Dallas Symphony Orchestra at Meyerson Symphony Center

Went to go see the Home Alone in concert there today. It was my first time seeing an orchestra. I love movie music, and of course my favorite Christmas movie is Home Alone. The beautiful music by John Williams, played by a full orchestra, was an experience to say the least. The space is beautiful, all decorated for Christmas. This being my first orchestra live experience, has opened the door to more shows like this in the future

We always love going to the symphony. Last night we saw the concert version of Madama Butterfly which was absolutely breathtaking. Bravi tutti!!! Dallas is not so bad.

This was our second time experiencing this concert in the past five years, and once again it exceeded all expectations. The performance was outstanding, the atmosphere was festive and elegant, and the entire evening felt special from start to finish. It created memories we’ll treasure for years to come. We wouldn’t hesitate to make this a tradition again.

my family loves the annual Christmas shows here. this year was a beautiful concert as always. one of my favorite aspects of these shows are the guest singers they bring in. this year’s guest performers were Jasmine Habersham and Reginald Smith Jr. Both of them are fabulous singers!! Jasmine has such a beautiful & dynamic soprano voice, & navigates different styles of music with elegance. Reggie’s voice is superb! he is resonant & expressive, & I’m always delighted to hear him sing

Amazing place. We have attended the classic Beethoven and it was just so beautiful. The chairs are clean and neat, ample parking space and the acoustics of the auditorium is so perfect. We got a chance to listen to Alexander Kerr playing the violin and it became a memorable experience.

The Meyerson is nothing short of extraordinary. From the moment you step inside, there’s a sense of reverence for sound, artistry, and architecture. The hall itself feels alive—every note blooms with clarity, warmth, and depth. As someone deeply attuned to the voice and the body’s relationship to sound, I was blown away by how effortlessly the acoustics support both power and subtlety.

Beautiful building and overall experience. My girl and I saw Elf with the DSO and it was great. Parking was also easy to only 20 bucks. The area around the Meyerson is very nice and it felt really safe. The DSO was awesome as usual and you get to experience some of Dallas high culture. Can't wait to return!!!

I had an amazing experience. It was my first time and I just loved it. It couldn't have gone more perfect I am looking forward to coming back again.

Not a bad seat in the house! I say that having sat on the third to last row in the top mezzanine. I could still see and hear everything! The building itself is beautiful. With a pale stone exterior and lobby, it's light, airy and sun-drenched. Then, when you enter the orchestra chamber, it gives way to dark woods and finishes and you're totally transported to a different vibe all together. This is probably one of the most Jekyll and Hyde buildings you'll experience- and that's a good thing! As for getting around, there are ushers outside the auditorium to help you find your seats and plenty of ways to access the upper balconies through stairs and elevators. The parking situation is easy. There was a paid underground parking lot just across the street. It did get very congested as everyone was leaving after the show, so plan accordingly. Overall a pleasant and fun experience- I'll definitely be back at some point to try other programming.

I have to go with five stars for the show I saw today and the beautiful building that made it possible. The Christmas Pops show featured music that spans 200 years. Featuring tunes from great composers of the past and including one from a 17 year old Dallas highschool student! The magnificent Lay Family Organ was featured which in and of itself is worth attendance. Santa even made an appearance as part of a game the conductor played using 12 days of Christmas. I'm never too excited about going to these shows until I'm sitting there thoroughly enjoying it. As this concert hall ages somehow it seems to get better and better. The acoustics are perfect,comfortable and it's easy to navigate. I recommend you choose from any function throughout the year and go if you've never. I ve seen a lot of special and unexpected shows here including,Van Morrison,Neil Young,Willie Nelson,and countless Symphonic presentations.

The Moody Blues tribute was outstanding. The music was quite enjoyable and the audience was very much into it!

I absolutely love this venue! Hubby & I bought discounted tickets from someone from our church group! Wow! The show was absolutely amazing! We were blown away by all the singers, the choir & the venue! Talk about a great time!!! At times, everyone was up on their feet clapping & having a joyful experience. Other times we were captivated by the poetry. We will definitely go to this event (pictured) again if they bring it back!!! The venue is absolutely beautiful!

Absolutely beautiful concert hall! I've been many times and have sat in pretty much all of the sections. I feel like there really isn't a bad seat in the house for sound quality / views. They have a parking garage attached, however it's pretty easy to find street parking at a fraction of the cost in very close walking distance. If you haven't had the chance to go to the Meyerson yet, I highly recommend going for either aDallas Symphony or Dallas Winds concert.

There is not a bad seat in this venue. We saw a Christmas symphony with our 3 kids and everyone enjoyed it. Complete with Christmas song along at the end. I've been to the Meyerson many times and it is always an enjoyable experience.

Excellent acoustics and the remarkable Dallas Symphony Orchestra make this a beautiful hall to visit!

Beautifully designed is the Meyerson by I.M.Pei. In the foyer, circular encompassing intimacy; natural lighting by day; and, gradual soft lighting by night. Amazing is the acoustic in this house. No matter which seat and whichever tier, I can clearly hear each chime and stroke to pieces of music played. Wonderful is our DSO, performing an array of classical to pop music under the baton of our new music director, Fabio Luisi, and, guest conductors. Most recently, I was fortunate enough to be invited to The Magic of México. Innovative was the "visual concertos" choreographed to inspiring classical music. The bright future of DSO has indeed landed! CHEERS!

Came in for a last min. Performance for date night. My girlfriend had a blast. Jason the usher helped us and was more than knowledgeable. Can't wait to come back

Beautiful venue, great acoustic, plenty of parking (mostly pay parking, but still), plus food and drink options. This place has it all! One of my favorite venues for a symphony. Located in downtown Dallas but it's easy to get in and out especially if you use their garage parking that links to MMSC. The whole place is beautiful with glasses all around. Huge but easy to navigate if you follow your ticket to find out which door to enter. They usually have buffet and/or dine in option, plus drinks before the symphony starts. Drinks are also available for purchase during intermission. Just make sure you have enough time to drink it all since no food or drinks are allowed inside. As far as seating goes, I'm pretty frugal so have only come here when I get free tickets or can score really good deals. With that being said, I highly recommend Zone B center or Zone C. The closer the seats to the stage in these zone, the better. Anything else, you'd be either too close to the stage to only see the first 2 rows of performers, or a bit too far to be able to appreciate them more. Or you can just go big and pick the most expensive = best seats in the house. If you've never been to a symphony orchestra before, couple things to note: 1- This is the perfect place for a fancy date. So dress up, enjoy, and have fun. 2- Early is on time. On time is late. If you don't want to miss out on a whole piece, make sure to get here at least 10-15mins early and in your seat. They won't seat people in between movements. However, they're pretty considerate here and have live video right outside in the waiting hall with seats for the tardies. (Been there, done this lol) 3- Clap only at the end of each piece, not movement. Make sure you get a program to follow along to know how many movements there are to the piece if you're not familiar with it, watch the conductor's hands. If they're down n stay down, you can clap. Or just wait until everyone else does it. 4- Symphony orchestras tend to attract very specific groups. If you're under 50s, you might find yourself the odd one out like me. There's nothing wrong with that. Classical music needs to be appreciated by everyone! The Dallas Symphony Orchestra (main resident of MMSC) doesn't just play classical music. They often have specials during the few big holidays or once or twice a month, different "remix" concerts that even folks who never been to a symphony orchestra would sure be amazed.

We came here for a free performance by the symphony. This place is very classy and has all the grand finishes. The staff was friendly and the acoustics are amazing. It is located in the heart of the Dallas Arts District and there are plenty of garage parking options. Street parking is much tougher to come by. It was packed of course for the free show, but we were able to squeeze into the top section in the back. It was a long walk up the numerous walkways as the elevators had long lines for them and should be reserved for those who physically cannot climb up. Even at that location, we were able to see and enjoy the experience immensely.

Five, well-earned stars for an exceptionally beautiful, classic, acoustically perfect, classy venue that is home to the Dallas Symphony Orchestra. I am a recent live symphony enthusiast, having seen only a few performances. My most recent was "Jurassic Park in Concert", held at the Meyerson. We arrived a few minutes late and were required to take seats towards the back of the floor (our tickets were towards the front). The sound in both places was spectacular, crisp, deep, and full. Jurassic Park is my favorite of John Williams' many wonderful scores. The massive theme "Journey To The Island" performed live actually produced tears in my eyes. Another highlight was the piano solo during "Remembering Petticoat Lane". The symphony reproduced the emotion and spirit of the music with breathtaking power. The movie was shown on a large screen, easy to see throughout the room. Subtitles were very helpful as the orchestra occasionally swelled loud enough that the voices were not audible. Dialogue wasn't the point of course, but it would have been silly to have to try to strain to keep up with the words, especially with a film that has so many memorable lines. My only minor complaints are our seats were so close to those in front of us we had to stand to let people pass by us. This isn't necessary. The other thing was that we were late, even though we arrived at the theater 30 minutes before the performance. The parking garage has three available lanes, but only one was open, feeding three incoming feeder streets. In that single lane was one very stressed out woman taking credit cards, answering questions, and handing tickets individually to each car. Wtf? So anyway, yeah we were 6 minutes late to the door. The snippy usher seemed to want to make this point to us in explaining why we had to be re-seated in our actual seats at intermission. I felt schooled. I guess we'll come 45 minutes early next time or park somewhere else. Despite the paragraph description, the quality of the performance and the venue overwhelmingly outweighed this part of the experience. Highly recommended and will definitely be back!

Wow! What can I say? Although I have attend many events and concert at the Meyerson, I never splurge for the nicest seats in the house before. I have no regrets! The Loge Box will give you the best acoustics. The sound is amazing. For NYE concert, the tickets were $210 each. The seats are much more comfortable, you actually get a seat that you can move around. You won't need to coat check if you are in the boxed seats because it is much more convenient to just put your coat on the back of your seat. I was very thankful for this since it was 18 degrees that night. Yes they do have a coat check at entrance, but think of the entire crowd lining up for coats at the end. I think this place is the most beautiful during the holidays.... beautiful Christmas tree and lights everywhere!

I am so impressed. This facility is stunning and the music was superb. By far the best symphony I've ever been to. I kept catching myself smiling during performances because the music made me so happy. Will definitely keep the schedule close by so I can attend future events. Kudos, kudos!

I haven't been here since I was 16 so it was so great to be back at Meyerson! I grew up a huge music nerd (band, orchestra, jazz band, flute ensemble, you name it; I've done it) so it was so nostalgic to be back! The place is pristine and neat, and the decor is minimal which is fine because you're going for the music. There are a couple of bars for beer and wine orders and the ushers are very helpful. I'm ready for my next return!

We are lucky to be near a venue as wonderful as the Meyerson Symphony Center (and have really enjoyed all the events we've attended) that I took for granted that I had already written a review. The most recent visit was when we saw Jason Alexander in February and all I can say is wow! The evening really exceeded any expectations we had by a long shot. The symphony played beautifully (as always) but what stood out to us was that the personality of the conductor, Lawrence Loh, got to really shine that evening. And we all know Jason Alexander is funny, but who knew he was a vocalist, and a good one at that?! Mr. Loh and the symphony teed up the star of the night by performing pieces of music tied to Jason Alexander's career for the first half of the evening. And Mr Loh. also did a nice job setting the stage before introducing Mr Alexander by sharing his experiences interacting with him on prior evenings. It was really nice to hear he was genuinely a nice, humble, down to earth guy. Granted the review is about the Meyerson (it's beautiful and seats are really comfortable) but if Jason Alexander visits Dallas again, get tickets. He is genuinely as funny in person as he is on screen, as well as a wonderful storyteller, carries a great tune, is a surprisingly good dancer and provides an enormously entertaining evening. Between songs, his reflections were mostly self-deprecating (hilarious) memories of his youth, how he gained an interest in theater and the time he spent on Broadway with songs from the shows he was in. Best part, audience participation. He brought a diverse group of about 10(?) people on stage that added an extra dash of haha. Last tidbit, underground parking is a bit tricky with construction of the new above ground multi-level parking deck. Take the first right to get underground. And by first right I mean there are two driveways (side by side) and both lead down to underground parking but the second right takes you down to office/staff(?) parking of some kind and it's a real PITA to get turned around to get out, then drive around the block to catch the first right again.

I don't go to the symphony enough and need to go more. Coming here is always a pleasant experience. I always get the prepaid parking when I order tickets for the convenience of not having to drive around trying to find a parking lot and with the parking being underground with a pathway straight into the theater there's no need to be concerned about the elements. A nice venue. I usually get seats in the orchestra area (some are available at minimal pricing) and get a good view of things.

Full disclosure: We have been here many times for many times for all types of musical events. Our children have performed with choirs and bands on this stage so there is a lot of sentimental attachment as well. The acoustics are amazing. There are really no dead spots as far as I know. I have bought seats in most all sections. Our favorites are orch floor, rows S or T, in the middle. It is the home of the DSO and they are wonderful. My favorite concert of the year are the Christmas concert put on by the GDYO and CCGD which is made up youth from the Dallas area in orchestra end choir. If your humbug, it will grow your heart at least 2 sizes. CCGD final spring performance is also a big personal favorite as it ends with 500 kids singing Yonder.

Morton Meyerson center is one of the premier live arts performance halls in the Dallas Arts District. Home of the Dallas Symphony Orchestra, this beautiful location is a fantastic venue for watching various shows. My Overall Rating - 5 Stars (Atmosphere, Service, Facility, Return) Atmosphere - The Meyerson is simply one of the most beautiful buildings in Dallas. It's a large, open building with plenty of windows for natural light. Here you'll find a number of picturesque views where natural beams of sunshine rain down on the marble floors and steps. It's also a popular location for wedding photos. It also sports underground parking garages that lead you right into the building (no need to cross streets. 1 Star. Service - The entire Meyerson staff is so friendly, from the ticket counter, the ticket takers, the ushers, and the bartenders, everyone is helpful and are there to ensure you have a good time. It takes a large staff to pull off each production, and when you don't notice them it means the focus is on the show on stage. 1 Star. Facility - The Meyerson sports an opera hall style layout. There is floor seating in addition to balcony. Every seat provides a great view of the stage, which is large enough to house the orchestra, the choir, and a large organ. But this place is all about acoustics. The high ceiling allows the sound to flow out to ensure you get the best experience. One minor complaint is the elevators and bathrooms can be difficult to get too. Overall this is a fantastic venue for the arts and an amazing gem for the city of Dallas. 2 Stars. Will I Return? - Yes, this is a fantastic venue, with enough shows that appeal to all ages. My now wife took her engagement photos here, we've been to several concerts, and it really is an amazing place. 1 Star. My Yelp Rating Scale (Sum of all parts): 1 Star - Atmosphere - Is it a cool dive? Perhaps an upscale place? No matter the type, atmosphere plays a big part and I'll give a star if I like it or thinks it has great charm. 1 Star - Service - You can have a great meal with bad service. But that's also what can make a five star joint drop to four. It's important to the dining experience that service is great and on point. 2 Stars - Facility - I'll award up to two stars for the facility, since this is the main reason we go out. Sometimes the extra star is given for value, but it's really all about the facility. 1 Star - Will I come back? - If I know for a fact I'll return, I'll give this a star. A place has to make an impression for me to return. Each Category can be given up to 1 star except food (2 stars) because I consider all these categories important to the overall dining experience. I will sum them up to provide my final Yelp score.

10/27/17 Friday Great concert. It is a beautiful facility. It could do with a little refurbishing but still a nice venue. We saw the orchestra doing the score for raiders of the lost ark. It was so great; I forgot it was a live orchestra I was so into the movie; a seem less performance. Parking was a breeze too.

This is one our favorite places to go, even though it takes us ~1 hour to get there. Ample parking is available below to building, at very nearby parking lots and below the adjacent Winspear Opera House. The architecture and interior was designed by I.M. Pei and is beautiful. The auditorium has great acoustics, a very impressive pipe organ and ceiling. They offer a very good buffet dinner before concerts with a full bar, and you can pre-order drinks and dessert for intermission.

Great atmosphere inside the hall and out. A nice dining area is located near the front in case you want a meal or refreshments before the performance. Nicely decorated in areas outside the concert hall. Friendly staff that will show you to your seats. Plenty of restrooms - you don't usually see a long line at intermission in most areas. My only minor complaint would be that the hall is a slightly lacking in acoustics, and the leg room feels like that of an airplane. Other than that, a great place to hear the Dallas Symphony Orchestra.

My wife and I love attending the Meyerson. It sure beats the Bass Hall in Fort Worth. We have always considered the Meyerson as a five star venue. However, every good thing comes to an end even if it's only for one night. We attended the Vienna Boys Choir performance last month. Sorry, but it was so bad we left at the intermission. So did a lot of other people. The piano was so loud you couldn't hear the fifteen boys. The music selection left a lot to be desired. My wife's choir toured the US and Europe so I consider her knowledgeable and she even said they were out of key quite often. Usually we go with the flow and keep our comments to ourselves but this was really a disappointing evening.

Highly recommend the "Meyerson" and a "must" to have on your bucket list if visiting Dallas or live here! Simply put it is top notch class! The acoustics are phenomenal in the building. The design inside and out of the building is pure class. The marble structure of the interior will blow your mind. I highly recommend that you check out their musical list / program of musical events. Great guests to great musical events happen here more than the average concert hall. If you get the chance to have a bite of dinner prior to a musical event, the food is pretty good and what a great fun environment to have it in out in the large marble atrium.

We had an incredible time attending the Dallas Winds July 4th Concert today at the Meyerson. The staff at the venue was so helpful and pleasant. Our seats in the "Dress Circle" couldn't have been better. Next time we're in Dallas, we'll look forward to attending another event there soon.

This is a beautiful venue. From the lobby to the halls to the seating everything is great. This trip was for a field trip with my sons kindergarten class. My only complaint was that the parking garage was $10. Paying to park makes me angry! Other than that everything was great. The conductor was really good talking to the kids and describing the selections. The acoustics are perfect and we felt like we could hear every instrument. Everyone was extremely professional even though almost every one there was on a field trip. The seats are large and comfy and you can see the stage well. Great place to see a performance.

The city of Dallas is quickly establishing itself as an "arts" town. Millions of dollars have been put into the Arts District throughout the years, helping establish it as the largest arts district in the nation. In the midst of all of the new construction, the new theaters and opera houses, the Morton Meyerson Symphony Center still shines just as bright as it did when it first opened back in 1989. I've had the privilege of not only watching performances from the audience, but also working with the awesome staff of the Meyerson during TBAAL concerts throughout the years. All of my experiences with this center and with the people associated with it have been positive. First of all, the acoustics of this place are top notch. I've heard everything from a symphony orchestra, to a mass gospel choir, to a R&B soloist, and all of them sounded beautifully. Thick, movable concrete panels as well as thick curtains are adjusted accordingly to make each performance sound up to par. Not only the well thought out construction of the building, but the very knowledgeable staff help make everything sound perfect. Just looking at the building is an event itself. Once you enter the massive lobby, the white marble surrounds you immaculately. Large staircases and huge windows that show the view of the rest of the Arts District are all around you. While in the lobby, they serve refreshments and have some tables set up for you to socialize and drink before you enter and after you leave the concert hall itself. Inside McDermott Hall, most of the seating is very intimate with the stage. The different balcony levels shoot all the way around and get pretty close to the stage itself. There really isn't a bad seat in the house, even if you are sitting on the last row on the floor, you will enjoy the show without a problem. Besides the DSO, there are a lot of other spectacular events that you can attend at the Meyerson. TBAAL, the Greater Dallas Youth Orchestra, and many other groups perform here throughout the year. Parking shouldn't be too much of an issue. They have a garage (you have to pay of course), but there are plenty of parking lots nearby. They also have valet parking out front as well. Take a trip to a gem of Dallas, it will definitely be a memorable night.

Okay, I feel like a big ol' loser since I've only been to the Meyerson once. My poor sheltered life. I went a few Friday's ago to see Elvis Costello perform with the DSO. Awesome, awesome concert. We opted to pay the $20 valet to not have to walk in the Texas heat in heels. Pricey, but worth it, and they have the valet system running fairly smoothly so there wasn't that long of a wait at the end of the night. The venue is really kickass. I didn't even mind climbing the millions of stairs to get to the top level. There weren't really that many stairs, but my fat ass felt like there were. We were on the first row of the top balcony and it was kind of scary walking to our seats. I felt like one false move and I would be splattered on the floor below us. I'm clumsy, what can I say. Still very neat and we had a perfect view of the stage. I could imagine there's not going to be a bad seat in the house. I thought the sound was awesome. Then again it was Elvis Costello and I love his voice. The orchestra was great as well. An important tip (at least to me) is to buy booze on the first floor when you see it, because you can't find it upstairs, and you can't drink at your seats. This ain't no Starplex. Overall it was a great experience and I hope to return sooner than later.

It's easy to take your city for granted. To not explore what it actually offers. So I make a point to explore different parts of who my city is. Let me introduce you to the Meyerson- home to the Dallas Symphony Orchestra. The building itself is stunning. Every time I go, I wish I had a wide-angle lens with me to capture the many cool features of this structure. The seating is a little rigid- no reclining here! Be prepared to squeeze by others in your row, and possibly stand up to let others pass through. But I don't think there' s a bad seat in the house. My favorite so far has been the dress circle, but the grand tier (usually a less costly option) is not lacking anything. The staff here is really helpful. They will help you find your destination. Also, there are bells and chimes to alert you to when you need to haul ass to your seat. If you are fortunate enough to get their early, enjoy a beverage or cake before the show. I haven't partaken yet, but found myself drooling as I saw some cakes and an Irish coffee being made. Yes, please! Oh- and the music! Obviously each show is different. I've seen Vivaldi's Spring- featuring a flamboyant pianist, went to the Legend of Zelda symphony- that was fun!, and more recently saw an amazing violinist performing a composer I had never previously heard of (though I read he's quite popular in Finland). In all of these shows, I've found the timing to work out well. I enjoy the separation of movements, and the intermission always seems very well placed. There is a parking garage, valet, and (for those who enjoy racking up the steps on their pedometer) meters by the DMA- which are free on weekdays after 6. Dress code varies. It's not as fancy as I thought it might be on my first visit. Just make some effort and you'll be ok!

Oh Meyerson...you've held my heart since I was such a little girl. After having come to this venue over and over again for various things, I've come to love this part of downtown. Parking can be tricky, especially if you have paid for your parking with your tickets. If you're looking for Specialty Parking, don't get off the service road and drive by the Meyerson, then turn right. For paid parking, you have to get in front of the building for that. As Marissa said, Friday nights are Casual, but I think you could get away with any style of dress (jeans to formal) when you're there. I went this past Friday night and was pleased to find that I wasn't overdressed in a cocktail dress. The only downfall to the Meyerson is the floor seating. Girls or guys, if you're wearing high-heals be ready for your feet to hurt. The slightly slopped floor can make your feet like, though you're sitting down, you're standing the whole time. I had to keep my feet moving around to just take the pressure off them from the slope. The acoustics were not as I had remembered them, though. The sound, though we were close, was a little light in comparison to the loudness of the piece. I haven't heard the organ played here yet, so I don't know how that bounces off the walls, but the stringed orchestra and piano played lightly against the building. Very helpful staff, great visual appeal and always a good show.

The MLK Celebration was well diverse and good. Performances this year included some local and world known artist. The TBAAL choir and dancers put on an awesome show this year. Ledisi performance was outstanding with a standing ovation each time. Chrisette Michelle was good bit seemed a bit withdrawn and holding back her true range of vocal melodies. A the end both artist sang "We Shall Overcome" together that brought the house down. This was a great tribute concert to Dr. King, very spiritual and moving. NOTE: Parking garage is seriously bad. Waiting for elevators and exiting is a total take a number and being a book or good CD moment. "FOR REAL!! Ladies, my advice is to let him go get the car while you hang out in lobby being gorgeous and social... (( wink, wink..:()

The Meyerson Symphony is world class! Truly one of the best symphonies I have heard. The building is absolutely beautiful and has wonderful acoustics. Really no seat is a bad seat in that auditorium! I've been here many times over the years and have always enjoyed a great performance. Definitely a treat!

Very nice place but they need a cop directing traffic and more concession stands and none of the water fountains work

The Morton Meyerson Symphony Center is considered one of the best 5 symphony halls in the world. I have a rather unusual dual perspective of this place - both as a concertgoer and as a performing musician. I have sat in, and played at, several good concert halls around the country, from Washington, DC to San Francisco. For some reason I like the Meyerson the best of any of 'em. As a concertgoer, I like being able to get a glass of champagne and a pastry snack at intermission. I like the roomy lobby with the graceful stone archways. I like the enormous Lay Family organ with the spectacular array of pipes. And I like the comfortable box seats. As a performing musician, I really like the spacious "green room" and small lounge with portraits of DSO musicians. I only wish the restrooms were larger! The stage is easily accessible and negotiable, and I have little trouble hearing my neighboring musicians. And the orchestra chairs are really, really comfortable! In case any concertgoers ever wonder why the ticket prices are as high as they are, consider that it costs about $5,000 for an orchestra to rent the hall for only one night. But it's a great hall.

Designed by I.M. Pei and truly one of Dallas' beautiful buildings... just gorgeous at night from inside and out with that beautiful curved glass! And now that the Winspear is next door, the area is a must see place for tourists... the pretty side of Dallas! Have gone to several concerts here... the symphony is always fantastic, and the sound is just unbelievable! So good in fact, that one evening when sitting in box seats provided by the boss, we could hear a gentlman snoring from the orchestra area when the music got soft... can someone nudge him please!?!?! Remember that - acoustics are not a friend to the weary. This is the place to truly enjoy the glamorous side of Dallas... get dressed up, hit Stephan Pyles for drinks and snacks, then head to the symphony! Couldn't ask for a more lovely evening! If you have children, the Symphony's Family Series makes for a wonderful afternoon too... crafts and instruments to play with in the lobby before the show, and a child friendly short concert.

Went here many times as a child and all my memories are fond. I most recently went on June 29th to see the Music of Abba. The building is still gorgeous, the organ is still amazing, and the acoustics were fabulous (at least to my untrained ear). Seats were plush and a bit roomier/more comfortable than other music venues I've been to (Fair Park..so forth). Ushers were very helpful and walked me to my seat, even though it was obvious where it was. The valet was expensive, but fantastic. Frontcurb drop off and lower parking garage pickup. $20 gets you super speedy service...those poor boys were r-u-n-n-i-n-g like I've never seen before. And, though you could tell they wanted to keep running, they made sure to wait and close the doors on alllll the old ladies present. Nice touch, dudes. For those with handicapped friends/family though, you have to either wait in a super long line for the elevator, or go up/down a bunch of stairs....my mom has trouble walking and I felt bad that she had to walk too much.

Unlike some of I.M. Pei's other ventures, the Meyerson has aged quite well, perhaps because the Pei-esque exterior doesn't intrude on the opulently beautiful, Old World-esque interior that features amazing acoustics and a 4,535 pipe organ. It seats just over 2,000, but the feel is still intimate.

It's the real deal! This is a fantastic place to listen to music - of all kinds. The DSO have embraced many kinds of music, so some bands can get the added advantage of playing with a world-class orchestra. Oh and the organ - that would be the Lay Family Organ is an absolutely beautiful instrument. Whenever Mary Preston plays it is pure perfection. Season tix are our annual treat to ourselves. We always have such a good time there. This last time was no exception. Oh, and if you can score a backstage or other tour take advantage. It's perfection.

Oh oh! You landed a date with the classy neighbor that lives down the hall. Now what? Well buddy, you're in luck! The Meyerson is all-out class. It's about getting dressed up and pretending you're someone in life. Check their website and see who's playing. They frequently have some contemporary pop artist from the 70s and 80s visit for a fusion of their music and the house orchestra. Before the show you can dine and/or have drinks in the lobby (they convert it into a floating restaurant/bar before the show). There you can relax with some wine, look at all the other folks and wonder what they do for a living. My Meyerson Tips: a. Spring for the box seats on the upper levels. Sitting down on the floor level is for chumps, and if you might as well go there in style. b. When you order the tickets for the show, try not to give anyone your address or at least the correct phone number. For a year after the show you'll get constant calls and mailings trying to solicit more business from you. They are very aggressive this way. So don't worry. You'll keep that class-act happy with a pair of season tickets to the Meyerson.

Such a cool venue! We loved our visits. We saw the indigo girls with the Dallas Symphony.... it was awesome.

The Meyerson is phenomenal.... I took a tour on a Friday during the day. A FREE organ display and tour of the center. It was awesome. When you see an orchestra here, it will absolutely wow you. The history behind the building makes it just that much more enjoyable. Not to mention I went on "casual" Friday. If you get a chance, GO! You wear jeans and a shirt, they have couches in the lobby, and a jazz quartet was playing the in lobby with snacks and drinks available after the show. I can't rave enough about this place. The arts need to be something we hold on to, and the Meyerson keeps it alive in Dallas.

WOW. All over, in every respect, that was the response we had in our inaugural trip to the Meyerson. - the DSO rocking out the score to the Planet Earth documentary with commentary and conducting from the original composer - WOW - the sheer magnitude, beautiful lines, and fantastically appointed amenities of the Meyerson Center - WOW - a sold out house on a Saturday in June where I think that every packed seat in the house had a great vantage point - WOW - the fact that we were able to get out of the miles deep parking garage and back onto the expressway within like 10 minutes - double WOW Honestly, I had already begun penning my review in my head as we were walking out of the concert detracting a star or two from my anticipated parking meltdown getting out of the garage, but I have to give some props to the Dallas drivers - way to TCOB getting home! We will definitely go back!

Still a really cool place. Acoustics are still great, in my opinion. Works for music and speakers(Colin Powell was the last person I saw here). I like walking around and checking out some of the various art pieces- some are fantastic. The staff here is always courteous and helpful. I hope that there are many more visits here in my near future.

A friend and I attended the Casual Fridays event last night and it was wonderful! The attire was mixed, though the staff suggests jeans there were a lot of people dressed up. I was a little curious about the architecture in the sense that the main performance hall was not exactly a reflection of the exterior of the building. The main forum areas were pretty modern but the inside was very traditional. Our seats were interesting upon first sitting down because they were behind the orchestral players. However, it ended up being a place that I would enjoy sitting again...(just don't sit behind the drums, the symbols are a bit intense at times). It was a great experience overall!

In my opinion one of the most beautiful concert halls yet. The acoustics are great and the decor is gorgeous. During intermission, I always love getting a glass of wine and some bread pudding (delicious!). In my opinion, Jones Hall got nothing on the Meyerson!

Beautiful space, fantastic acoustics. Online ticket ordering is a breeze. However, if you plan to go, best to order your tickets well ahead of time because some performances can sell out rather quickly. A few negatives about seating: Grand Tier seating is several levels up, so if you're sporting super high heels, not steady on your feet or lacking physical stamina, take the elevators because it can be a long walk up carpet and tile stairs. Box seats tend to be hit or miss; if you don't care about looking at the stage then it's not a problem. But if there's a visual aspect to your program, then it might be something of a strain to look over the rails and past the column in your line of sight. Also, the regular auditorium seating isn't adjustable, nor very forgiving for wide girths. If you're packing some extra pounds (especially on your posterior), it can make for a very long uncomfortable show. As other Yelps have observed, it might be a long hike to your chair if you chose something central, meaning an obstacle course of patrons to shuffle in front of/next to. The box seating tends to be more comfortable and accessible since they are individual cushioned chairs, but availability might be a problem. The staff here are always polite and helpful. It's also convenient that they have a cafe/concession lobby. Thankfully, rest stops are plentiful on every level, though it might mean long lines during especially popular performances. Valet and underground garage parking are conveniently located so you don't have to worry about navigating busy downtown traffic if you're pressed for time to make a show. The symphony center shop is nice, but I wished there were more souvenirs worth taking home. But the retail space is hardly the reason to go the Meyerson...this is all about the space and the shows. A worthy place to get yourself a good dose of culture.
