The Behind-the-Scenes Chefs Who Saved Their Restaurants

"A restaurant whose owners organized a summer series of pop-ups and invited a former dishwasher, Tío Rey, to sell his well-regarded tamales for a weekend, structuring the event so he could realistically make a profit while acknowledging the relative privilege required to offer such support." - Mahira Rivers

Honestly not worth it here, at all. The food has little to no flavor, not even the salt less hot sauce can save it. I try to be observant of things happening in an establishment, BUT, when you have 3 cooks taking in the lobby, 1 making churros and 1 cashier and still no food after 20 minutes you are doing something wrong. The cashier was nice, the cook that was left alone was ok, but the rest of the service was bland just like the food. Also the seating is not comfortable. High stools everywhere make it even worse to eat there. Might as well stand. All I wanted was to stuff my face with food :(.

Nice little corner in the Santee Alley, great tasting food and drinks all reasonably priced. If you love hot dogs or just Mexican food and happened to be in downtown this is a great place to fill up and continue with your exploration in the Santee Alley. Id recommend to try the Alley Dog and the Hazelnut Iceed Coffee.

Had the beacon bacon wrapped hot dog with everything and a grilled serrano on the side. Delicious.

The gentleman taking the order was kind, and his customer service was on point; he was respectful and, most importantly, patient. The food was not like “omg”, but I had better; the food did its job. The street hot dogs are A LOT more tasteful than the ones in the restaurant, and for the same price.

They force you to buy combos Ripping people off. Super expensive! Not worth it. I regret buying food here.

I disagree with the previous review. I order a double cheeseburger with thousand islands sauce and it was very tasteful. plus, it was only $5 for a double cheeseburger. i also order two chicken tacos (which were good) and for all of that food i payed under $10. it was great PLUS the service was amazing, the people were very kind & friendly. totally recommend it if you’re shopping on santee alley and you need a quick and easy bite.

Very mediocre food for a not so mediocre price. Spent 70$ on 4 items, 1 being a burrito bowl which was inedible, upon letting the staff know, they did nothing and had no intentions of correcting it. Do not recommend

Beware of their AGUA FRESCA. I got watermelon/Sandia and I got E.Coli. Drank it at 12:45pm, rushed to restroom at 2:15pm; bubble guts at 4pm. At 6pm is where I was feeling nauseous and horrible cramps. Spoke with a nurse and said it was e.coli and suggested ER for dehydration.

Yelp
This restaurant is super clean and well kept! The food is good, my favorite was the fries and the agua fresca. The service is great. Prices are very reasonable for the portions you get. Definitely recommend!

Yelp
After a walk around the fashion district, Santee Alley brought us to this spot. The place is bigger than it looks and there is plenty of seats inside and outside. The service is good and there wasn't a long wait time. I got their watermelon agua fresca. It was around $8 for a large size. There might only be one size for the drink because I don't remember specifying what size. It was okay. It was really sweet but on a hot day it was refreshing. My friend got their birria quesotacos. It was around $14 for 4 pieces which isn't bad and it came with consume. They looked bomb! I might try this place again if I'm in the area. P.S. They do not have public restrooms.
