Dalen Hotel

Exellent hotel, food and service. This must be the most beautiful hotel in Norway! Combined with the boat-tour on Telemarkskanalen, and walking-tour (30min) to the old Rui houses, this is a uniqe experience in two days (and we have seen a lot!).

Love our stay at Dalen Hotel, I think this might be my favorite hotel in Norway.||We felt like we were actors in a costume drama like Bridgerton or Downtown Abbey. The Historic hotel is just so we'll maintained, that you get the feeling it's been in operation constantly since it opened in 1894.||Dalen Hotel is three hours from Oslo, situated in a quiet Fjord, with amazing food and a stress free environment. There is a must visit Sauna a 5 min walk from the hotel, down by the fjord: Soria Moria Sauna ||The best thing with the hotel is the dedicated staff. They are quirky, interesting, dedicated and very knowledgeable. Loved them. They also serve amazing cocktails, one of the best ala carte breakfasts in Norway and impeccable dinners.||We will return soon and bring friends! ❤️

Wonderful stay. Very historical place. Great staff, always taking their time and trying to help. Nice, cozy and very clean rooms. Definitely will visit again.

What a fantastic hotel, the decoration throughout is just stunning. The staff were and absolute delight - everyone we came across couldn’t have been friendlier and most helpful. Breakfast is delicious and a glass of fizz such a nice touch. The location is also so central. Watch out we will be back. The standard room was immaculate, bed comfy, and really quiet. The hotel bar had good cocktails all professionally made, with large completely clear ice cubes which is always a sign that they know how to make cocktails that will not become too watery quickly which unfortunately most hotels do. This hotel was amazing! Check in was seamless and two ladies at reception gave us some great recommendations for food and drinks.

Not just a hotel, but a wonderful experience. Romantic, historic and the best service. Lovely place and full hearted recommend it.

It was a truly special, beautiful and wonderful hotel. It was a wonderful vacation with friends. We spent very enjoyable days. I advise everyone to try it and I will return to it in the future.

Where to start? I have wanted to go to this hotel for many years. It is surrounded by beautiful nature and has a magnificent architecture. In addition, there is said to be a lady ghost residing in one of the rooms. Eventually, I got to go with hubby and mother in law ( yup, you read right). The hotel lies down in a valley, thus the name " dalen". It used to be resided by German emperors and Indian princes that came by boat through canals and what not to get there. The water lies close by, and there is even a sauna that can be rented just by the hotel. The room itself was not extraordinary, but we didn't want to spend all our money either. There are rooms that cost the shirt and regular priced rooms. We instead enjoyed some tea in the living room by the fire place. Wow, it was such a beautiful room and the glass roof waa awesome. The prices are a bit over the top, and a beer cost like 150kr. Well, that's Norway I guess. Anyways, we ordered dinner ane enjoyed a three cours meal that was lovely but not amazing. Still, we loved the atmosphere and would dine there again. Breakfast was included and really nice. We went for a stroll in the morning and that's when we saw the sauna. I should have done more research as it could be rented. Next time! I am so glad we came, and I will surely come back again for atmosphere, nature and yup atmosphere! Ps we didn't see the any ghosts btw

Great place, excellent service, excellent food, lovely old hotel and a lovely garden. Champagne in the garden is recommended.
