D'Alcantara

The hotel is really nice, good location and nice front yard. Breakfast was good but nothing out of this world.|The room was good enough though the wifi was a bit week on the top floor. ||All in all I would have given it a 4/5 if it wasn’t for the reason that the hotel hadn’t reserved the bicycles i expressed and interest in reserving. |They also only had two bikes which wasn’t mentioned on their website. Also one of the was broken.|We had planned our trip according to being able to bike. Disappointing to say the least. Tournai isn’t the most touristy location so there where no other rental spaces open (vacation times) and the only one we found was also out of bikes. If we knew that the hotel only had two bikes we could plan in advance.||What was most disappointing is the hotel’s lack of action in this situation. They offered us that the boss would drive us to an activity we had booked… which was not something we felt comfortable with and had planned. They asked us to run around the city looking for alternatives. No offer of compensation or a gesture either.||Being able to turn a negative into at least a neutral or something positive for a guest is so important in hospitality. Sadly the staff didn’t have that ability which knocks my review down to a 3. I gave this feedback in person as well.

I stayed at Hôtel d’Alcantara and really enjoyed the breakfast especially the freshly squeezed orange juice, which was a lovely touch. However, my room’s window faced an internal ventilation area rather than the outside, which was a bit disappointing. Still, the overall comfort and quality of the breakfast made up for it.

We were very pleased to have found this hip little hotel, which is very centrally located in Tournai, for a midweek overnight stay. We received a great welcome from the reception team, and were introduced to our own personal 'Disco'. (The name of our room.) The hotel was just a short walk away from the main square, which offered lots of bars and eating opportunities. There was no problem gaining access to the hotel later on in the evening, as some other reviewers have commented. We spent a comfortable night, though being on the ground floor meant that we did get a bit of noise from the street, though not enough to disturb us significantly. Breakfast was very good, with excellent pastries. A big plus for us was being able to park the motorbike in the hotel's small courtyard, which was secured overnight, by arrangement.

Good hotel and nice stay. Front desk SARAH was great positive vibe of hotel. You ask her anything you get your answer regarding hotel facilities and near by attraction, restaurants etc. Even though coffee at cafe is free at all the time, I would prefer to get it made at my room the time I want it. Electric kettle with coffee or tea would have been a better experience for guests. Breakfast spread served is minimum but its ok. The shopping Centre is 5 minutes away from hotel and everything closes at 6pm except eat outs. Nice hotel to stay in future too.

Super boutique hotel. Comfortable modern rooms in a classic building. Outside private parking and close to the centre of Tournai. Good shower and generous breakfast. Very friendly staff. Comfortable beds. Only catch was the previous guest had left the TV in Polish - a 15 minute challenge !

Great Hotel, exceptional Service and a lovely interior!

Staying at D'Alcantara is like staying at the home you wish you had. D'Alcantara is a boutique hotel, nested in a number of adjacent refurbished buildings in the middle of Tournai. A myriad of stairs connecting the rooms to the lobby and guest area, make D'Alcantara a little maze. The rooms and bathrooms are spacious, clean and modern, all with their very own identity and styling. While the hotel does not offer diner opportunities, the bar and superior breakfast make up for it. Besides, being located just a few minutes away from Tournai's grand place, access to various dining locations is guaranteed. The hotel is operated by a small team of genuinely friendly staff. The more you stay at D'Alcantara the more you'll feel at home!

Sorry to say, this was the worst of the 5 hotels we stayed in during our recent visit to Belgium. From the reviews I checked before booking I expected better. I booked two rooms and to be fair, one of the rooms was far better than the other. Our room was on the ground floor directly on the busy street outside. Luckily it wasn't too bad from a noise perspective but for what I paid, I expected a better quality of room. The breakfast is not complimentary as per the TA website. Car parking is limited and you have to pay so we opted for the underground parking just up the street for Euro 10 for 24 hrs. which was reasonable.
