Dalur - HI Eco Hostel, Café & Bar

Everything was excellent. We loved that the entire check-in process was self-service, and it was all very easy to understand and follow. We stayed in a double room with a private bathroom, which was beautiful, super clean, and in great condition. The whole place was very comfortable and fully equipped.

Budget friendly accommodation with nice atmosphere and perfect location next to the swimming pool and in walking distance to the city centre. We had a great stay with the family. highly recommended and truly value for money.

Nice hostel with good facilities, but the breakfast experience felt uncomfortable. Dalur – HI Eco Hostel is clean, modern, and has a nice eco-friendly atmosphere. The rooms and common areas were fine, and the breakfast itself was okay. However, even though we paid for the breakfast, a staff member came to our table and told us we were not allowed to take an apple and a banana with us. She was not rude, but the situation felt unnecessary and uncomfortable as if we were doing something wrong, even though the food was already included in what we paid for. It left us feeling embarrassed and negatively affected the overall experience. The hostel itself is good, but a bit more clarity and flexibility toward guests would make a big difference. Because of this moment, I can only rate it 3 out of 5.

This was our first time staying in a hostel. We had our own room for five people with our own bathroom. We were just spending the night and headed out for adventures the next day so this was a perfect stay. We had a very nice breakfast and a great surrounding and, if we were staying longer, they provide spaces and opportunities for relaxation and enjoyment with your family and friends.

Clean hostel in a quiet location. We saw Northern lights from the hostel. The rooms are compact and cozy. There are 2 well equipped kitchens but for the number of rooms in the hostel, the bathrooms/toilet were not enough.

I had a great stay at Dalur Hostel. Although it's a bit too far to walk to the city center, you can take a bus. Rooms and kitchen were clean enough. You have almost everything you can expect from a hostel. The most of the staff were nice and friendly. I don't know if one person may need a bit more training, or it was just me. The breakfast was great for the price, but I overlooked the fact that I had to leave earlier. Instead of booking via online, it's a bit more flexible if you pay upfront.

Clean, quiet and comfortable hostel accommodation. My daughter and I shared a double room. Made use of the kitchen and the bar. Liked all the different sitting spaces. Helpful staff. Handy for drop off/ pick up tour buses. Convenient for baths and zoo. Two downsides: 1. Cost. Felt this was really expensive for hostel accommodation, however nice. 2. There are no cafes or restaurants in the immediate location apart from astronomically expensive and awful Domino’s pizza. The last night we were there there was a fish and chip van in the campsite but there is nothing locally. And the nearest supermarket is about a 20 minute walk away. Local buses make getting into town very cheap and easy but they are not that frequent.

Clean family room with bunk beds. Good instructions provided on how to check in to room in the late hours. They should have someone on reception 24 hours as after 11.30pm no one is at reception and the support phone service does not connect either
