If you're one of the zillions of NYC-area people who've been making the easy trip to Portugal recently, Damas is probably on your list. Do you love Hudson's Lil Deb's Oasis? Are you a Dimes Square denizen? Did you love Mission Chinese before it sold out? Then you'll probably have a great time at Damas! If my previous few sentences were unintelligible, I am sincerely sorry, but the translation is: Damas earns stars for both its excellent food and its fun vibes.
The crowd is young, hip, and not entirely tourists, and the servers have cool aesthetics and the vague hauteur of the extremely hip. The menu, refreshed daily, is chalked onto a big blackboard outside the open kitchen, and features, no surprise, a lot of fresh and seasonal seafood, along with plenty of vegan/vegetarian options. You'd satisfy a lot of different types of eaters here, from least to most adventurous, and there are lots of interesting cultural influences among the dishes.
I'd highly recommend trying out some of their speciality cocktails, and getting a bunch of plates to share. We really loved the big juicy shrimp we got, and the desserts are not to be missed! Also, it's a good call to make a reservation as this can be something of a hot ticket on nice nights. Damas offers a great combo of delicious food and a fun atmosphere, and is super reasonably priced for the amazing quality of the cuisine. Highly recommend you add it to your Lisboa itinerary!
