This Culinary Cruise Through the Pacific Northwest Follows Lewis and Clark's Path

"Among the Walla Walla tasting rooms I visited was the woman-owned Dama Wines, where I joined an afternoon of tastings that underscored how the city’s downtown has become a compact hub of exploratory small producers." - Becky Cooper

Probably the best GSM you can ever taste!!! Smells like heaven. Now let’s talk about customer service - I asked my friends why this place was highly recommended but only had a 4.5. It’s the customer service y’all. The lady that served us today (7/26) clearly does NOT want to be there. For such a great wine, I would expect some hype and excitement from her. Also, I ordered a glass of the gsm and this woman gave me a tasting size. I paid full glass price for about 3oz. Had to call after to ask what’s a glass size. She did confirm - a glass should be 5oz. The wine was great, but I recommend that you buy a bottle and not endure their customer service.

Jeff was the best wine tasting host in our already exceptional visit to Walla Walla! Not only was he knowledgable about Dama's wine and history, but he is an expert story-telling, extremely educated about a variety of topics, warm and friendly. He gave us terrific recommendations for other places to visit, and added substantially to our experience. We're partial to reds, and they were bold, yet balanced, and each had a unique but pleasant taste. The wine club membership is a great value and the location downtown is fantastic for people watching.

I have visited this winery many times before but was recently served by Jeff who provided an incredible experience. Knowledgeable, funny, and welcoming. Would highly recommend this amazing woman-owned business for the delicious, well-priced wines, cool space, and lovely time.

I was excited to return and support a woman-owned local business, but the experience was deeply disappointing. We arrived at 5:15 PM, 45 minutes before closing, and were abruptly told no tastings were available, which was understandable. What wasn’t acceptable was the rude and dismissive attitude from the woman with gray hair and glasses working, who rolled her eyes and made it clear we weren’t welcome. I’ve visited before, felt warmly welcomed, and even purchased bottles, but this experience left a sour impression. She also turned away another group of four right after us. It’s hard to understand why someone so openly dismissive and unwelcoming would be the face of the business. Sadly, I won’t be returning, and I wouldn’t feel comfortable recommending this place to others after this encounter.

Google
Dama Wines was just beautiful. Great wines, welcoming and inspiring atmosphere, the host was warm and knowledgeable, would highly recommend if you’re in the Walla Walla area, or visiting. The winemaker is a woman and the bottles display art mainly by or of women. The standouts to me were the Grenache and the Viognier. supporting local minority owned businesses is always a good decision!

Really enjoyed visiting the new tasting room location today. The upper level is beautiful, private, perfect for an event or even privately tasting looking over downtown. I loved my bottle of collage, one of my favorites I tasted this weekend. We will be back!

Always have to stop by when in Walla Walla! If you’re not sure you can enjoy wine! This is a great place to build those taste buds! Try their flights. All their wines (including their bold wines) are smooth! #womenowned

Google
Lovely tasting room & delicious wines. Patio is warm and inviting- the owner is delightful to chat with and the wine is splendid! Highly recommend their Granache Blanc 2022!

Yelp
We stopped in for a tasting and left with a nice bottle. However, the best part of the visit was the interesting snippet of history of the winery and the geography lesson shared. I'm sorry that I don't remember his name, but his personality and knowledge was so impressive.

Yelp
Great ownership - love support local, woman owned business! Doing a tasting with the owner there is always fun with better insight into the wines. The inside is so nice and a great place to hang out during a day of wine tasting with friends and family. The wines themselves were overall more dry and acidic than other wines we tasted during our trip, but definitely not bad. Depending on your personal preferences, you may like or not, but for one of the cheapest tastings in Walla Walla, I think it's worth a stop in! We ended up buying some bottles of the rose.

Yelp
My husband and I really enjoy bold red wines. DAMA did not disappoint! After we did a tasting, we purchased a bottle of the tempranillo and two bottles of the Collage (Merlot forward blend). Looking forward to drinking them when we get home!

Yelp
Fun tasting room, female owner, quirky and fun staff- they'll tell you some great stories if you listen. There are so many cool and cozy corners to sit in here. Just grab a glass, bottle, or do the tasting and chill inside or outside. You wont regret it. Many of our friends bought bottles here so there really is something for everyone.

Yelp
Jeff was a great host. The wines are superb and I would highly recommend them. Reasonable prices and lovely patio to sip at.

Yelp
Our only real disappointment in Walla Walla. Poor service, no dump buckets for tastings, and we didn't like a single tasting of six. The wines all seemed bitter/acidic to us. All to taste we know but this was a miss during an overall fantastic tasting day.

Yelp
Wife and I did a tasting this weekend and the wines were, not good at all. The service was even worse. We spent four days in Walla Walla and this place was by far the worst of all. The setting is decent so the two stars is just for the ambiance and the potential to be better. The pourers need to be more educated on their wines and just more pleasant.

Yelp
Women owned winery that allows dogs and serves delicious wines! Cute tasting room along Main Street with covered outdoor seating where we could chill with our dog. Our server was fun and friendly and the overall ethos of the company is pretty badass.

Yelp
Cute little artsy wine tasting room with wonderful customer service! Really enjoyed the wine! Had an incident with my wine bottle falling out from the bag and breaking and the staff was eager to replace the bottle! I really do appreciate it and will be back! Thanks for making my visit in W2 the next few weeks so wonderful!

Yelp
Amazing service, and amazing wine! We stopped here on a whim, and I am SO glad we did!! I would drink every single wine they were serving over and over again. My only disappointment is that I didn't purchase more!

Yelp
The Winery: As the other reviewer so thoroughly pointed out, Da Ma does not grow grapes, but makes blends from other vineyards and sells them under the beautiful Da Ma label. We were drawn in by the shine and shimmer of the tasting room. Lots of sparkle and flair separate Da Ma from the other tasting rooms downtown. The label boasts a watercolor of a subtle yet sexy woman in a pink dress, and it speaks volumes about the winery and its proprietors. The Wines: The Da Ma wines themselves fit well with the image the proprietors are attempting to exude. Sexy, bold reds, full of life. Fruit forward but not in-your-face. Smooth on the end, with a bit of tannins to stand up on the palate right at the finish. The 04 is great now but will be even better in a few years. The 05 is not ready yet, and needs some time to develop. I expect great things. Mark this as a "must visit" on your list.

Yelp
Stopped on a whim and glad we did. Great wines at a good price point. Friendly people and great service.

Yelp
We stopped in and tasted I believe 6 wines--a chardonnay and five reds. I ended up buying a bottle of the DaMaNation wine--it's a red blend with minty and cola undertones. I'm not huge on wine but this one was really drinkable so I bought it to take back to Vegas. The owner, Mary, was very chatty and not so much about the wines. I'm from the midwest so I appreciate a good chit-chatter in the service industry, but I would have liked to know more about the wines themselves. Walla Walla is cute in general and I liked this tasting room a lot!

Yelp
Great wine. Great people. It's a nice little semi-modern winery in downtown Walla Walla.

Yelp
Traveling here out of family needs during these precarious times, I did not take the time to plan a leisurely vacation in Walla Walla. But while here, I randomly looked up wine tasting rooms downtown and came across this woman-owned business. I wanted to support small businesses, so I stopped in to purchase a couple bottles. The woman who helped me was so nice and helpful, the business looked beautiful (I look forward to visiting again during non - Covid times!), and the wine she recommended tasted great. I highly recommend supporting this business.

Yelp
In a land rife with wine options, DaMa was unfortunately underwhelming for me. The venue itself is nice enough and spacious: a large table near the enterance, a bar area with about 6 seats, a few other seating areas, and a loft which I did not explore. The venue seems to be appealing to a more light-hearted rather than sophisticated crowd - there was a not-so-subtle "naughty" theme throughout. The price, however is on par with other wineries that take themselves a bit more seriously (or snooty). I can clarify that it was not overly expensive. A flight tasting was $8 (I believe there was a Rose, a Chardonnay, a Cowgirl Cab ("everyday red"), a Merlot, a 2011 and 2010 DaManation GSM flagship red, and a Syrah . . .there may have been another Cab Sav in there, but I can't recall) which was applicable to a bottle purchase. The pourer had some socially questionable moments but was attentive and kept up on our pours despite being away from the bar. Overall, the experience was okay. The wine didn't really grab me on any front but if I were to chose, I would recommend the 2010 DaManation GSM. Despite me not being fully sold on the experience, there are accolades to be issued for letting us close the place down on a Sunday while chatting with other out-of-towners. Positives: Venue fits many, seems to draw in large crowds, clean, priced in the median Negatives: Wine did not impress, staff could amp up the bubbly.

Yelp
Only been here once, but loved every wine I tasted. Especially loved the GSM and the Collage, also the rose. Lovely friendly women-owned winery.

Yelp
Tasting room is so cool! Mel was so accommodating and fun, and she made sure our group had a great time. Delicious wine too!

Yelp
First trip to Walla Walla, we rented bikes and went wine tasting downtown. I am always looking for a good Chardonnay. DaMa's was one of my favorites in Walla Walla. Mary was great to host us and we took over the tasting room and relaxed for a few minutes.

Samantha S.

Yelp
Absolutely LOVED this place. Their wine is delicious and our pourer was generous and very chatty (in a good way!). She also gave us a map of other wineries and tasting rooms to check out. Out of all the tasting rooms we visited we stayed here the longest because it had such a great atmosphere. I highly recommend DaMa!

Ron M.

Yelp
I also felt there was a lack of knowledge and that the owners are on the shallow side and are blending wines that they donot grow. They say that they are blending premium wines but you donot have to blend a good wine. If you are just looking for a sexy label and a company that appeals to shallow women who want to drink and feel sexy then you found the right place. If you want quality wines and know quality you will not want to make this a place to stop at. The wines are overpriced. You can find much better service and better quality wines for the money at the many other shops in Walla Walla. Walla Walla is a good grape growing area for quality wine making.

Alex M.

Yelp
My wife and I stopped in the tasting room in Walla Walla and were told by the young lady there that each taste cost $5 and when we questioned this, never having been to Walla Walla we were told that we would find all the other winery rooms had the same policy!! Happily we found out that it wasn't true. $5 bucks at the other stores got a taste of the entire flight of what the others were pouring. I sent a message to DaMa from their web form questioning this and have not yet received an answer. We had a great time visiting other tasting rooms and wineries, but DaMa left a bad taste.
