One of my absolute favourite spots in the city — Daldongnae Korean BBQ is something special. The food is always fresh, high-quality, and you can really tell they care about what they serve. Everything tastes homemade, but with a restaurant-level flair that keeps you coming back. The staff are super friendly and attentive, which makes the whole experience even better. I love the concept too — grilling right at the table is not only fun, but it makes the meal feel more personal and interactive. The only minor downside is that the smell of the BBQ can get a bit intense since the tables are close together — but honestly, it’s part of the charm, and it doesn’t take away from how great this place is. Just throw your jacket in a bag and enjoy! Highly recommend it — whether it’s your first time trying Korean BBQ or you’re already a fan, this place is a must.

Google
The boneless beef rib and the beef hanger were so tender. Especially the beef hanger is juicy, tender and beefy. The pork belly was Very tasty and not heavy at all. Beef tartar was very fresh and not too sweet. The service was excellent as our server explained the difference beef hanger and ribs patiently even though they started to get busy. Although we sat indoor, the air conditioning was not too strong coz we were sitting on the patio side. Great service and good quality of food. Highly recommended.

we loved our dinner experience here so much we invited our korean uncle, who was in town for christmas, to go with us again the very next day. staff did a great job of taking care of our rather large party.

This place is a restaurant that beautifully captures the traditional atmosphere of Korea. The ambiance is not too noisy, making it perfect for enjoying dinner and conversation. Every dish was delicious, with the quality of the meat being particularly outstanding. I would love to visit again if I have the chance.

Google
My friends and I have been to several Daldongnae locations and this is our favourite one! Delicious food, fun atmosphere, perfect for group outings. It can get quite loud during busy hours The refillable sweet corn and egg is always a hit when eating with a bigger group. Highly recommend the Melona Soju drink, I get it every time I go to Daldongnae

We went there for my birthday. The food was delicious, and everything was fresh. I highly recommend this place.

Google
Amazing! Cozy environment too. The full complementary set they bring as part of the order is great. And they fill up the sides with eggs and corn and refill them as many times as you want. Our server was amazing. If you want AYCE Korean BBQ, this is not for you as it adds up quickly once you order a few different types of meat, but at least you pay for what you get. And the meat options are delicious. But if you want to go nuts on unlimited meat, then this place is not for you.

Google
We have nothing but good experience here. Food was amazing, ambiance feels authentic, place was clean, service was great.. there’s even an exhaust on top of each table. Free refills on the side dishes.. We’ll definitely come back or try their different locations and order different ones on the menu. Worth recommending!

Yelp
Whenever I'm back in Toronto to visit, I always come to visit daldongnae! Serving sizing is fair and delicious, place is intimate but always a fun time with friends and family! Service is quick but they are busy often! I you daldongnae, miss u already :(

Yelp
We went for weekend dinner, with prior reservations. The restaurant was quite full, though we got our table immediately. The ambiance, cleanliness, vibes are moderate. Seating is not very cramped (neither very spacious). We had table bbq with beef hanging tender and beef chuck steak. Quality of meat was average. Limited parkings available at the back of the restaurant (entrance from Patricia Ave)

Kimberly W.

Yelp
Visited with some friends on a weekday for dinner. There were plenty of tables available and the lighting was slightly dimmed so it was very cute and cozy. The food was good and the service was fast too. Staff was friendly and very helpful. You can get unlimited soup and sides. The portions are also pretty big so one meat per person will definitely be enough for everybody.

Yelp
My experiences with Daldongnae has always been amazing! I definitely recommend this restaurant

Yelp
Great staff-- service is great! Very attentive. Food was good and good quality. Very intimate lighting but I wish there's a both little light to see properly.

Michelle K.

Yelp
Their best location out of all of them in my opinion! I'm a regular Staff is always nice. and the food is good!!

Tomasz P.

Yelp
The food itself here is delicious. Traditional Korean table cooking BBQ with fresh meats and a variety of side dishes make up a pretty amazing culinary experience here. There's quite a bit to choose from but I'd personally recommend the boneless beef rib and kimchi pancake. The staff here are incredible. Friendly, fast and attentive but not intrusive. They usually have no problems accommodating special requests if they're able. I hate tipping culture in general, but at this place I never felt pressured to tip, and I always felt like I wanted to because the service was always great. Location wise there are two that I've been to. The one at Yonge and Steeles (that's the good one) and the one further south of that also on Yonge street which I would avoid like the plague. The other location is dark, uncomfortable and the staff were awful when I was there. If you go to the Yonge and Steeles location you'll be glad you did. Enter the restaurant from the back, near the parking lot. I'm not sure why they don't have a front facing entrance, but if you can't find it, that's where it is.

Yelp
Yummy! Its one of the top tier places to go to. The meats is top grade. Theres always a line try and reserve. The place is always busy at all times of the day. I can say from food quality and service from staff has always been excellent. They change your grill very regularly which helps you cook delish food everytime. The complimentary soups and desert was good. Too bad its a 1x per a table would def go ham on that. Its all good anyways. Would def return A++++

Shiyue T.

Yelp
One of my new favourite Korean BBQ places! Love that there are complementary side dishes on the grill - there's egg, kimchi, cheesy corn, and garlic. You can refill them too. The cheesy corn was my favourite, look at that cheese pull! On top of that there's various complementary small side dishes, soup, and a refillable basket of lettuce to wrap the meat. For the meat, we ordered Pork Jowl Meat, Pork Belly w/ Skin, Beef Short Plate. All of the meat tasted amazing! I like that the meat was not pre-marinated, but instead they give you sauces to dip it in after it's cooked. They've got COVID-19 safety protocols in place including temperature checks when you enter the restaurant, hand sanitizer, and social distancing. You can also enjoy this Korean BBQ out on their beautiful patio, except there just might be some bees flying around...

Cin C.

Yelp
There was a request for Korean BBQ so we checked out this location. The outside is deceiving as it looks like a quiet house, but the moment you walk in, the space is bustling with patrons. They decorated the space with a bunch of antiques and it makes you feel like you are sitting outside eating. For those who actually want to sit outside, there is a patio space in the back. You are required to order a grill dish for each person at the table and each grill dish is around $25. That is before ordering rice or noodles so the bill quickly adds up. I enjoyed the refillable sides, including the steamed egg/kimchi/corn/garlic which cooks at the rim of the grill. Would definitely recommend getting some rice to make lettuce wraps with!

Janice Y.

Yelp
It was seamless to grab a seat midweek evening when I was there. Overall, a thumbs up. As a group of three, we ordered three portions of meat and the Kimchi fried rice, which was the ideal quantity of food for us. Quality delicious BBQ and it reflects in the price. I would've liked more sides to finish my meal, but if you've completed your meat, they stop refilling your banchan/sides. So make sure you preorder your side refills before you finish cooking your meat. Pros: Quality meats, light sauces that compliment the meats well without overpowering, and the sides like cheesy corn, steamed egg and of lettuce to wrap the meat. Love pork belly and you can have it cut thick or thin. The Kimchi fried rice is amazing! Better than what I can make at home. Cons: They only have red meat - ie. different cuts of pork and beef, no chicken and no seafood. However, for vegetarians, they do have a veggie grilling portion. They don't have complimentary Korean green onion salad, which I had in my fav KBBQ restaurant. I love to eat it with grilled meats. Though that one is closed since the pandemic... and not sure if it's something other KBBQ restaurants offer nowadays.

Yelp
There's a reason Daldongnae's are popping up all over the city! This one is also located on Yonge in a busy stretch. It does amazingly have a small parking lot in the back. The decor is reminiscent of the other locations. It's dark on the inside with a lot of wood paneling like an old school bar. We went a later in the afternoon around 2pm and we were able to get seated immediately. They have booths that can accommodate a good number of people - we had a party of 8. Daldongnae is not all you can eat with the trade off being that their meats are high quality. You also have some great bonuses like the garlic and steamed egg that come with the grill. The banchans are refillable but there are limits on these.

Chung-Mi J.

Yelp
We went back to this location for my birthday. We also tried different mains. Their seafood pancake was so delicious - crispy on the outside and soft in the middle, and it remained crispy throughout the whole meal! And of course, you did some fried rice to go with the bbq. The service remained the same, we consistently received banchan refill when we needed it, and the drinks were good, too. I'm so glad the ambiance, quality of the food, and the service remained consistent since my last visit in May.

Michelle H.

Yelp
Tasty, authentic KBBQ for Toronto standards! I find the meat portions to be on the smaller side, but the side dishes are plentiful. The service is usually quite quick and friendly too. Even better than the KBBQ are the kimchi cold noodles! Absolutely the most delightful item on the entire menu. I would return just to order these cold noodles again.

Ying L.

Yelp
Ordered pork belly, beef short ribs and beef short plate, not like last time in Scarborough Daldongnae, this time I liked the short plate the most! Seafood pancake was crispy but can't spot too much seafood , a lot of green onions The service was good and fast , and their backyard patio is open, nice vibes , great for meat lovers like me :)

Gabriel S.

Yelp
Got pork belly with skin & pork shoulder butt at this Korean BBQ place. The meats were decent. The decor is cute, like you're sitting at a Korean night market. Pork Kimchi stew was decent. It was sour & spicy (I don't like kimchi). It was also pretty sweet: more sweet than other kimchi stews. It was generous with ingredients. There were 5 banchan plus corn & kimchi in the hot plate. So effectively there were 7. There was egg & garlic too; the egg after a while became like steamed egg Complimentary soy bean soup was good: mainly salty notes with some spicy ones. It was like spicy miso. The rice served here was not white but red rice.

Deanne M.

Yelp
Daldongnae's another one of my favourite places to go for kbbq! It was my first time going to this location. We ordered a few meats. It comes with a lot of sides, tofu stew, and some sauces for dipping. I really liked how our server explained what each side dish was. All the sides are refillable. We also ordered the Korean egg rolls. It was good but I probably wouldn't order it again as one of the sides is already steamed egg. My go to is usually the seafood pancake. There's also parking located behind the building which you can enter through the side street. The parking lot isn't the most obvious but the entrance is connected to the Katsuya parking lot!

Yelp
Very small space. Tiny. Really tiny and crowded. Busy time long line up. Good is so so. Very small space. Tiny. Really tiny and crowded. Busy time long line up. Good is so so.

Yelp
There are 4 Daldongnaes in North York, I visited the location closest to Yonge/Cummer. Parking is a challenge, there are only about 4-5 spots beside the restaurant (and some of them are reserved for other stores in the same area but some people park anyways). However, there are plenty of other options in the area (some paid and some free) so make sure you plan where you want to park before arriving. I love that Daldongnae has a waitlist on Yelp so it's very easy for me to add myself to waitlist before I arrive. I've also called in before to make a reservation and was no hassle whatsoever. I would never recommend anyone visit a Daldongnae without adding their name to the waitlist ahead of time or making a reservation on a weekend or else you will be disappointed. The atmosphere in the restaurant is great, I particularly love the music they play (it's usually Kpop) and the servers are very attentive and kind. There are lots of meat to choose from and the prices have certainly gone up over the past few years but I always end up leaving the restaurant satisfied so I will continue to visit! Whenever I go, I always get at least one order of pork belly and beef rib finger meat as they have good proportions for a larger group. Our group usually gets the seafood pancake as well and the meat always goes well with the rice (korean-style). With unlimited orders of side dishes, I'd say we reorder the corn cheese at least ten times per visit! :)

Rachel L.

Yelp
Always a great experience here! I love the unlimited side dishes. We ordered a hot soup noodle and kimchi pancake as well. Both were really good! I was with a friend who couldn't eat pork, they were able to give us some sesame oil to coat the pan instead. The patio is heated and warm with the grill going. The service was good as well!

Sophie T.

Yelp
A gem of a place! Really cool heated patio, wonderful service, and great food! They have four locations along yonge street all between Sheppard and Steeles! I would highly recommend the beef short ribs, and pass on the finger meat. We were recommended the finger meat, but I find that cut of meat really tough, hence not a fan. All the sides were great, and I believe unlimited refills lthough we didn't really ask for any.

Oskaar W.

Yelp
Affordable Korean BBQ, prompt services & decent selection of beers & Soju...will return

Danielle S.

Yelp
My friend recommended this as his favorite spot in the Toronto area for Korean bbq and I can see why! We ordered samgyeopsal and another cut of pork (I can't remember which) and the spicy cold noodle (Jaengbanmomil guksu). The samgyeopsal was so good and crisped up nicely, and the other cut was nice and juicy. I also really liked the banchan here. They brought out oi kimchi (my fave), seaweed, mung beans, and konjac for a nice spread. The onions and buchu were also delicious with a nice sauce. We got a small portion of the noodles and it was more than enough for two people. The server suggested it over the large, as that's more for 3-4 people. The quality of meat here was really good and I enjoyed everything!

Anthony F.

Yelp
Went here recently for a dinner and it was great. The service was great and the quality of meats was exceptional. We had pork belly, beer finger meat, rib eye and tenderloin. Then we went crazy and ordered another round. Also ordered the rice and got some soup provided on the house. Everything was great. The only minor thing I would ding them for would be the small dishes because of the variety. I guess I have been spoiled by Korean places that might have 6-8 types vs 4 here. Again, nitpicking. Overall this is a must try. Great food and service.

Nix P.

Yelp
Had the best late dinner at this location after we have spent most of the day getting our tattoo done in the area. The meat quality was good and the side dishes were fresh. Mind you it was late and was close to closing time so we understood the delayed service. Regardless, quality of food was still good.

Alfred D.

Yelp
This is my go to spot for KBBQ when dining with groups. I'm willing to drive all the way from the west end so that should say something! There's plenty of side dishes to choose from and you can ask for as much as you want. My favourite side dish has to be the corn. Very sweet and topped with some cheese. It makes a very nice addition to a lettuce wrap. For the meat, the go to is always the pork belly. It's not too fatty and one of the cheaper meat options. The other go to meat we get is the tenderloins. This is my favourite cut of meat. It cooks very nicely and very good quality meat. If there's a special occasion we will get the chuck steak to celebrate. This is the best cut of meat here in my opinion, incredibly tender and juicy. Be careful not to ruin it! Other than that it gets a bit pricy when you order drinks like soju but it's worth the price. Washrooms aren't the best so I hope you don't have to take a #2.

Tania E.

Yelp
Nice Korean BBQ there !!! There are lots choice for BBQ like Pork belly , skirt meat Also we have ordered the seafood pancake, pretty nice Side dishes are amazing there are cheese and corn, egg and the kimchi !!!! But the time for taking side dish takes a bit long, and the staff even forget sometime.

Jasmine L.

Yelp
Great unlimited side dishes!! My favourite was the seaweed, bean sprouts, and mung bean jelly. There was also complimentary cheese corn refills, lettuce, & soup. For the KBBQ meats, we got the Pork belly (which was surprisingly not that fatty) and Beef tenderloin. Loved the layout of their grill (since it also heated some of the complimentary sides). I also enjoyed dipping the cooked meats in the sesame oil & salt dip.

Lim T.

Yelp
Oh my gosh the food was incredible! We've been to many Korean BBQ in Toronto/Markham and this place was by far one of the best! The last time I remember having really good Korean bbq meats was when I was in Korea and this place definitely comes close to that experience. Our server was super helpful as it was our first visit, he helped us pick the meats for barbecuing and we went with the two most popular choices which were the pork belly and beef tenderloin. You need to be patient when cooking the pork belly as the meat is very thick. Both the pork and the beef were delicious and absolutely mouthwatering! There was also lots of complimentary dishes which went really well with the bbq meats. I would recommend ordering one meat dish per person. For the three of us, we ordered 3 meats for barbecuing and two side dishes and we were really full and had leftovers to bring home. The side dishes that we got were the stir fried kimchi pork tofu and seafood pancake. Both were good but we really liked the kimchi pork tofu dish which we'll likely order again on our next visit. Overall, we really loved this place and we'll be back very soon!

Vanessa W.

Yelp
So delicious! I am so happy they have a patio. Parking space is limited so definitely go early if you can. We ordered pork belly, pork shoulder, beef short ribs. I had to get my Korean bbq fix after being in lockdown for so long. They gave a generous amount of sides and OMG the cheese corn was so tasty! They had something called Acorn Jelly as a side which I never heard of before. It kind of tasted like Agar Agar but salty. We ate a lot of the meat with lettuce and kimchi. They refilled our sides and lettuce halfway through. It even came with a tofu soup. Everything was flavourful and it definitely satisfied my cravings. 10/10 would go again.

Maoreen Rose M.

Yelp
What an amazing spot! The ambiance is great and I like that you get your little nook/booth to enjoy the meal. It is an experience to eat here! The meat is good quality and it is priced fairly. Also, the sides are unlimited and the creamy corn is definitely my favourite. They also gave us complementary unlimited tofu soup, which we enjoyed. The service is awesome, too! The staff are informative, esp when we told them it's our first time. They were friendly and prompt. The environment is not too noisy when we came in, but since it's a cozy place, I can see how it can be noisy when busy. They also have a nice patio and an alley style back door dining. What an experience!

Irene H.

Yelp
Superb service, and unlimited refills of my favorite cheese corn & egg definitely made my first visit at Daldongnae an unforgettable one We came on Saturday during dinner time, and as expected, it was busy. The server took our names and we were told that it would be at least a 30 minute wait. We came back in about 10-15 mins to sit inside as it was cold and the party at the waiting area was gone. We immediately got a table even though it wasn't our turn yet. I think we might have gotten lucky because the previous parties didn't arrive yet, and we were just there. Inside the restaurant was fairly busy as all tables were full. Besides the different cuts of meat offered, Daldongnae also has a variety of Korean dishes to choose from. I also did appreciate how the menu shows you the location of what cuts you're getting with their diagrams. It was alittle hard in the beginning to get someone to take our order as it was busy, but after ordering, the food came fairly quickly. You get a variety of the classic Korean side dishes as well as a small bowl of tofu stew when you order the meat. Overall quality and portion sizes were great, and our server was consistently polite when we kept ordering refills on the egg & cheese corn despite the busyness of the restaurant Will definitely come back when I'm not looking for AYCE and craving for Kbbq!

Laura T.

Yelp
Great quality meats and unlimited refills on some of the sides! I like the variety of sides you get, they also have many locations now.

Qianqi Z.

Yelp
Food is good. The BBQ pan is kinda dangerous in a way, but no server was trying to remind us. One of our friends got severe burns from the corn popping out from the pan because of the heat. They didn't have a cool bag. They didn't show the care. We have to finish our meal earlier to do first aid at home.

Teresa L.

Yelp
Tasty food...clean & good service! love the restaurant! & will recommend to my friends

Justine S.

Yelp
I should've read the reviews ahead of time, I had no idea the sides were complementary! I would've eaten so much more corn if I knew! The egg, onion, and soup were also very good side dishes. I think since the sides are complementary it's a great value for what you're getting. We were 5 and ordered 3 different kinds of meat and everything was delicious. Everything was fresh and arrived promptly. Our temperatures were checked at the door and we sanitized our hands before being escorted to our table on the outside patio.

Charmaine L.

Yelp
I went this restaurant couple times and it seems not good as before. Meat quality not too good but not too bad, acceptable. Since it's not cheap I will expect a bit better. Side dishes not bad, they are friendly to add if you want more. The atmosphere not as before cheerful and welcoming. Good that they have different favourites of soju hopefully they will improve overall...it's sad this should be a great Korean BBQ place!

Tammy N.

Yelp
KBBQ is honestly one of the things I crave most during this time of social distancing. I love the food itself, and I love spending time catching up with friends while the meat grills. Waiting for the food to cook also forces you to eat slower and potentially more mindfully as well. Daldongnae is an a la carte KBBQ place with multiple locations in Toronto. It's best to go in bigger groups because you can order a variety of meats. They serve their KBBQ on a grill surrounded by a ring of side dishes (egg, garlic, cheese and corn, and kimchi). They also have us a variety of cold side dishes/vegetables and dips as well. Refills are free as well! The meat cuts were a lot thicker and substantial than AYCE places. I find that AYCE is good for quantity while a la carte has better quality meats. Lettuce wraps made with thick pieces are so satisfying I found their meat was more on the bland/unseasoned side, but that's what the dips are for! We got 4 different cuts of meat for around 7 people and I found it to be just full enough without being overly stuffed. I still had room for dessert. It came to around $25 per person which is pretty a good price for quality KBBQ! (NOTE: this picture was taken way before COVID-19. Please practice social distancing as much as you can. If you would like to support a restaurant, you can order delivery or buy a giftcard to use when things settle and re-open.)

Shanen G.

Yelp
I visited Daldongnae yesterday for the first time and it was so good!! I went at opening and it wasn't busy at all. I ordered pork belly ($18.99) & beef short rib ($28.99). The prices are a little pricey but they do offer unlimited refills of the side dishes. So, I think they are worth it!

Stephanie N.

Yelp
Authentic Korean BBQ at its best! They have three locations now (other one is a few blocks away near Steeles and the newest one is downtown). There is usually a bit of a wait in the crowded entrance so add your name to the Yelp waitlist or try to go at an earlier time if possible. The decor inside has a lot of vintage artifacts and posters accompanied with some dim lighting. Their menu is not very big and only lies on one page but it definitely has everything that you would need! I usually stick to ordering the pork belly and pork jowl meat. Their meats comes a la carte in 200g portions. I have tried the pork skirt (limited quantity daily) and did not like it as much because it came marinated. I found the sauce really covered the meat flavour itself. The beef meats are alright but the cut and flavour just can not compare to their pork meats. And at a slightly higher price point, I tend to stick back to the pork belly. The grill has four sections with two bigger slots for cheesy corn and egg and the smaller two for garlic and kimchi. There are usually numerous sides as well such as apple potato salad, acorn jelly, seaweed/kelp pieces, beansprouts, and such. As well, they provide a hot tofu soup and lettuce for wrapping the meats. Each person also gets a dish of onions and a sauce dish. Most of the side dishes and the cheese corn/egg on the grill are refillable upon request. Thank you for the refillable lettuce!! We often add the spicy cold noodle to share as well. Overall, the food portion is good and I always leave this place feeling stuffed. The servers are attentive and friendly even when the restaurant gets a bit busier. Don't think too much, come here and enjoy some Kbbq!

Vivian C.

Yelp
This k-bbq spot is to die for. I will be returning over and over because everything about this restaurant is amazing. You first enter to an interior that looks like a real restaurant from south korea, with a beautiful wooden interior and cute decor for the outdoor seating. It's a shame that for the $26 short ribs, the portions are so small. granted the quality of the meat and the unlimited corn, eggs, and sides make up for it. Calling the waiter is a little difficult but considering that's only a few running the entire restaurant that are speeding back and forth, it's understandable. This place is honestly wonderful and I would return again.

Tonya H.

Yelp
I've always gone to an all you can eat Korean BBQ. Today my sister had mentioned Daldongnae being on her food to try list. And let me tell you...for a place that doesn't serve AYCE it was well worth it. With the amount of food you see in the photo, that feed 5 of us. We may not have been stuff but we were satisfied. Meat portion were great, the side dishes were awesome and we couldn't get enough of the kimchi soup. This place I recommend if you want to just chill and relax. Eat and conversation atmosphere.

Georges C.

Yelp
Amazing environment for Korean BBQ. Best service ever for years. Traditional menu with professional staff. A must go in Toronto. Thanks again to the best team in town. Congratulations! Will come again.

Annie Y.

Yelp
One of my fav kbqq places! It is not ayce so the total can get pretty expensive but the quality of the food/ side dish options makes it worth imo! The staff was very accommodating for my group as well, we originally planned for a group of 10 but 4 more people joined and the staff tried their best to ensure we were all still able to sit next to each other :)

Kyle P.

Yelp
Love this place! Ambience and experience is so fun and unique. Flavours and quality is great and recommend 10 times out of 10. Service is responsive and quick. I've been here multiple times and will always return given the chance!

Deborah M.

Yelp
It's been a minute since I was last at a patio. It felt so weird to be able to sit down, order, wait for your food to arrive and eat it with friends/family. This has really taught me to appreciate the little things and soak in each moment. To celebrate the opening of outdoor dining, my friend and I visited this spot! Seafood Pancake: Price: $15.99 Rating: 9.5/10 It was packed with vegetables and tastes just like pancakes; comes with delicious sauce for dipping. The pancake was also crunchy and savoury; perfect dish to have after a meal full of meat Pork Belly: Price: $16.99 Rating: 9/10 The Pork Belly was tender and juicy. It comes raw and you fry it yourself (the beauty of kbbq) Beef Short Plate: Price: $19.99 Rating: 8.5/10 The beef was tender and juicy but I found the pork to be more flavorful and delicious. With a purchase of meat, you get a pan to fry it on with sides - corn with cheese, kimchi, garlic, egg and lettuce. Apart from these sides, we got more side dishes too and tofu soup () on the house. The customer service was amazing too as the service was efficient and staff were friendly. The food is more on the pricey side but it's a great place to go to treat yourself to KBBQ once in a while. This might just be one of my top favourite KBBQ restaurant. Follow @debeats_ on Instagram for more KBBQ restaurant recommendations.

Daldongnae was recommended by my foodie cousins as the best place for Korean BBQ in Toronto. We went with high expectations, maybe too high. First parking is very limited. We ended up parking next to the Katsu place where one sign said it was only for Katsu customers and another sign said it was also for Daldongnae. The first person who greeted me at Daldongnae said it was okay to park there but part of me still wondered if I would come out to find a ticket on my car. We had a reservation for six but the host said she didn't have our reservation. She suggested that maybe our reservation was for another Daldongnae location. Fortunately after a few minutes she found our reservation. Daldongnae is not a big restaurant and people are pretty squished in. We were put in a booth that I think is meant for four people. I was almost hanging off the edge. We ordered: 2 Beef boneless short rib (갈비살) 1 Beef hanging tender (토시살) 2 Beef rib eye roll (꽃등심) 1 Assorted mushroom side (모듬버섯) 1 Spicy soft tofu stew, Kimchi (김치 순두부찌개) We were rather disappointed to learn that they did not have marinated kalbi which is why we ordered the hanging tender. Everyone except the rib eye lover liked the hanging tender best. The service was subpar because the staff is just too busy. You have to try to catch their attention and even sometimes when they acknowledge you they still don't do what they say will. Only later near the end of the evening when things got less busy did staff actually come by to check in and offer refills of side dishes and water. We were not used to having to do all the grilling ourselves. In the Bay Area we don't have to do any. The meat itself was pretty good. I quite liked the Kimchi stew and appreciated the complimentary doenjang jjigae (된장찌개) and lettuce. The corn cheese and egg looked exactly the same as Beakjeong in NYC and LA which makes me wonder if they are related. The best part of the meal was the price. This meal would have cost 2 to 3 times as much in the Bay Area where kalbi costs $85 at the best Korean BBQ places. We are not sure if we will come back again but if we are dying for Korean BBQ at least we will know the price isn't bad.

Yelp
This is going to be a long review. Daldongnae was the place I was dying to try once patios opened up again and it was absolutely amazing. My friends and I ordered 4 kimchi cold noodles, and shared a platter of beef boneless short rib, beef hanging tender, and beef finger meat. The meat was fresh, high quality, expertly butchered and seasoned perfectly, which made it so deliciously tender and juicy. Kimchi cold noodles was sweet, refreshing and a perfect palate cleanser to counteract the rich flavors of the beef. The hot plate also comes with corn cheese, garlic, kimchi, and eggs which is a great addition to the already delicious meat. If you want the hot plate and meat, you have to order at least 2 (200g) portions of beef or pork or 1 of each. The meal also comes with a number of banchans to enhance the KBBQ experience. It comes with onions in a bulgogi like sauce, potato salad, spicy cucumber, acorn jelly, spicy beansprouts, sundubu-jigae (soft tofu stew) and lettuce to make a ssam (wrap). The acid helps cut the richness and carbs will fill the soul. It comes with 2 sauces, salt and pepper with sesame oil and ssamjang (Ssamjang - a thick, spicy paste used with food wrapped in a leaf in Korean cuisine. The sauce is made of doenjang, gochujang, sesame oil, onion, garlic, green onions, and optionally brown sugar). The hot plate additions, banchans and sauces are all refillable but you will most likely be full before that's even needed. If you can't find parking there is a plaza right in front of the restaurant. Staff was very nice and the restaurant has a cool wood themed ambiance. They also play a bunch of kpop songs that I love which is another bonus. This place is a bit pricy but kbbq is always pretty expensive. Daldongnae really provides value so I think it is worth the hefty price. I recommend coming here with friends and family because it's best to share a bunch of meats, banchan and just have a good time. Tip: Remember to make room for the server to put down all the banchans and meat. Space on your table will be a luxury. Overall, the food, service and ambiance makes daldongnae my favorite a-la carte KBBQ restaurant. I can't wait to come again and try everything on the menu.

Yelp
This is by far one of the best kbbq spots I've ever had (and I'm an LA native). Everything--from the decor to the food to the banchan--was perfect. I didn't have a single gripe about the place. At face value, this kind of looks like a hole in the wall. Situated off Yonge in a nondescript small building, Daldongnae was very impressive once you step in. The entire restaurant is much larger than its facade suggests, and for good reason. We came by on a Sunday at 4:30pm and managed to get a table for two with no wait time. We ordered the pork howl and the beef short rib, and were immediately impressed with the level of banchan available. They even had lettuce wraps! The corn cheese and egg grilled on the side of the pan, in addition to some garlic chips and kimchi. All of the banchan was great, and the servers were more than willing to refill as requested. The pork jowl was the perfect balance of fat, and the beef short rib was a nice tender cut. The amount of meat for the price was also average, but you definitely make up for it with the sides. Overall, one of the best places I've had, and it's a shame I can't take them with me back to DC.
