On the Grid : Damas Bar

"Once a bakery, Damas Bar is now a fun and versatile space where you can go for an original meal, a glass of wine with friends or where you can go for alternative concerts. The restaurant menu features a few dishes of the day, and it offers vegetarian and vegan options. All in all, Damas Bar is your go to place if you’re in the mood for a good time." - v-a

All-Portuguese menu: had veal & octopus salad. Good for groups (big tables), solo diners, and vegans (!!)

We loved the food and the atmosphere and, in contrast with other reviews here, the service was also very good. Keep in mind it was a Saturday night and they were really busy, but the still took the time to translate the whole menu

Barely visible from the street, it is a very special place, with warm welcome, polite service and authentic flavours. The coriander rice and the fried green beans were also delicious. Unfortunately, the beef was so salty in the sauce that it was almost inedible. The beer is very good with it. All in all, I would definitely recommend this place if you want a local culinary experience.

Very authentic restaurant with delicious food! We tried something we never had before: potatoes with french garlic. The shrimps were also very very good. The atmosphere is very cool with loud music and young people. It’s a 10 out of 10 recommendation!

A must go place if you love "Fresh". I had excellent tuna tartar. The air fried seaweed beautiful and tasty. The waitress' are adorable, beautiful ladies with so much style. We enjoyed sitting in the upper window and watching the vibe outside as well. A one of a kind experience, we just happened by. I would not be surprised if the chef gets rated #MichelinStar. The brownies are made there as well.

What a great restaurant! The menu changes, presumably daily so the menu literally goes on the wall. We didn’t know what to get so the server picked us an assortment and off we went. When the food started to arrive it was flavour bomb after flavour bomb, each dish fresh and lovely. We had both vegan and meat dishes and left completely stuffed and pretty certain we wouldn’t find a better dining experience in Lisbon!

One of the worst restaurant experiences I’ve had in a long time. From the start, the service was disappointing. We were made to wait before being seated, even though they clearly didn’t have the time to serve us properly. They could have just turned us away — instead, they rushed us through everything. We barely had time to look at the menu before being pressured to order. Then while we were still eating, we were asked to pay, even though half of our table hadn’t even received their food yet. We were told the rest of the dishes were on the way… but they never came. Later, we were simply informed that the kitchen had closed. No food, no apology, nothing. And yet, we were still charged for the missing 3 dishes. When we brought this up, the staff showed zero empathy and no apologies. They handed us a 10-euro bill to make up for more than 30 euros’ worth of missing food. Only after pushing back did we finally get the correct refund — in cash, awkwardly, and again without a single word of apology. We paid a lot, some of us didn’t even get to eat, and the staff clearly didn’t care. I’m sure the food is good, and the ambiance is really cool but I didn’t get to enjoy it 🥲

Google
Best spot for delicious flavours utilizing fresh ingredients in Lisbon! Our server took the time to give recommendations and share their favourites, which did not disappoint! We were initially looking to order specific items (the spicy beef salad as it came highly recommended) but they happened to be out for the evening. I highly recommend trying the shrimp, octopus and a pork dish if available. We even tried vegan dishes which were also delicious (leek/sweet potatoes and black bean hummus). I will definitely be back if I return to Lisbon in the future!

Yelp
Very large, yet homie place! The staff was very patience and kind to helping us navigate the menu which is written on the wall! Skip the chickpea and eggplant dish and try their Pulled Pork dish it was ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS! I wasn't impressed by my mojito, but my friend's Aperol Fizz was phenomenal!

Yelp
Damas is a must visit when in Lisboa. Luckily, our Airbnb was a few doors down so Damas was the restaurant we frequented the most -- it also helped that they were open until 2 am. We tried many plates from the menu & they were all amazing, the food is fresh & seasoned perfectly! My favorites were the ceviche & the tuna tartare, they were plate lickin' good! The staff is super friendly & accommodating, we were a group of 7 & they always found a way to seat us together. The interior is clean & inviting & the service is fast. The drinks are amazing! The quality, presentation & taste are all there. They have a large variety of cocktails, wine & a small selection of beer so there's something for everyone. Thank you, Damas for being awesome!

Yelp
Nestled within the bustling city, this charming eatery is a true treasure trove, offering an array of mouthwatering dishes and delightful snacks and beverages. Its convenient location led us to frequent visits, each time discovering new flavors and experiences. The culinary offerings were not only exquisite but also remarkably fresh, with a diverse menu displayed on the wall, adding to the overall ambiance. The attentive staff were always eager to provide outstanding recommendations, while the beverages, meticulously prepared with fresh ingredients and an impressive selection of cocktails, were a true sensory delight. Despite our sizable group of seven, the accommodating and amiable staff always managed to secure a cozy spot for us, ensuring a memorable dining experience each time. This establishment is a must-visit for both dining and unwinding with delectable snacks and drinks.

Yelp
If you're one of the zillions of NYC-area people who've been making the easy trip to Portugal recently, Damas is probably on your list. Do you love Hudson's Lil Deb's Oasis? Are you a Dimes Square denizen? Did you love Mission Chinese before it sold out? Then you'll probably have a great time at Damas! If my previous few sentences were unintelligible, I am sincerely sorry, but the translation is: Damas earns stars for both its excellent food and its fun vibes. The crowd is young, hip, and not entirely tourists, and the servers have cool aesthetics and the vague hauteur of the extremely hip. The menu, refreshed daily, is chalked onto a big blackboard outside the open kitchen, and features, no surprise, a lot of fresh and seasonal seafood, along with plenty of vegan/vegetarian options. You'd satisfy a lot of different types of eaters here, from least to most adventurous, and there are lots of interesting cultural influences among the dishes. I'd highly recommend trying out some of their speciality cocktails, and getting a bunch of plates to share. We really loved the big juicy shrimp we got, and the desserts are not to be missed! Also, it's a good call to make a reservation as this can be something of a hot ticket on nice nights. Damas offers a great combo of delicious food and a fun atmosphere, and is super reasonably priced for the amazing quality of the cuisine. Highly recommend you add it to your Lisboa itinerary!

Yelp
We absolutely loved Damas. We ended up going a few times during our week stay in town. Menu is on the wall, you can take a photo, order from your table. We tried many different things, our favorite was the tuna crudo and ceviche. We also got a pitcher of sangria each time too, just enjoying our time talking and eating. If we are ever back in town we will of course go here. It's been 5 months since we visited and we still talk about our food.

Yelp
The place is interesting indeed!! Would say reminds me of being back in Brooklyn! Very friendly and diverse staff! The space is open for lunch and dinner and has a changing menu. Drinks are nice as well.. the cocktails are a bit on the pricey side relatively speaking... and tasty! As for the food, good quality... go for the expat crowd... seems to be the main clientele!

Yelp
We just had the most delicious and amazingly prepared meal here. The swordfish was incredible. The squid and cilantro rice equally delicious. The staff is so very patient and helpful. The fish balls, yucca, falafel, fish soup, and dessert were top notch. If you are in Lisbon do not miss this restaurant. Service, prices, and exquisitely prepared food are second to none. A gem in Lisbon.

Yelp
I love this place. It's a bit dark, a bit smokey. The food is really good and the staff will help you figure out what to order from the menu, specials change daily, I believe. Good variety of adult beverages. Relaxed, tasty.

Yelp
Just want to reiterate a previous comment about the tremendous quantity of ass present at this establishment. Great food, naked butts, fun times all around.

Yelp
Great food! We tried the vegetarian menu of the day - it was great. Different menu and tapas each day. Trendy and cosy.

Yelp
Very relaxed restaurant! We came here through a recommendation from a friend as they do vegetarian food. They usually only have 3 main courses: veggie, meat and fish. We had the veggie and meat meals. Both cooked very well, guacamole as a starter was really good too :) definitely a place to come back as not many veggie options in the area. Totally worth the money! We paid about 11 euros each (including drinks And starters).
