
