We rented canoes from them (never tried the accomodation part). He is a nice person and easy to reach, but he gave some bad information when we were trying to get advice about our itineary. He said we could easily reach Lunde in 5 days, and even Skien if we wanted to. In reality Lunde is more like 6-7 days if you are lucky with the wind and I can't even imagine how long would it take to reach Skien. For context we were two fit men. The canoes came with barrels which were useful. In the end we had to end our trip earlier than we booked because of the weather and because it was hard to keep the schedule we thought we can easily keep, but he didn't give us any refunds.

A lovely place ran by a very kind man. The breakfast choices are amazing and the beds were very comfortable. Glad we stopped here for a night! Thank you so much for the coffee, Olivier!

Spent a night on our way from Oslo to Kristiansand. Olivier gave us a warm welcome, knows everything there is to know about te region and enthusiastically talks about his Norwegian adventure. Rooms are clean and cosy. Breakfast had all we needed. Limited options for dining out - around the corner, Dalen Brygga (only in the weekend) and the main fancy hotel, but reserve welk up front and foresee the right dress code. We booked the Soria Maria sauna on the lake - amazing place, great to relax just a short walk from the B&B.

Just a short review of our single night stay at this nice B&B. It’s a little more than a B&B, our room was fine, clean and comfortable. Olivier the proprietor was the best! He is very well informed, speaks multiple languages, and gave us excellent, useful and true advice about places to eat, things to do or see on our intended travels the next day. Thank you very much!

I came here for a Canoe trip, and rented one here. I was met by great service from Olivier. I got tips about places to camp and Expert instructions on how to paddle both safe and effective. This is my second year renting a canoe from Dalen Bed and Breakfast. And I'll be back soon enough. Highly recommend!

If you do not want to pay three times more to sleep at Dalen Hotel from 1894, then clean and home cosey Dalen B&B is a superb alternative. The rooms are relatively small, but everything is clean and sober with interior in a typical Nordic style. The host is up before you to make a real Norwegian breakfast ready before you enter the relatively small dining hall. If you are lucky the host will share some stories about Dalen and region around.

Dalen is a small place so there wasn’t much choice when we planned our trip. However Dalen B&B was fine - clean and comfortable and with a very welcoming and thoughtful host. He was able to recommend where we could eat and the recommendation of eating at the harbour was great ( only weekend nights though). He also recommended walks and advised on the boats trips ( Dalen to Ulefoss and the bus back - it takes all day but really interesting and huge drops in sea level as you go through the locks). We also did a challenging walk up to Eidsborg which was steep rather than difficult but well worth it for the views and we caught the school bus back! All in all a good stay but we felt rather pricey.

Cozy clean room. Quaint host and very helpful in finding a connection to our relatives in the area! Nice Breakfast. He helped us get some hot water to make hot choc. and heat up some roomogrot as well. We recommend this place. No elevators... so stairs.
