Dalhousie University: Howe Hall

From the moment I stepped foot into Howe Hall dining hall, I was thoroughly impressed. The atmosphere, reminiscent of a high-quality restaurant rather than a typical university dining facility, immediately caught my attention. This unexpected charm sets Howe Hall apart from many others, including the one at Memorial University. The dining hall is an epicurean delight, offering a diverse array of food options that cater to various tastes and dietary needs. The food itself was nothing short of excellent. Every dish I sampled was packed with flavor, cooked to perfection, and wonderfully presented. From the fresh salads to the delectable desserts, Howe Hall's culinary excellence exceeded my expectations and provided a delicious break from my study routine. One of the major highlights of my experience was the variety of the food. The menu was a melting pot of international cuisines, which speaks volumes about their effort to cater to the university's diverse community. It was a pleasure to explore different tastes every day, and this added a unique dimension to the overall dining experience. This gastronomic diversity is something that sets Howe Hall far ahead of dining options like Memorial University's. Additionally, the staff at Howe Hall deserves immense praise. Their friendliness and dedication to providing excellent service added a layer of comfort to the overall experience. Each staff member I encountered was genuinely attentive, kind, and always willing to go the extra mile to ensure a satisfying dining experience. This outstanding level of service was truly refreshing and a notable improvement over my experiences at other university dining halls. In conclusion, Howe Hall dining hall not only provides a variety of good food but also ensures an enriching dining experience through its welcoming staff and comfortable ambiance. I believe this dining hall is setting a new benchmark for university dining facilities. It is a step ahead of many others, including the one at Memorial University, in both the quality and variety of food and service. This place is an absolute gem in the campus dining scene, and I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a quality meal and a warm, friendly environment.

I really enjoyed my stay at Howe Hall. The room was great (no surprises) and all all of the facilities were clean and well cared for. The front desk is staffed 24/7 and the counter staff were very friendly and helpful.

Not too bad but I got to see two mice s running during the night in the cafeteria

Good budget spot if you're okay walking everywhere in Halifax! We stayed for a week and it worked great for us. Didn't seem like too many people were staying on our floor so we basically had the bathroom to ourselves. The laundry room is relatively cheap ($1.50 for washer and dryer) so we were able to put through a couple loads of laundry. Staff was very helpful and was able to hold on to our luggage on our check out day until we were heading to the airport. Close to a few cafes that are perfect for breakfasts but they also have their own dining hall that you can buy food from. Everything was clean, there was a bit of mold maybe in the showers in the bathroom but otherwise decently clean. The room had basic items (towels, bar soap), two twin beds, blankets, pillows, 2 desks, 2 desk fans and some storage cabinets as well. A wish: more wall sockets! The only plugins were by the desk and it was somewhat annoying.

Food and residence was garbage. Your better off getting your own apartment and cooking your own food

Vending machines sell year old expired items, and that too at a high markup. Anything positive has been overshadowed by this for me. Anytime you decide to buy anything from the machines it's always a gamble on whether you get something you can consume or have to throw out because it's borderline unedible. Shame, I was going to write good things but the past few weeks of lost money has infuriated me.

This is my favourite dining hall on campus. The wooden floors and ornate chandeliers give the hall a character that is both warm and inviting. The staff are always pleasant and willing to go that extra mile for students.

Solid staff everywhere from meal hall, to janitorial, to front desk and even to resident advisors. But the food and quiet levels during the weekend leave a lot to be desired, unless you live away from the party floors
