Dampa is a very authentic way to experience the Filipino market culture.
First, you choose the restaurant you'd like to eat. Check their menu for inspirations. Many Filipinos have staple orders like Sautéed Butter Shrimp, or Grilled Pork Liempo or Grilled Tuna Panga (Jaw)
And then, you can either shop your own ingredients, or the restaurant will go for you.
Whenever we are here, I personally shop for our own ingredients because we know a seafood supplier at the market. And it is way cheaper doing it yourself.
And then we like to go to Mang Ponso stall for our seafoods to be cooked and served.
Sometimes we go for take outs too. So we can bring them to parties!
Beware of the ff:
1) it is an open area, not air-conditioned.
2) take care of your own belongings.
3) there's a separate charge if you buy your own ingredients, and the restaurant will charge you for cooking.
4) don't dress fancy. It's a public market.
