22 Best Beaches in Los Angeles, From Venice to White Point | Condé Nast Traveler

"Quiet and often uncrowded, this Malibu beach is a sunbather’s heaven with soft golden sand, long walks, gentle little waves perfect for jumping in, encouraged swimming, light surfing, and—even for scuba enthusiasts—well-known spots to submerge and explore sea life." - Maxwell Williams

Dan Blocker Beach is one of Malibu’s quietest ocean-view spots — perfect if you want the coastline without the crowds. There’s plenty of parking, clean restrooms, and a pay station right at the entrance. While this spot doesn’t have direct beach access (important to know), the clifftop overlook is absolutely beautiful — clear views down the coast, peaceful landscaping, and several sturdy picnic tables that are great for a snack break or just enjoying the ocean breeze. It’s a really nice stop for anyone driving the PCH who wants an easy pull-in with facilities, open space, and a place to take in that classic Malibu blue water. A very underrated viewpoint along the coast!

Great little stop on our way back into Santa Monica! Porta John's is available as the restroom facility is closed. Nice view of the ocean and plenty of seating areas. Benches and picnics tables for all to enjoy. Our pups loved it!

Great beach with amazing views. Carefully when walking on the beach, some people leave their class bottles. Bring lunch and have a seat on the sand. Small waves, not too crowded, and beautiful sunsets and sunrises. Come on down!

Had a great time this place is very beautiful, I loved it, the air was clean you can really enjoy the fresh , cool air, the water was so cold at first. Then you get used to it, nice place to visit.

It's a nice stop for a view and a restroom. Didn't notice a way to the beach but I wasn't looking.

Google
One of my favorite beach spots in Malibu, I don’t actually lay out at Dan Blocker as it’s a bit over crowded but one within walking distant that is a bit more challenging to get to, only making it more secluded, and more amazing. Malibu beaches in general are some of the nicest in California.

Yelp
No access to beach. Porta potty only. Not worth paying for parking. Not even good photo stop.

Yelp
There are no steps down to the beach. All you can do is pull over your car and get out and look at the water, or you can take a quarter-mile hike on the shoulder of the deadliest highway in California. And go down the beach steps there. But then you no longer are at Blocker Beach.

Yelp
I love this beach it is memorialized from my favorite actor Dan Blocker also known as Hoss Cartwright in Bonanza. Maybe someday if you read this review you will get a beach that's named after you too

Yelp
Great section of beach between two housing blocks. Free parking on PCH. Lots of rocks for scenery. A lifeguard is on duty and even a port on potty. Stop by Malibu seafood across the street for some great lunch.

Yelp
Had to take someone to the airport, so on the way home I grabbed something for breakfast and went looking for a place to eat it. Dan Blocker Beach parking lot was where I chose. Dan Blocker Beach is a 1 mile stretch of beach donated to the county by the stars of the television show Bonanza in honor of their friend and costar, Dan Blocker. It was meant to give public access to the beach, and this being Malibu, it took 35 years, there are private houses on it, including one that blocks access from one side to the other and no direct access from the parking lot to the beach. Infer what you will. You can access the beach by parking on a dangerous stretch of highway near the closest beach access west of the parking lot or park east down by Malibu seafood and use the underpass. The parking lot is nicely landscaped and clean with picnic tables, benches and a restroom. Because you cannot easily get to the beach and because it is a paid lot, it hardly ever has anyone in it. Nice place to stop and relax with lovely views and a much lesser chance of getting run over than most of the coast around Malibu.

Yelp
Free parking along PCH! Beach seems smaller than most I've been to, and I think Zuma or Pointe Dume is better!

Yelp
Was able to find parking, walk down the hill & enjoy the beach. Had a picnic out there which was really fun.

Yelp
A great stop along PCH with restrooms, tables, and benches to enjoy the view. Its not monitored so its a great location to have picnic and a glass (or two) of wine. Plenty of parking and easy to get to.

Yelp
A beautiful beach to stroll on especially at low tide so we can get past the rocks. It is nestled between houses at each end. There are a few places to get down the cliff to the water relatively safely. Otherwise the trip down is pretty steep. Park near the houses at either end an there you will find the easier paths.

Yelp
Found a great little place to hang out for about an hour. It got pretty busy for a Monday afternoon. Beach was clean and lots of parking.

Yelp
Gorgeous beach to walk along and enjoy the beautiful beach scenery. Parking is relatively easy to find and they have picnic tables and restrooms to accommodate your visit. If you are seeing residential, you are in the right spot. Short walk down a hill and you are at a gorgeous Malibu beach, enjoy!
